The implementation of the "Selamatan Petik Pari" tradition carried out by the people of Petungsewu Village, Wagir District, Malang Regency

Background: Petungsewu Village, located in Wagir District, Malang Regency, is a village rich in culture and tradition. One tradition that is still preserved to this day is "Selamatan Petik Pari," a traditional ceremony performed by the local community as a form of respect to Dewi Sri, the goddess of rice who is believed to be the protector of rice plants. This tradition reflects the beliefs and values passed down from generation to generation, demonstrating the Javanese people's spiritual and mystical connection with nature and their ancestors. Method: This research uses a qualitative approach, naturalistic or interpretive, focusing on interpreting data collected in natural settings. It is descriptive, aiming to understand and describe phenomena such as behaviour, perception, and motivation within their natural context. Findings: "Selamatan Petik Pari" involves various rituals rich in symbolism, such as the preparation of tumpeng and takir containing a full meal, as well as incantations and prayers adapted to the religious beliefs of the majority of the population, namely Islam. This tradition not only aims to ask for a bountiful harvest and protection from pests, but also as a means to strengthen social relations among residents and between residents and the village government. The village government, represented by the village head and village officials, shows active participation and support for the implementation of this tradition. They hope that this tradition can continue to be preserved and passed on to the younger generation, thus not only strengthening cultural identity but also strengthening familial and communal relations among the community. Conclusion: "Selamatan Petik Pari" in Petungsewu Village is not only an agricultural tradition, but also an important means of maintaining and developing cultural values, social togetherness, and harmony between humans and nature. This tradition emphasises the importance of preserving cultural heritage as part of national identity and as a tool to answer social challenges in the present. Novelty/Originality of this article: The model in this study can be applied in various regions to promote cultural heritage, improve local economies, and encourage community participation in sustainable development.

PEMBERDAYAAN MASYARAKAT MELALUI PELATIHAN KERAJINAN “BU FIA” (BONSAI JAMBU RAFIA) PADA PKK DESA JATIREJO

Community empowerment is one way to build human capacity and increase community participation in sustainable development. Bonsai Jambu Rafia (Bu Fia) Craft Program is an empowerment activity carried out as an effort to optimize the potential of human resources in the Pemberdayaan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) institution of Jatirejo village. The method used is training and practice with a participatory approach (Participatory Rural Appraisal). This activity provides training and knowledge about guava stem and branch waste to be processed into handicrafts with high selling value. The goal is to bring the results of innovation based on local resources of guava stem and twig waste to the community, provide solutions to the needs of village partners in improving the economy, and prepare third parties for sustainable sales. The result was increased knowledge, skills, and independence for PKK members.

Energy Access in Mountain Arba Hill, Jango Village From The Perspective of Community Environmental Justice

Environmental justice from the perspective of public participation in the development of natural resources is a national program where the government is starting to switch from fossil energy to green energy, which means that in the future the government will no longer hope for energy such as coal, oil and gas, etc. This is a very strategic step taken by the government. Centralized policies are the antithesis of the increasing pressure to decentralize regional government, including regarding the management of natural resources (SDA) in the mining and oil and gas sectors, To ensure that this program runs well, of course the community is involved in monitoring it. Community participation in sustainable development is indeed weak, including in terms of policy making, even though the laws and regulations also stipulate that the community has rights as explained in the Aarhus Convention, where parties have an obligation to guarantee the rights of access to information, community participation in decision making, and access to justice in environmental matters in accordance with the provisions of the convention. Then in Law No. 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management, it is intended, among other things, 1) to provide information to the government, 2) to increase the public's willingness to accept government decisions. 3) Helps with legal protection. and 4) Democratize decision making. From the above basis, it further strengthens the community so that it can participate actively in the development of natural resources in this country.

Sustainable Cruise Tourism: Systematic Literature Review and Future Research Areas

The cruise shipping industry has existed for centuries. However, sustainability is a relatively new trend that could make a big difference and someday impact the industry. A growing body of research on sustainable cruise tourism includes studying changes among industry stakeholders, internal and external processes, and more. However, until now, there have been no comprehensive and systematic reviews of the academic literature on this topic and proposals for future research areas. The sample for our research consists of 56 articles structured into the following themes and subthemes: (1) corporate social responsibility (public interaction and emissions management); (2) territory management (collaboration with stakeholders and infrastructure development); (3) training in sustainable behavior (passengers, ship personnel, and other stakeholders). These themes fully explore the various use cases for sustainable cruises, forming a conceptual framework for understanding trends for the industry’s sustainable development. We direct the attention of other researchers to the following areas for further research: GHG emissions of cruising; biodiversity impacts; quantitative understanding of the target audience and their participation in sustainability financing; in-depth understanding of the reasons for cooperation between stakeholders; identifying the true motivation for participation in sustainable development; the long-term trends; and how the shipping industry is adapting to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Factors influencing public support for the individual low-carbon behavior rewarding system: Evidence from a large-scale longitudinal survey in China

