Structure, CO-releasing property, electrochemistry, DFT calculation, and antioxidant activity of benzimidazole derivative substituted [Mn(CO)3(bpy)L]PF6 type novel manganese complexes

Metal carbonyl complexes are prominent group organometallic compounds because of their applications in industrial and pharmaceutical chemistry. In recent years, metal carbonyl complexes have been accepted major for storage and transportation of carbon monoxide which is an important signaling molecule significantly in pathogenesis of some diseases. Thus, we designed and synthesized novel manganese(I)carbonyl complexes with general formula [Mn(CO)3(bpy)L]PF6 (bpy=2,2-bipyridyl, L=N-(2-chlorobenzyl)benzimidazole, N-(2-methoxybenzyl)benzimidazole, N-(2-methylbenzyl)benzimidazole). The complex molecules were characterized by LC-MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, IR spectroscopy methods and elemental analysis. The CO-releasing properties, antioxidant activities and redox properties of these complexes were investigated. The DFT/TDDFT analyses were made by ORCA package program.

Non-Conventional Standpoint on Spin Crossovers in the Organometallic Compounds of Iron Group

We have considered the spin crossover (SC) complex compounds containing spin-active metal ions of iron group, which can induce the spin transitions (ST) of high spin (HS) – low spin (LS) type under influence of temperature (TIST), pressure (PIST) or light (LIESST) from non-conventional point of view. We have analyzed the physical peculiarities of the studied ST systems observed in numerous papers for X ray, spectral, calorimetric and magnetic measurements. On this basis, we suppose that ST (for example, in bulk of SC compounds with TIST) can be considered as phase transitions (PT) of post-critical type (PCT)

Probing Intramolecular Interactions in Arylselenides Using a Property Descriptor Based Approach

Although a large volume of experimental evidence is available on the existence of intramolecular nonbonding interactions between chalcogen atoms in main group organometallic compounds, the primary focus has been on the contact distances involving the chalcogen atoms. The important class of intramolecular Se...X (where X is O, S, N) nonbonding interaction in a series of organoselenium compounds is quantified using a new scheme based on a molecular property descriptor. In the present study, we have employed the nucleus-independent chemical shift [NICS(0)] values, as a property descriptor to evaluate the strength of exocyclic nonbonding interactions in a series of aryl selenides. The ab initio MP2 as well as density functional theory methods have been used in conjunction with Dunning's cc-pVDZ basis set. The quantified values of Se...X nonbonding interactions are compared with other schemes based on thermochemical equations such as homodesmic and ortho-para methods. The changes in NICS(0) values at the aryl ring center are found to be sensitive to the strength of exocyclic Se...X interaction.

Features of Joint Thermolysis of Organometallic Compounds of Group III and V Elements

The kinetic data on thermolysis of equimolar gaseous mixtures of organometallic compounds of Group III and V elements show that the thermal stability of the mixture differs from that of the components taken separately, which is mainly due to complexation between the mixture components. The complex is a kinetically active species. The rate of joint thermolysis of the organometallic compounds grows as the number of hydride atoms at the Group V element increases in the order AsMe3 < t-BuPH2 < AsH3. The stability of the complexes formed by organometallic compounds of Group III and V elements decreases in the same order. Joint thermolysis of Me3Ga and AsH3 yields a solid oligomer Me2GaAs(H)Ga(Me)AsH2. The complicated pattern of decomposition of a mixture of trimethylaluminum with various electron donors is due to participation in the pyrolysis of two trimethylaluminum species: monomeric and dimeric. In decomposition of pure trimethylaluminum or its mixtures with organometallic compounds of Group V elements or with ether, solid pyrolysis products deposited on the vessel walls catalyzed further transformations of the mixture components.

