HEALTH EDUCATION ABOUT FREE SEX FOR ADOLESCENTS AT SMK SETYA BHAKTI 2 AND SMK 16 EAST JAKARTA

Background: Adolescence is an important transitional period due to excessive curiosity. Adolescents' curiosity about sexual life is increasing along with the information on social media. The problem of premarital sexual behavior in adolescents is very important to prevent because it can lead to early pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. Objective: This activity aims to increase knowledge about the impact of premarital sexual behavior and its prevention on students of SMK Setya Bhakti 2 and SMK 16 East Jakarta. Method: Community service activities began with data collection at schools in the East Jakarta area, then providing direct education to grade XII students. All participants were given a pre-test and post-test as an evaluation. Results: The activity was held on February 16 2024, attended by 38 students of SMK Setya Bhakti 2 and 40 students of SMK 16 East Jakarta. The average age of participants was 17-18 years. More than fifty percent participants had poor knowledge regarding free sex (61.5%), then increased to be good knowledge by 77.0%. Conclusion: Premarital sexual education for grade XII students can increase their knowledge so that adolescents can avoid the dangers of free sexual behavior.

Hubungan Antara Sikap Terhadap Perilaku Seks Pranikah dengan Perilaku Seks Pranikah pada Mahasiswa

This study aims to determine the relationship between students' attitudes toward premarital sex behavior and premarital sex behavior. Using quantitative approaches with correlation methods, this study involved students aged 18-25 years who had or had a partner. The sampling technique used was Accidental Sampling, with respondents as many as 125 students. Premarital sexual behavior was measured using the Guttman scale based on the stages of premarital sexual behavior: touching, kissing, petting, and intercourse. Attitudes toward premarital sex are measured by the Brief Sexual Attitude Scale (BSAS) which includes four dimensions: permissiveness, birth control, communion, and instrumentality. The results showed a positive relationship between attitudes towards premarital sex and premarital sex behavior, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.479 and significant at p<0.05. Attitudes contributed 22.9% to premarital sexual behavior.

THE IMPACT OF E-LEARNING ON ADOLESCENTS' KNOWLEDGE ABOUT PRE-MARRIAGE SEXUAL BEHAVIOR

A Health Office report stated that in 2022, 1.9% of teenagers in the Grobogan Regency became pregnant outside of marriage. These adolescents range in age from 15 to 19. Because neither parents nor teenagers can comprehend it, premarital sexual activity is rarely discussed by either group. Teenagers who engage in sexual activity before marriage have access to a limited number of counselling and advocacy centres. There are a lot of young people who participate in risky sexual behaviour before they get married without being aware of the implications. The study utilized a quantitative quasi-experiment with pre- and post-tests administered to a single group. The investigation was carried out in March and April 2024 in the villages of Karanglangu, Kedungjati District, and Grobogan Regency. There were 72 participants in this study. E-learning was provided to the respondents for a period of six weeks. A paired T-test was the statistical test that was chosen. A P-value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05, was found in the statistical test results. It would appear that this form of education impacts the comprehension of premarital sexual behaviour among adolescents.

Sexual and reproductive health of Sudanese refugee girls in Chad: mixed methods study with perspectives from 12-19 year old girls, parents, and health workers.

In humanitarian settings, refugee girls' vulnerability to negative sexual and reproductive health (SRH) outcomes and the barriers they face to access to SRH services increase. Despite global guidelines on adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in humanitarian settings, evidence on the diverse knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of refugee adolescents are limited. This mixed methods study used a cross-sectional survey and participatory research activities to explore the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of 12-19 year old refugee girls from Darfur living in two refugee camps in Wadi-Fira, Chad. Focus group discussions with parents of adolescents and in-depth interviews with health workers were conducted to better understand community attitudes toward adolescent SRHR and barriers to accessing services. Overall, SRH knowledge, including of contraceptive methods, was mixed, but older girls had better knowledge than younger girls. Despite stigma around adolescent sexual activity expressed in this community, 20.9% of girls had already had sex. The majority of girls believed that health workers would maintain confidentiality if they sought contraception. Among girls who had ever had sex, 18.0% were currently using a modern contraceptive. None were using a long-acting method, but most obtained their method at the camp health center. Parents and health workers described how social stigma toward premarital sex and unintended pregnancy impeded adolescent access to SRHR information and services, although the midwives described helping girls to seek contraception. Despite community stigma towards premarital sex and contraception for adolescents, some girls in the camps successfully managed to receive a contraceptive method, demonstrating both their interest in and need for contraception. Although midwives were largely supportive of adolescent access, expanding contraceptive service delivery channels and making services more adolescent-responsive would further increase adolescent access. Gender transformative programming engaging girls and boys, should be expanded to improve adolescent knowledge and self-efficacy with respect to SRHR. These efforts must also engage parents and community members to create an enabling environment for adolescent SRHR and reduce stigma.

