The results of early intervention neurodevelopmental therapy in premature infants at the age of four, according to the Bayley's III assessment tool

Introduction: The main goal of modern Neonatology is the survival of premature infants with as few problems as possible. The purpose is to preserve and care for the brain potential of Brain Care (Als H. 2006). Neurodevelopmental Care is provided to infants from birth to the age of three. It concerns infants who have developmental deficits or are at risk of developing neurodevelopmental disorders. The goal of Early Intervention is to promote child health, enhance existing and emerging abilities, minimize developmental delay, address existing or emerging motor, cognitive, and emotional deficits, as well as prevent cognitive, functional, and limited parents and the entire family environment. Purpose: The purpose of this research is to study the necessity and possibilities of early intervention and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of premature infants, according to the Bayley III assessment scale. A clinical trial demonstrating the effect of Neurodevelopmental Education on premature infants, according to the measurements of the Bayley Scale. Method: This study was designed as a clinical trial between September 2017 and August 2023. It included one hundred premature infants who were recorded and equally divided between premature infants who received simple counseling according to early intervention therapy and not any type of Neurodevelopmental Education (Group A, 25 boys, 25 girls aged 1 month and 15 days) and premature infants who received Neurodevelopmental Education therapy immediately after their discharge from the NICU (Group B, 25 boys, 25 girls aged 1 month and 15 days). Both groups received Early Intervention Neurodevelopmental Care during their stay in the NICU. Therapy will be administered by the researcher and the staff trained by the researcher himself for a period of the last 12 years. The groups were evaluated at the age of 4 years using the Bayley Scale for Infant and Toddler Development, Third Edition (BayleyIII). It should be noted that the Bayley Scales for infant and toddler development will be examined and will serve as the research instrument of the current project. Finally, conclusions will be drawn based on the statistical analysis of the results obtained from the evaluation and comparison of the two groups.

The influence of a physiotherapeutic intervention program for patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome: a quasi-experimental study

Post-COVID-19 syndrome affects patients regardless of the severity of the disease. The most common symptoms are fatigue, migraine, attention deficit, dyspnea, and depression. Physiotherapeutic intervention has been used as a strategy to aid the rehabilitation of patients. Objective: To analyze the effects of a physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program on quality of life, functional capacity, perceived exertion, perception of pain, and muscle strength in patients with post-COVID-19 syndrome. Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study with 33 participants, divided into two groups: an intervention group (IG) who received the physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program and a control group (CG) who did not. Participants were assessed for strength before and after the intervention period, using handgrip dynamometry and being assessed with a visual analog scale (VAS) for pain, the six-minute walk test (6MWT) for functional capacity, the BORG scale for exertion perception, and the SF-36 scale for quality of life. Results: A significant increase (p<0.05) in quality of life was observed in the IG in the SF-36 domains of physical functioning, physical role limitations, bodily pain, and increased handgrip strength. There was a significant difference (p<0.05) between the groups for perceived exertion before and after the intervention. No significant differences were found among the other variables. Conclusion: The physiotherapeutic intervention program improved the quality of life assessed with the SF-36 domains of physical functioning, physical role limitations, and bodily pain, and increased handgrip strength of patients with symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome.