Dibenzotetraaza[14]annulenes: versatile ligands for transition and main group metal chemistry

This article presents an overview of the chemistry of metal complexes of dibenzotetraaza[14]annulene ligands and highlights most of the recent developments. The title tetraazamacrocycles are related to the porphyrins but have a smaller N4 coordination cavity ‘hole size’ and typically possess a non-planar, saddle-shaped conformation. The similarity of the dibenzotetraaza[14]annulenes to the porphyrins means that these synthetic macrocycles are of bioinorganic relevance, while their distinctive individual characteristics make them interesting ligands in their own right. In early transition metal chemistry, for example, the dibenzotetraaza[14]annulenes have been studied as potential alternatives to the ubiquitous bis(η-cyclopentadienyl) ligand set, while later transition metal derivatives can mimic certain biological systems and act as precursors to electroactive polymeric films. The dibenzotetraaza[14]annulenes have also recently allowed advances in structural and reactivity studies of main group organometallic and coordination compounds, including the stabilisation of new metal–chalcogenide multiple bonds.

Studies of adducts of main group organometallic compounds by Fourier transform Raman spectroscopy

Fourier transform (FT)-Raman spectroscopy has been used to study species that play a part in Metal Organic Vapour Phase Epitaxy (MOVPE). These compounds include N-donor adducts of (CH 3) 2Cd and (CH 3) 3Ga and the dimeric species [(CH 3) 2GaN(CH 3) 2] 2 which is a likely intermediate in the thermal production of the wide band gap semi-conductor GaN from (CH 3) 3Ga.N(CH 3) 2H. A search using FT-Raman spectroscopy for possible adducts of (CH 3) 2Cd and (C 2H 5) 2Cd with Te-donor molecules is also described. It is found that FT-Raman spectroscopy with near-infrared excitation is a particularly suitable method for studying adducts containing nitrogen heterocycles which show strong fluorescence under visible irradiation. Thus the Raman spectra of the adducts (CH 3) 2Cd.2,2′-bipyridyl and (CH 3) 2Cd.1,10-phenanthroline, which are bright yellow, have been measured.

Reactivity of intermetallic thin films formed by the surface mediated decomposition of main group organometallic compounds

We have observed that by the reaction of silane with clean Ni, Rh, Pt, Mo, Ta, W, Cu, and Au surfaces at elevated temperatures, thin alloy and intermetallic compound phases can be prepared. For example, SiH4 reacts with atomically clean nickel surfaces to give a &amp;gt;50 Å surface film of predominantly Ni2Si. Subsequent reaction with oxygen leads to the formation of a thin passivating layer of SiO2; structurally similar materials were also obtained from the direct reaction of silane with oxidized nickel surfaces. Our results from studies on a wide variety of metal surfaces suggest a general procedure for the preparation of passivating, non-native oxide thin films. The scope of this methodology as regards applicable metals and reactive gases, and the physical and chemical properties of several representative materials is discussed.

Improved 2DEG mobility in selectively doped GaAs/N-AlGaAs grown by MOCVD using triethyl organometallic compounds

In AlGaAs grown by MOCVD, carbon incorporation into the AlGaAs layer is discussed. For AlGaAs grown by trimethyl organometallic compounds, trimethyl aluminium and trimethyl gallium, remarkable carbon incorporation of up to about 1018 cm−3 is observed, although the carbon concentration decreases with the increase of the mole fraction ratio of arsine (AsH3) to III group organometallic compounds, [AsH3]/[III]. On the other hand, the use of triethyl organometallic compounds, triethyl aluminium and triethyl gallium, results in less carbon incorporation (∼1016 cm−3 independently of [AsH3]/[III]. Moreover, in selectively doped GaAs/n-Al0.3Ga0.7As heterostructures, two dimensional electron gas (2DEG) mobility is considerably improved using triethyl organometallic compounds in place of trimethyl organometallics. A 2DEG mobility of 445 000 cm2/V s is obtained for the SD heterostructure with a sheet electron concentration of 5.1 × 1011 cm−2 at 2 K.
