The purpose of the article is to find out the possibilities of using project technology in the educational process on a competency-based basis by students of higher education. The article clarifies the essence and task of applying project methods in professional pedagogical training. The peculiarities and practical value of the project method for the formation of professional competences of future chemistry teachers are revealed. Literary sources on the use of project methods in educational institutions of various levels were analyzed. The stages of creating practice-oriented projects are indicated: preparatory (theoretical), adaptation, search, activity (practical), final. The relationship between project activities of bachelors and the formation of their professional competence is shown. An approximate extended plan of the methodical project is given. The role of pedagogical practice in the acquisition of professional and methodical competences in the application of the project "Methodology and technology for studying the topic "The structure of the atom" developed by student-interns is outlined. Periodic law and periodic system of chemical elements" in the 8th grade. Considerable attention is paid to the protection of pedagogical practice, which examines the results of implementing the developed project into the educational process by future chemistry teachers. The requirements regarding the readiness of future teachers to carry out the educational process in chemistry are taken into account when reporting on the completion of pedagogical practice. It was found that the project technology is an invariant component in the educational process in the training of specialists in the specialty of Secondary Education (Chemistry) and ensures the integration of scientific-theoretical and practical (acquiring experience) training of the future chemistry teacher. Involvement of students in the development of long-term and personal projects ensures the full formation of professional competencies in accordance with the requirements of the educational and professional program «Secondary Education (Chemistry)».

Innovative Learning Approaches: Quantum Chemistry Board Games for Education and Computational Thinking Strategies

Computational thinking (CT) learning is becoming increasingly important in today's education in developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The development of board games is one of the techniques used to hone problem-solving skills by integrating CT into the learning process. Through this innovative learning approach, abstract concepts in atomic structure and the periodic system of elements are integrated into components of the game. The research aims to improve students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills in challenging chemistry content such as quantum numbers. This research includes the design, development, and implementation stages of board games in learning. The N-gain score of 0.7 is achieved, indicating an improvement in the effectiveness of learning chemistry subjects on atomic structure and the periodic system of elements through the designed board games. In addition, students provide positive feedback regarding engagement and interest in learning through this interactive approach. These results indicate that the use of CT-integrated board games can be an effective tool for teaching chemistry materials at the high school level while promoting students' CT skills. Well-designed board games can be used as effective learning tools to improve student's critical thinking and problem-solving skills in quantum numbers.

Development of Chemical Crossword Puzzle (Tekilama) Periodic System of Elements as a Companion Learning Media

<p>Penelitian pengembangan ini dilatar belakangi pada penggunaan media kimia yang digunakan belum maksimal sehingga peserta didik kurang terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran pendamping materi sistem periodik unsur dan menguji kualitas media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan. Penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model penelitian ADDIE. Karakteristik dari media pembelajaran ini yaitu memuat materi sistem periodik unsur dan latihan soal yang dikemas dalam bentuk teka teki silang. Hasil validasi ahli materi mendapatkan kriteria valid dengan nilai 4, sedangkan hasil validasi ahli media mendapatkan kriteria valid dengan nilai 4,08. Hasil dari penilaian peserta didik menapatkan kriteria sangat valid dengan nilai 4,27. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran tekilama layak digunakan<em>.</em></p>

THE PERIODIC TABLE OF CHEMICAL ELEMENTS AND THE PROBLEM OF ITS JUSTIFICATION

The article considers five stages in the history of the discovery and attempts to substantiate Mendeleev’s periodic system of chemical elements. The first stage consists in the accumulation, systematic analysis of extensive empirical material and in the direct establishment of the periodic law of chemical elements by Mendeleev. At the second stage, attempts were made to atomic-electronic explanation of the periodicity of the physical and chemical properties of elements on the basis of quantum mechanics and the Pauli principle. The third stage is associated with the development of nuclear physics, as well as with the development of such chemical methods as radiochemical analysis, the chromatographic method of color, etc. At the fourth stage, a solution to the problem was proposed on the basis of group theory in the quantum mechanical understanding. The fifth stage is based on the relational substantiation of the periodic system of chemical elements of the Mendeleev’s table, corresponding to the method of describing hadrons.

