Satisfaction and readiness for professional activity of students of the Institute of Osteopathy (Saint-Petersburg): a study using the DREEM questionnaire

Introduction. The educational program is an important factor of the training quality of a future specialist in the modern system of medical personnel training. The most important indicator of the educational program quality is the educational environment that influences the formation of competencies and the students′ success. Measurements of the educational environment with the help of developed and validated tools make it possible to change it in many ways, which will eventually improve the quality of medical education. To date, the rapid educational environment assessment system developed at the University of Dundee (Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure, DREEM questionnaire) is considered as a valid and reliable tool that is universally accepted for measuring the medical educational environment, assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the educational environment according to the educational program under study and determining the direction of improving the educational environment. The aim of the study is to evaluate the perception of the educational environment by students of the Institute of Osteopathy (Saint-Petersburg) using the DREEM questionnaire. Materials and methods. The study involved 80 students of the Institute of Osteopathy (Saint-Petersburg), studying in residency or professional retraining programs. Participants were surveyed using the DREEM questionnaire, consisting of 50 closed-ended statements, which are grouped into 5 subcategories. I. Students′ perception of the learning process (12 statements). II. Students′ perception of the role of lecturers in the educational process (11 statements). III. Students′ perceptions of their own academic performance (8 statements). IV. Students′ perceptions of the educational atmosphere (12 statements). V. Social self-perception and interaction with the environment (7 statements). Each of the 50 statements is rated on a 5-point scale: «Strongly agree» (4), «Agree» (3), «Not sure» (2), «Disagree» (1) and «Strongly disagree» (0). Satisfaction analysis was also carried out for individual statements. Results. The analysis of information obtained using the DREEM questionnaire showed that the educational environment created at the Institute of Osteopathy (Saint-Petersburg) was rated by students as ideal — 165,2 points; doctors studying in the residency educational program rate the educational environment statistically significantly (p < 0,05) higher than those studying in the professional retraining program. Among the students studying in a residency program, the indicators of confidence in their readiness for professional activity are at a fairly high level — 3,5–3,7 points, while among the students studying in a professional training program, the indicators of confidence in their readiness for professional activity are at the level of 2–3,3 points. There are some indicators of the educational environment that require improvement. Conclusion. A detailed study of the level of the educational environment perception among students of the Institute of Osteopathy (Saint-Petersburg), studying in various educational programs, made it possible to identify the most problematic areas in the educational process implemented at the Institute, which makes it possible to develop proposals for improving the current educational environment. The issues of organizing social support for students and building confidence in their preparedness for practical activities deserve the greatest attention. It is also recommended to regularly conduct a study of the educational environment satisfaction among students of the Institute of Osteopathy to assess the dynamics of the indicators.

Examining nursing students’ perceptions of educational environment: Further validation of DREEM instrument

Background: Educational environment is an essential foundation for the effective learning process of students, which in turn contributes to the success of a curriculum. The evaluation of educational environment from students’ perception has been considered as an indicator for the quality improvement of higher education. This study aimed to explore the Vietnamese nursing students’ perception of educational environment and identify internal consistency reliability of the Vietnamese version of the (Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure) DREEM instrument. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 102 second-year undergraduate nursing students in a medical university. An online survey, including the 50-item DREEM questionnaire, was used to obtain student’s perception of learning environment. Results: The overall Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the V-DREEM in this study was 0.95 and five sub-scales ranged from 0.74 to 0.85, demonstrating that the V-DREEM instrument has good internal consistency reliability for measurement. The overall score of DREEM was 143.89/200 (SD =17.50), indicating a positive educational environment perceived. Fifty-eight percent (58%) of the items were rated high score, however, there were aspects perceived as problematic including teaching methods (The teaching is too teacher-centered), student-teacher interactions (The students irritate and annoy the teachers), and students’ learning approaches (I feel able to ask the questions I want). Conclusion: The study results suggested the specific areas, including teaching methods, student-teacher interactions, and students’ learning approaches, that need more attention to enhance the educational environment for nursing students in Vietnam where the reform of nursing education has eventuated recently.

