Exploration of the Relationship between Organizational Culture and Its Performance in the Bangladeshi Microfinance Sector with Organizational Innovation as a Mediating Factor

This study aims to explore the relationship between organizational culture and organizational performance, whereas organizational innovation is focused on as a mediating variable in the microfinance organization in Bangladesh. The current study looks at organizational culture, covering mission, employee involvement, and adaptability. Organizational performance is defined by four variables: productivity, effectiveness, efficiency, and quality, while organizational innovation is determined by four variables: innovation strategy, intellectual capital, new process development, and new product development. The study used a self-administered questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. The data were collected from 300 middle and senior managers and considered Bangladesh's top fifty microfinance organizations. The hypotheses and connections between the constructs were empirically tested using structural equation modeling (SEM) along with the partial least squares (PLS) approach. The findings indicate that organizational culture positively affects organizational innovation and firm performance. Organizational innovation has a strong positive impact on organizational performance. On the other hand, organizational innovation mediates the indirect relationship between organizational culture and performance. The study's findings indicate that executives, entrepreneurs, and policy developers should focus on business culture and organizational innovation in addition to increasing efficiency and maintaining a competitive advantage.

Research on the Influence Mechanism of Artificial Intelligence Capability on Ambidextrous Innovation

With the continuous development and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, enterprises have realized the importance of possessing artificial intelligence capabilities to enhance organizational performance. However, there is still a relative lack of empirical research on how to build AI capabilities, and how AI capabilities impact organizational innovation performance. Based on the resource-based theory, this study constructs a conceptual model of “AI Capabilities - Organizational Response (Organizational Learning and Organizational Agility) - Ambidextrous Innovation”, exploring the direct impact of AI capabilities on ambidextrous innovation, and the mediating effects of organizational learning and organizational agility, also the moderating role of digital strategy in this linkage. With data from 253 survey questionnaires of Chinese enterprises, the results indicate that: first, AI capabilities have a significantly positive impact on organizational ambidextrous innovation;  second, organizations with high levels of organizational learning ability and agility can better leverage AI capabilities to promote the development of ambidextrous innovation;  Thirdly, digital strategy has played an active role in regulating the influence path of two-way innovation within the organization and provided sufficient boundary conditions; fourth, The data capability, technological capability, and fundamental resource capability of AI capabilities have differentiating effects on exploratory and exploitative innovations. The findings of this research hold significant theoretical and managerial value for understanding the driving mechanisms of organizational innovation performance in the era of AI.

Closing the Innovation Performance Gap: Open Innovation in Military Bureaucracies

This article explores the effects of open innovation on innovation performance in military bureaucracies. While the understanding of how bureaucratic organizations can benefit from open innovation is still limited, this study discovered that open innovation can have a negative effect on innovation performance. However, leveraging an innovative culture can lead to improved innovation performance in organizations characterized by high levels of structure and hierarchy, especially those where secrecy and security are of vital importance.

How does a parent’s knowledge influence the knowledge bridging of joint ventures?

Previous research has underscored the significance of the equity investment relationship in facilitating knowledge transfers between a joint venture and its parent company. Successful knowledge bridging in joint ventures plays a crucial role in shaping organizational learning and innovation performance outcomes. The empirical evidence on the effectiveness of knowledge transfers, however, presents a mixed picture. Through a rigorous sample selection process, we collect panel data on 366 joint venture-year observations across four industries during an 18-year period to empirically test the proposed hypotheses. In this research, we contend that the ability of joint ventures to act as knowledge bridges depends on the diversity of the parent’s knowledge and the technological similarity between the joint venture and the parent, especially in the context of internal knowledge development. An examination of bridging performance in the relationship between joint ventures and parent companies indicates that both parental knowledge diversity and joint venture – parent technology similarity positively impact the knowledge acquired through the joint venture – parent equity relationship. Furthermore, when the joint venture strongly depends on internal knowledge, the positive relationship among parental knowledge diversity, joint venture – parent technology similarity, and joint venture knowledge bridging becomes more pronounced. Our findings shed light on how the specific features of a parent company contribute to the knowledge learning bridged by a joint venture and underscore the role of equity investments in joint venture firms’ innovation.

KEY FACTORS OF PROMOTING INNOVATIVE PERFORMANCE IN AGRIBUSINESS SMEs: PROJECT AN EMPIRICAL METHOD

The main goal of the research is to determine the effects of the selected factors (organization culture, organization learning, market orientation and innovation culture) on the innovation performance of small and medium-sized enterprises in agribusiness. The Structural Equation Modeling method was used to test the research hypotheses. The results showed that the selected factors are significant determinants of innovative performance. In addition, the relationship between organizational culture and innovation performance, as well as organizational learning and innovation performance, was found to be fully mediated, and the relationship between market orientation and innovation performance was found to be partially mediated by innovation culture. Small and medium-sized businesses should be empowered in the globalized and fiercely competitive market of today by fostering product innovation, investing in the development of human resources and technology, and broadening their market reach. These initiatives are essential to enhancing their marketing plans and successfully taking on competitors.

