The Village Head's Strategy to Enhance Social Inclusion in Bulo-Bulo Village Pujananting District Barru Regency

This research aims to analyze the strategies implemented by the Village Head to enhance social inclusion in Bulo-Bulo Village, Pujananting District, Barru Regency. The research methodology utilized is qualitative research with a case study approach. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the Village Head, community leaders, and other stakeholders in the village. The results of the study indicate that the Village Head has implemented various effective strategies to improve social inclusion in Bulo-Bulo Village. These strategies include enhancing accessibility to public services, developing inclusive infrastructure, empowering the community through training programs and skill development, and utilizing information technology to expand communication and information dissemination. The implementation of these strategies has had a significantly positive impact on the level of social inclusion in Bulo-Bulo Village. There has been an increase in community participation in social and economic activities, improved access to healthcare and education services, and heightened awareness of the importance of social inclusion in village development. Based on the research findings, it is concluded that the strategies employed by the Village Head to enhance social inclusion in Bulo-Bulo Village can serve as a relevant model for application in other areas. Cooperation among local governments, communities, and the private sector is necessary to support the broader and sustainable implementation of social inclusion strategies across various regions in Indonesia.

Studi Identitas Regional untuk Pariwisata Berkelanjutan di Kecamatan IV Koto Kabupaten Agam

Tourism is growing rapidly globally, making an important economic contribution in Indonesia. However, it is necessary to focus on sustainable tourism that considers ecological and cultural aspects. This research aims to identify regional identity for sustainable tourism in IV Koto Sub-district, Agam Regency based on the potential of natural and cultural resources. The research method used in this research is quantitative and qualitative approaches, this research analyzes primary and secondary data to evaluate the attractiveness of natural attractions and cultural elements of interest to local communities. The results showed that the Great Wall of Koto Gadang was the natural attraction with the highest potential as a regional identity, while traditional ceremonies, particularly batagak gala, became the most significant cultural identity. The findings emphasize the importance of utilizing natural and cultural resources in a sustainable manner, involving the active participation of local communities in tourism development.

The Role of Local Community in Enhancing Sustainable Community Based Tourism

The emergence of “community-based tourism” (CBT) is seen as a viable and alternative means of promoting sustainable tourism development, enhancing community welfare, as well as empowering local communities. By actively involving and empowering the local community, this tourism model aims to minimize negative social, cultural, and environmental impacts while fostering economic benefits for the community. In recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the pivotal role played by local communities in the success and sustainability of community-based tourism initiatives. Therefore, a systematic review is conducted to investigate the multifaceted contributions of the local community to sustainable community-based tourism. The researcher examined relevant peer-reviewed articles, books, and reports published in English between 2000 and 2022, focusing on the role of local community in enhancing sustainable community-based tourism. The search was performed in important databases such as Google Scholar, Tandfonline, and ScienceDirect, resulting in a total of 965 publications. After applying removing duplicates and inclusion criteria, only 30 articles out of 152 full articles met the requirements. This thorough and systematic review concludes that active participation of the local community in decision-making processes positively impacts sustainable “community-based tourism”. The findings highlight that the local community acts as a key stakeholder in decision-making processes, ensuring that tourism development aligns with community values and aspirations.

Ethnoprimatology reveals new extended distribution of critically endangered banded langur Presbytis femoralis (Martin, 1838) in Pahang, Malaysia: Insights from indigenous traditional knowledge and molecular analysis.