The Individual Low-carbon Behavior Rewarding System (ILBRS) is a new Chinese environmental policy that aims to guide public participation in sustainable development through applying a range of incentive mechanisms. It is regarded as an important and effective way of reducing carbon emissions in response to climate change. However, knowledge of the influencing factors of support for the ILBRS is still scattered and lacks systematic analysis. This study is one of the first literatures to explore public support for ILBRS through a large sample of longitudinal data relying on psychological theory. Based on the Responsible Environmental Behavior model, we established a mechanism that consists of three levels of factors affecting public support for the ILBRS. These factors involve individual characteristics, individual perception, and willingness of performing other low-carbon behaviors. The results of a longitudinal panel survey at one-year interval with 2,324 valid responses indicated that connectedness to nature, perception that climate change is happening, willingness to sort waste and to use green energy could significantly and positively predict public support for the ILBRS. Based on the findings of this study, we provide practical suggestions for policy makers to further improve the implementation of the ILBRS by raising public awareness of climate change and integrating it with other relevant environmental policies.

Pengaruh Inovasi Destinasi Wisata Berbasis E-Government dan Partisipasi Masyarakat terhadap Pembangunan Berkelanjutan di Pulau Lusi

In practice, sustainable development is still needed on Lusi Island considering that the existence of Lusi Island is not yet known by the wider community and the development plan has not been realized in the form of adding several tourist and educational facilities. The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the influence of e-government-based tourist destination innovation and community participation both partially and simultaneously on sustainable development in the field of Lusi Island tourism. Data analysis was performed by multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that there was a partial and simultaneous influence of e-government-based tourist destination innovation and community participation in sustainable development in the field of Lusi Island tourism. Sidoarjo Regency is expected to maximize the development and promotion of Lusi Island tourism, for example by implementing online ticket purchases and promotions through official social media.

A novel robust maximum power extraction framework for sustainable PV system using incremental conductance based MRAC technique

AbstractThis study proposes a maximum power point tracking (MPPT) approach with two components: an Incremental Conductance (INC) MPPT for reference voltage regulation and a Model Reference Adaptive Controller (MRAC) for adjusting the duty cycle of the DC‐DC converter switch. A robustness test is performed on the system considering real‐world situations that involve an abrupt change in atmospheric conditions with load uncertainties. The probabilistic load distribution analysis is accomplished through levels of uncertainty (i.e., Probabilistic DOWN and UP) to guarantee the operation of the proposed INC‐MRAC controller while generating unexpected disturbances in the system. Using MATLAB/Simulink, the performances of the novel INC‐MRAC MPPT are comparatively analyzed with PO, INC, VSSPO, and ANN under realistic case studies in seven states. After comparative analysis, it is evident that the proposed MPPT offers less tracking time, i.e., 3.8 ms, to track maximum power point (MPP) with negligible steady‐state oscillation and ripples. It is about 3, 7, 9, and 10 times faster than ANN, VSSPO, INC and PO, respectively. Moreover, the tracking efficiency of the proposed controller is up to 99.63% as well as overall efficiency of the system is more than 98%. The tracking power loss and error rate in finding MPP for the proposed controller is the lowest among all state‐of‐the‐art MPPT approaches. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed INC‐MRAC approach is experimentally validated by employing a real‐time simulator OPAL‐RT (OP4510). The study helps in environmental protection and participation in sustainable development.

Sustainable Development towards Openness SME Innovation: Taking Advantage of Intellectual Capital, Sustainable Initiatives, and Open Innovation

The issues of the relationship between the innovative maturity of enterprises, the orientation of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to the principles of sustainability, and the expansion of their participation in sustainable development with business efficiency are very important and interesting. In this case, it is important to find a good balance between a policy that focuses on sustainable development and businesses’ needs. This will help SME companies be as efficient as possible and have the least amount of impact on the environment. This is especially important for countries where small- and medium-sized businesses are the main driving force of the country’s economy. This research aims to examine how the conceptualizations of intellectual capital (e.g., relational capital, social capital, and structural capital) affect open innovation and sustainability-oriented initiatives to foster open sustainability innovation for small- and medium-sized businesses. Using structural equation modeling based on second-order factor analysis, survey data were collected from 481 SMEs in Thailand. Intellectual capital in SMEs enhances opportunity recognition in SMEs to develop open sustainability innovation, while sustainability-oriented initiatives and an open innovation strategy should be well-placed. SMBs and business policymakers should pay attention to the idea of intellectual capital in terms of socio-rational resources, in which open sustainability innovation projects could be developed through sustainable cooperation.

