The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognosis of AP in obese animals after using PFPF. Male wistar rats obese by overnutrition lactation, was inoculated at 90 days with 5% sodium taurocholate (biliopancreatic duct) for induction of AP. Obese and control groups were divided: control; simulation AP (CSP), AP (CP) and AP with use of PFPF suspension (40mg) (CP40); obese, simulation AP (OSP), AP (OP), and AP with PFPF (40mg) (OP40). Body and liver weight, total body fat, was higher in obese than controls (p <0.001). Blood glucose levels at five hours after simulated AP operation and AP groups was higher compared to the first hour before of surgery (p <0.05). However, OP40 and CP40, there was a reduction in blood glucose compared to OP and CP (p <0.05) Glucose (mg/dL) Hours (h) 0 5 6 CSP 117 ± 11,7 289,02 ± 2,50 β 268,00 ± 41,70 β CP 116,88 ± 9,57 351,50 ± 36,90 γ c 337, 83 ± 40,15 γ c CP40 125, 65 ± 9,20 200,30 ± 38,82 c 150,70 ± 21,15 a OSP 161, 14 ± 3,40 464, 50 ± 12,50 a b c 333, 20 ± 41,70 a b c OP 141,30 ± 9,57 396,50 ± 36,90 b c 381,83 ± 23,15 b c OP40 152,14 ± 2,40 327,60 ± 23,4 a b c 214,30 ± 44,30 b c . OP and CP presented an increase in pancreatic islet and cell infiltrate . After treatment, OP40 and CP40, demonstrated improve in the pancreas size. Despite the lower levels of the cytokine IL-6 in OP40 in relation to the OP; and increased concentration of IL-10 in OP40 than OSP and OP, there was no difference (p = 0.08). Statistical Significance Two-Way ANOVA, Tukey post-test (p 蠄 0.05). We suggest that early overnutrition leads to obesity. In addition, PFPF delays the absorption of simple carbohydrates due to being rich in pectin (a gel form) by improving glycemic control, not only after simulation AP but also AP induction. Which may be a predictor of improvement in the inflammatory response in the context of acute pancreatitis. Support: FAPERJ.