The banded langur (Presbytis femoralis) is a critically endangered primate, restricted to Johor, Malaysia, with an estimated population size of less than 500 individuals. Traditionally, distribution studies on this highly threatened primate have relied on conventional methods such as DNA identification, live counting, and camera trapping. However, ethnoprimatology offers an alternative approach to data collection, involving the active participation of indigenous and local communities possessing valuable knowledge and experience with local primate species. This study employed an integrated approach incorporating ethnoprimatology by utilizing pooled local expert opinion, local surveys, interviews, and fecal DNA analysis, resulting in a novel distribution range for the banded langur. The combination of expert opinions revealed this species' most optimistic distribution scenario across Johor and Pahang, inhabiting various ecosystems, including lowland forests, peat swamps, and human-modified landscapes. Further interviews and surveys conducted within the Orang Asli community in Tasik Chini and Tasek Bera have provided additional support for the revised distribution, documenting occurrences of banded langur utilization in indigenous practices, such as food consumption, cultural beliefs, medicinal applications, and craftsmanship. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated genetic differentiation between populations in Johor and Pahang, with the populations in the southern part of Peninsular Malaysia likely serving as ancestral sources for other populations. Consequently, this study not only elucidated the updated distribution of banded langur through DNA records and direct observations but also established the efficacy of ethnoprimatology as a precursory tool for uncovering the present distribution patterns of other primate species in Malaysia.

Enhancing Community Welfare through Participatory Management of Village-Owned Enterprises: A Case Study in Pematang Serai Village, Langkat District

This study aims to examine the contribution of participatory management to improving community welfare through BUMDes in Pematang Serai Village, Langkat. Qualitative case studies are conducted through interviews and observations. The results show that participatory management is significant in empowering BUMDes and improving community welfare. Active community participation in the decision, planning, implementation, and evaluation of BUMDes has a positive impact on income, access to public services, and quality of life. This research makes an important contribution in understanding the role of participatory management in improving welfare through BUMDes. Relevant policy implications are outlined to support sustainable BUMDes and welfare in Pematang Serai Village.

Characterization and Identification of Major Constraints and Potentials of Kiltu Sorsa Watershed, in Guji Zone, Southern Ethiopia

Ethiopia is a country seriously affected by different natural resource degradation that included soil, vegetation, biodiversity and water degradation and climate deterioration. The study was conducted at Adola Rede District of Guji Zone, in Southern Ethiopia. The objectives of the study were to document baseline information on socioeconomic aspects and to document major biophysical and socio-economic constraints and potentials of the study watershed. The survey data were collected using key informant interview, focus group discussions, semi-structured interviews and guided field observations. A total of 60 respondents were selected for semi-structured interviews by means of simple random sampling methods. The majority (65%) of the respondent households were practiced physical and biological soil and water conservation activities. However, about 35% of the sampled households were not practiced soil and water conservation activities due to lack of awareness, lack of materials and labor. In the study watershed five major constraints such as land and soil related constraints, production related constraints, institutional and infrastructure related constraints, livestock related constraints and socio-economic related constraints were identified. However, suitable agro-ecology, availability of labor force, youth and women associations and informal institutions were the major identified potentials in the study watershed. Therefore, by using the potentials/opportunities of the study watershed and through providing quality extension services and training on soil and water conservation practices it is possible to enhance farmers participation and technical limitations. Moreover, for sustainable watershed management of the study area different soil and water conservation structures are very significant in various land use system of the study watershed through active participation of the local communities.

Community empowerment in an effort towards quality health

Community empowerment in the context of health has become a significant focus of efforts to improve overall public health. Increasing public knowledge and health awareness is this empowerment's primary goal. Through various methods such as health education, active community participation, use of information technology, resource support, and continuous evaluation, empowerment efforts aim to create an environment where people are more aware of the importance of health and have sufficient knowledge to make informed decisions regarding their health. The results of this empowerment include improved healthy living behaviours, reduced health disparities, increased access to equitable health services, and the development of more independent and empowered communities. By strengthening community empowerment, it can be expected that overall public health will improve, and creating a society that is more health-conscious and able to contribute to maintaining health together can create an environment where people are more health-conscious, have enough knowledge to make good decisions regarding their health, and actively contribute to maintaining health together