Women as Change Agent for Sustainable Development in the 21st Century in Nigeria

This study investigated women as change agent for sustainable development in the 21st century Nigeria. Two research questions guided the study; why are women the change agent in the 21st century in Nigeria for sustainable development? What are the hindrances that negate their active participation in sustainable development in Nigeria? descriptive survey research design was adopted for the study. The population consists of 5.6 million women in South-East Nigeria. The sample size was 400 women. The sampling technique adopted was multi stage sampling and simple random sampling. Data collected were analyzed using mean. The findings of the study showed that women in 21st century Nigeria are change agents for sustainable development because they posses characteristics such as community advocacy roles, promotion and grassroots mobilizations to achieve different change that could rob off on the socio-economic life of the people , contribution to the economy through business both at retail, wholesale and production level, care for the family, nurture and play a significant role in community building, mobilization skills, teaching skills , disciplinarian skills, disburser and manager of funds in the home, caregivers, educators, teacher, organizer, and home making. It was concluded among others that the role of women as agents of sustainable development seems to be more potent, effective and holds the possibilities of fostering a positive change that span the different areas for sustainable development . From the foregoing evidences, it is safe to deduce that through the use of women as agents for sustainable development, it is easier and gives a better result in the 21st century Nigeria that is battling with a lot of cultural, religious and political inclinations against women.

Guidelines for a participatory Smart City model to address Amazon's urban environmental problems.

Climate change is a global challenge, and the Brazilian Amazon Forest is a particular concern due to the possibility of reaching a tipping point that could amplify environmental crises. Despite many studies on the Amazon Forest, this research was conducted in Manaus, the capital of Amazonas state, to address five gaps, including the lack of local citizen consultation on urban environmental issues, Smart Cities, decarbonization, and disruptive technologies. This study holds significance for the academy community, government bodies, policymakers, and investors, as it offers novel insights into the Amazon region and proposes a model to engage citizens in Smart Cities. This model could also guide other municipalities aspiring for participatory sustainable development with a decarbonization focus, mitigating future risks, and protecting future generations. Basically, it is an explanatory and applied study that employs mixed methods, including literature, bibliometric and documentary reviews, two questionnaires, and descriptive statistical approaches, organized in four phases to reach the following goals: (a) provide information on the main challenges facing humanity, the Brazilian Amazon state, and the city of Manaus; (b) identify the best Smart City approaches for engaging citizens in solving urban problems; (c) contextualize and consult Manaus City Hall about the effectiveness of the Smart City project; (d) investigate the perceptions of citizens living in Manaus on the main city's environmental problems, as well as their level of knowledge and interest on issues related to Smart Cities, decarbonization, and disruptive technologies; (e) propose a participatory Smart City model with recommendations. Among the result, the study found that the term "Smart City" dominates scholarly publications among nineteen urban-related terms, and the five main environmental problems in Manaus are an increase in stream pollution, garbage accumulation, insufficient urban afforestation, air pollution, and traffic congestion. Although citizens are willing to help, the majority lack knowledge on Smart City and Decarbonized City issues, but there is a considerable interest in training related to these issues, as well as disruptive technologies. It was found that Amsterdam, Melbourne, Montreal, San Francisco, Seoul, and Taipei all have a formal model to engage citizens in solving their urban problems. The main conclusion is that, after 6 years, the Smart City Project in Manaus is a political fallacy, as no model, especially with a citizen participatory approach, has been effectively adopted. In addition, after conducting a literature and documentary review and analyzing 25 benchmark Smart Cities, the P5 model and the Citizen Engagement Kit model are proposed with 120 approaches and guidelines for addressing the main environmental problems by including Manaus' citizens in the Smart City and/or decarbonization journey.

USR as a Tool for Meeting the SDGs: A Systematic Review

This article aims to recognize social responsibility actions at Higher Education Institutions that are engaged with meeting Sustainable Development Goals. A systematic review of high-level scientific studies was developed for identifying Universities Social Responsibility (USR) actions in articles Scopus, Scielo, and WOS published on USR between 2016 and 2020. The results show how USR actions are focused on quality education, followed by clean water and affordable and clean energy. This study finds that HEIs participation in sustainable development is essential through USR actions from a broader spectrum.