Assessing the educational environment of baccalaureate nursing program as perceived by nursing students

This study aims at assessing the Educational Environment (EE) of the baccalaureate nursing programs as perceived by nursing students in public and private Iraqi Universities. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to examine the level of nursing students' perception of EE in baccalaureate program. The findings show that the general perception for nursing programs was more positive than negative with a total score of (135.42/200), while students’ perception of learning and teaching was very high with a mean score of (M=37+ 6.39); secondly, students’ perception of teachers moving in the right direction showed a mean score (M=28+5.3). The third domain was students’ academic self-perception, wherein students felt more on the positive side with a mean score of (M=20.4+4.52). The fourth domain was students’ perception of the atmosphere, where the students felt that there had a more positive atmosphere, with a mean score of (M=30.8+7.25). The fifth domain was students’ social self-perception, where also students had not too bad scores. The quality of an EE is considered an indicator of the effectiveness of an educational program on students’ learning. A positive perception of nursing students about the educational environment was concluded. This study will develop practical aspects in the nursing work environment and help nurses to be able to challenge work difficulties and refine their psychology.

Educational environment perception and cognitive load among physical therapy students during e-learning

Background: Understanding students' perception of the educational environment and their cognitive load in this context is crucial for optimizing the effectiveness of e-learning platforms. Objective: To compare educational environment perception and cognitive load in under-graduates Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and post-graduate Master in Science of Physical Therapy (MSPT) students having online learning experiences. Methodology: In this comparative cross-sectional study, data was collected through non-probability convenient sampling from n=274 under-graduates DPT (n=225) and post-graduates MSPT(n=49) students of either gender having one-semester experience of online learning, Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) for measuring educational environmental perception and Rating Scale of Mental Effort (RSME) for measurement of cognitive load. Online self-structured was developed questionnaire and shared through communication media platform and data analysis was made through SPSS version 28. Results: There were n=225 under-graduates (DPT) and n=49 post-graduates (MSPT) students in which, there were n=208 females and n=66 males. The overall DREEM score showed that MSPT students are more significantly positive (p<0.001, Cohen’s d=1.01) than DPT students regarding the perception of the educational environment with a large effect size. While there was no significant difference (p=0.114) between MSP and DPT students regarding cognitive load. Conclusion: Post-graduates (MSPT) students have better educational environmental perception than undergraduate (DPT) students but there was no significant difference in cognitive load in undergraduate (DPT) and post-graduates (MSPT) students. Background: A Educational environment can play a major role in the teaching learning process. In Competency Based Medical Education, there is a shift to student centred learning . Hence this study is being taken up to gain insights into students views on the teaching, learning, and learning environment. Using the Dundee Re Methods : ady Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire, we conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study at the Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam. The undergraduate rst-year students (n = 250) were given the DREEM inventory. We measured how students felt about learning, about their teachers, about themselves academically, about the environment, and about themselves socially. The results were presented as mean (standard deviation) and analysed using an independent t-test. Results:The mean score of overall DREEM questionnaire is 128.01±14.77and among males it is 127.39±15.45 and in females it is 128.82±14.20. Perceptions of Work and Educational Environment as Predictors of Burnout Among Residents During COVID-19 Pandemic

Objective: Burnout negatively affects personal well-being by reducing job-related satisfaction besides deeply affecting physician lives outside the working environment. This study aimed to determine residents’ burnout levels and related psychosocial risk factors regarding the work and educational environment during the COVID-19 pandemic at a university hospital. Material and Method: Data were collected using an online questionnaire consisting of questions screening the participants’ sociodemographic, clinical and, educational characteristics and the following scales; Postgraduate Hospital Educational Environment Measure (PHEEM), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES). Results: Of the 632 residents receiving postgraduate education in clinical fields at the university, 99 (15.7%) participated in study, 77 (77.8%) of which reported that they were from medical branches and 12 (12.1%) from surgical branches.The emotional exhaustion (EE) dimension of burnout emerged as the most strongly related dimension with perceptions of the educational environment (PHEEM) (p<0,001, r=-0,548). The depersonalization (DP) dimension was only moderately associated with the perception of low role autonomy (p=0,006, r=-0,273). The low personal achievement (LPA) dimension of burnout, on the other hand, showed a moderate-high correlation with all the components related to the educational environment and showed the most substantial relationship with the perception of low social support (p<0,001, r=-0,372). Decrease in the organizational commitment with the departments and institutions where residents received training and worked was associated with higher levels of burnout and low self-esteem. 30.7% of the participants perceive their health as moderate/poor, and scored higher in all dimensions of burnout (EE p<0,001, DP p=0,001, LPA p=0,001). Conclusion: In this study, we found that residents’ perceptions about the educational environment are the variables most closely related to their burnout levels. With precautions, residents may be protected from burnout-related physical and mental diseases while academic efficiency increases and the healthcare service become more qualified.

