Socialization of Apis Cerana Honey Bee Cultivation to Improve the Economy of the Kanagarian Community Malai Iii Koto Sungai Geringging Padang Pariaman

The Apis cerana honey bee is a natural resource that may be developed for beekeeping in Nagari Malai III Koto, Sungai Geringging District, Padang Pariaman, West Sumatra. The potential of these bees is developed, either as a single business as a honey producer or integrated with various types of plants. The main supporting factors for Apis cerana beekeeping are the presence of bee colonies found in people's gardens and the availability of abundant food throughout the year produced by plantation, fruit, and forestry crops. In addition, there are human resources from academics and professionals scattered in various regions. The prospect of Apis cerana honey beekeeping needs to be socialized to the farming community through counseling so that the potential of Apis cerana bees can be maximized. The socialization was carried out by means of counseling and demonstration methods to farmers and their families as the target audience and accompanied by the government of Nagari Malai III Koto. The results obtained that socialization carried out by extension and demonstration methods could disseminate information, increase the knowledge and interest of farmers and farming families about Apis cerana honey beekeeping

How can gastronomy impact the social change of a vulnerable population assisted by social programs? The case of Brazilian social gastronomy

Social gastronomy is a topic studied in recent years, mainly due to the continuous emergence of organizations categorized within this concept during the economic crisis and pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. However, very little research has been done on the team associated with social gastronomy. And in Brazil, this movement has been growing in recent years, highlighting here in this work a social project in partnership with the university in a peripheral neighborhood of one of the largest metropolises in Brazil, Fortaleza. The Federal University of Ceará Social Gastronomy Program (Gastronomia Social UFC), an extension program of the Federal University of Ceará, promotes qualification courses for young people and adults, residents of the city of Fortaleza-CE, especially in the neighborhoods that make up the Grande Bom Jardim (Canindezinho, Bom Jardim, Siqueira, Granja Portugal, and Granja Lisboa), in communities whose population is prone to social risks, since this entire area has a high level of violence and a low HDI. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the social impacts of the courses offered by the Social Gastronomy Program in People's Garden in 2019. The research was qualitative, quantitative, exploratory, and descriptive, carried out between February and March of 2021 through an electronic form with a sample of 51 students participating in the courses. The results showed that the courses promoted favorable social impacts for the community and provided opportunities to improve the quality of life, skills, and techniques in gastronomy, fulfilling a role commonly expected by the extension of the Federal University of Ceará.

he rise of criminal acts of theft of oil palm plantations is mainly due to law enforcement that is not firm in the sense that it cannot have a deterrent effect on perpetrators of criminal acts. This is because many of the theft cases have a value of less than Rp. 2,500,000, so it is considered a minor crime. This causes people who have lost most of their livelihoods to feel frustrated, causing some people to lose their minds by taking vigilante actions. Based on this, the formulation of the problem in this study: 1) What are the legal rules regarding theft after the issuance of Perma No. 2 of 2012 in Indonesia. 2) How to steal people's oil palm plantations afterithe issuanceiof Perma No. 2 of 2012 in the Legal Area of Hinai Police, Langkat Regency. 3) How to prevent the loss of smallholder oil palm plantations due to theft of plantation produce which is categorized as a minor crime. The research method used is descriptive method, while the data analysis technique uses qualitative. The results of the study show that the legal regulations regarding light theft after the issuance of Perma Number 2 of 2012 in Indonesia are increasingly less strict. This is because the criminal threa in Article 364 of the Criminal Code, which is only 3 months old, means that suspects or defendants of minor crimes cannot be subject to detention, and the examination procedure used is a quick examination procedure. If referring to the provisions in the Criminal Code and Perma No. 2 of 2012 concerning the limits of adjustmen for minor crimes, then the act is categorized as a minor crime However, if the Plantation Law is used, the perpetrator of a crime will be subject to a threat of 4 years in prison. The police as law enforcer basically do not agree with the issuance of Perma No. 2 of 2012. Theft of people's oil palm plantations after the issuance of Perma No. 2 of 2012 in the Legal Territory of the Hinai Police, Langkat Regency, has long been a concern considering the losses caused to oil palm farmers. However, the handling of the perpetrators of the theft of people's garden products tends to be done by mediating, namely seeking so that the victims of theft can get proper compensation for the crops stolen by the perpetrators. The ways that can be done to prevent losses to oil palm plantation farmers due to the theft of their plantation products are: excluding the theft of people's plantation products from minor crimes by implementing the Plantation Law, carrying out strict law enforcement against gardeners who have been harmed by ninja, and urging the farming community to supervise their gardens more by collaborating among farming communities to narrow the space for thieves.

