Study and Performance Comparison of AODV and USOR

Privacy protection is important for some ad hoc networks in order to achieve privacy preserving routing. In this paper we emphasize and do comparison of two schemes Unobservable Secure On-Demand Routing Protocol(USOR) and AODV to provide and preserve privacy in adhoc networks. USOR is an unobservable, secure routing scheme which provides unlinkability and content unobservability for all the different type of packets. For this it uses a combination of group signature and id based encryption. USOR protects user privacy against both inside and outside attackers by defining stronger privacy requirements. After analysis it is found that the USOR results are improved as compared to AODV.

Performance Comparison of AODV, DSR and OLSR by Link Quality

최근 전술용 무전기와 MANET(Mobile Ad Hoc Network) 라우팅 기술들은 효율적인 데이터통신을 위해 고속화, 대용량화, 무선화 기술들을 요구하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 MANET 환경에서 전술무선 환경을 반영하고자 Friis Transmission Equation를 이용하여 L-Q(Link-Quality)모델을 제안하였으며, 이를 위한 성능검증은 AODV(Ad Hoc On Demand Vector Routing)를 이용하여 L-Q모델이 적용된 상황과 적용되지 않은 상황을 비교한 결과 성능의 차이를 확인할 수 있었다. 제안된 L-Q모델이 적용된 환경에서의 가장 적합한 MANET 라우팅프로토콜의 성능평가를 위해 AODV, DSR(Dynamic Source Routing)과 OLSR(Optimized Link State Routing) 등 3개의 라우팅 프로토콜을 선정하였으며, NS2.35를 이용하여 확인한 결과 Packet Delivery Ratio와 End-to-End Delay 측면에서 AODV가 DSR, OLSR 보다 전반적으로 우수하다는 것을 실험결과를 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

Performance Comparison of AODV, OLSR and ZRP Protocol in MANET using Grid Topology through QualNet Simulator

In MANET mobile nodes are communicating through wireless medium and do not require any pre-existent infrastructure. In MANET all mobile nodes behaves as router and when required they takes part in discovery and maintenance of the route to the other node. Without the fixed base station the mobile nodes dynamically exchange data among themselves. Popularity of MANET has been increased because of the availability of license-free wireless communication devices. MANET can be used for disaster-management, business meetings, military operations, rescue operations, or in a situation, where temporary communication network among some nodes is demanded. ZRP is a well known hybrid routing protocol. To understand its suitability we must understand its behavior under various real time conditions. This paper presents performance analysis of AODV routing protocol over OLSR and ZRP routing protocols using QualNet version 6.1. This experiment uses different network conditions, close to real time condition, for the performance analysis of AODV using OLSR and ZRP as a reference protocol. Simulations are carried out to analyze the different network parameters such as throughput, average jitter, average end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio.

Performance Comparison of AODV and DSR On-demand Routing Protocols for Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks

A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) is a collection of mobile wireless nodes, which communication to each other without any centralized control. These networks are characterized by a lack of infrastructure, and by a random and quickly changing network topology: thus the call for a strong dynamic routing protocol that can accommodate in such an environment is generated. In addition to this, routing protocols face many challenges like short battery backup, limited processing capability. This paper is an effort to study the performance of two on-demand routing protocols (AODV and DSR) in terms of number of routes selected, number of hop counts, number of RREQ packets and number of RREP packets. Simulation on QualNet shows that AODV compared with DSR reduces the number of hop count nodes, and AODV has less number of routes as compared to DSR, which helps AODV to be more efficient and less bulky. While comparing route request packets AODV is again better by having more number of RREQ packets as compared to DSR which made it more efficient in finding a new route and each time in replacing a stale link. Performance Comparison of AODV and DYMO MANET Protocols under Wormhole Attack Environment

A Mobile Ad-Hoc network, or MANET, is an infrastructure less, self-configuring network. All wireless devices in MANETs are connected through wireless links. Mobile wireless networks are more vulnerable to information and physical security threats than fixed wireless networks. Due to the use of open and shared broadcast wireless channel and due to insufficient physical protection, these networks are prone to security threats. These threats can endanger the overall functionality of mobile adhoc network. Various security threats show their impact at different layers. In this paper we have discussed some basic routing protocols. Different security attacks have also been discussed. We consider the wormhole attack as routing attack and based on simulation study we compare the impact of wormhole attack on AODV and DYMO MANET routing protocols. Performance Comparison of AODV, DSR and ANODR for Grid Placement Model

A mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is an autonomous collection of mobile devices that communicate over relatively bandwidth constrained wireless links. Since the nodes are mobile, the network topology may change rapidly and unpredictably over time. Two nodes that are out of one another’s transmission range need the support of intermediate nodes which relay messages to set up a communication between each other. This resulted in inventing different routing techniques classified as proactive, reactive and hybrid routing protocols. The reactive routing protocols got much significance because of their low storage requirements and high mobility. AODV and DSR are two such protocols which are being mostly used. The ANODR protocol is a relatively new concept which provides route anonymity and location privacy in addition to ondemand routing capability. In this paper we are exposing the performance of these three protocols in Grid node placement model using QualNet Simulator. General Terms This paper exposes the performance of AODV, DSR and ANODR while the nodes are placed in a Grid placement model.