Association of perception of educational environment and self-esteem in students at medical college.

Objectives: To verify the association of perception of educational environment and self-esteem of third year and fourth year students at Sahiwal Medical College. Study Design: Correlational study. Setting: Sahiwal Medical College, Sahiwal. Period: February 2019 to September 2019. Material & Methods: Convenient nonprobability sampling technique was used. All the students of third and fourth year MBBS were included. Students migrated from other medical colleges and who did not give consent were excluded. Rosenberg self-esteem scale questionnaire was used to measure self-esteem of students. Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) Scale questionnaire was used to measure student’s perception of education environments. Spearman’s rank-order correlation statistics was computed to determine association between self-esteem and perception of educational environment. Results: There were 97(49.5%) third year and 99(50.5%) fourth year students. There were 68(34.7%) male and 128(65.3%) female students. Self-esteem score was less than 15 in 36(18.4%) students while score was 15 and above in 160(81.6%) students. Mean DREEM score was 108.34±24.02. Correlation of DREEM score with Rosenberg self-esteem score was 0.306 at significance level of 0.000. Students’ perception of teaching was the lowest scored subscale (50.9%) and students’ academic self-perception was the highest scored subscale (58.21%). Conclusion: Students had high self-esteem and positive perception of educational environment. There was a positive correlation between perception of educational environment and self-esteem of students. An insight about the strengths and weakness of the educational environment was provided.

Background: The Dundee ready education environment measure (DREEM) inventory is a useful tool to identify the student’s perception of the educational environment at the medical colleges. Aims and Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate and compare the perception of educational environment of 1st and 2nd year undergraduate medical students of SBH Government Medical College Dhule, using DREEM inventory. Materials and Methods: Eighty-six students of 1st year and 92 students of 2nd year MBBS participated in this study. DREEM questionnaire was given to the students in a classroom after the scheduled routine teaching sessions by the teachers. Students were instructed to indicate best response for each item given in DREEM questionnaire. Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel. Results: The mean score of 1st year student for each domain was comparatively higher than the score of 2nd year students. Items that have a mean score of 3.5 or over were considered to be real positive points. Items with a mean between 2 and 3 were aspects of the great concern that could be improve. Items with a mean of 2 or less indicate problem areas. The overall DREEM score was 141.96 (70.87%). However, there were no significant differences in the overall DREEM score of 1st and 2nd year students. The overall DREEM score of 1st and 2nd year students was 141.96 (70.87%). Conclusions: DREEM is a useful tool to assess the educational environment and to give a clear indication of the education environment perception of medical students. Perception of Current Educational Environment, Clinical Competency, and Depression among Malaysian Medical Students in Clinical Clerkship: A Cross-Sectional Study

The COVID-19 pandemic has altered the educational environment of medical students in clinical clerkship, with potential impacts on clinical competency and reported increased prevalence of depression. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the perception of the educational environment, self-perceived clinical competency, and depression among them. Subjects (N = 196) at the National University of Malaysia participated through convenience sampling in an online survey including sociodemographic data, COVID-19-related stressors, Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM), self-perceived clinical competency, and Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9). The cut-off point for depression was a PHQ-9 score ≥ 15. Multiple logistic regression followed bivariate analyses to identify factors for depression. The participants (mean age: 23.2 years, SD ± 0.98 years) were mainly female (71.9%) and Malay (59.2%). The prevalence of depression was 17.4% (95% CI: 12.3-23.4%). Most participants perceived the educational environment positively. In logistic regression, ethnicity (Adjusted OR = 3.1, 95% CI: 1.2-8.1) and DREEM score were significantly associated with depression, whereas self-perceived clinical competency was not. A higher DREEM score indicating a better perception of the educational environment was linked to a lower likelihood of depression (p = 0.046). Besides ethnicity, perception of the educational environment emerged as a factor associated with depression. This relationship between the educational environment and mental well-being warrants further exploration.