Ethnochemistry: Exploring the Potential of Sasak and Javanese Local Wisdom as a Source of Chemistry Learning to Improve the Learning Outcomes of Pre-Service Teachers

Learning resource availability was still focused on abstract concepts without integrating them with students' daily experiences. This appears since the ethnochemistry approach implementation in universities is still rarely conducted. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relevance of Sasak and Java local wisdom with chemistry and explore the potential of Sasak and Java local wisdom as a learning resource in basic chemistry courses. The data collection instruments were observation, interviews, and documentation. In analyzing the data, the researcher used the Spradley data analysis technique. The instruments were chosen based on their suitability with the type of data to be analyzed. Furthermore, the data analysis techniques consist of four stages, namely;(1) domain analysis; (2) taxonomic analysis; (3) componential analysis; and (4) cultural themes analysis. Based on the research findings, it proved that the local wisdom of Sasak and Java, which consists of cultural products and local wisdom values in Sasak and Java culture, has relevance to chemistry material that can be used as a learning resource. Research conclusions include: (1) The relevance of Sasak and Java local wisdom with basic chemistry material can be reviewed based on the perspective or analogy approach, representation, and visualization; and (2) the potential of Sasak and Java local wisdom as learning resources in basic chemistry courses includes three subjects, namely: material and its changes, the periodic system of elements, and chemical bonds integrated with Sasak and Java local wisdom

The rendering from the periodic system of elements on the stability, elastic, and electronic properties of M2AC phases

MAX phases are nanolaminated ternary materials that combine metallic and ceramic properties. Currently, the A-site elements replacement in traditional ones by later transition-metals opens a door to explore new types of MAX phases. In this work, we performed a systematic first-principle study to explore trends in stability, electronic structure and elastic properties of 288 compositions of M2AX phases (M=Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, W; A=Al, Si, P, S, Ga, Ge, As, Se, In, Sn, Sb, Te, Tl, Pb, Bi, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Tc, Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag, Cd, Os, Ir, Pt, Au, Hg; X=C). Such a dataset, combined with the rigid-band model been applied to most transition metal carbides, shows us the fundamental trends in bonding mechanisms and elastic properties of MAX phases endowed with the periodic arrangements of M/A-site elements. In particular, the M-A d-d interactions of MAX phases uniquely contribute to the elastic constant C33.

Situational tasks in the study of chemistry by students of nonchemical specialties

The article presents situational tasks in the discipline of higher educational institutions «Chemistry» and substantiates the advantages and importance of using this type of task in practical classes. Thus, a specific example of work to reduce the gap between the knowledge and skills of a university graduate and the needs of the employer is given. Situational tasks are presented as learning tools that are important to use, on the one hand, to ensure that the teacher develops students’ knowledge, skills and abilities provided for by regulatory documentation and, on the other hand, to make students aware of the purpose of studying a particular topic of the discipline, ways to search and find solutions concerning their professional activities, explanation and competent solution of everyday issues. For example, tasks and assignments on some topics of the course are presented: the basic concepts and laws of chemistry, the periodic system of elements, the energetics of chemical reactions, solutions and the basics of electrochemistry for students of non-chemical specialties of the university studying chemistry as a general educational discipline, which is a prerequisite for basic and specialized disciplines of the specialty. Such work in practical classes makes it possible to observe the expansion of knowledge and skills of students, an increase in their interest in the chosen profession and in the discipline «Chemistry», socio-psychological satisfaction from their own ability to apply the acquired knowledge in practice and, as a result, an easier inclusion of a young specialist in professional activity and the team.

BIOGEOCHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF SALINE GRASSLAND SOILS AND SALT MARSHES AND THE BENEFITS OF USING MICRO FERTILIZERS

The elemental composition of soils and the biogeochemical processes taking place in them are shown in the article. Opinions are given on the composition of microelements of saline meadow soils and salt marshes and the biophilicity of these elements. Microfertilizers are substances that contain microelements and are used in small amounts for the normal growth of plants. The presence of most of the elements in D.I. Mendeleev's periodic system of elements in the soil, plants and living organisms. However, the measurement of their quantity is about making a very wide range n "10-3- n "10-5 and even n "10-9- n "10-10 %.

