Sensorless rotor field direct orientation controlled induction motor drive with particle swarm optimization algorithm flux observer

A speed estimation scheme based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm flux observer is proposed for a sensorless rotor field direct orientation controlled induction motor drive. The stator current and rotor flux was used to establish both the rotor field direct orientation controlled induction motor drive and the rotor-flux observer. The estimated synchronous angle position was acquired from a current-and-voltage parallel-model rotor estimator for implementation of the exact coordinate transformation to achieve a perfect rotor field direct orientation controlled induction motor drive. The rotor-flux observer was designed using the Lyapunov stability theory, and the estimated rotor speed was derived from the developed the rotor-flux estimator; this estimated speed was unaffected by the slip speed. The gain matrix of this flux observer was obtained using the particle swarm optimization algorithm because it is simple, achieves rapid convergence, and is suitable for a variety of conditions. This system was simulated using the MATLAB/Simulink® toolbox, and all the control algorithms were realized by a TI DSP 6713-and-F2812 control card. Both simulation and experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

MODELING AND SIMULATION OF FIELD ORIENTED CONTROL INDUCTION MOTOR DRIVE AND INFLUENCE OF ROTOR RESISTANCE VARIATIONS ON ITS PERFORMANCE

Induction motor with rotor flux based indirect field oriented control is well suited for high performance applications due to its excellent dynamic behavior. The overriding feature of this control method is its ease of implementation and linearity of the torque versus slip characteristics. But, the indirect field oriented controller is sensitive to variations in motor parameters, especially variation in rotor time constant. This paper presents the modeling and analysis of a voltage controlled rotor flux based indirect field oriented control induction motor motion control system. with detailed analysis of controller design in discrete system. The influence of rotor resistance variation on the performance of drive like effect on speed, rotor flux and electromagnetic torque under different operating is also studied.

2 Abstract: This Paper presents a comparative study of Z-N method and Genetic Algorithm method (GA) to determine the optimal proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller parameters, for speed control of a Field Oriented Control (FOC) induction motor; the GA algorithm has been programmed and implemented in MATLAB. Z-N method and trial and error and open loop IM has been modelled in MATLAB (SIMULINK).comparing with traditional Ziegler- Nicholson method, it has been observed that during optimizing the controller parameters of a FOC IM drive with evolutionary algorithms (EA), the performance of the controller is improved for the step input in speed control as well as for speed tracking problem more efficiently under no load condition, if the load is placed on IM, the performance characteristics have changed for ZN and trial and error method, but even if load change occur, there is no much variation in the evolutionary algorithms (GA) than and Ziegler - Nicholson method.

Sensorless Rotor-Field Oriented Controlled Induction Motor Drive with Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm Speed Controller Design Strategy

A sensorless rotor-field oriented control induction motor drive with particle swarm optimization algorithm speed controller design strategy is presented. First, the rotor-field oriented control scheme of induction motor is established. Then, the current-and-voltage serial-model rotor-flux estimator is developed to identify synchronous speed for coordinate transformation. Third, the rotor-shaft speed on-line estimation is established applying the model reference adaptive system method based on estimated rotor-flux. Fourth, the speed controller of sensorless induction motor drive is designed using particle swarm optimization algorithm. Simulation and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Speed Tracking of Indirect Field Oriented Control Induction Motor Using Neural Network

Development of a neural network (NN) based indirect field oriented control (IFOC) of induction motor (IM) drive is presented in this paper. The neural network indirect field oriented control (NNIFOC) is designed to generate signal of quadrature current, hence the motor speed will follow the reference speed value. The simulation model using Matlab/Simulink was developed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed controller. The simulation results show that the proposed NNIFOC schemes of IM drive is more effective and found to be a proper replacement of the proportional integral derivative (PID) controller.

SELF TUNING OF CLASS H INDUCTION MOTOR FIELD ORIENTED CONTROL

In this paper the steady state characteristics of a self tuned field oriented control induction motor drive are presented. The induction motor will be self tuning after one or more of its parameters varied. Both basic types of field oriented control have some sensitivity to machine parameters and provide non-ideal torque control characteristics when control parameters differ from actual machine parameters. In general, both steady state torque control and dynamic response differ from the ideal instantaneous torque control achieved by a correctly tuned controller.