Validation of the sociopolitical control scale for youth amongBrazilian juvenile offenders in rehabilitation.

Empowerment theories provide the conceptual framework to understand the process of change among marginalized groups in rehabilitation. Sociopolitical control is an element of the intrapersonal component of psychological empowerment (PE). The current study analyzes the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Sociopolitical Control Scale for Youth (SPCS-Y) in a sample of institutionalized young male offenders (N = 190) and examines its relationships with well-being, perception of educational environment, self-efficacy, and drug consumption. The results of the confirmatory factor analysis supported the two-dimensional structure of the SPCS-Y (leadership competence and policy control). Linear regression models indicated that consumption of drugs contribute positively to leadership competence, and policy control was explained by well-being, positive perception of educational environment, and enlisting social support. The results are consistent with previous studies from other countries and indicate that the SPCS-Y is a valid measure to assess sociopolitical control among adolescents in rehabilitation. Additionally, theoretical implications and directions for practice are discussed in the paper.

Anesthesia students’ perception of the educational environment and academic achievement at Debre Tabor University and University of Gondar, Ethiopia: a comparative cross-sectional study

BackgroundExcellence in Anesthesia education has been advocated to meet the current and future needs of the society. Educational environment plays significant role in determining students’ learning and academic achievement. This study assessed the perception of Anesthesia students on their educational environment and it association with their academic achievement at Debre Tabor University and University of Gondar.MethodsA comparative cross-sectional study design was employed on 3rd and 4th year students. Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) was used to assess students’ perception on their educational environment. Perceived performance, Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and 100 MCQ items were used to assess the academic achievement of the students. An independent t-test was used to assess the differences in the perception of educational environment and academic achievements. Bivariate and multivariable linear regressions were fitted to assess the relationship between perception on educational environment and academic achievement. A P-value of less than 0.05 was used to declare the statistical significance.ResultA total of 123 students (91 from University of Gondar and 32 from Debre Tabor University) were participated on this study. The study showed no statistically significant differences between the groups on the perception of students on the educational environment on DREEM total and subscale scores, and academic achievements. However, there were statistically significant differences in some items of the educational environment measures. On multivariable linear regression; entrance exam result, students’ perception of teachers, students’ academic self –perception and students’ social self-perception showed positive correlation with students’ academic achievement (ß = 0.003 & P = 0.04, ß = 0.009 & P = 0.9, ß = 0.06 & P = 0.42, ß = 0.06 & P = 0.39, ß = 0.14 & P = 0.015 and ß = 0.13 & P = 0.023) respectively.ConclusionThe perception of students on the educational environment was found to be more positive and there was no statistically significant differences in total and domains of DREEM scores and academic achievement of students between the two institutions. Entrance exam result and more positive perception of the educational environment were positively associated with academic achievement of students.

Medical Students’ Perception of Organization and Informatization of Teaching During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Background and aim: Outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had big impact on higher education system. To prevent spreading of the disease, distance learning was organised. The aim of this research was to assess medical students’ perception of quality of educational process during the COVID-19 pandemic.Respondents and methods: Online research was conducted during May 2021 on 142 students of fourth, fifth and sixth year of School of Medicine University of Zagreb. This research was conducted using Questionnaire for Assessing Quality of Distance Learning in Biomedicine Studies. It consists of 28 items which are rated using 7-point Likert scale and are distributed in six subscales. All statistical analyses were conducted using IBM® SPSS® Statistics for Windows (Version 25.0).Results: Statistically significant difference was found in Perception of Teachers’ Work between fourth and sixth year (p = 0.012), as well as Perception of Educational Environment and Personal Academic Achievements between fourth and fifth, and fourth and sixth year of study (p < 0.001). The lowest mean for all subscales was found in fourth year, except subscales Perception of Personal Academic Activity (3.51 ± 1.32) and Perception of Equipment Quality (6.22 ± 1.04). The highest mean was found in sixth year for subscales Perception of Distance Learning Organization (3.47 ± 1.04), Perception of Cooperation (4.39 ± 1.04) and Perception of Teachers’ Work (4.73 ± 0.96). For subscales Perception of Educational Environment and Personal Academic Achievements and Perception of Equipment Quality, the highest mean was found in the fifth year (5.42 ± 1.14 and 6.28 ± 1.01, respectively). Majority of students were satisfied with equipment quality and Internet connection they used, however most of them (N = 68, 47.9 %) thought that teachers were not qualified enough to use tools for online teaching.Conclusion: The highest quality of educational process was perceived by sixth-year (64.9 % of the total score), and the lowest by fourth-year medical students (58.7 % of the total score). Teachers should continue with their education in order to maximize the use of digital technology in achieving educational outcomes, especially in biomedical area.