INFLUENCE OF PHYSICAL THERAPY REHABILITATION ON FUNCTIONAL RECOVERY OF OLDER PEOPLE AFTER COVID-19

Abstract Retrospective cohort conducted through an online survey sent to older people (≥60 years) of both sexes, with confirmed diagnosis of Covid-19 registered in the Municipal Health Department of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Individuals with cognitive limitations and those who refused to participate were excluded. Functional capacity was assessed using Katz and Lawton Indices for pre-Covid, immediate post-Covid, and current time points, and characteristics of post-Covid physiotherapeutic rehabilitation were collected. Statistical analysis was performed using JASP-0.17.3 software, and group comparisons were made using repeated measures ANOVA, considering alpha=0.05. From March to August 2023, 86 individuals participated, with median age of 66.5 [62.3-71.0] and 57.0% (n=49) male. Among them, 39.5% (n=34) received recommendations for physiotherapeutic rehabilitation and 88.2% (n=30) of them were rehabilitated, while 11.8% (n=4) did not receive treatment. Older people with recommendation for physiotherapy post-Covid-19 demonstrated worse functional status (p< 0.001). Older people who received treatment were functionally equivalent to those who did not attend physiotherapy rehabilitation (p=1.000 for Katz Index and p=0.812 for Lawton Index). The primary indication for post-Covid-19 physiotherapy was muscular fatigue (70.0%, n=21), and domiciliary care was the predominant modality received (46.7%, n=14). Older people who were recommended for physiotherapy showed worse functional status after Covid-19, but there was no difference in long-term functional capacity. This suggests the potential importance of physiotherapeutic rehabilitation for functional recovery after Covid-19.

Rehabilitation on cerebellar ataxic patients with multiple sclerosis: A systematic review.

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory, autoimmune disease of the Central Nervous System with a vast spectrum of clinical phenotypes. A major aspect of its clinical presentation is cerebellar ataxia where physiotherapy and treatment modalities play a significant role on its management. This systematic review aims to investigate the physiotherapeutic rehabilitation techniques regarding the management of cerebellar ataxia due to MS and secondary to stratify each protocol as part of a multi structural personalized rehabilitation approach based on the gravity of the symptoms. A Pubmed Medline, Scopus and Web of Science research was performed using the corresponding databases. The results were screened by the authors in pairs. In our study, six (6) non-pharmacological interventional protocols, 3 Randomized Controlled Trials and 3 pilot studies, were included with a total of 145 MS patients. Physiotherapeutic techniques, such as NDT-Bobath, robotic and visual biofeedback re-education protocols and functional rehabilitation techniques were included. In most cases cerebellar ataxic symptoms were decreased post-treatment. The overall quality of the studies included was of moderate level (level B). Rehabilitation in cerebellar ataxia due to MS should be based on multicentric studies with the scope of adjusting different types of treatments and physiotherapeutic techniques based on the severity of the symptom.

Gait quality after robot therapy compared with physiotherapy in the patient with incomplete spinal cord injured: A systematic review.

Spinal cord injury results in the interruption of neuronal conduction in the spinal cord, a condition that occurs in 0.1% of the world's population. This results in severe limitations in autonomy including locomotor function. Its recovery can be pursued through conventional isolated physiotherapeutic rehabilitation (overground walking training - OGT) or associated with Robot-assisted gait training - RAGT (e.g.: Lokomat ®). The aim of this review is to compare the effectiveness of RAGT combined with conventional physiotherapy. The databases consulted, from March 2022 to November 2022, were PubMed, PEDro, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (Cochrane Library) and CINAHL. RCT studies of people with incomplete spinal cord injuries treated with RAGT and/or OGT with the aim of improving walking were analysed. Among the 84 RCTs identified, 4 were included in the synthesis, with a total of 258 participants. The outcomes analysed concerned both locomotor function through lower limb muscle strength and the need for assistance in walking, using the WISCI-II scale and the LEMS. Robotic treatment stimulated the greatest improvements in the four studies; however, they were not always statistically significant. A rehabilitation protocol combining RAGT with conventional physiotherapy is more effective than isolated OGT in improving ambulation in the subacute phase.