IDENTIFICATION OF CONCEPT UNDERSTANDING AND SELF EFFICACY ATOMIC STRUCTURE AND PERIODIC SYSTEM OF ELEMENTS

Concept understanding is a process in which students are able to understand the information obtained, both the definition, nature and description of a concept so that they are able to construct the concept. Self efficacy is the individual's ability to organize the actions needed for certain achievements. This study aims to (1) describe students' understanding of concepts on the material atomic structure and the periodic system of elements. (2) describe students' self-efficacy on the material on atomic structure and the periodic system of elements. The type of research used in this research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The instrument used in this study was a three-tier question and a self-efficacy questionnaire.This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Palu in class X MIPA. The results showed that the students' understanding of concepts in the atomic structure and the periodic system of elements, the average percentage of students understanding concepts was 34.35% belonging to the low category of concept understanding, 24.1% of students who did not understand the concept of low category while students who experienced a misconception of 41.35% in the sufficient category. The results of the student self-efficacy research show that students' self-efficacy is good because most of them are in the high category of 45 students (75%), sufficient category is 15 students (25%).

Pengembangan Praktikum Kimia Dasar berbasis Video pada Materi Sistem Periodik Unsur

Technological developments change the researchers and educators thinking towards online learning. Various innovations were carried out to support effective online learning which suitable with the student competencies. As there is urgency for carrying practicum activities to achieved Course Learning Achievement (Capaian Pembelajaran Mata Kuliah (CPMK)) for the basic chemistry subject, there is need to make some innovation, which is by making practicum video. It could stimulate students critical thinking because it was presented with visual representations. It could overcome the limitations of space and time and could be used repeatedly. The research type was Research and Development with the Borg and Gall development model. The final product will be disseminated through YouTube platform which is integrated with sipda.unimed.ac.id. Validation results in media design and material aspect showed that the product was declared very valid with an average value of 86.87 percent and 97.92 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, the responses from 30 students showed that the product was very practical with an average score of more than 90 percent and was suitable with learning objectives of the basic chemistry course especially the periodic system of elements.

ВОПРОСЫ И ПЕРСПЕКТИВЫ ПРЕПОДАВАНИЯ ТЕМЫ «СОЛНЕЧНАЯ СИСТЕМА» ПО УЧЕБНИКАМ АСТРОНОМИИ

The article deals with the issues of teaching the topic "Solar system" of the discipline "Astronomy". The old textbook "Astronomy" by E.P. Levina and new - B.A. Vorontsova–Velyaminova, E.K. Strout and V.M. Charugin - in which the material about the planetary system is borrowed from publications of the last century. At present, what is stated in the textbook by B.A. Vorontsova-Velyaminov and E.K. Strout, the historically established idea of the formation and structure of the solar system (from planets alone) contradicts new discoveries and the observed harmonious structure of the solar system. The erroneousness of assigning the status of "minor planet" to asteroids of the main belt and many objects of the Kuiper belt is substantiated. this leads students to the misconception that there are many planets in the solar system. To the textbook "Astronomy" V.M. Charugin, the author of this article prepared a textbook "The Solar System of the 21st Century", which provides a model of the structure of the entire Solar System and the cometary hypothesis of its origin. The textbook contains a table "Periodic system of celestial bodies of the entire solar system" for astronomy classrooms, similar in significance to the table "Periodic system of chemical elements of D.I. Mendeleev.

The «D.I. Mendeleev’s Periodic System of the Elements» Mural Near the Mendeleev Institute for Metrology in Saint Petersburg: How Metrologists Celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Scientist

This article is timed to the celebration of the International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements, declared by the UN and UNESCO in connection with the 150th anniversary of the discovery by D. I. Mendeleev of the Periodic Law of Chemical Elements (1869). The article highlights the metrological activity of D. I. Mendeleev and tells about how in the scientific metrological center, he created the Main Chamber of Weights and Measures. Now the D.I. Mendeleyev Institute for Metrology (VNIIM) preserves the memory of the life and activities of the great Russian scientist and encyclopedist. Based on the research carried out in the archives of St. Petersburg and the funds of Metrological Museum, the article for the first time details the history of the formation of the Mendeleev memorial complex on the territory of VNIIM. The contribution of the institute metrologists to the creation of such famous sights of St. Petersburg as the monument to D. I. Mendeleev (sculptor I. Ya. Ginzburg, 1932) and the mural (mosaic) «D. I. Mendeleev Periodic system of elements» (1935) on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the scientist is shown. All peripteries, related to the installation of the monument - table are described: a selection of options for the arrangement of elements, decoration, manufacturer and manufacturing techniques, coordination with various organizations, solving financing issues.