Nursing Students’ Perception of the Educational Environment in a Public University in Ahvaz, Iran: A Study Based on DREEM Questionnaire

Background: Students’ perception of educational environment is an important factor in evaluating the quality of education as it provides invaluable resources to identify the strengths and weaknesses of educational environment. However, there is a paucity of information regarding the educational environment from the perceptions of nursing students in Iran.Purpose: This study aimed to investigate nursing students’ perception of the educational environment and compare the male and female students’ perceptions of the educational environment in a public university in Ahvaz, Iran.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 130 nursing students in a public university in Ahvaz, Iran, using the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire. Convenient sampling was used to recruit the samples. Descriptive statistics and independent t-test were used for data analysis.Results: The overall mean (SD) DREEM score in this study was 105.01(22.00), indicating a more positive educational environment than negative. The highest mean (SD) DREEM score was related to Students’ Perceptions of Learning domain 24.03(6.01), while the lowest one was related to Students’ Social Self-Perceptions domain 14.01(4.00). The female students showed significantly better mean score in the domains of Students’ Academic Self-Perception and Students’ Social Self-Perception than males (p<0.05).Conclusion: The students’ perception of their educational environment is a positive and optimistic one. Therefore, it is suggested that students’ perceptions of the educational environment be measured regularly, for instance, at the end of each academic year, to create a healthy and effective environment for learning in the educational environment.

Students\u2019 perception of educational environment based on Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure and the role of peer mentoring: a cross-sectional study

ObjectiveThe curricular reform at Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Iran, has been implemented since 2011 when peer mentoring program started. The program is believed to have a crucial role in students’ perception of the educational environment (EE). We aimed to determine how students perceive the educational environment and compared the mentees and non-mentees’ perception of EE.MethodsA cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among 190 first-year medical students enrolling at Tehran University of Medical Sciences from March to September 2019. A questionnaire was used to collect information on students’ age, gender, marital status, dormitory status, and their mentoring status including satisfaction of mentor-mentee relationship. The study also employed Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM). The collected data were then entered and analysed using SPSS version 20. To compare the perception of EE between mentees and non-mentees, we used independent t-test.ResultsThe mean (SD) for total DREEM score for EE was 144.1 (19.3), which signifies a more positive than negative educational environment perception. Nonetheless, the mean scores of total DREEM was not significantly different between students with or without mentors (P =0.390). The overall mean score for student perceptions of learning for mentees was 32.47 (4.5) while for those without a mentor, the score was 31.70 (4.9) (P =0.491). The items concerned with “emphasizing factual learning” and “teacher-based teaching” were rated the least. The item “having an appropriate support system” was scored significantly different between students with or without mentors (P =0.009).ConclusionsSince having an appropriate support system was significantly different between groups, we suggest curriculum designers focus on the above-mentioned issue under caption for improvement during the reform programs.

Students Dreem From Pre-Clinical To Clinical Years-A Cross Sectional Analysis From Rehman Medical College, Peshawar.