The Effect of Flashcard Education on Premarital Sexual Behavior in Adolescent

Background: Adolescent who experience puberty in their bodies appear sex hormones that begin to work, resulting in a sense of attraction to the opposite sex. Premarital sex is a behavior that is carried out based on sexual desire in adolescents. Adolescent knowledge and sources of information received by adolescents are important points in efforts to prevent premarital sexual behavior. The preventive efforts can be done by providing education about the right information through various methods and media. One of them is education using flashcard media. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of education on premarital sexual behavior using flashcard media. Methods: This study design was a quasi-experimental pre-test-post test design with control group. The number of samples were 60 which were divided into two groups and the inclusion criteria being adolescents aged 15-17 years and were or had been dating. The intervention group received treatment in the form of pre-marital sexual behavior education with flashcard media. The control group received pre-marital sexual behavior education using the lecture method. Before and after the intervention, researchers conducted a pretest and posttest using a pre-marital sexual behavior questionnaire and data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: There was a difference in the average score of premarital sexual behavior in the intervention group after receiving flashcard education intervention with p value = 0.010 (p <0.05). Conclusion: Education using flashcard affects premarital sexual behavior in adolescents. Preventive and promotive efforts of premarital sexual behavior in adolescents using flashcard media are an alternative for nurses in providing counseling.

Cultural taboos and low sexual and reproductive health literacy among university students in Magway city, Myanmar

University students in Myanmar experience a high prevalence of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) problems including unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. These are compounded by pervasive cultural taboos surrounding sex and sexuality. Sexual and reproductive health literacy is crucial to addressing these problems. Four focus group discussions with 33 university students revealed how cultural taboos act as barriers across five SRH literacy subdomains: accessing, comprehending, criticising and applying SRH information, and communicating with healthcare providers. Students primarily relied on online health information rather than face-to-face discussions. Many students considered SRH information to be ‘dirty’ and experienced feelings of shame, guilt and fear of being blamed or disrespected while seeking healthcare. They therefore hesitated to visit healthcare providers and sought SRH services only in urgent medical situations. Additionally, all SRH literacy subdomains were influenced by cultural taboos surrounding sex: societal denial towards youth premarital sex, and the perception of sexual matters as embarrassing and inappropriate. Advocacy is needed to promote positive societal attitudes towards sexual matters and youth premarital sex, signalling the value of culturally tailored digital SRH literacy interventions using vernacular language. Healthcare providers should offer non-judgemental youth-centred services to promote SRH literacy among students.

Biblical Perspective and Educational Domains in Sex Education: Addressing Gaps in Indonesian Sex Education

In Indonesia, sex education is delivered in public high schools as part of the biology curriculum and under the topic of reproductive health. According to the government’s view, when schools teach students properly about reproductive health, they will have a good understanding of their sexuality. Therefore, there is no need to have any further sexual education outside of the school curriculum. However, about half of the teenagers living in major cities are involved in premarital sex, and the rate of teen abortion and HIV infections is high. This article examined the implementation of sexual education in public high schools in Indonesia using a combination of qualitative and quantitative research. The survey was done on a sample of 416 students from 30 provinces and 66 cities in Indonesia. The finding support a particular approach to sex education that incorporates cognitive, affective, and psychomotor learning aspects of educational taxonomy. We find that it is essential to develop a separate sex education module in addition to the current reproductive health topic taught in biology to encourage students to practice abstinence, rather than just teaching reproductive health.