The value of vague ideas in the development of the periodic system of chemical elements

The exploration of chemical periodicity over the past 250 years led to the development of the Periodic System of Elements and demonstrates the value of vague ideas that ignored early scientific anomalies and instead allowed for extended periods of normal science where new methodologies and concepts are developed. The basic chemical element provides this exploration with direction and explanation and has shown to be a central and historically adaptable concept for a theory of matter far from the reductionist frontier. This is explored in the histories of Prout’s hypothesis, Döbereiner Triads, element inversions necessary when ordering chemical elements by atomic weights, and van den Broeck’s ad-hoc proposal to switch to nuclear charges instead. The development of more accurate methods to determine atomic weights, Rayleigh and Ramsey’s gas separation and analytical techniques, Moseley’s X-ray spectroscopy to identify chemical elements, and more recent accelerator-based cold fusion methods to create new elements at the end of the Periodic Table point to the importance of methodological development complementing conceptual advances. I propose to frame the crossover from physics to chemistry not as a loss of accuracy and precision but as an increased application of vague concepts such as similarity which permit classification. This approach provides epistemic flexibility to adapt to scientific anomalies and the continued growth of chemical compound space and rejects the Procrustean philosophy of reductionist physics. Furthermore, it establishes chemistry with its explanatory and operational autonomy epitomized by the periodic system of elements as a gateway to other experimental sciences.

MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN SISTEM PERIODIK UNSUR DENGAN KONSEP JEMBATAN KELEDAI MENGGUNAKAN TEKNOLOGI AUGMENTED REALITY BERBASIS ANDROID

Augmented Reality is a technology that unites the real world view with the virtual world in real time. Augmented Reality has been widely used in various fields, one of which is education. Augmented Reality can be used by students to make it easier to learn the periodic system. The mnemonic concept is a concept that is used to help students remember vocabulary information more quickly and easily. In this study, a learning media application for the periodic system of elements was developed using the mnemonic concept that utilizes Augmented Reality technology that can help students understand and remember material related to the periodic system of chemical elements. This application is made with Blender 3D software to create 3D atomic structure objects and their uses, Vuforia SDK and Unity 3D for building applications and marker detection. The final result of making this learning media application is Augmented Reality which can display 3D objects from the atomic structure and uses of these elements as well as mnemonic concepts from groups IA to VIIIA. This application uses a Markerless Based Tracking technique. From the tests that have been carried out on users, it is concluded that the applications built are suitable for use

Иерархическая классификация географических систем

A hierarchical system is the result of dividing a set of objects into subordinate groups in order from highest to lowest, where each lower level reveals and clarifies the properties of objects at a higher level. There is a difference between the natural hierarchy of geosystems-geochors and the hierarchy of geomers, which leads to taxonomic classification. Theoretical basis for creating a hierarchical classification of geosystems are developed using a conceptual model of geographical cycles of accumulation and removal of factor load on territorial objects of various scales. The cone of chorological and typological connections is considered as the basic metamodel of hierarchical structure. For its research, we use descriptive geometry tools to represent the cone in the vertical and horizontal (plan) projections. The surface and unfolding structures of the cone with sections at different levels reflect the hierarchy. The planned projection in the form of concentric structures is considered as model of the archetype of hierarchy formation. The horological and typological classifications converge in the position “natural zone” as the “parent core” of the type of natural environment, which represents the zonal norm. The concentric model has various interpretations, in particular, it is described as a system of local coordinates, where each coordinate corresponds to the categories of seriality of geosystems, i.e. the degree of their factoral-dynamic variability relatively to zonal geosystems. In the coordinate approach, the classification looks like a ranked set of merons and taxa, where the meron categories are represented by quantum numbers of the coordinate series, and the taxon is a sequence of such numbers of different series (numeric code). The formation of hierarchical classification is based on the triad principle, when the taxon of the upper level is divided into three lower level gradations, which are arranged in a homological series according to the degree of seriality. There is an analogy between the hierarchical structure of the periodic system of chemical elements and the typological classification of geosystems, when the periods of the system of elements correspond to the high-altitude layers and latitudinal zones of geochor placement or hierarchical levels of geomer classification. An unfolding and plan projection of the classification cone of facies for the Prichunsky landscape of the southern taiga of Central Siberia in three basic categories of variability of different levels geomers are presented.

