Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross-coupling reaction of triarylantimony dicarboxylates with arylboronic acids: Synthesis of biaryl ketones

A novel palladium-catalyzed three-component carbonylative coupling reaction by use of triarylantimony diacetate, arylboronic acid and carbon monoxide (1 atm) could be attained under mild reaction conditions without any base as an additive. The reaction can be applied to a wide range of triarylantimony diacetates and boronic acids to afford the corresponding unsymmetrical biaryl ketones in good yields.

Carbonylative Cross-Coupling Reaction of Ethynylstibane with Aryl Iodides

Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross-coupling reaction of ethynylstibane (PhSbPh(2)) and aryl iodides (Ar-I) is described. The reaction of the stibanes and the halides under 1 atm of carbon monoxide in N,N-dimethylacetamide using a combination of 5 mol% Pd(OAc)(2) and 4 equivalents (20 mol%) of PPh(3) brought about carbonylative cross-coupling reaction to afford arylethynylketones [ArC(O)Ph] in good yields along with a small amount of directly coupled products, aryl acetylens (ArPh). Formation of the side product was completely suppressed by conducting the reaction under high CO pressure (20 atm) conditions. The present method provides a variety of carbonylated products in good yield even with electron-deficient aryl iodides which usually give inferior results due to their tendency to undergo decarbonylation in the cross-coupling reaction of ethynylstibanes and acyl halides.

Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Coupling Reactions Using Triorganoindium­ Compounds

A novel palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross-coupling reaction that employs triorganoindium compounds is described. The reaction proceeds under a carbon monoxide atmosphere with alkyl-, alkynyl-, and arylindium reagents to give good yields of unsymmetrical ketones with high atom economy. All three organic groups attached to the metal are efficiently transferred in this carbonylative coupling reaction.

Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Coupling of Tributyl(1-fluorovinyl)stannane with Aryl Halides and Aryl Triflates

Abstract We have found that tributyl(1-fluorovinyl)stannane (2) could be readily prepared from the reaction of (1-fluorovinyl)methyldiphenylsilane1 (1) and bis(tributyltin) oxide in the presence of a catalytic amount of CsF in DMF in good yields. The palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross-coupling reaction of 2 with aryl iodides bearing various functional groups smoothly proceeded giving the corresponding aryl 1-fluorovinyl ketones in good yields under an atmospheric pressure of carbon monoxide. A similar carbonylative cross-coupling reaction of 2 with aryl triflates was also accomplished in the presence of tetrabutylammonium iodide (Bu4NI) as an additive.

Palladium-Catalyzed Carbonylative Cross-Coupling Reaction of Arylboronic Acids with Aryl Electrophiles: Synthesis of Biaryl Ketones

The carbonylative cross-coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with aryl electrophiles (ArI, ArBr, and ArOTf) to yield unsymmetrical biaryl ketones was carried out in anisole at 80 °C in the presence of a palladium catalyst and a base. The reaction selectively proceeded under an atmospheric pressure of carbon monoxide when PdCl2(PPh3)2 (3 mol %)/K2CO3 (3 equiv) were used for aryl iodides and PdCl2(dppf) (3 mol %)/K2CO3 (3 equiv)/KI (3 equiv) for the bromides or the triflates. The carbonylation of arylboronic acids with benzyl halides gave aryl benzyl ketones.

Synthesis of unsymmetrical biaryl ketones via palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross-coupling reaction of arylboronic acids with iodoarenes

The cross-coupling reaction between arylboronic acids, carbon monoxide (1 atm), and aryl iodides in the presence of palladium catalyst and base provided unsymmetrical biaryl ketones in high yields. The choice of a suitable base and solvent was essential to achieve selective formation of the unsymmetrical biaryl ketone without a biaryl by-product.

Carbonylative coupling reaction of organofluorosilanes with organic halides promoted by fluoride ion and palldium catalyst

Palladium-catalyzed carbonylative cross coupling reaction of organofluorosilanes with organic halides was achieved in the presence of fluoride ion and an atmospheric pressure of carbon monoxide. Alkenyl- or arylfluorosilanes effectively underwent this reaction with alkenyl or aryl iodides in moderate to good yields. Thus, highly functionalized ketones are readily available without protection of reactive functional group such as aldehyde, ketone, ester, nitrile, and alcohol. For smooth ketone formation, use of organofluorosilanes is essential; tetraorganosilanes like aryl(trimethyl)silanes, upon reaction with aryl iodides, gave aroyl fluorides instead.