Psidium cattleyanum (Myrtaceae) invasions in South Africa: Status and prognosis

• Detailed current and potential distribution of Psidium cattleyanum in South Africa is presented. • The species is self-sustaining with evidence of spread. • The population in the Western Cape is the first substantial invasive population reported from a temperate winter-rainfall region globally. • Recommendations for regulating P. cattleyanum in South Africa are provided. Psidium cattleyanum (Myrtaceae) is a widespread invasive species in several countries, particularly on oceanic islands. The species was first recorded in South Africa in 1948 and has since established self-sustaining populations. We present the first comprehensive evaluation of the invasiveness of P. cattleyanum in South Africa by: 1) mapping the current distribution of the species; 2) estimating its potential range using species distribution models in MaxEnt; 3) analysing the risk posed to South Africa using the risk analysis for alien taxa framework; and 4) developing recommendations for regulation. Psidium cattleyanum was recorded at 52 sites in four provinces across South Africa, with the population in the Western Cape being the first substantial invasive population reported from a temperate winter-rainfall region globally. Invasive populations were assessed in detail at four sites: Newlands Forest (Western Cape; n=2193 plants; covering ∼12 ha), Eshowe (KwaZulu-Natal; n=1561, ∼7.6 ha), Southbroom (KwaZulu-Natal; n = 449, ∼2.9 ha), and George (Western Cape; n=214, ∼2.4 ha). At all four sites the species is self-sustaining and there is evidence of spread. In South Africa, the east coast is climatically suitable for the species to expand its range. Although damaging invasions of P. cattleyanum have only been recorded on several islands to date, we find no reason to suggest that climatically suitable continental regions (including parts of South Africa) will not suffer harmful impacts if invasions progress unmanaged. As such, we support the current regulation of P. cattleyanum in South Africa, whereby the species must be controlled as part of a national management plan (category 1b) noting that while it is advisable to ban cultivation, the forcible removal of plants from people's gardens should perhaps only be prioritised if such plantings clearly pose a high risk (i.e., in climatically suitable regions near to riparian areas or natural areas).

The Challenge of Realizing Sustainable River Ecotourism to Improve Human Welfare and Protect Biodiversity in Indonesia

Abstract Ecotourism is ecologically sustainable tourism that focuses on managing nature to encourage understanding, appreciation, and conservation of the environment and culture. This paper analyzes the benefits of river ecosystems in Indonesia to improve human welfare and protect biodiversity through river ecotourism management towards sustainable living. Forms of river ecotourism that have been developed in Indonesia are white water rafting, observation of various flora and fauna, potential development in residential areas as an agenda for tracing and people's gardens, and making river flows an educational tourism idea. Realizing sustainable living river ecotourism can be done by diversifying tourism products. The success of river ecotourism is determined by three components, namely tourism performance, quality of tourism experience, and sustainable tourism. Efforts that can be made for sustainable living ecotourism such as holding innovative online courses for ecotourism managers and measuring the ecological footprint of ecotourism products.