A qualitative study on perceptions of adolescents' sexual and reproductive health education in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, is contentious due to societal and religious taboos in the Javanese Muslim community and being misunderstood as a potential catalyst for the premarital sex of unmarried adolescents. The existing practice of SRH education cannot guarantee reliable information about adolescent sexuality. The research aims to understand the intergenerational perception of SRH education conducted at high schools, which has not been comprehensively researched. This qualitative study was conducted in 2016 to explore the perspectives of adults and adolescents regarding school-based SRH education. Focus group discussions and individual interviews were used for data collection, while data analysis was conducted using a feminist perspective. The study identified gaps in the delivery of SRH education among Javanese Muslim, Indonesia. SRH education had not adequately addressed how adults and adolescents perceived sexuality as taboo due to moral panic about premarital sex and societal expectations placed on girls to maintain their virginity. Peer counsellors, responsible for imparting SRH information and facilitating communication with adolescents, reproduced adult moral values toward their peers, leading to a reluctance among adolescents to share their issues. Consequently, SRH education failed to reach those experiencing unwanted pregnancy or a toxic intimate relationship. The results of the study indicate the need to challenge intergenerational perceptions regarding sexuality and gender expectations to promote a positive gender perspective within SRH education in Indonesia.

The Relationship Between HIV/AIDS Knowledge Levels and Teen Attitudes Towards Premarital Sex

Adolescence is a stage characterized by rapid changes and challenges that can be difficult to face due to limited knowledge, particularly about HIV/AIDS. Knowledge plays a crucial role in shaping attitudes, which can influence changes in perceptions of premarital sex. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between HIV/AIDS knowledge levels and teen attitudes towards premarital sex. The research employs a descriptive correlational method with a cross-sectional approach, involving 208 respondents selected through proportional stratified random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire. The results revealed that 100 respondents (48.1%) fell into the adequate knowledge category, 90 (43.3%) were in the good knowledge category, and 18 (8.7%) were categorized as having poor knowledge. Regarding attitudes towards premarital sex, 198 respondents (95.2%) exhibited a positive attitude, while 10 (4.8%) displayed a negative attitude. The Spearman rank correlation test yielded a p-value of 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes, with a very weak correlation in a positive direction. This means that as adolescents' understanding of HIV/AIDS increases, their attitudes become more positive. The study recommends adding resources about HIV/AIDS and premarital sex in schools and suggests that future research should focus on selecting appropriate educational methods for HIV/AIDS prevention.

Effect of Reproductive Health Education on Teenagers Through Video Media on Knowledge and Attitudes Regarding Sexual Pre-Marriage in SMPN 1 Dente Teladas

Premarital sex is contact between partners of the opposite or same sex, for example holding hands, kissing lips, kissing cheeks, petting, and having intimate relations, which is carried out without the legal ties of marriage according to religion and marriage law. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of reproductive health education on adolescent knowledge and attitudes about premarital sex in junior high school students. The type of research used is experimental research using a pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study was 98 students consisting of 49 experimental groups and 49 control groups. Data collection uses a questionnaire. Data analysis used the Wilxocon test. From the research results, it was found that the average knowledge of teenagers before being given education in the intervention group was 5.9 after being given education was 10.7 , in the control group it was 6.1 before and after 7.3 . The average attitude of adolescents before being given education in the intervention group was 23.8 and after being given education was 37.5. in the control group it was 23.9 and after administration in the control group it was 26.8 . There was an influence in the intervention group and the control group after being given and not being given educational video media on adolescent reproductive health on knowledge and attitudes about premarital sex at SMP N 1 Dente Teladas Tulang Bawang Lampung (p-value = 0.000). There was a difference in knowledge between the intervention and control groups of 44.82, while the difference in attitudes between the intervention and control groups was 49.0 (p-value = 0.000). It is hoped that education will be provided on an ongoing basis in schools .

