Two new species of the genus Ghilarovizetes (Acari: Oribatida: Ceratozetidae) from China

Two new species of oribatid mites, Ghilarovizetes labaheensis sp. nov. and Ghilarovizetes sichuanensis sp. nov. are described from China based on adult morphology. Ghilarovizetes labaheensis sp. nov. is characterized by rounded rostrum, lamella short and wide, tutorium narrow and concave medially, notogastral setae short-size as long as bothridial setae and four pairs of notogastral porose areas. The adult instar of Ghilarovizetes sichuanensis sp. nov. has large body size, rostrum concave medially, lamella long and narrow, notogastral setae minute and five pairs of notogastral porose areas (porose areas A1 divided into two parts).

Contribution to the knowledge of the oribatid mite genus Perxylobates (Acari, Oribatida, Haplozetidae)

Perxylobates hakkai n. sp. (Oribatida, Haplozetidae) is the second representative of the genus recorded in Taiwan; it is described based on adults from soil under Ricinus communis on a farm of the Agricultural Research and Extension Station in Miaoli District. The new species differs from related Perxylobates coreanus Choi and Aoki, 1993 by the presence of five pairs of genital setae (versus four pairs), four pairs of notogastral porose areas including A3 (versus three pairs, A3 absent), minute epimeral seta 1c (versus comparatively long), roughened epimeral and aggenital setae (versus heavily barbed), and smooth anterior part of prodorsum (versus foveolate). A revised generic diagnosis and an identification key to known species of Perxylobates are provided. The systematic placement of Perxylobates mahunkai Bayoumi, 1980 is discussed, resulting in the following new taxonomic proposal: Protoribates mahunkai (Bayoumi, 1980) n. comb.

Contribution to the knowledge of the oribatid mite genus Angulogalumna (Acari: Oribatida: Galumnidae)

ABSTRACTA new species of the genus Angulogalumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) is described from leaf litter in evergreen rain forest in the Montagne d’Ambre National Park of North Madagascar. Angulogalumna grishinae sp. nov. differs from Angulogalumna asiatica and Angulogalumna areolata by the presence of setiform bothridial seta, localization of lamellar seta medial to lamellar line, three pairs of notogastral porose areas, and notogastral porose area Aa elongate oval, A1 boomerang-form or banana-shaped, and by the absence of dorsosejugal suture and median pore. New Oripodoidea (Acari, Oribatida) from New Zealand

Two new species of oripodoid mites (Oribatida, Oripodoidea) are described from the Kahurangi National Park in New Zealand. Angullozetes kahurangiensis sp. n. (Scheloribatidae) differs from Angullozetes rostratus Hammer, 1967 by the rounded rostrum and clavate bothridial setae with minute stalk and large, elongated head, and from Angullozetes arilloi Ermilov et al., Ecol Mont 18:75–81, 2018 by the presence of aggenital setae and three pairs of notogastral porose areas. Totobates elatus sp. n. (Haplozetidae) differs from Totobates elegans (Hammer, 1958) and Totobates ovalis Hammer, 1967 by the lanceolate bothridial setae. An identification key to known species of Angullozetes is presented.

Taxonomic data on two species of oribatid mites of the family Galumnidae (Acari, Oribatida), with additions to the fauna of China

The present study is based on oribatid mite materials (Acari, Oribatida) collected from Macao SAR, southern China during 2016 to 2018. A list of identified taxa, including 25 species from 23 genera and 14 families, is presented; of these, 11 species and 1 genus are recorded for the first time in the fauna of this country, and 1 species is recorded for the first time in the Oriental region. The taxonomic data on two species of the family Galumnidae is provided. A new species, Dimiodiogalumna ilhaverdeensis Ermilov sp. nov. is described; it differs from Dimidiogalumna comoroensis Mahunka, 1994 by the presence of four pairs of notogastral porose areas and one strium on genital plates, and the absence of ridges on anal plates. The systematic placement of Acrogalumna bipartita Aoki & Hu, 1993 is discussed, resulting in the following taxonomic proposal: Allogalumna bipartita (Aoki & Hu, 1993) comb. nov.; the supplementary description of this species is presented based on specimens from China.

A new species of the genus Angullozetes (Oribatida: Scheloribatidae) is described from New Zealand. Angullozetes. arilloi sp. nov. differs from the type species, A. rostratus Hammer, 1967 by the smaller body length, the presence of four pairs of notogastral porose areas and the absence of aggenital setae. A revised generic diagnosis of Angullozetes is presented.