This special volume contains the Proceedings of the XVII International Scientific Conference and the School of Young Scholars “Physical and Chemical Processes in Atomic Systems”. This forum was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of D.I. Mendeleev’s Periodic System of Chemical Elements. The conference was held in Moscow, Russian Federation from 28 to 30 October 2019.The organizers of the conference were• Institute of Nanotechnologies in Electronics, Spintronics, and Photonics at National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI”;• State Research Center of Russian Federation Troitsk Institute for Innovation and Fusion Research (“TRINITI”);• National Research Center “Kurchatov Institute”.This event has offered a platform in bringing together for students, postdocs, academics and industrial experts to exchange their ideas and contributing an integrative approach to research physical and chemical processes in various atomic systems. This event has been attended by more than 100 participants representing 33 organizations of Russia and foreign countries.The program of the conference consisted in oral invited lectures of the leading experts on selected topics and numerous posters for other participants.The wide range of fundamental and applied physical and chemical processes in various atomic systems has been undergone to consideration during the meeting. The main topics of the conference include the following tracks:Track 1: physics of separation processes, including separation of isotopes in rapidly rotating flows.Track 2: selective transport phenomena in membranes.Track 3: water treatment.Track 4: physics of surface and colloids.Track 5: extremal gas dynamics.Track 6: physical phenomena in porous medium.As is well known, the study of physical and chemical processes in numerous atomic systems requires using the diverse physical and chemical methods. This will explain why a fair amount of reports was focused on development of new techniques and instruments for the research of multiple phenomena in such systems.Note that some reports presented in these Proceedings have been considerably modified by their authors after discussion during presentations or in the lobby. The First Publication of Mendeleev’s Periodic System of Elements

This study explores the full set of handwritten and printed materials associated with the 1869 publication of the first version of Dmitrii Mendeleev’s periodic system of elements: “An Attempt at a System of Elements Based on Their Atomic Weight and Chemical Affinity.” Using innovative historical research methods, the author has been able to refute the publication date traditionally associated with the first version of the periodic table, as well as to establish an accurate chronology of its subsequent publications. This task was made possible through the discovery of previously unknown handwritten materials in Mendeleev’s personal archive and the Russian State Historical Archive. This typographical analysis of the first publication of Mendeleev’s periodic table represents a rare and unusual opportunity in the history of science: it gives us the chance to observe how, in the process of publishing the results of a scientific study, a researcher comes to realize that what he has discovered is, in fact, a major scientific breakthrough and begins to take the necessary steps toward establishing his scientific priority.

Analisis Materi Sistem Periodik Unsur Pada Buku Teks Kimia SMA/MA Kelas X

Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Objek penelitian ini adalah (1) Buku teks kimia SMA kelas X, penulis Unggul Sudarmo terbitan Erlangga tahun 2013 (2) Buku teks kimia SMA kelas X penulis Endang-Tarti Harjani terbitan PT. Wangsa Jatra Lestari tahun 2016. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menganalisis materi sistem periodik unsur pada masing-masing buku, menganalisis kesesuaian label konsep buku A terhadap buku B, analisis struktur makro wacana pada buku A dan B, analisis representasi kimia dan menganalisis label konsep buku A dab B terhadap Kurikulum 2013. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa Buku A dan B memiliki kesesuaian konsep yang cukup bagus terhadap Kurikulum 2013 dan hanya materi isotop, isoton, dan isobar yang tidak disajikan. Topik pada buku A yaitu Sistem Periodik Unsur, sedangkan pada buku B tabel periodik unsur. Pada buku A dan B sama-sama banyak memiliki kriteria representasi simbolik.