Impact of Active Physiotherapy Rehabilitation on Pain and Global and Functional Improvement 1–2 Months after Lumbar Disk Surgery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Introduction: Lumbar disc surgery is a common procedure for patients with lower back pain associated with lumbar disc herniation. This study aims to evaluate the impact of active physiotherapeutic rehabilitation on global/functional improvement and subjective pain score reduction among patients 1–2 months following lumbar disc surgery. The outcomes of this study are to assess the impact of active physiotherapeutic rehabilitation on functional improvement and subjective improvement in pain behavior post active rehabilitation. The outcomes are measured as pain assessed using the visual analog scale, global measurement of improvement, back pain functional status, and return to work. Methods: Databases, including MEDLINE/PubMed (10 June 1996, 2022), Web of Science (10 June 1997, 2022), Scopus (15 March, 10 June 2004, 2022), CINAHL Plus (10 June 1961, 2022), and Cochrane (10 June 1993, 2022) were reviewed without any language restrictions. All studies were systematically screened; however, only randomized controlled trials were eligible against the inclusion/exclusion criteria. All statistical tests were conducted in Review Manager (RevMan) 5.4. The quality of studies was appraised using the grading of recommendations assessment, development, and evaluation (GRADE) approach and the risk-of-bias 2 (RoB 2) tool. Results: Fifteen articles were identified, enrolling a total of 2188 patients, where the majority of active rehabilitation interventions continued for 3 months. All these interventions began 1–2 months postoperatively, and quantitative findings were presented as mean scores. The subjective pain scores were significantly lower in the interventional group, with a mean difference (MD) of −7.01 (p = 0.004). The pain disability score was considerably lower in the interventional group, with an MD of −3.94 (p = 0.002). Global improvement was higher in the interventional group (OR = 1.94, p = 0.0001). Conclusions: This study presents significant improvement in all parameters concerning pain and functionality. Postoperative rehabilitation requires optimization concerning timing, duration, intensity, and associated components to benefit patients post lumbar disc surgery.

COMPARE THE EFFECTS OF STRENGTHENING EXERCISES WITH AND WITHOUT SOFT TISSUE MOBILIZATION FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF TENSION NECK SYNDROME IN FEMALES: A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL

Background: Tension neck syndrome (TNS) is a prevalent condition worldwide. Soft tissue mobilization and strengthening exercises are used in physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of the musculoskeletal disorders. Objective: To compare the effects of strengthening exercises with and without soft tissue mobilization (STM) for pain and disability reduction in females with TNS. Methods: A single-blinded, parallel-group randomized controlled trial was conducted at the National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Pakistan, from April to July 2016. A total of n=30 females, aged 30-70 years, were recruited through non-probability convenient sampling technique and randomly allocated to the experimental and control group. The experimental group received STM and neck isometric strengthening exercises, whereas the control group received neck isometric strengthening exercises only. The Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) was used to assess the pain intensity, while Neck Disability Index (NDI) was used for the neck-related disability. The data was collected at the baseline, after the 4th session and after the 8th session. The repeated measure analysis of variance (RM ANOVA) was used to analyse within the group changes, while the independent t-test was used to analyse the differences between the groups. The data was analysed by using SPSS version 21.Results: The mean age of the study participants was 47.9 ± 8.95 years. Within groups’ changes showed that pain intensity, individual items of NDI and its total score showed significant improvement in both the groups from the baseline to the 8th session (p £ 0.05). After the 8th session, the experimental group showed more significant reduction (p £ 0.05) in pain intensity and neck disability as compared to the control group. Conclusions: Soft tissue mobilization when combined with neck isometric strengthening exercises was more effective than exercises alone for reducing the pain intensity and disability in females with tension neck syndrome. Features of the formation of postoperative scars under the influence of rehabilitation programs in patients with chronic paraproctitis in the early postoperative period after minimally invasive surgical hospital-replacing technologies

