To provide excellent care to patients and to maintain seamless functioning of healthcare facilities it is crucial to have effective hospital management system. Hospital management system presently is incorporating analytical approach to optimize work flow, for enhancement of resource utilization, and for providing comprehensive insurance assistance to patients. The technologies are highly crucial for workflow optimization, allocation of resources, scheduling of patients, and management of finances. There are various challenges faced by hospital management system like integration of data from diversified sources like billing system, administrative database, EHRs, and data accuracy and consistency. Safeguarding of data security is highly important that need strong security and adhering to rules and regulation as per the “Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.” The importance of Information Technology is reducing rising costs of healthcare and improving quality of services. There is a need to address such challenges and identify the best way of technology implementation. A sample of 249 was collected from different departments in Hospital. The factors that identify the Challenges in the Implementation of Technology in effective Hospital Management System are High Initial Costs, Resistance to Change, Training and Skill Development, and Regulatory and Compliance Challenges.

Hybrid Agile-Kanban frameworks for workflow adaptability: A proposed solution for innovation in project management

Agile and Kanban methodologies have become indispensable in modern project management, emphasizing workflow adaptability, iterative processes, and streamlined task prioritization to meet dynamic project requirements. However, traditional applications of these methodologies often face challenges such as workflow inefficiencies, misaligned task priorities, and bottlenecks caused by static configurations and manual adjustments. A hybrid approach that combines Agile methodologies with Kanban principles, including visualization tools and flow control, offers a promising solution to these challenges. This paper presents a comprehensive exploration of a Hybrid Agile-Kanban Framework (HAKF), designed to enhance project workflow optimization, team collaboration, and task execution. By integrating artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time feedback loops and dynamic task prioritization, the proposed framework addresses common bottlenecks and resource imbalances, enabling more efficient and scalable project management practices. Despite its transformative potential, challenges such as tool integration, scalability, and initial adoption barriers must be addressed for widespread implementation. To mitigate these issues, this paper introduces a conceptual HAKF model that seamlessly integrates with existing project management tools, providing actionable insights for optimizing workflows. This study lays a foundation for future research into hybrid methodologies, advancing the potential of Agile-Kanban integration to create more efficient and adaptive project management systems.

Nurses' and Nursing Assistants' Experiences With Teleconsultation in Small Rural Long-Term Care Facilities: Semistructured Interview Pilot Study.

In Quebec, the shortage of nurses during night shifts compromises the safety and quality of resident care, particularly in small residential and long-term care centers ("Centres d'hébergement et de soins de longue durée"; CHSLDs) located in rural areas. The need to ensure the continuous presence of nurses 24 hours a day in CHSLDs has become more pressing, forcing some facilities to implement exceptional measures such as on-call telephone services to ensure access to a nurse. In light of these challenging circumstances, the Direction nationale des soins et des services infirmiers of Quebec's Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux has rolled out a teleconsultation pilot project. This study aims to explore nurses' and nursing assistants' experience of integrating teleconsultation during night shifts in rural CHSLDs with ≤50 residents. The 6-month pilot project was rolled out sequentially in 3 rural CHSLDs located in 2 administrative regions of Quebec between July 2022 and March 2023. A total of 18 semistructured interviews were conducted with 9 nurses and nursing assistants between February and July 2023. Participants' experiences revealed that teleconsultation provided significant added value by improving clinical, administrative, and organizational practices. Some practices remained unchanged, indicating stable workflows. Workflow optimization through an expanded scope of practice ensured efficient and safe continuity of care. Enhanced collaboration between nurses and nursing assistants led to improved care coordination and communication. The leadership played a significant role in clarifying professionals' roles and in supporting effective adaptation to teleconsultation. This pilot project represents a significant step forward in improving care for CHSLD residents in Quebec. Teleconsultation not only makes it possible to overcome recruitment challenges and ensure the continuous presence of nurses during night shifts but also optimizes professional practices while ensuring the safety and quality of care provided to residents.

The integration of AI and US technology represents a transformative advancement in facial aesthetics. Separate-Layer Injection Scheme Optimization Based on Integrated Injection Information With Artificial Neural Network and Residual Network

Abstract Separate-layer injection technology is a highly significant approach for enhancing oil recovery in the later stages of oilfield production. Both separate-layer and general injection information are crucial parameters in multi-layer oilfield injection systems. However, the significance of general injection information is usually overlooked during the optimization process of separate-layer injection. Moreover, conventional optimization schemes for separate-layer injection fail to meet the immediate and dynamic demands of well production. Consequently, a separate-layer injection optimization method based on artificial neural network and residual network (ANN-Res) model was proposed. Firstly, the primary controlling factors for production were identified through grey correlation analysis and ablation experiments. Then, a data-driven model was established with an artificial neural network (ANN), in which the residual block was utilized to incorporate general injection information, eventually forming an ANN-Res model that integrates separate-layer and general injection information. Finally, a workflow for separate-layer injection optimization was designed in association with the ANN-Res model. Analysis of primary controlling factor for production shows that the combination of separate-layer and general injection information for production prediction leads to redundancy. The results of injection–production prediction demonstrate that the ANN-Res model is significantly better than that of the ANN model which only inputs separate-layer or general injection information. Furthermore, the result of optimization proves the proposed method can be successfully applied to injection optimization, realizing the purpose of increasing oil production and decreasing water cuts, thereby improving oilfield development.