Two new species of oribatid mites of the genus Galumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) are described from litter and soil in the Korup National Park, Cameroon. Galumna korupensis sp. n. differs from Galumna tricuspidata Engelbrecht, 1969 by the smaller body size, the presence of two oval postanal porose areas, one tooth on each lamellar lines and striate genital plates, and the absence of median pore and lateral teeth on the rostrum. Galumna cameroonica sp. n. differs from Galumna incisa Mahunka, 1982 by the presence of long cilia on bothridial heads, band-like postanal porose area, striate genital plates, three pairs of notogastral porose areas, and the position of notogastral lyrifissures im.

New species of the genus Galumna (Acari, Oribatida, Galumnidae) from the Antilles

Two new species of the genus Galumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) are described from the Antigua and Aruba Islands (Lesser Antilles). Galumna ( Galumna ) antiguaensis sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to G. ( Galumna ) tetraporosa Ermilov, Martens & Tolstikov, 2014, but differs by the smaller body size, presence of three pairs of notogastral porose areas, short interlamellar seta and parallel lamellar and sublamellar lines. Galumna ( Neogalumna ) harrysmiti sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to G. ( Neogalumna ) curviporosa (Balakrishnan, 1986), but differs by the minute interlamellar seta, unusual long postanal porose area, band-like porose areas A2 and A3 , paraanal position of adanal lyrifissure and the presence of a median pore and longer bothridial seta.

A new species of oribatid mites of the genus Safrobates (Oribatida, Punctoribatidae) is described from the soil of alpine herbaceous snowbank of the Central Otago region in the South Island of New Zealand. Safrobates insignis sp. nov. differs from S. miniporus Mahunka, 1989 and S. gerdi Ermilov & Minor, 2016 in having penicillate subcapitular setae h, epimeral setae (except 1c) and aggenital setae, the presence of neotrichy on epimere I, four pairs of notogastral porose areas, six pairs of genital setae and tridactylous legs. Accessory information on Safrobates and the relevance of some morphological traits of the new species are discussed. A revised generic diagnosis is given, relationships of Safrobates, Macrogena and Magellozetes are discussed, and Magellozetes is transferred from Ceratozetidae to Punctoribatidae. An identification key to known species of Safrobates is provided.

New species and records of Galumna (Acari, Oribatida, Galumnidae) from Peru

Two new species of oribatid mites of the genus Galumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) are described based on specimens from upper soil and leaf litter in a primary evergreen lowland rainforest in Amazonian Peru. Galumna (Galumna) parazeucta n.sp. is morphologically most similar to Galumna (Galumna) neonominata Subias 2004 and G. (Galumna) pterolineata Hammer, 1972, but differs by the presence of strongly elongated notogastral porose areas Aa and A3. Galumna (Cosmogalumna) ekaterinae n.sp. is morphologically most similar to Galumna (C.) areticulata Ermilov, Sandmann, Klarner, Widyastuti and Scheu, 2015, but differs by the presence of three pairs of notogastral porose areas and epimeral setae 3c and 4c. The subgenus Galumna (Cosmogalumna) and species Galumna (Galumna) nuda Engelbrecht, 1972 are recorded in the Neotropical region for the first time; two species – Galumna (G.) angularis Jeleva, Scull and Cruz, 1984 and Galumna (G.) laselvae Balogh 1997 – are recorded in Peru for the first time.

Six species of oribatid mites of the genus Pergalumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) are collected from the German Expedition to Amazonian Peru in 2013; of these, three are new for science, described from upper soil and leaf litter in the primary evergreen lowland rainforest. Pergalumna (Pergalumna) parapassimpunctata sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to P. (P.) passimpunctata Balogh & Mahunka, 1969, but differs from the latter by the presence of foveolate body surface, two pairs of porose areas Aa and minute interlamellar setae, and the absence of porose areas A3. Pergalumna (Pergalumna) krisperi sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to P. (P.) cardosensis Pérez-Íñigo & Baggio, 1986, but differs from the latter by the smaller body size, rostral and lamellar setae of medium size and the presence of four pairs of notogastral porose areas. Pergalumna (Pergalumna) lenticulata sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to P. (P.) decorata Balogh & Mahunka, 1977, but differs from the latter by the larger body size and the presence of lenticulus and bidentate rostrum. The species Pergalumna (Pergalumna) bryani Jacot, 1934 is recorded for the first time in Peru.