BACKGROUND: The study of the features of the formation of postoperative scars under the influence of rehabilitation programs in patients with chronic paraproctitis in the early postoperative period after minimally invasive surgical hospital-replacing technologies expands our understanding of the pathological condition and methods of its treatment.
 AIM: To study the effect of various rehabilitation programs on the formation of postoperative scars in patients with chronic paraproctitis in the early postoperative period after minimally invasive surgical hospital-replacing technologies.
 MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study summarized and analyzed the experience of surgical treatment of 180 patients with chronic paraproctitis using minimally invasive surgical hospital-replacing technologies and rehabilitation programs in the early postoperative period. Laser ablation of the fistula tract the classic FiLaC technology was performed in 90 patients; modified FiLaC technology 90. Each of the subgroups was divided into 3 groups: group 1 (main) included 30 patients who underwent a 4-component rehabilitation complex from the second day after the operation; group 2 (comparison) 30 patients who underwent a 2-component rehabilitation complex from the second day after the operation and group 3 (control) 30 patients, without an additional physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program. A comprehensive assessment of the features of the formation of postoperative scars was carried out as a criterion for the effectiveness of treatment, one of the tools of which was a complex transrectal ultrasound with color Doppler mapping, Dopplerography and sonoelastography at different stages of treatment.
 RESULTS: All patients tolerated the course of treatment well: there were no cases of interruption of rehabilitation programs. The dynamic analysis of the data showed a statistically significant result: the best in patients of the main group against the background of a 4-component rehabilitation program, the formation of postoperative scars accelerated, the formation of a mature scar occurred earlier, the risks of developing postoperative complications and relapses of the disease decreased.
 CONCLUSION: The use of rehabilitation programs in patients with chronic paraproctitis in the early postoperative period after minimally invasive surgical hospital-replacing technologies can improve clinical results due to the complex physiotherapeutic effect. Complex transrectal ultrasound with color Doppler mapping, Dopplerography and sonoelastography in patients with chronic paraproctitis is an effective non-invasive diagnostic method: monitoring the formation of a postoperative scar and assessing the ongoing treatment.

Effectiveness of an expert assessment and individualised treatment compared with a minimal home-based exercise program in women with late-term shoulder impairments after primary breast cancer surgery: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial

BackgroundIn breast cancer patients, late-term upper limb sequelae, such as shoulder pain and impaired shoulder function, remain common after primary breast cancer surgery. The aim of this trial is to evaluate whether an expert assessment of shoulder impairments, followed by an individualised treatment plan, is superior to a minimal physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program in reducing shoulder symptoms, among women with late-term shoulder impairments after primary breast cancer.Methods/designThe study is designed as a stratified, parallel-group, assessor-blinded, randomised, controlled trial conducted in Denmark; 130 participants with late-term shoulder impairments 3–7 years after primary surgery for breast cancer will be recruited. Participants will be randomised (allocation 1:1) to either an expert assessment of shoulder impairments followed by an individualised treatment plan or to follow a minimal physiotherapeutic rehabilitation program delivered in a pamphlet. The primary outcome will be a change in shoulder pain and function from baseline to 12 weeks after initiating the treatment, as measured by the patient-reported outcome Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) questionnaire.DiscussionThere has been an insufficient focus in research and clinical practice on late-term shoulder impairment in women following surgery for breast cancer. This trial will focus on interventions towards late-term shoulder impairments and is expected to provide evidence-based knowledge to physiotherapists and women about the management of shoulder pain and impaired shoulder function.Trial registrationClinicalTrials.gov NCT05277909. Long-term results of minimally invasive surgical treatment of extra- and transsphincteric perianal fistulas using postoperative rehabilitation programs