More cognitive heterogeneity and transformation leadership is always better? Interdisciplinary collaboration in original academic innovation in China

ABSTRACT In the realm of scientific research, interdisciplinary collaboration stands out as a vital manifestation of organisational heterogeneity, exerting a substantial influence on organisational innovation performance. While there exists academic scrutiny on the correlation between heterogeneity and innovation performance, the deconstruction of heterogeneity has not received sufficient attention, particularly regarding cognitive heterogeneity. In this study, we posit cognitive heterogeneity as the independent variable in scientific cooperation, with the original innovation performance of research teams as the response variable. To accentuate the nuances of original innovation, we have adapted the performance evaluation model accordingly. Additionally, we introduce transformational leadership as a moderating variable to explore its impact on the main effect. Our findings reveal that cognitive heterogeneity indeed affects original innovation performance. However, the effects of its sub-dimensions are varied, mirroring the nuanced nature of interdisciplinary collaboration. Similarly, the moderating effect of transformational leadership demonstrates mixed outcomes. This study seeks to advance theoretical frameworks elucidating interdisciplinary collaboration in the Chinese context. A specific focus is placed on delving into the realm of original innovation within research teams in Chinese universities. Ultimately, our research aims to offer practical insights for enhancing interdisciplinary collaboration within research teams.

Complementary effects of information systems strategic assets and enabling roles of information systems on innovation performance of banking organizations

AbstractBanking organizations improve innovation performance by recognizing rare strategic assets and efficient use of information systems. This study explored the role of information systems in enhancing internal operational effectiveness and leveraging firm capabilities for strategic positions. Using a mixed‐method design, 11 participants in six banking organizations in Ghana were interviewed to gather data. The results indicate IT contribution, organizational learning, and IS‐related human are the most significant attributes that positively impact innovation performance. Corroborating qualitative and experimental results identified new products, improved operational processes, improved product functionalities, and innovation strategy as the key innovation performance factors. While the information systems strategic assets have minimal effect, the enabling role of information systems has a moderate impact on innovation performance. In contrast to either information systems strategic assets or the enabling role of information systems alone, the results show their complimentary effect on innovation performance is considerably higher.

Pengaruh Organizational Ambidexterity pada Organization Innovation Performance dalam Industri Perbankan Indonesia

In an era of business characterized by rapid technological changes like today, it becomes extremely crucial for organizations to continuously enhance their innovation performance. In the effort to achieve improved innovation performance, companies must implement the concept of organizational ambidexterity to have a positive impact on organizational innovation performance. Therefore, this research focuses on exploring the relationship between exploration strategy and exploitation strategy with organizational innovation performance. Participants in this study are employees working in the banking industry in Indonesia, with a total of 278 respondents. The analysis in this study was conducted using Smart PLS 3.0 software. The research results indicate that both exploration strategy and exploitation strategy have a positive influence on organization innovation performance.

Exploring the Impact of Proactive Personality on Organizational Innovative Performance in Higher Education: The Mediating Role of Innovative Work Behavior

One of the challenges in improving the innovative performance of higher education institutions is the proactive attitude and innovative work behavior of lecturer. This research aims to analyze the influence of proactive personality and innovative work behavior on increasing organizational innovative performance. The data analysis process uses AMOS version 22 with the SEM (Structural Equation Model) application. There are 216 lecturers as the unit of analysis from 17 private universities accredited as superior and A in Jakarta, Indonesia. Research findings show that proactive personality (PP) and innovative work behavior (IWB) have a positive and significant effect on the innovative performance of higher education. In addition, IWB plays a positive and significant role as a mediator in increasing the influence of PP on organizational innovative performance. Therefore, universities need to create a work atmosphere that supports the proactive attitude of lecturers and allows the emergence of innovative work behavior.

Cultivating sustainable innovation: The role of environmental leadership in improving innovation performance

This study explores the complex connections between green innovation, environmental leadership, innovation climate, and innovation performance in organizations within Saudi Arabia's industrial sectors. The research aims to uncover the detailed interactions among these factors and highlight their importance in a region known for its environmental challenges and industrial significance. A detailed survey involving 251 participants was conducted, and the data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The study investigates how innovation climate mediates the relationship between green innovation and innovation performance and how environmental leadership modifies this relationship. The findings emphasize the critical role of green innovation and show a positive link between innovation performance and innovation climate. Environmental leadership is identified as crucial in enhancing the positive effects of green innovation on performance. However, an unexpected negative relationship between innovation climate and innovation performance was found, indicating that more research is needed in this area. These results are significant for organizational leaders who are trying to manage sustainability, leadership, and innovation amidst changing environmental and economic conditions.

