Statistical analysis of polarization-inhomogeneous Fourier spectra of laser radiation scattered by human skin in the tasks of differentiation of benign and malignant formations.

The optical model of formation of polarization structure of laser radiation scattered by polycrystalline networks of human skin in Fourier plane was elaborated. The results of investigation of the values of statistical (statistical moments of the 1st to 4th order) parameters of polarization-inhomogeneous images of skin surface in Fourier plane were presented. The diagnostic criteria of pathological process in human skin and its severity degree differentiation were determined.

Transformation of the polarization structure of laser radiation in optical systems

A range of questions regarding the calculation of the spatial polarization structure of laser radiation in optical systems is considered. It is shown that polarization aberrations in such systems lead to a distortion of the initial polarization structure. Requirements for an optical system intended for the transmission of the polarization structure of laser radiation and methods for the compensation of polarization aberrations are discussed.

Polarization-phase mapping and reconstruction of biological tissue architectonics during diagnosis of pathological lesions

Specific features of the formation of local and statistical polarization structures of laser radiation scattered in phase-inhomogeneous layers (PIL) of biological tissue (BT) were studied. The distribution of azimuth and eccentricity of boundary field polarization was found to correlate with the orientation-phase structure of multifractal PIL. A method of polarization phase reconstruction of BT architectonics was suggested.

Skin as a transformer of the polarization structure of laser radiation

Transformation of the polarization structure of a laser radiation scattered by the human skin is studied. A technique based on the matrix modeling of the optical properties of the skin considered as a superposition of epidermis and dermis, is proposed. Physical mechanisms behind the transformation of the polarization state of the scattered laser radiation are analyzed in terms of the ensemble of biospeckles.

Changes in the polarization structure of laser radiation by lens systems

An investigation is made of changes in the inclination of the plane of oscillation and of the degree of linearity of the polarization in the course of propagation of laser radiation through lens systems. It is shown that after passage through an analyzer the intensity distribution in a beam that has crossed such a lens system becomes inhomogeneous.