Introduction. A modern promising trend in coloproctology is the use of minimally invasive surgical technologies in the surgical treatment of extra- and transsphincteric perianal fistulas, in particular laser technology FiLaC (Fistula Laser Closure). Surgical treatment of patients with extra- and transsphincteric perianal fistulas requires proper routing, stratification of the used methods of surgical treatment, postoperative rehabilitation and dynamic evaluation of the obtained results, including in the long-term period. Purpose of the study. In a comparative aspect, to evaluate the long-term results of surgical treatment of trans- and extrasphincteric perianal fistulas using the standard FiLaC technology and the developed modified FiLaC technology and the use of 2 or 4-component complex programs of physiotherapeutic postoperative rehabilitation. Material and methods. The study included 180 operated patients with trans- and extrasphincteric perianal fistulas, who were divided into two groups depending on the method of surgical intervention. In the 1st group (90 patients), the standard FiLaC technology was used for minimally invasive surgical treatment of fistulas; in the 2nd group (90 patients), a modified FiLaC technology, which provides for the opening of purulent streaks and laser coagulation of the intrasphincteric part of the fistula with a Biolitec laser (power 12 W, 100 J/cm), was applied. Each group was divided into 3 subgroups depending on the postoperative rehabilitation program used: in the 1st (main group), a 4-component program of postoperative rehabilitation was used, in the 2nd (comparison group) — a 2-component program, and in the 3rd (control group), the program of postoperative rehabilitation was not used. To evaluate the results obtained, the authors used a basic set (clinical examination with an assessment of the general condition, laboratory tests, high-resolution anoscopy, examination of the fistula tract with a button probe), additional instrumental methods (transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) with sonoelastometry, examination of the functional state of the rectal obturator), as well as a subjective assessment of the degree of improvement after treatment on the Clinical Global Impression Scale (Srikrishna S., Robinson D., Cardozo L. (2010)) and an assessment of the quality of life according to the SF-36 questionnaire (Ware JE et al. SF-36 Health Survey. Manual and interpretation guide. The Health Institute, New England Medical Center. Boston, Mass. 1993), which allow assessing the dynamics of the patient’s clinical and functional status in the process of rehabilitation, which is an urgent topic of scientific research. Long-term results were tracked over a period of 19 months up to 3 years (median 31 months). Results and discussion. The comparative analysis of the long-term results (up to 3 years), depending on the type of minimally invasive surgical treatment and the postoperative rehabilitation program used, showed that in the group of patients operated on using the FiLaC technology, the majority had good results — 96.7% of patients in the main group, 90,1% in the comparison group and 84% in the control group. In the comparative analysis of the long-term results of treatment (up to 3 years) in the patients with chronic paraproctitis after performing surgery using a modified FiLaC technology under the influence of the developed postoperative rehabilitation programs, it was found that: 59 people (65,5%) had good characteristics, 19 people (21.1%) had satisfactory characteristics, and 12 people (13,4%) had unsatisfactory characteristics. The differences were statistically significant p=0,002, which indicates that the long-term results were statistically significantly better in the main group than in patients of the control group who did not have rehabilitation measures. Conclusions. The obtained results demonstrated the benefits of using the modified FiLaC technology in the surgical treatment of transsphincteric and extrasphincteric fistulas of the rectum, which was confirmed by a 1,3-fold decrease in the incidence of relapses compared with the data obtained using the traditional FiLaC technology. The proportion of relapses in the main group of patients (when using a 4-component program of postoperative rehabilitation) decreased by 5,8 (comparison group) and 16,1 (control group) times, respectively (median observations 31 months), which allows us to recommend the developed modified FiLaC technology and comprehensive postoperative rehabilitation programs for wide introduction into the clinical practice of coloproctologists in the surgical treatment of transsphincteric and extrasphincteric perianal fistulas.

Elliptical Trainer Redesign to Diversify Muscles Recruitment

Abstract This work aims to introduce simple-to-implement modifications to the elliptical trainer device to increase its utility with added new exercise options. The effectiveness of the introduced modifications was assessed on 51 subjects, with effectiveness representing the recruitment of a broader range of muscle groups with desired intensity levels. The improvements include a new in-phase mode, where bilateral body synchronization creates a skiing-like motion, and a variable range of motion through adjusting the stride length of a rotating-link mechanism. The impact of these modifications on muscle recruitment was assessed by recording surface electromyogram (sEMG) from eleven major muscles while performing a total of six exercise routines. The routines have various combinations of mode and intensity to cover the traditional mechanism and the newly introduced mechanism adjustments for comparative analysis. The results have shown that increasing the stride length increases the demand on lower limbs muscles during the antiphase mode while decreasing it on upper limb muscles. When comparing the two exercise modes, all muscle groups showed significantly higher activity in the in-phase mode except for thigh muscles (Hamstrings and Quadriceps). Hamstrings revealed significantly higher activity in the antiphase mode, while Quadriceps showed no significantly different activity between the two modes. The introduced design modifications are shown to diversify the demand on major skeletal muscles hence improving its functionality at low added cost. Furthermore, these results can be exploited to implement gradual physiotherapeutic rehabilitation plans targeting various muscle groups with desired intensity levels.