Analysis of Sustainable Water Resources: A Review of Inter- Sectoral Water Problems and Environmental Hazards

The Water resources Conservation Program is one part of environmental preservation in which is nowimplemented by the Government. Buy the Law Number 17 of 2019 on Water Resources. The regulation inthe context of its implementation is faced with aspects of legal awareness and legal compliance of all partieswho are often unaware of the significance of the water in life. The research result shows an irony whileunderstood that water conservation activities is a responsibility of some parties only. Many breakthroughs canbe used to maintain the environment preservation as a norm, implementation of the principle of participation,especially in the industrial area so that the sustainability of the environment system is maintained to maintainthe ideals of sustainable development and reduce the environmental hazard. One of the solutions offeredis based on the values of human resources concept, which is the foundation of the environmental law byadhering to the principle of participation in sustainable development.

Теоретичне обґрунтування моделей участі підприємств у досягненні глобальних цілей сталого розвитку

The article is concerned with the relevant issue both for Ukraine and the world of achieving global sustainable development goals based on the participation of enterprises (businesses) in ecological conservation processes and improving social well-being against the background of economic growth. The article is aimed at presenting the results of a study of the theoretical substantiation of models of the enterprise’s participation in achieving the global goals of sustainable development. Based on the use of general scientific research methods, it was logically substantiated that under the participation of enterprise in achieving the global goals of sustainable development, it is necessary to understand the alienation of assets or the acceptance of obligations to implement projects that correspond to sustainable development in the internal and external environment. On this basis, it is proposed to distinguish between four models of enterprise participation in processes aimed at achieving global sustainable development goals: «Outsider», «Activist», «Contributor», «Active Contributor». These models are based on two important characteristics: the presence or absence of internal transformation processes in favor of sustainable development at the enterprise, as well as the presence or absence of projects for financing transformations in favor of sustainable development in the external environment. The substantiation of the company’s behavior models in terms of the implementation of the global sustainable development goals allowed to propose an interpretation of the sustainable development of the enterprise in terms of its participation in these processes. In the logical course of the study, the types of sustainable development of enterprise are substantiated as follows: «driver», «supporter», «integrator». It is proved that these types should be determined on the basis of the ratio of the enterprise’s participation in sustainable development due to its activity in transformation processes in the internal and external environment. An analysis of the compliance of four models of enterprise participation in the implementation of the global sustainable development goals with three types of sustainable development of the enterprise is accomplished. Further research will concern the effectiveness of a particular model of enterprise participation in sustainable development from the point of view of different stakeholders.

The empowerment of local tourism stakeholders and their perceived environmental effects for participation in sustainable development of tourism

The purpose of the present study was to measure the participation of local tourism stakeholders in the process of sustainable development of tourism by improving the empowerment indicators mediated by natural, economic, and social-environmental impacts perceived in route and destination settlements in Iran. The research methodology was discussed and explained according to Covariance-based SEM Techniques using a questionnaire results revealed that non-generative empowerment has a positive impact on perceived environmental effects influenced by non-generative empowerment over the participation of local stakeholders. Similarly, there is a positive relationship between the perceived effects In this regard, the results of the present study also revealed the positive and convergent role of empowerment of local stakeholders in perceived environmental impacts, that is, the proper application of the dimensions of empowerment of local tourism stakeholders provides the grounds for the participation of local tourism stakeholders in the process of sustainable development of tourism.

Utilization of waste glass in the improvement of concrete performance: A mini review.

Every year, millions of tonnes of glass waste pose terrible problems related to the environmental condition all over the world. The glass is mainly composed of silica. Its use in concrete could be a beneficial solution for the environment and also economic problems. In this mini review, the different possibilities of the valorization of glass waste by substitution of aggregates and cement in concrete have been explored. Its effects on the physicochemical and mechanical characteristics were examined in the main research in this direction. The use of waste glass in concrete can offer an improvement in concrete performance and an asset for participation in sustainable development by reducing this waste.

The Role of Muhammadiyah in Sustainable Development Through Community Empowerment Program

Sustainable development is the development goal of every country, including Indonesia. The process of sustainable development has positioned the community as the subject with the main actor of the development is the community itself. Regarding this context, the process is performed through community empowerment approach. Muhammadiyah is the biggest non-governmental organization in Indonesia which engaged in religion, social community, economy, education, environment, and health sectors. This study aimed to discover the role of Muhammadiyah in the sustainable development of Indonesia. The method used in this study was mixed method as the combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results of the research have concluded that Muhammadiyah has positive and significant roles in sustainable development of Indonesia, including from the evaluation results of the restoration program of tropical forest ecosystem in East Borneo Province and social-economic empowerment on vulnerable groups in Yogyakarta Province. The approach of Muhammadiyah through community empowerment program has been successful to improve the knowledge, change of attitude, and skills of the facilitated community. The community empowerment approach was implemented by Muhammadiyah to encourage public participation in sustainable development.