The effect of financial culture, risk management, organizational innovation on organizational performance in private higher education: Organizational resilience as mediating variable

This study aims to determine the effect of financial culture, risk management, and organizational innovation on the performance of private tertiary institutions with organizational resilience as a mediating variable. The independent variables used are financial culture, risk management, and organizational innovation, while the dependent variable used is organizational performance, and the mediating variable used is organizational resilience. The method used in this study is a survey method, where data is obtained from the results of collection using a questionnaire. The population in this study were lecturers at private tertiary institutions in the LLDikti III area. The sampling technique was carried out using the proportionate stratified random sampling method. The sample in this study were 355 respondents. The analysis tool used is SmartPLS 3 with the path analysis method. The results of this study state that financial culture, risk management, and organizational innovation have a positive and significant effect on organizational resilience. Then financial culture, risk management, organizational innovation, and organizational resilience have a positive and significant effect on organizational performance. This research also shows that organizational resilience mediates the relationship between financial culture and organizational performance and also between organizational innovation and organizational performance. Meanwhile, organizational resilience failed to mediate the effect of risk management on organizational performance.

Employee Creativity as Moderation between Ambidexterity Organization and Innovation Performance: SMEs in East Kalimantan

Product innovation is a point of interest for consumers to buy products. Organizational ambidexterity is the company's ability to pursue innovation through exploitative and explorative means, thereby influencing employee innovative performance. Technology readiness by organizations and employees is a benchmark for the success of product development. The problem that often occurs is that not all employees are ready for technology and innovation which has an impact on increasing innovation and product performance. Product innovation certainly cannot be separated from employee creativity. Creativity is important in creating competitive advantage and creative industry erformance. The purpose of this research is to investigate the importance of developing organizational ambidexterity and organizational technology readiness as well as employee creativity in improving organizational innovation performance. By doing this, this research tested the moderation of employee creativity (EC) on the relationship between organizational ambidexterity (AO) and innovation performance (IP). By applying a quantitative and cross- sectional design and analyzing the results of a questionnaire on 100 SMEs in East Kalimantan, it was found that AO had a positive and significant effect on IP, while EC had a positive and significant effect on AO but had a negative and insignificant effect on IP. EC moderates and has a positive and significant influence on the relationship between AO and IP as well as AO and IP. This research contributes to the advancement of organizational capability theory by adding the important role of employee creativity in achieving innovation performance.

The effect of social media use on organizational performance and innovation in private higher education

Higher education is currently facing a myriad of complex and diverse challenges. Increasing global competition, rapid developments in educational technology, and mounting pressures related to cost management and financing are factors that can significantly impact the higher education landscape. The aim of this research is to analyze the extent to which social media use can enhance organizational performance, ultimately influencing the organization's ability to foster innovation. This study employs a quantitative approach, collecting data through a questionnaire distributed to 205 respondents, consisting of faculty members working in private universities in Bandung, Indonesia. The questionnaire is designed using a 7-point Likert scale and distributed through an online survey platform. The research findings indicate that social media use has a positive and significant relationship with organizational performance and innovation performance in higher education. These findings are reinforced by the mediating role of organizational performance, explaining a significant portion of the positive influence of social media on innovation performance. The implications of these findings provide a foundation for universities to optimize the use of social media as a strategic tool in achieving performance goals and fostering innovation in the higher education environment.

Intellectual Capital and Sustainable Organizational Performance in Banking Sector of Pakistan: Examine the Mediating Role of Organizational Innovation

Purpose: 21st century witnesses a great shift from production-oriented businesses to knowledge oriented and technology-driven businesses, where intangible resources play a pivotal role in value creation for the organizations. In this dynamic intellectual capital   and competitive environment, global economy is shifting from a tangible resource economy to an intangible resource economy. The aim of this study was to investigate how the intellectual capital components and organizational innovation influence sustainable organizational performance.
 Design/Methodology/Approach: A survey was conducted to collect data from the banking sector professionals working in Pakistan. Simple random technique was employed, 329 responses were collected. The data was analyzed through SmartPLS.
 Findings: Results reveals that intellectual capital components have positive and significant association with organizational innovation and sustainable organizational performance. Current study also demonstrates the partial mediation of organizational innovation between the association of intellectual capital components and sustainable organizational performance.
 Implications/Originality/Value: It is concluded that intellectual capital and its components help the organizations to enhance their organizational innovation, which would ultimately boost sustainable organizational performance. Current study findings would provide useful insights for researchers, managers, and practitioners.