ANALYSIS OF FARM CASSAVA PARTNERSHIP IN THE VILLAGE OF GREAT PUDDING BESAR DISTRICT OF BANGKA

This study aims to describe the implementation of the partnership farming Cassava Village Pudding Besar District of pudding Big Bangka, analyze the differences in average income that is obtained by farmers from various partnership schemes cassava in the village Pudding Besar District of pudding Big Bangka, analyzed the factors - factors that influence farmers' decision in choosing partners and not partner with partnership cassava farm in the village of Great pudding pudding Large District of Bangka. This study was conducted in January 2019 until January 2020 in the village of Great Pudding Pudding Large District of Bangka. The method used is survey method. Penrikan method used example is a method of quota sampling with a sample of two groups of 40 people and the partnering farmers do not partner 40 people. Methods of data analysis using descriptive qualitative, quantitative analsisis (independent sample t-test, binary logistic regression). The results showed the implementation of partnership farming patterns occurring in the village of Great Pudding is a partnership with the name intiplasma KSR Program (Cassava People's Gardens). There is a real difference but not significant, the average income of Rp 32,384,718 partner farmers, while the non- partner farmers Rp 36,751,056 with the difference in the average income of farmers partner and non- partner Rp 4,366,388 per year. Factors that significantly affect farmers' decisions in partnering and partnering as age and availability of capital.

Based on the analysis of data it can be concluded that the level of public participation against KBR, according to the analysis of the data obtained are significantly lower, in which there were nine respondents who have a high participation rate and the 25 respondents who have a low value of participation. So that the average level of community participation amount to 62.37% of 34 respondents. From the analysis using the Kruskal Wallis test is processed using the note, the six factors that influence people's participation there is the People's Garden Seeds, there are two factors that significantly affect people's participation is the sex of the χ2 count (15 007)> χ2 table 1: 0.05 (3841) and work with the χ2 count (7341)> χ2 table 1: 0.05 (3841).

Healthy Gardens, Healthy Youth

Describe the development and implementation of an Educational Toolkit (ET) employed in the Healthy Gardens, Healthy Youth People's Garden School Pilot Project, a 4-state, 2-year USDA-funded research project (n=4,000) to assess whether school gardens promote fruit and vegetable (FV) intake among elementary school students. Elementary School youth grades 2-6 Based on social learning theory, the ET uses observational and hands-on learning to promote FV consumption, nutritional knowledge, and STEM skills (science, technology, engineering and math) through gardening. Designed for students in grades 2, 4, and 5 during the project's first year, and grades 3, 5 and 6 during the second year, the ET consists of 40 lessons to guide schools through two seasons of gardening. Extension specialists from the four collaborating universities reviewed 17 curricula, numerous garden implementation tools and other materials to select appropriate resources to support this project. YouTube videos, pre-recorded webinars and other downloadable resources make efficient use of technology by providing clear and consistent on-line training for educators from coast to coast. Data collected over an 18-month period included teacher, child and parent surveys. A total of 1041 lessons were delivered in 24 schools, 289 classrooms, reaching approximately 2500 students. There was considerable variability in ET implementation, with an average of 60% of lessons were delivered. The ET provides resources for teachers, administrators and school nutrition professionals to help them implement and utilize school gardens to promote FV intake.

Prediction of Erosion Rate at Several Land Units in Upper Watershed of Batang Mangau, West Sumatera

Assessment of erosion in a watershed is very important for the purpose of determining whether a watershed has been degraded and damaged or not, so it is useful for the planning of the future for the watershed areas so as to achieve sustainable land use and environmentally friendly.Study of erosion prediction and mapping erosion hazard rate (TBE), and determine the rate of erosion that can be tolerated in a variety of land units, and determining alternative land use followed by the appropriate conservation measures in order to suppress erosion as small as possible or equal to Etol (tolerable erosion ) has conducted research on upstream Mangau Padang Pariaman and Agam districts. The study lasted in September 2011 until January 2012. The experiment was conducted using the survey method. Secondary data obtained from statistical data, maps and the results of previous researches. The results showed that the greatest erosion occurs in people's gardens land units with steep slopes (KrF), with a percentage of 62% slope and slope length of 45 m. While the smallest erosion occurs in wetland units with a gentle slope (SWB), the percentage of 7% slope and slope length of 28 m. Land units experiencing mild erosion rate is 37.80%, of the total study area. Then the land units suffered heavy erosion rate is as much as 20.81%, and further land experiencing very severe erosion hazard level is sebayak 37.86% of the total study area. Actual erosion rate greater than can be tolerated erosion found 4 unit of land is the garden of the people with a rather steep slope (KrD), mixed garden with a rather steep slope (KcD), and their fields with steep slopes (KrF). Furthermore, there are 8 land unit value erosion rate is less than the erosion rates that can be tolerated so that the use of the land does not need changing. Alternative use of land for every land units that have greater erosion speed of the tolerable erosion is the land units of protected forest with steep slopes (HlF), the secondary forest with steep slopes (HsF). Whereas, the land unit of rice paddy soil with relatively steep slopes (SwD), rice paddy soil with gentle slopes (SwB), scrub with relatively steep slopes (SmD), scrub with steep slopes (SmF) and farm people with mild slopes (KrB) fixed defended. Furthermore, the alternative use of the land for the unit of farm people with steep slopes (KrF) and farm people with relatively steep slopes (KrD) and a mixture of garden soil units with relatively steep slopes (KcD) is recommended for improved by adding high density mixed garden and make bench terrrace with good construction and land cover tightly coupled.