OPTIMASI OPTIMASI PROSES PEMBERSIHAN BERAS: STRATEGI TERAPAN UNTUK PENINGKATAN KUALITAS HASIL PERTANIAN

This community service activity (PKM) aims to introduce and train the community to process their rice harvests using appropriate technology, in the form of a grain peeling machine. The main target of this PKM activity is the people of the Jaya Mandiri Farmers Group in Batu Layang Village RT.04/RW.15, North Pontianak District, who still have limited means for their agricultural activities. The methods applied in this PKM activity are science and technology diffusion, socialization, and active community participation. So that with this PKM activity, the community has gained knowledge and skills in processing their post-harvest rice products, and it is hoped that this can help overcome their productivity problems due to limited agricultural facilities. Cleaning rice not only aims to remove empty grains, dirt and other foreign objects, but also increases the selling value per unit weight, increases the efficiency of drying and processing post-harvest products and extends shelf life. The working principle of the automatic rice cleaning tool is that when the rice is in the main reservoir, it then goes down through a small gap so that when it comes down it is cleaned with a fan so that the dirt stuck to the rice is blown away and the clean rice enters the reservoir section. The construction of this rice cleaning machine is divided into a hoper as a place to input rice, a crankshaft system, while the drive system consists of an electric motor, pulley, belt, pegs, bearings. With this device, the process of cleaning rice can be carried out simply and easily, and the process time, namely cleaning time, is shorter. With a shorter processing time, the production rate per unit time becomes greater. Improving the quality of agricultural products is very important in supporting food security and farmer welfare. One of the key aspects in ensuring the quality of agricultural products is the post-harvest processing process, especially the rice cleaning process. In this context, this research aims to optimize the rice refining process through the implementation of effective applied strategies. This study was conducted through a comprehensive series of laboratory experiments and field tests. Refining methods involving a combination of traditional and innovative technologies were evaluated to find the most efficient strategy for improving rice quality. The research results show that the use of a combination of certain technologies can increase the efficiency of rice cleaning, as well as reduce yield losses and increase the selling value of the product. This research makes a significant contribution to the development of agricultural practices that are sustainable and oriented towards quality results. These findings have direct implications for farmers in increasing the competitiveness of their products in local and global markets, as well as in supporting government efforts to achieve national food security goals.

The role of local communities in the conservation of cultural heritage sites: A case study of Vietnam

This study examines the significant impact of local community engagement on conserving cultural heritage sites, focusing on active participation, cultural preservation, decision-making, and oversight. Utilizing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) for analysis, it evaluates how community involvement aids in the maintenance and protection of tangible and intangible heritage aspects. Findings reveal substantial improvements in conservation outcomes due to active community participation, highlighting the critical role of local communities in preserving heritage integrity and cultural values. This emphasizes the necessity of grassroots involvement for lasting cultural legacy preservation. Furthermore, the study stresses the importance of incorporating indigenous knowledge and traditions into conservation strategies to ensure culturally relevant and sustainable outcomes. Although based in Vietnam, the implications of this research are global, advocating for inclusive, community-centric conservation practices that emphasize environmental sustainability and cultural significance. This approach signifies a transformative shift towards heritage conservation models that align with local community ethos, offering valuable insights and recommendations for a more integrative and culturally attuned preservation strategy.

Analysis of Community-Based Waste Management Policies to Achieve Clean and Healthy Environment

This research aims to analyze community-based waste management policies as an effort to create a clean and healthy environment. Using the literature review method, this research explores various aspects of waste management policies, the role of communities in policy implementation, and their impacts on the environment and public health. The findings indicate that an approach involving active community participation, integration of social justice aspects, technological utilization, and sustainable evaluation are crucial in achieving effective and sustainable waste management. These findings provide valuable insights for formulating future waste management policies, with an emphasis on the importance of a holistic approach involving all stakeholders.

Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Dalam Pengelolaan Pekerjaan Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Sumber Daya Manusia Di Bendungan Desa Getas Gebyur

The research results show that community empowerment in work management has a positive impact in increasing human resources. Empowerment program through training, mentoring and active community participation in decision making with knowledge, skills and community awareness with the aim of exploring and analyzing empowerment efforts in work management as a strategy to increase human resources. However, this management identified several challenges faced in implementing empowerment, including resources, conflicts of interest and resistance to change. This mentoring activity uses a qualitative approach with a case study approach. Community empowerment in managing work at the Getas Gebyur Wates Village Dam has great potential as a strategy to increase human resources. However, sustained and comprehensive efforts are needed to overcome challenges and maximize the benefits of empowerment efforts.