Data-Driven Decision Making in Battery Technology – How to Compete in Global Battery Industry?

Battery technology is regarded as a crucial key technology for the energy transition and thus a sustainable future, as batteries can store and distribute renewable energy to cover electricity demand when energy sources such as sun and wind are not available. They also promote fossil fuel independency and play an important role in fostering zero-emission mobility. Driven by the urge to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the Paris Climate Agreement, the battery industry is gaining increasing global interest in society, politics, industry and research.Strategic smart decisions for a sustainable and efficient resource allocation are particularly relevant in this context and are considered a key challenge for organizations to succeed through strong innovation in the competitive battery industry. Especially against the increasing competitive pressure for comparatively high-cost and heavily regulated industrial locations, such as Europe, due to the billion-dollar inflation reduction act in the U.S. and the resulting duty of policymakers to react, strategic decisions in the battery industry are coming more and more into focus.Data-driven research is of great importance for strategic decision making in battery technology. Given the enormous amount of Big Data available today, data science analyses are essential to identify and visualize relevant insights in terms of hidden patterns, relationships, and trends. Policy makers, executives, and R&D managers benefit from the advantages of data-driven approaches, as they are thus able to make informed decisions, enabling them to achieve the goals of the energy transition by advancing the development of battery technology.Therefore, supporting strategic decision-making in the battery industry using data-based analytics has high potential to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation power of organizations in the battery industry, as well as to empower their strategic direction, so that the research domain is also gaining increasing relevance and attention in academia.This study addresses the topic of data-driven strategic decision making in battery technology by pursuing the following research questions: Which data-driven research studies on strategic decision making in battery technology exist so far?Which gaps for future research can be identified along the battery design hierarchy in this area?Which geographic regions are regarded as technology leaders in the global battery industry in different technology areas?Which scientific recommendations have been identified in the literature for policy makers, researchers, and managers in battery technology? In a first step, a novel AI-based search methodology using machine learning and text mining was applied to identify 61 relevant publications on data-driven strategic decision making in battery technology at the interface of electrochemistry, data science and business/politics, which were structured and reviewed for further analysis within a next step.By conducting a bibliographic analysis using network analysis and descriptive statistics, to the best of the authors' knowledge, for the first time an overview of the entire research field of data-driven decision making in battery technology was provided and trends in intensity, geographic distribution, and knowledge diffusion of the research field were examined. This is an incrementally expanding, emerging research area that has attracted immense interest, particularly in recent years, as evidenced by a significant increase in research intensity. The USA could be identified as the most research-intensive country in this field, followed by Germany and Spain.In a following analysis of potential research gaps for future research, it became clear that the application and technology levels, especially electric vehicles and lithium-ion batteries (LIB) have been the focus of the scientific literature, whereas battery components and materials, especially separators and safety devices, offer potential for future research.As part of a geostrategic analysis, it was possible to identify the technology leaders for each battery application, technology, component, and material. Asian countries (China, Japan, South Korea) and the USA tend to be the leaders in many technologies, but a differentiated view of individual technology segments provides insight that European countries, such as Germany and France, are also leaders in topics such as LIB electrolytes and certain LIB anode materials. In addition, the science-based recommendations were extracted from the literature at the application, technology, component, and material levels. Finally, implications for policy, industry and research could be derived from the combined consideration of the geostrategic analysis and the science-based literature recommendations.The analytical "outside of the box" research approach to efficient and sustainable resource allocation in battery technology presented in this research paper supports policy makers, managers and researchers in strategic decision making regarding technological areas and business strategies to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation performance of organizations in the battery industry.

Green knowledge management: A key driver of green technology innovation and sustainable performance in the construction organizations

The primary objective of this research is to examine the effects of green knowledge management (GKM) on green technological innovation (GTI) and sustainable performance in construction firms. The study also investigates the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a moderator of the relationship between GKM and green human capital (GHC). A survey questionnaire was used to obtain data from 309 construction firms in Pakistan, and the AMOS-24 and SPSS PROCESS macro software packages were used to test the hypotheses. The findings revealed that GKM had significant positive impacts on GTI and long-term performance. Aspects of GIC (e.g., green structural capital, green relational capital, and green human capital) were found to be significant mediators of GKM and GTI interactions and correlations between GKM and sustainable performance. Furthermore, the study showed that AI significantly influenced the relationship between GKM and GHC. The study's findings have important theoretical and practical implications for organizations and governments. The study theoretically contributes to the knowledge-based view of the firm by providing empirical evidence of the role of various GIC characteristics as mediators in the interactions between GKM, GTI, and sustainable performance. In practice, the findings suggest that firms can improve GTI and sustainable performance by investing in GKM and GIC.