Educational environment is a key indicator of student learning and reflects quality of education and curriculum. With the boom of medical colleges in the private sector, parents put great stress on education and educational environment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in perceptions regarding educational environment between pre-clinical and clinical year MBBS students and to determine year wise strengths and weaknesses of the MBBS program. The study utilized the cross-sectional study design and employed, "Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire. The survey included 142 pre-clinical (1st and 2nd year MBBS) and 185 clinical students (3rd to Final year MBBS). The total DREEM score for the program was 119/200. Total score for pre-clinical years was 120/200 and that for clinical years was 118/200. There was no statistically significant difference between students' perceptions of pre-clinical and clinical years. When the sub scale analysis was done, perceptions of learning (POL) (p=0.007), perceptions of teachers (POT) (p=0.003) and social self-perception (SSP) (p=0.025) scales showed statistically significant difference between pre-clinical and clinical years. Academic self-perception (ASP) and perceptions of atmosphere (POA) showed no statistically significant difference. About the educational environment perception students regarded it as more positive than negative. Pre-clinical students were more satisfied than clinical students except for SSP scale. Students pointed out weaknesses in the curriculum especially for teaching and learning and in the atmosphere, more so for clinical students than pre-clinical students. Findings of this study guide that emphasis shall be put on teaching development and CME activities and regular feedback mechanisms for both students and faculty members.

Perception of educational environment as a predictor of academic performance in physiotherapy students.

BACKGROUND:Students' perception of their academic environment has a substantial influence on their actions, academic accomplishments, satisfaction, goal attainment, and behavior. The study was carried out to evaluate the perception of academic environment in physiotherapy students, and to identify the specific domains which could act as predictors of academic performance.MATERIALS AND METHODS:This descriptive, cross-sectional research was conducted over 12 months using total population sampling. Three hundred and forty-three (139 postgraduate and 204 final year) final year and postgraduate physiotherapy students from five colleges of Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, who conformed to the inclusion benchmarks, participated in the study. Perception of educational environment was evaluated using Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM). Academic performance was evaluated using the percentage obtained in the last university examination. Data were entered in MS Excel (©Microsoft, USA) and converted to Stata Version 15.1© StataCorp, College Station, for further analysis. The mean values and standard deviations for perception of educational environment were calculated and linear regression models were used to conduct multivariate analysis for each item in the questionnaire.RESULTS:The mean total DREEM score of physiotherapy students was 129.97 ± 22.72. Students whose Students' Academic Self-perception scores were in the “Feeling more on the positive side” category showed a 4.17 point increase in percentage scores as compared with those who reported feeling like a total failure/had many negative aspects to their academic self-perception (95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.46, 5.89; P < 0.001). Students whose Students' Perception of Learning (SPoL) scores were in the “Teaching highly thought of” category showed a 2.75 point increase in percentage scores as compared with those who viewed teaching poorly/negatively (95% CI: 0.44, 5.06; P = 0.02).CONCLUSION:Physiotherapy students had a “more positive than negative” view of the academic environment; however, a few “problematic areas” need to be remediated. Efforts to improve students' academic self-perception may improve their academic performance since this was the strongest predictor of their academic performance, followed by total DREEM scores and SPoL.

Perception of educational environment with an assessment of motivational learning strategies and emotional intelligence as factors affecting medical students' academic achievement

This study aimed to investigate how medical students perceive their educational environment, as well as the implications of motivation, learning strategies, and the factor of emotional intelligence on academic achievement. In a cross-sectional study, 3384 undergraduate students were recruited from randomly selected Egyptian medical colleges. Students from second to final year, taking fundamental and clinical courses and, at a minimum, three professional exams, were enrolled and subjected to the Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure scale, the Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire, and Emotional intelligence questionnaire. The overall mean age of the studied students was 21.42 ± 1.61 years. Females represented 63.5%, rural residents were 52.2% and students with enough income represented 88.0%. The traditional system adopted 28.4% of the students versus 71.6% in the integrated system. Linear regression using path analysis was conducted to study the predictors of academic achievement, and it revealed that motivation was the highly significant predictor of academic achievement (β = 2.68, CI95%:2.35-3.05, P < 0.001), followed by learning (β = 1.09, CI95%:0.80-1.41, P < 0.001), emotional intelligence (β = 0.92, CI95%:0.87-0.97, P < 0.001), and the educational environment (β = 0.14, CI95%:0.13-0.15, P < 0.001). The study's findings have implications for medical educators trying to understand the personal factors that influence learning and performance in medical school. Students' motivation was the highly significant predictor of academic achievement followed by learning, emotional intelligence, and educational environment. Perception of the learning environment had improved because of the integrated student-centered system, which fosters motivation and emotional intelligence. To improve learners' EI, optimal learning, and educational outcomes, the EI components can be taught and fostered.