Upaya Kinerja Pemerintah Desa dalam Pelayanan Publik di Desa Kuwolu Kecamatan Bululawang

This research explores the optimization of village government performance efforts in providing public services in Kuwolu Village, Bululawang District. The main focus of the study is on the adoption of technology, responsiveness to changes in societal values, the implementation of Law Number 25 of 2009 concerning Public Services, and community participation. The research results indicate that the adoption of technology has a positive impact on improving administrative efficiency, although challenges in digital literacy still need to be addressed. Responsiveness to changes in societal values is a critical point in formulating service policies that align with local expectations. Law Number 25 of 2009 provides clear direction, but its implementation requires in-depth understanding and adaptation to local conditions. The improvement of service quality and administrative efficiency remains the main focus, with active community participation as a vital instrument. Cross-sectoral collaboration and institutional cooperation are identified as assets to create synergy in service provision. Inclusive steps through training programs and digital literacy are solutions to overcome disparities and unequal access. This research creates an overview of the performance efforts of village governments in facing the dynamics of public services in the era of digital transformation and changes in societal values. It is hoped that these findings can provide guidance for other village governments in creating effective and responsive public service systems amid contemporary challenges.

Strengths within the Community Perceived by Older Adults Living Alone in a Semi-Mountainous Rural Region: A Qualitative Study.

It is recommended that health promotion activities in the community focus on residents' strengths. Hence, this study explored the community strengths perceived by older adults living alone in a semi-mountainous rural region of Japan. A qualitative, descriptive approach was used. Content analysis was performed using data obtained through face-to-face interviews. Interview data were coded; codes were classified based on similarity to create subcategories and categories. The strengths within the community, as perceived by older adults living alone in a semi-mountainous rural region, were revealed in four categories related to ten subcategories: "loose connections with others", "active community participation", "close relationships with community professionals", and "familiarity with the living environment". Strengths within the community perceived by older adults living alone in a semi-mountainous rural region were cultivated in an environment formed by their past lives. Utilizing these resources may help support community-based societies in semi-mountainous rural regions where depopulation and aging are expected to continue in the future. Pengelolaan Sampah Plastik Dalam Skala Kecil: Peran Masyarakat Dalam Mengurangi Dampak Lingkungan

Most plastic waste is not processed properly and can cause pollution to the surrounding environment. This problem is currently being faced by residents of Gunung Putri Bogor District, low knowledge and lack of contribution from residents in managing organic waste and non-organic waste, leads to the dumping and burning of waste in quite large quantities, which can trigger air pollution and disease, so the aim in This service is to evaluate the effectiveness of various waste management methods, especially in the context of waste sorting, to raise awareness of the importance of managing plastic waste on a small scale, as well as providing a positive impact on environmental conservation efforts. It is hoped that the knowledge generated from this research can be used as an initial reference to increase public awareness in waste management and also encourage active community participation in reducing the impact of environmental pollution produced through a triggering approach, namely encouraging behavior change by providing information and training in the form of waste management workshops. plastic so that residents have the opportunity to handle and manage dry waste (organic and inorganic). The method used in this activity was that the researcher gave a pre-test and post-test before and after the activity. The researcher wanted to measure the level of knowledge and understanding, attitudes, and behavior of the participants in waste management. The results achieved by researchers show a growth in knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of participants in the use of small plastic waste as well as the role of the community. So it can be concluded that this activity is effective in increasing public knowledge about waste and how to manage it.

This collaboration aims to increase the effectiveness and sustainability of the Puspaga program amidst the changing paradigm of active community participation in development. RW Hall, as a center for social and cultural activities, is key in creating an environment that supports and understands community needs. Collaboration between RW halls, local government and other institutions is expected to create a holistic and sustainable service model.