Possibilities of syndrome-oriented medical rehabilitation in diseases of the respiratory organs in the resort of the Southern coast of Crimea

Aim. To evaluate the possibilities of physiotherapeutic syndrome-oriented medical rehabilitation (MR) for lung diseases (LD) in the climatic resort of the Southern Coast of Crimea (SCC). Materials and methods. In a single-center retrospective observational study, an analysis was made of the rehabilitation effects of physiotherapeutic interventions in a contingent of 100 patients with LD. Examination and treatment of patients was carried out in accordance with the standard of health resort care for patients with LD. Additionally, psychological studies and therapeutic effects were carried out by transcranial electrical stimulation, dynamic electrical nerve stimulation, mud therapy with Saki therapeutic mud, aromatherapy with sage oil and breathing training with a breathing simulator “New Breath”. The assessment of the values of 23 domains of “International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health” (ICF) was carried out according to the methodology developed in the “ARI n.a. I.M.Sechenov”. The values of domains at the beginning and at the end of the MR course were evaluated, as well as the dynamics of domains (equal to the result of subtracting the values of the domain at the end of the course from the value at the beginning of the course). Mathematical analysis of the obtaineddata was carried out using the methods of multivariate statistics. Results. A statistically significant (at p < 0.05) positive dynamics of a number of domains was established, indicating the success of a comprehensive course of MR, including domains b2401, b410, b420, b450, b455, b4552, b4601 and an integrated assessment of the functional state (IAFS). The 18 equations of the positive effect of course doses of physiotherapeutic procedures (alternating magnetic field, DENS, ultrasound therapy, halotherapy, inhalation therapy, aromatherapy, pelopathy, short-wave ultraviolet irradiation and massage) on the effectiveness of MR for 12 domains and for IAFS were obtained. Conclusion. The use of ICF domains as rehabilitation syndromes is substantiated. The complex of physiotherapeutic influences used in the treatment of patients with LD in the SCC climatic resort has significant potential for successful syndrome-oriented MR.

Impact of physiotherapy in patients with Hemophilia A

Hemophilia is a congenital X-ray disease associated with bleeding in which blood does not clot. It is categorized as a hemostasis problem. Hemostasis, the cessation of blood flow as a result of damage to a blood vessel, is normally divided into two processes, primary hemostasis and secondary hemostasis. In hemophilia, the secondary hemostasis (which results in the formation of a clot in the fibrin) is in this case broken. So, low coagulation is due to an abnormal protein plasma clotting abnormality in factors VIII and IX that are involved. Aim: The aim of this study is to show that combined rehabilitation based in exercises is more effective just a simple therapy to improve hemophilia and reducing the symptoms. Methods: In this review study 30 studies were obtained which have used different physiotherapeutic methods in the treatment of hemophilia A. The elected studies ranged from 2001-2019. The literature is based on official sources as Cochrane library, Pubmed, MEDLINE, DOAJ, Medscape, Clinical trial.gov and some articles like is Official Journal of WFH , BMJ Open. Results: During the study it was observed that the combined physiotherapeutic rehabilitation had more efficiency than a simple treatment method. Conclusion: A physiotherapeutic rehabilitation with combined methods based on exercises gives better and positive results in the treatment of hemophilic patients.

Medical rehabilitation in patients with anal incompetence after surgery for stage IV hemorrhoids

To evaluate the outcomes of comprehensive rehabilitation in patients with AI after hemorrhoidectomy to improve quality of life after surgery. A retrospective study was carried out on 46 patients (mean age 53.8±15.4 years) after hemorrhoidectomy with fecal incontinence, 13 (28.3%) males and 33 (71.7%) females. The main group included 25 patients who received comprehensive rehabilitation, including biofeedback training and tibial neuromodulation (TNM) for 15 days. The control group consisted of 21 patients who received TNM at home also for 15 days. The severity of fecal incontinence was determined using the Wexner score. The functional state of the sphincter before and after surgery was assessed using the anorectal manometry (sphincterometry) (WPM Solar, the Netherlands). Comprehensive rehabilitation resulted in a statistically significant clinical improvement: a decrease in the Wexner score in both males and females. No significant differences in manometry results were observed: the anal sphincter tone increased by 16.0% in females and 10.6% in males, and contractility increased by 17.7% and 15.1%, respectively. Monotherapy with TNM in control group patients improved tone indices by 8.7% in females and 6.8% in males, and contractility by 6.2 and 5.4%, respectively, which was lower than in the main group. Contraindications to physiotherapeutic procedures based on electrical stimulation, extracorporeal magnetic stimulation, and magnetic translumbosacral neuromodulation determine the only possible choice of medical rehabilitation, which is the combination of biofeedback training and TNM (as superior to TNM monotherapy). If out-patient medical rehabilitation is not feasible, patients are recommended to complement the home course with a specially designed set of exercises for anal incontinence treatment.

