Enantioselective Oxidative Coupling of β-Ketocarbonyls and Anilines by Joint Chiral Primary Amine and Selenium Catalysis.

An enantioselective primary amine-catalyzed total N-selective nitroso aldol reaction (N-NA) was achieved through the oxidation of primary aromatic amines to the corresponding nitrosoarenes catalyzed by selenium reagents and 30% H2O2. This protocol provides a facile and highly efficient access to α-hydroxyamino carbonyls bearing chiral quaternary centers under exceedingly mild and green reaction conditions with high chemo- and enantiocontrol.

Photocatalytic organic transformation by layered double hydroxides: highly efficient and selective oxidation of primary aromatic amines to their imines under ambient aerobic conditions.

We report the first application of layered double hydroxide as a photocatalyst in the transformation of primary aromatic amines to their corresponding imines with high efficiency and selectivity by using oxygen in an air atmosphere as a terminal oxidant under light irradiation.

Ultrasound-accelerated selective oxidation of primary aromatic amines to azoxy derivatives with trans-3,5-dihydroperoxy-3,5-dimethyl-1,2-dioxolane catalyzed by Preyssler acid-mediated nano-TiO2

Preyssler-type heteropolyacid supported on TiO2 nanoparticles has been explored as an efficient catalyst in selective oxidation of primary aromatic amines to azoxy derivatives using trans-3,5-dihydroperoxy-3,5-dimethyl-1,2-dioxolane as oxidant. The reactions proceeded smoothly under mild and green ultrasound-accelerated conditions to afford the products in high yields. The catalyst recovered from the reaction mixture exhibits long-term stability with no significant drop in its catalytic activity. .

Catalytic oxidation of primary aromatic amines with sodium periodate catalyzed by Mn(III)salophen complex supported on polystyrene-bound imidazole

The catalytic activity of Mn(III)salophen complex supported on polystyrene-bound imidazole, [Mn(salophen)Cl-PSI], was studied in the oxidation of primary aromatic amines in acetonitrile/water, using sodium periodate as an oxygen source. Amines were oxidized efficiently to their corresponding azo derivatives in the presence of this catalyst. The heterogeneous catalyst showed high stability and reusability in the oxidation reactions and could be reused several times without loss of its activity. The effect of different solvents was studied in the oxidation of p-toluidine and CH3CN/H2O was chosen as the solvent.

Concise preparation of azenes by oxidation of aromatic amines with molecular oxygen in subcritical water

Reaction of organic substrates with molecular oxygen, the most abundant and accessible oxidant, has always been an attractive method for preparation of target molecules. In terms of green chemistry, non-metal-catalyzed oxidation of organic substrates is very attractive. This paper describes a general procedure for synthesis of azenes by oxidation of primary aromatic amines with molecular oxygen (3O2) in subcritical water. The reactions afforded the corresponding azenes in moderate to good yield.

Oxidation of Primary Aromatic Amines under Irradiation with Ultrasound and/or Microwaves

The oxidation of primary aromatic amines, p-methylaniline, p-ethylaniline and p-chloroaniline to the corresponding azo- and azoxy-compounds has been observed in ultrasound and/or microwaves systems. The individual irradiation of microwaves and its simultaneous irradiation with ultrasound obviously elevate the conversion of amines, as compared with the individual irradiation of ultrasound and the heating in a plain water bath. However, the formation of formamidine resulted in poor selectivity toward azo and azoxy products in the presence of dimethylformamide (DMF).

The catalytic performance of Mn-tetraarylporphyrins in the highly selective oxidation of primary aromatic amines to azo compounds by Bu 4NHSO 5

The catalytic activity of Mn(TPP)OAc/imidazole system in the oxidation of aromatic amines using Bu 4NHSO 5 in CH 3CN, provides a rapid and highly selective method for the preparation of symmetrical azoarenes, in high/excellent yield (78–96%) and short time (<5 min). The selectivity of the reaction depends remarkably on both the axial ligand and the nature of the solvent. Electron-deficient anilines are oxidized slowly and yield azoxy arenes as the main product. The presence of an electron-donating group on the phenyl ring of both the aromatic amine and the porphyrin ligand of the catalyst enhances the oxidative reactivity of the amine as well as the catalytic activity of the Mn-catalyst. The high turn over rates obtained for Mn-porphyrin reflect the efficiency as well as the relative stability of this biomimetic catalyst towards oxidative degradation. Some evidences for the participation of an Mn-oxo species as active oxidant in this catalytic process have been obtained.

CuCl-catalyzed aerobic oxidative reaction of primary aromatic amines

The oxidations of primary aromatic amines were investigated. Cuprous chloride-air system can catalyze the oxidation of primary aromatic amines to azo derivatives, anils, and/or quinone anils. The experimental procedure is simple and the products could be easily isolated in high yields.

In Situ Generation of Nitroso Compounds from Catalytic Hydrogen Peroxide Oxidation of Primary Aromatic Amines and Their One‐Pot Use in Hetero‐Diels–Alder Reactions

AbstractA method for in situ generation of nitroso compounds from organoselenium‐catalyzed oxidation of anilines by hydrogen peroxide was developed. The generated nitroso compounds were subsequently used in hetero‐Diels–Alder reactions. A variety of oxazines were synthesized in reasonable to good yields by this one‐pot procedure using primary aromatic amines with different substituents and various conjugated dienes. This strategy might facilitate the current methodologies for nitroso chemistry since no isolation or purification of the nitroso compounds is required. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH &amp; Co. Catalytic performance of Preyssler heteropolyacid as a green and recyclable catalyst in oxidation of primary aromatic amines

Many substituted anilines were converted into the corresponding azoxy benzenes as major products, by hydrogen peroxide, using Preyssler catalyst. The ability of various Preyssler catalysts as pure, H 14[NaP 5W 30O 110], mixed addenda, H 14[NaP 5W 29MoO 110], and cetylpyridinium acidic salt, was investigated. In all cases, the highest yield of azoxy compounds was observed, using H 14[NaP 5W 30O 110] as catalyst. The oxidations of anilines with 30% H 2O 2 catalyzed by Preyssler catalysts in various solvents with different molar ratio of amine to oxidant, have been investigated and the results showed that the reaction yields were affected by changing the solvent as well as molar ratio of amine:oxidant.

Rapid and efficient oxidation of primary aromatic amines was investigated. Mn(III)-salophen catalyst can catalyze the oxidation of primary aromatic amines to azo derivatives with sodium periodate. The ability of various Schiff base complexes in this oxidation system was also investigated.