Plant traits link people's plant preferences to the composition of their gardens

Gardens are ubiquitous in western cities, comprising up to a third of the total urban area and often containing a majority of the vegetation present. Gardens are the cumulative result of many individual plant choices, yet we know relatively little about the role of preference in these choices. We investigated peoples’ preference for different garden plants and reasons for plant choices using a postal questionnaire (n=224) containing 30 colour photos of garden plants and questions about gardening behaviour. Preferences were compared with the plants growing in the gardens of 48 randomly selected respondents. Objectively measured plant traits were used to relate preferences to the plants growing in people's gardens. Significant relationships were found between survey responses and both the traits and taxonomy of plants growing in respondent gardens. The results also show that people's preferences are very diverse, and that these preferences were related both to aesthetic traits such as flower size, leaf width and foliage colour, and non-visual traits such as nativeness and drought tolerance. Together these findings provide evidence that garden floras have responded to their social environment, and suggests that the very high levels of diversity observed in gardens can in part be attributed to the heterogeneity observed in this social environment.

This illustrated history of the English garden traces gardens from the medieval monastic garden to the modern plot stocked from the ubiquitous garden centre. It traces the development of garden design, influenced by the varied uses and concepts of the garden through the ages - from the physician's herb garden through the formal theatrical gardens of Tudor and Stuart times, the 18th-century pleasure garden to the Victorian and Edwardian gardener's garden. The growth of science in the garden, the introduction and propagation of exotic plants from abroad and the rise of the nursery industry and media coverage of horticulture are all discussed. Throughout, the author shows how the grand parks and formal gardens of the rich have influenced the ideas and techniques of the more modest gardener and shows how we have gradually become a nation of obsessive gardeners and more recently of weekend observers of other people's gardens.

From these are produced the end products, ranging from fill as the most unsophisticated, through lean-mix and cement stabilized bases, to tar- and bitumen-bound base courses and asphalt wearing courses; also concrete for rigid pavements and for structures ancillary to the road itself. It is important to realise that, in this country, the quarrying industry itself produces and distributes these end products. MY CHILDHOOD WAS SPENT in an upstairs flat in a London suburb and apart from enjoyable days during the First World War watching my father cultivate his allotment I grew up with little experience of the skills of gardening. It has all had to be learnt by poring over books, picking up hints from gardeners, observing other people's gardens and by experimenting and learning by trial and error. Over the years my gardening bookshelf has become filled with much thumbed volumes that have grown into well‐loved friends. The older I grow the more I realize that gardening can only be learnt by experience, by knowing your soil, the corners of your garden where the sun shines all day or where the damp collects, where there are patches of clay or where the convolvulus and mare's‐tail will appear year after year however rigorously the weeding is done. But every year with the changing seasons I take down the old books and refresh my memory over small details of times of planting, depths, spacing, or proportions for potting composts. In recent years as chemical aids and labour saving devices flood the market I know that I shall not be able to find out about hormone rooting powders, peat pots or insecticides from my books but I can borrow those I need from the local library. I have come to prize my gardening bookshelf more for the memories it brings me of hours spent in our family garden than for the practical content.