Sensorless stator field orientation controlled induction motor drive with a fuzzy speed controller

A sensorless stator-field oriented control induction motor drive with a fuzzy logic speed controller is presented. First, a current-and-voltage parallel-model stator-flux estimator is established using measured phase currents and voltages of the induction motor. Then the estimated rotor shaft position is obtained from the magnitude and position of the estimated stator flux. The speed controller is developed by utilizing fuzzy logic control techniques. The control algorithms are realized by a DSP 6713 and, using a DSP F2812 to generate PWM signals to the power stage, drive the motor to experimentally validate the proposed approach.

A Sensorless Field Oriented Control of Induction Motor Using Ripple Currents in Space Phasor Based PWM Control

A scheme for sensorless flux estimation for the induction motor drives is presented in this paper, where the flux information is derived from the current ripple. The scheme measures the stator current phasor deviation to determine the back emf vector position during the zero vectors of the inverter. The position of the rotor flux is detected indirectly by computing the position of the motor back emf, which is orthogonal to the rotor flux position. The space vector PWM generates a current ripple pattern in the machine current, which depends upon the ripple voltage and equivalent stator leakage inductance. For high speed operation when the time duration for the zero vector switching states are small, an indirect method for estimation of flux position is proposed, where the effect of active voltage vectors on the stator ripple current is eliminated by creating a virtual short circuit at the motor terminals. This is achieved by linear transformation of the fundamental components of two immediate current space phasor deviations within a switching period. The whole scheme is implemented in a space phasor based PWM drive with constant inverter switching frequency. The position of the back emf is estimated for both high speed and low speed by implementing the proposed method in a TMS320LF2407 DSP based board.

A Simple Stator Flux Oriented Induction Motor Control

This paper presents a novel stator flux oriented induction motor control scheme. It utilises a sliding-mode controller in the stator flux control loop. The existence condition of sliding mode control is derived, and chattering suppression at steady-state is also considered. A proportional controller is used in the torque control loop to simplify the control scheme without compromising performance. Design formulas are given for the controller parameters. They are not based on the mathematical motor model but only need rated parameters. Experimental results are shown to prove the effectiveness of the control strategy in transient and steady state operations.

An Implementation of a Programmable Cascaded Low-Pass Filter for a Rotor Flux Synthesizer for an Induction Motor Drive

This paper investigates a programmable cascaded low pass filter for the estimation of rotor flux of an induction motor, with a view to estimate the rotor time constant of an indirect field orientation controlled induction motor drive. Programmable cascaded low pass filters have been traditionally used in stator flux oriented vector control of the induction motor. This paper extends the use of this filter to estimate the rotor flux for the indirect field orientation control by generating rotor flux estimates from stator flux estimates. This is achieved by using a three-stage programmable cascaded low pass filter. The three-stage programmable cascaded low-pass filter investigated in this paper has resulted in excellent estimation of rotor flux in the steady-state and transient operation of an indirect field oriented drive. The estimated rotor flux data have also been used for the on-line rotor resistance identification with artificial neural network. Modeling and experiment results presented in this paper demonstrate this method of estimating rotor flux clearly.

A digital current control technique for voltage-fed induction motor drives

Precise control of stator current is essential to high performance field orientationcontrolled induction motor drives. Any current error degrades the performance ofthe drive in the same way as incorrect tuning of field orientation. Previous researchhas shown that accurate current control can be achieved with intelligent butcomplex control algorithms. This paper presents a new current control schemewhich can achieve high accuracy and fast dynamic response but which is verysimple for microprocessor implementation. The scheme was derived using thediscrete state space modelling of the induction motor. The control law does notrequire knowledge of rotor flux and was independent of the field orientation controltuning. Good static and dynamic performances were obtained in both thesimulation and experimental verifications. The results also show that the leakageinductance model error might cause a current ripple. However, this parameter canbe tuned to its correct value easily by inspecting the current response.

Neuro-Fuzzy Controller in a Field Oriented Control for Induction Motors

This paper is intended to show how to replace a fuzzy controller by a neural network one in a rotor field oriented control for induction motors. The output surface of the fuzzy controller is approached by a neural network. The neural network structure used for this controller is presented as well as the learning process necessary to prepare the neural network controller to act like a fuzzy one.Experimental results on position control and speed control under load are presented and commented as well as a discussion and comparison with classical Pl controllers.

Steady-State Performance Evaluation of Saturated Field Oriened Induction Motors

Steady-state performance characteristics of the stator field oriented control, air-gap field oriented control and rotor field oriented control induction motor drives are compared. Effects of the magnetizing flux saturation on the magnetizing inductance and conductor temperature on the rotor resistance are rigorously included in the performance equations. Key performance indices, such as relative flux level, torque, motor efficiency, and input power factor, are compared when the drive is operating under constant torque and constant speed control. >