Typological classification of attitudes toward premarital sexual behavior among Chinese undergraduates

BackgroundPremarital sexual behavior (PSB) is a controversial topic in China. However, in recent times, changes in attitudes have led to PSB being more common among college students. This study investigated the attitudes of Chinese undergraduates toward PSB to identify whether a typological classification exists among them.MethodsA total of 278 undergraduate students from two public universities in Mainland China completed a 17-item survey that included five dimensions( emotions, responsiveness, sexual health, sexual freedom, and condemnation) on attitudes toward PSB. Data were collected online from April 2023 to July 2023.ResultsThe PSB questionnaire demonstrated good reliability and construct validity in this study, with a Cronbach’s α of 0.759 and a KMO value of 0.769. Meanwhile, a series of models were estimated specifying one through five latent classes and three typologies on the attitude were identified: “Affective,”“Avoidant,” and “Open.” After the best fitting model was determined, multiple analysis of variance testing of different factors such as gender, year of study and where one came from were found to have significant effects on attitude complexity (p < .01).ConclusionThis research will contribute to the dissemination of information on PSB in China, which will be helpful in understanding relevant issues associated with PSB.

The Influence of Social Media on Adolescent Sexual Behavior: A Retrospective Analysis

In this modern era, the internet has become an essential part of basic human needs. Social media, as one of the most widely used platforms, offers various benefits, such as a means of communication and self-expression. However, behind these benefits, there are various negative impacts, especially for teenagers and minors. One of them is access to pornographic content that can influence premarital sexual behavior. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media on adolescent sexual behavior. The research method used is a literature study, by collecting and reviewing theories from various relevant literatures. Based on an analysis of seven international articles, it was found that adolescents have a very high exposure to negative content on social media, including pornography. This exposure increases the risk of unhealthy sexual behavior, where the more often adolescents are exposed to information and experiences related to sexual behavior, the stronger the stimulus to imitate the behavior. One significant impact of unhealthy social media use is the increase in promiscuous sex among adolescents. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of supervision and education for adolescents in using social media to minimize these negative impacts.

Gender segregation in the friendship networks of Muslim youth in Germany: the role of chastity norms

ABSTRACT Western Muslim youth engage less in romantic relationships than their non-Muslim peers, an observation usually attributed to chastity norms that oppose Muslim youths’ premarital sexual activity. In this study, I ask whether chastity norms also shape cross-gender interaction beyond romantic relationships and lead to fewer cross-gender friendships among Muslim than non-Muslim youth. To isolate the consequences of chastity norms from institutionalized practices of gender segregation in Muslim religious communities, I study friendship-making in German coeducational schools, which provide ample opportunities for cross-gender friendships. I apply multilevel exponential random graph models to large-scale data on adolescents’ school-based friendship networks, finding cross-gender friendships to be generally infrequent but notably rarer among Muslim than non-Muslim youth. However, this lack of cross-gender friendships is limited to Muslim youth who hold strong chastity norms, while more liberal Muslim youth have as many cross-gender friends as non-Muslims. Among non-Muslims, chastity norms are unrelated to cross-gender friendships.

Pengaruh Bimbingan Kelompok dengan Peer Group Education terhadap Tingkat Pengetahuan tentang Perilaku Seksual Pranikah Remaja di SMK Bina Informatika Kota Bogor Tahun 2024

Adolescent sexual behavior can be influenced by exposure to mass media, both print and electronic. One of the efforts to improve adolescents' knowledge about sexual behavior is by providing health education. Peers are also a significant source of information about sex in shaping adolescents' sexual knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. This study aims to determine whether or not there is an effect of Group Guidance with Peer Group Education on the Level of Knowledge about Premarital Sexual Behavior of Adolescents at Smk Bina Informatika Bogor City. This study used a pre-experimental research design of the pre-post part in one group (One-group pre-post test design). The results showed that based on the Marginal Homogeneity Test obtained (Asymp.Sig) 0.000 &lt;0.05, Ha was accepted, meaning that there were differences before and after being given group guidance with peer group techniques about adolescent premarital sexual behavior.

Effectiveness of a community-based intervention in changing knowledge of and attitudes towards early marriage in The Gambia.