Developing Social Resilience and Building a Culture of Nationalism in the City of Batam, Indonesia

International ports serve and expedited interaction between nations. Building a modern international port city and advanced society dwellers within it heavily depends on socially sustainable development, and on the level of social resilience of its residents. The rapid development of an international port city cannot disregard many foreign interests in the City’s decision making; therefore, the lack of a culture of nationalism is investigated. This paper tries to portray that building social resilience is hand-in-hand with building a culture of nationalism, and it exists in the international port city setting such as the City of Batam. A mixed method analysis is used to get determinants of social resilience and nationalism. It is used a systematic review of peer-reviewed academic journal articles published between 2013 and 2018 to scope and synthesize assessment criteria; then it is compared with the quality of socio-cultural life condition from the survey and in-depth interview. The analysis results show a correlation between economic and political powers and building the local identity and culture of nationalism. In the context of being local, being national, and being "other" in the regional area, this study also shows that building a culture of nationalism is related to socially sustainable development, and nationalism is not correlated with the place of living but to the efforts of citizen participation in sustainable development. Therefore, building social resilience is also building a culture of nationalism, and it makes an international port city distinctly unique despite its internationalism characteristic.

The Gada system and the Oromo’s (Ethiopia) culture of peace

The purpose of this study is to add to recent calls to develop indigenous knowledge of peace system and culture development to promote culture of peace in Africa. It assesses the indigenous Gadaa system peace concept and culture, identify its peace related values, philosophies, traditions, institutions, etc for nurturing and sustaining peace in the Oromo society, with the neighboring ethnic group, and its relevance to creating peace culture in Africa and beyond. It relates Gadaa peace system with the UN peace system initiative and framework in demonstrating the relevance of Gada peace system to peace building in multi-ethnic conflicts transformation in the Horn of Africa and beyond. Oromo people were traditionally a culturally homogeneous society with genealogical ties living in Ethiopia, Kenya, and other neighboring east African countries. They governed themselves in accordance with Gadaa (literally era), an outstanding democratic socio-political system long before the 16th century that has survived to date and is currently functional in Ethiopia and Kenya, and gaining importance and restored in all parts of Oromia in Ethiopia.. The Gada system is an indigenous institution that pervades every aspect of an Oromo life including personal, interpersonal, social, economic and political life. The Oromo concept of peace is comprehensive and broader than western conception of absence of violence. It covers both negative and positive peace, intra-personal peace, interpersonal peace, within Oromo, with other communities, with nature, and peace with God. Therefore, to build peace culture the Gada concept of peace, truth, values, principles, and conflict resolution techniques need to be restored and promoted. It should be documented and made part of education system. The academics should do research and disseminate these values. The regional state government and civic societies should develop a peace education program based on these values and traditions so that they should be restored quickly and sustained among Oromo community in all corners of east Africa where Oromo community lives. The concepts of gender equality and participation in sustainable development of the society needs to introduced into the Oromo culture and Gada system.

Environmental Governance Urban: Public Participation and Sustainable Development

Environmental protection and management are carried out based on the principle of state responsibility, sustainability and sustainability, harmony and balance, integration, benefits, prudence, justice, ecoregion, biodiversity, participatory, local wisdom, good governance, and regional autonomy. The purpose of the research is to find out how much influence obtained between the variables of participation in sustainable development and indicators on these variables in environmental management in urban areas. The study was conducted in Makassar City in 2017-2018 with questionnaires and interviews as instruments to obtain primary data. The number of samples used was 200 respondents. With variables consisting of participation and sustainable development, then the indicator includes of (1) Thought Contribution; (2) Contributions of Funds; (3) Energy Contributions and (4) Contributions of Facilities for participation variables and (1) Culture - Ecology Interface; (2) Culture - Economy Interface; and (3) Economy - Ecology Interface for sustainable development. The analysis used is Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and to manage primary data with CFA, the help of IBM AMOS 23 Software used. The results of the study show that community participation in the development of business entities and waste banks is to encourage public involvement to the lowest level. To support environmental sustainability at the local level this, form of participation. From such things that make a significant influence between community participation in the development of environmental sustainability.
