A differential paramagnetic approach is used for the demagnetizing correction of solenoid measurements of soft magnetic cylinders. In this approach, an accurately calculated fluxmetric demagnetizing factor for a paramagnetic cylinder of length-to-diameter ratio $\gamma$ and material susceptibility $\chi$ , $N_f(\gamma,\chi)$ , is used for the correction, with $\chi$ deduced from each value of differential susceptibility on the measured magnetization curve. The corrected properties of cylinders with large $\gamma$ may be used as a standard, with small systematic errors being carefully considered.