A study was conducted to assess the effects of a multi-component community-based project intervention on changing knowledge of, and attitudes towards early marriage for girls in The Gambia. The study involved a cross-sectional household survey of 201 male and female parents and 296 adolescent boys and girls aged 10-19. It also included two community-based focus group discussions and six key informant interviews. The study compared the project baseline and midline data in the analysis of the survey data. The findings show a significant increase from a baseline of (44.8%) to (70.7%) at midline among the parents who have the view that the girl needs to come of age (18 years) before going into marriage. At both baseline and midline, there is a fear that girls may break their virginity by indulging in premarital sex if they do not marry early. However, there was a significant decrease from (51.7%) at baseline to (10%) (p-value <0.001) in the proportion of parents who think girls must marry early to avoid premarital sex. The findings show between (2%) and (7%) increase from baseline to midline on the view among adolescent boys and girls that girls have the right to choose who to marry. Findings from the focus group discussions and key informant interviews directly linked the changes in knowledge of attitudes towards early marriage among parents and adolescents to the project intervention.

Pengaruh Penyuluhan Tentang Perilaku Seks Pranikah Terhadap Pengetahuan dan Sikap Siswa di SMA Negeri 1 Kayan Hulu Tahun 2023

The latest data from the Sintang District Health Office for 2022 shows that in the period January-July 2022, according to gender, there were 10 STI cases in women and 23 cases in men.The aim of this study was to determine the effect of counseling on premarital sexual behavior on the knowledge and attitudes of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kayan Hulu in 2023. This study used an quantitative method with a pre-experimental design and used the One Group Pretest-Posttest design Design. The results showed that there was an increase in knowledge after counseling of 1.5 and an increase in attitude after counseling of 3.2. Statistical test results using the Wilcoxon test on the knowledge variable obtained P-value = 0.0001 &lt;0.05 and on the attitude variable obtained P-value = 0.0001 &lt;0.05. This means that there are differences in students' knowledge and attitudes before and after counseling about premarital sex behavior. There is an effect of counseling about premarital sex behavior on the knowledge and attitudes of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kayan Hulu in 2023.

Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Information Strategies for Adolescent Girls in African Cultural Communities in South Africa

The study used a mixed-methods research design to investigate appropriate information strategies for adolescent girls’ sexual and reproductive healthcare (SRH) in South Africa, with special reference to Barolong Boo Ratshidi people around Mahikeng, North-West Province. The socio-cultural factors examined included socio-cultural perceptions on adolescence, the adolescent girls’ appropriate knowledge and information spaces for SRH, and parental socio-cultural influence on adolescent utilisation of mainstream healthcare services. Using both qualitative and quantitative research methods the study revealed rampant premarital sexual intercourse among adolescents, with exposure to several SRH risks; the link between socio-cultural factors and SRH was evidenced in society’s values, norms, and belief systems. Friends were the main confidantes for information on SRH. The findings imply that development and support for sexual and reproductive healthcare information strategies for adolescent girls in African cultural communities should take into account the influence of socio-cultural factors for effective access to appropriate SRH services. The recommendations included: developing appropriate programmes to enlighten parents, adolescents, and other community stakeholders; providing adolescents with accurate information on the dimensions of SRH, especially their interaction with socio-cultural factors; the need to harmonise SRH dimensions with socio-cultural factors in education, so that adolescents are not confused; empowering adolescent homes as primary socialisation agencies for positive SRH development among adolescents; developing comprehensive SRH strategies, involving medical, social, cultural, gendered and age-specific aspects.

The Correlation Between Parent Communication and Knowledge Regarding Sexual Behavior in Adolescents

Premarital sexual behavior in adolescents tends to increase. This is caused by several factors, one of which is low knowledge about sexual behavior. Knowledge in adolescents is one of the duties of parents. Therefore, communication between parents and adolescents is important. This study aims to determine the relationship between parental communication and knowledge about sexual behavior in adolescents. The research method used is a descriptive correlation with a cross-sectional approach. The population of this study is adolescents aged 12-15 years living at home with their parents. The number of samples was 114 The research instrument used a knowledge questionnaire and FARBCS. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate analysis with bivariate analysis using the Spearman rank test. The results showed that 51.8% of the 114 respondents had adequate knowledge and 88.6% of respondents had open communication. The results of the correlation test showed a p-value of 0.884. The conclusion from this study is that there is no relationship between parental communication and knowledge about sexual behavior in adolescents. It is hoped that future researchers will examine the factors that influence knowledge about sexual behavior.