A new species of oribatid mite of the genus Pergalumna (Oribatida, Galumnidae) is described from litter and soil materials in Sumatra, Indonesia. Pergalumna paraindistincta sp. n. is morphologically most similar to Pergalumna indistincta Ermilov & Anichkin, 2011, Pergalumna pertrichosa Mahunka, 1995 and Pergalumna sura Balogh, 1997; however, the new species differs from Pergalumna indistincta by the smaller body size, presence of long adanal setae ad1, and large, single median pore in females and males; from Pergalumna pertrichosa by the smaller body size, presence of three pairs of notogastral porose areas, elongated A1 and minute anal setae; from Pergalumna sura by the presence of strong adanal setae ad1, large, single median pore in females and males, and shorter bothridial setae. Furthermore, Pergalumna hawaiiensis hawaiiensis (Jacot, 1934) and Pergalumna panayensis Ermilov & Corpuz-Raros, 2015 are recorded for the first time in the Indonesian fauna. An identification key to the known species of Pergalumna in the Oriental region is given.

Two new species of Neophysobates (Acari, Oribatida, Tegoribatidae) from New Zealand

Two new species of oribatid mites of the monotypic genus Neophysobates (Oribatida, Tegoribatidae) from high alpine cushion fields in the Pisa Range, South Island, New Zealand are described. Neophysobates zealandicus n. sp. differs from N. monodactylus by the presence of bothridial seta with simple stalk and clavate, rounded distally head, a short adanal lyrifissure, and thickened seta pvo with attenuate tip on tarsus II. Neophysobates incrassatus n. sp. differs from N. monodactylus by the presence of bidactylous legs, three pairs of notogastral porose areas, thin rostral seta and tutorium without free tip. An identification key to the known species of Neophysobates is provided.

A new species of <em>Dimidiogalumna</em> (Acari: Oribatida: Galumnidae) from Vietnam, including a key to all species of the genus

A new species of Galumnidae, Dimidiogalumna grandjeani sp. nov., is described from bird’s nest (Black-andred Broadbill, Cymbirhynchus macrorhynchos) in southern Vietnam. It is the first member of this genus recorded from the Oriental Region. The new species is most similar to D. comoroensis Mahunka, 1994 in having the elongate notogastral porose areas Aa, however, it differs from the latter by the presence of four pairs of notogastral porose areas and the absence of anterior notogastral margin and ridges on anal plates. An identification key to the known species of Dimidiogalumna is given.

Four new species of the superfamily Galumnoidea (Acari: Oribatida) from Ecuador

Four new oribatid mite species of the superfamily Galumnoidea, Pergalumna paradecoratissima sp. nov., Pergalumnaparalongisetosa sp. nov., Pergalumna ecuadorensis sp. nov. and Galumnopsis lanceosensilla sp. nov., are described fromEcuador. The genus Galumnopsis is recorded for the first time for the Ecuador. Pergalumna paradecoratissima sp. nov.is very similar in having the combination of foveolate prodorsum, striate notogaster, setiform sensilli, interlamellar setaeshorter than lamellar and rostral setae, absence of anterior notogastral margin and three pairs of notogastral porose areas,to Pergalumna decoratissima Pérez-Íñigo & Baggio, 1986 from Brazil, however it differs from the latter by morphologyof rostrum, body size, surface of anal plates and length of epimeral setae. Pergalumna paralongisetosa sp. nov. is verysimilar in having the combination of setiform sensilli, long prodorsal setae, absence of anterior notogastral margin, threepairs of notogastral porose areas and long adanal setae ad 1 and ad 2 to Pergalumna longisetosa Balogh, 1960 from CentralAfrica, however it differs from the latter by body size, lengths of sensilli and interlamellar setae, absence of medial pore,length of epimeral setae. Pergalumna ecuadorensis sp. nov. can be distinguished from all similar species by having theround rostrum, setiform sensilli, long and setiform prodorsal setae, absence of anterior notogastral margin, smooth bodysurface and three pairs of oval notogastral porose areas, and by the very long interlamellar setae. Galumnopsis lanceosen-silla sp. nov. can be distinguished from all similar species (with smooth body surface) by the morphology of sensilli which are lanceolate, with tooth in distal part.

CERATOZETIDAE (ACARI: ORIBATIDA) OF ARBOREAL HABITATS

AbstractSix species of oribatid mites (Acari: Ceratozetidae) in six genera were recorded from a variety of arboreal habitats in western Canada, including the canopy of temperate rainforest, montane forest, and the leaves of shrubs. Four of these species are new to science and are described: Sphaerozetes winchesterisp.nov., on the basis of adults; and Dentizetes ledensissp.nov., Melanozetes crossleyisp.nov., and Neogymnobates marilynaesp.nov., on the basis of adults and immatures. Jugatala tuberosa Ewing is redescribed from both adults and immatures, a new observation being that adults have seven pairs of notogastral porose areas. The placement of the genus Jugatala Ewing in Ceratozetidae is confirmed. Latilamellobates baloghi (Mahunka) is newly recorded from North America, and the taxonomy of the genus is discussed. The major differences among these six species are presented in tabular format.