Detection of Typical Compensatory Movements during Autonomously Performed Exercises Preventing Low Back Pain (LBP).

With the growing number of people seeking medical advice due to low back pain (LBP), individualised physiotherapeutic rehabilitation is becoming increasingly relevant. Thirty volunteers were asked to perform three typical LBP rehabilitation exercises (Prone-Rocking, Bird-Dog and Rowing) in two categories: clinically prescribed exercise (CPE) and typical compensatory movement (TCM). Three inertial sensors were used to detect the movement of the back during exercise performance and thus generate a dataset that is used to develop an algorithm that detects typical compensatory movements in autonomously performed LBP exercises. The best feature combinations out of 50 derived features displaying the highest capacity to differentiate between CPE and TCM in each exercise were determined. For classifying exercise movements as CPE or TCM, a binary decision tree was trained with the best performing features. The results showed that the trained classifier is able to distinguish CPE from TCM in Bird-Dog, Prone-Rocking and Rowing with up to 97.7% (Head Sensor, one feature), 98.9% (Upper back Sensor, one feature) and 80.5% (Upper back Sensor, two features) using only one sensor. Thus, as a proof-of-concept, the introduced classification models can be used to detect typical compensatory movements in autonomously performed LBP exercises.

Physiotherapeutic Rehabilitation of a 48-Year Male with Buccal Mucosa Carcinoma of Squamous Cell: A Case Report

Buccal mucosa carcinoma of squamous cell is an uncommon kind of oral cavity cancer that is known to be dangerous. It's also linked to a high probability of local regional recurrence, and it's more likely in persons who chew tobacco and/or smoke, whether or not they drink alcohol. A 48-year patient is an elderly man who works as a farmer, mesomorphic built with right-hand dominance came to the tertiary care hospital with complaints of painful ulcers in upper left Jaw's front portion, which was relatively small initially and further increases to 6 x 4 cm approx., since last 4 months. Patient was complaining of pain, difficulty in mastication and manipulations etc. He has history of kharra chewing and tobacco chewing since last 10 years. With these complaints patient has come to the oral surgery department with buccal mucosa skin involvement and underwent surgery as compartmental resection of lesion, Modified Radical neck dissection and segmental mandibulectomy. Following surgical procedure patient has complaints of discomfort, limitation of movements at the operated site, chest pain, and limited mouth opening. For these complaints, programmed physiotherapy treatment was given to the patient which mainly concentrates on mouth opening and increasing range of motion of affected side.

Advanced Collateral Physiotherapy Management for Pneumothorax Following Dengue Encephalitis: A Case Study

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne sickness that has become a serious international public health issue in recent years.A 54 years old male patient, farmer by occupation came to rural hospital on 10TH September 2021 with complaint of fever associated with chills and rigors, slurring of speech 2 days back and 2 episodes of generalized tonic clonic seizures. Dengue was confirmed by the non-structural protein 1 (NS1) antigen and immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibody test. Radiological investigations revealed encephalitis and pneumothoraxfor which medical management along with inter costal drainage and collateral physiotherapeutic rehabilitation was administered.The goals of the physiotherapy rehabilitation were to reduce bronchospasm, to clear secretions lung fields, to regain full expansion of lungs and best possible functional recovery. Physiotherapy management has shown satisfactory results in regaining pulmonary function.After the completion of the treatment the patient gained maximum re-expansion of the lungs, had no breathing difficulties, the lungs were clear of sputum and was functionally independent.