Eksistensi Penyelesaian Sengketa UMKM Secara Non Litigasi di Desa Bandar Labuhan

This community service aims to enhance the understanding of the community in Bandar Labuhan Village regarding the non-litigation resolution of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The implementation method involves counseling activities covering the understanding of rights and obligations in the context of MSMEs, along with non-litigation dispute resolution mechanisms. The results reflect a positive impact, including increased legal awareness and active community participation. However, challenges and disagreements in implementing these mechanisms are also indicated. The discussion includes an analysis of success and potential obstacles. Acknowledging challenges as natural hurdles, suggestions for advanced approaches such as mentoring or additional training are proposed. The evaluation results provide profound insights for developing future community service programs, emphasizing material adjustments and a more focused approach. In conclusion, this community service affirms the success of increasing community understanding through counseling activities, but the challenges require a sustainable approach. Future program development is expected to be more effective in responding to community needs and contextual changes regarding the non-litigation resolution of MSME disputes.

ISLAMIC FASHION TREND PHENOMENON IN SEMARANG OLD CITY AREA

Tourism in Semarang's Old Town is a phenomenon that has a significant impact on tourists' dress preferences. This article presents an observational analysis of how age, economy, and culture influence tourists' dress choices in the context of Semarang's Old Town. The research method used is an ethnographic approach involving in-depth observations, interviews, and active participation in the traveller community. The results revealed age variations among tourists, with young people and older generations visiting. The implications of age are reflected in dress preferences, with the younger generation being more experimental in Islamic fashion styles, while the older generation is more conservative. Economic characteristics also play an important role, with high-income travellers opting for luxury clothing while low-income ones opt for more modest clothing. The influence of Islamic values creates diversity in clothing choices, with visitors who identify themselves as Muslims more likely to choose clothing in accordance with Islamic teachings. A sense of respect for a particular culture also influences clothing choices. In conclusion, tourists' dress preferences in Semarang's Old Town are reflected through a complex interaction between age, economy, Islamic values, and culture. Knowledge of these factors is important in the development of inclusive and sustainable tourism experiences.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TRADITIONAL DAYAK CULINARY HERITAGE IN ESTABLISHING DESTINATION BRAND IDENTITY FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL KALIMANTAN

This study aimed to examine the growth of the traditional culinary industry sector in Central Kalimantan and its relationship with tourist destinations, emphasizing its role as a branding tool that shapes the destination brand identity in Central Kalimantan. The research methodology employed was qualitative with a focused case study approach in Central Kalimantan. Data were obtained through triangulation techniques, including observation, interviews, and the analysis of documentary data, involving various informants such as officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, academicians, tourism destination managers, culinary entrepreneurs, tourists, and local communities. Data analysis utilized an interactive model comprising data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion stages. The research findings highlighted the diversity of Dayak culinary offerings in Central Kalimantan, including Juhu Umbut Rotan, Juhu Singkah Enyuh, Juhu Kujang, Chips made of Kalakai, Kalumpe, Sambal Kandas Sarai, and Kenta through the Mangenta process, demonstrating positive impacts on the development of tourist destinations. Furthermore, Dayak culinary practices were elevated as a branding element capable of shaping destination identity. The synergy between the government and local communities is vital in promoting Dayak culinary heritage to fortify destination brand identity and boost tourism allure. Through cohesive collaboration, Central Kalimantan can effectively leverage Dayak cuisine's distinctiveness to build a robust and sustainable destination brand. To maximize this potential, fostering strong synergy among the government, local communities, and culinary entrepreneurs is crucial. Proactive government engagement, sustained support for culinary entrepreneurs, organizing culinary festivals to enhance global awareness, targeted backing for enterprises like MEFs Food & Snacks, active community participation in digital marketing, and continuous research to monitor market trends are pivotal.

An evaluation on community participation in ecotourism activities post Covid-19 pandemic at Tan Loc islet, Thot Not district, Can Tho city

The article aims to assess the status of community participation and the factors affecting community participation in ecotourism activities at Tan Loc islet, Thot Not district, Can Tho City after the Covid-19 pandemic. This study is conducted through documents, field trips, and questionnaires. The empirical results show five factors affecting community participation: perception of economic benefits, social capital, local resources, local policies, and lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on those mentioned earlier, the paper proposes several solutions to enhance community participation in ecotourism development in this area.