Maximizing Laboratory Turnaround Time Efficiency: Workflow Optimization in Resource-Limited Settings

Laboratory Turnaround Time (TAT) is a critical metric in assessing the quality of laboratory services, directly impacting diagnostic speed and patient outcomes. Many laboratories in resource-constrained environments face challenges such as inefficiencies in workflow, resource limitations, and administrative redundancies, which hinder optimal TAT performance. This research aims to optimize laboratory workflow to improve TAT efficiency in a resource-constrained environment, addressing workload variability, inefficient station grouping, and administrative overlap. The research, which was conducted at the Tanah Abang Puskesmas Laboratory from May to July 2022, consisted of three stages: observation and data collection, workflow optimization, and evaluation. Interventions included task reallocation, workflow segmentation, and administrative streamlining. TAT improvement was assessed from the Complete Blood Count (CBC) and Random Blood Glucose (RBG) tests using pre- and post-intervention analysis. The results showed that after optimization, the mean TAT for the CBC test decreased significantly from 36 minutes (SD = 13.4) to 25.6 minutes (SD = 4.1), p-value <0.05. For the RBG test, the TAT increased from 88.6 minutes (SD = 4.6) to 81.1 minutes (SD = 1.4), p-value < 0.01. This intervention demonstrates the feasibility and effectiveness of lean management strategies in a resource-constrained environment. This research has implications for emphasizing the importance of systematic workflow optimization to improve laboratory efficiency. This research highlights practical and scalable solutions that can be adopted in similar settings globally, and future efforts should focus on integrating advanced technologies such as Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) to further improve accuracy, efficiency and patient outcomes.

Profit-sensitive generative design for high-rise building morphologies: innovations in 3D form generation and cost-revenue assessment

ABSTRACT Generative design has been applied to facilitate architectural exploration and augment designers’ ability to consider building profits. However, the take-up of generative design instruments is slow due to the lack of considering practical needs. This paper reports a novel generative design methodology that meets the practical needs of profit-aware morphology for high-rise buildings. It follows a generation–evaluation–optimization workflow but is enriched with a novel shape generator; an evaluator estimating construction cost and selling revenue; and an optimizer using genetic algorithms. The methodology is prototyped in Grasshopper with Python programs embedded and then tested in two real cases in Hong Kong. We find that the methodology is effective in generating complex yet plausible morphologies for high-rises, evaluating their costs and revenues, and deriving profit-optimal buildings. This research contributes to the growing literature on generative design and could lead to a practical design tool that bridges designers and surveying professions.

Photon-Counting Detector CT: Advances and Clinical Applications in Cardiovascular Imaging.

Since the approval of the first dual-source photon-counting detector CT (PCD-CT) in the fall of 2021, significant insights have been gained in its application for cardiovascular imaging. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state of knowledge and the growing body of research literature, illustrating innovative applications and perspectives through case examples.We conducted a structured literature review, identifying relevant studies via Google Scholar and PubMed, using the keywords "photon-counting detector", "cardiovascular CT", "cardiac CT", and "ultra-high-resolution CT". We analyzed studies published since January 2015. Additionally, we integrated our own clinical experiences and case examples.In addition to the well-known benefit of increased temporal resolution offered by dual-source scanners, dual-source PCD-CT provides three key advantages: 1) Optimized geometric dose efficiency with an improved contrast-to-noise ratio, 2) intrinsic spectral sensitivity, and 3) the ability for ultrahigh-resolution CT. This technology enables improved image quality or radiation dose reduction in established cardiovascular protocols. Its use in non-invasive cardiac diagnostics for obese patients, those with a high plaque burden, or after stent implantation appears technically feasible, potentially expanding the scope of CT. The spectral sensitivity also allows tailored image acquisition, reducing metallic artifacts and contrast agent doses in patients with renal impairment. Early studies and clinical experience support these potential applications of PCD-CT in cardiovascular diagnostics, suggesting workflow optimization and improved patient management.However, challenges remain, including high costs, large data volumes, somewhat longer reconstruction times, and technical difficulties in combining spectral sensitivity with ultra-high resolution. Prospective randomized studies with clinical endpoints are lacking to confirm the clear advantage over conventional scanners. Results: The review identified several effective management models, including Lean Management, Six Sigma, Patient-Centered Care, Workflow Optimization, and Total Quality Management (TQM). However, the specific impact of these methodologies on patient satisfaction within patient-centered care frameworks remains to be systematically evaluated. This systematic review aims to examine the effects of Lean, Six Sigma, and workflow optimization on patient satisfaction outcomes in patient-centered care settings, offering evidence-based insights for healthcare providers and policymakers.A comprehensive search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, CINAHL, and Cochrane Library, to identify studies published from 2016 onward that evaluated patient satisfaction outcomes related to Lean, Six Sigma, and workflow optimization within patient-centered care models. Eligible studies were screened, assessed for quality, and analyzed based on patient satisfaction outcomes. Data extraction and quality assessments followed PRISMA guidelines.Findings from the selected studies indicate that process improvement methodologies positively impact patient satisfaction, with notable improvements in wait times, care coordination, and communication quality. Lean and workflow optimization showed a significant reduction in bottlenecks, while Six Sigma was associated with error reduction and standardized practices, contributing to higher patient satisfaction scores.Lean, Six Sigma, and workflow optimization methodologies offer promising avenues to enhance patient-centered care by improving patient satisfaction metrics. Process improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, and workflow optimization, aim to streamline healthcare delivery, reduce inefficiencies, and improve quality of care. This systematic review examines the impact of process improvement interventions on patient satisfaction within PCC frameworks. Database searches of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and CINAHL were conducted, targeting peer-reviewed articles from 2016 to 2024 that measured patient satisfaction outcomes related to process improvements. Thirty-five studies met the inclusion criteria, encompassing various healthcare settings and patient populations. Findings indicate that process improvements, particularly Lean and Six Sigma, positively impact patient satisfaction by reducing wait times, minimizing errors, and improving communication and patient flow. Workflow optimization, although showing slightly varied results, also contributed positively when tailored to specific settings. This review highlights the importance of sustainable, patient-centered process improvement practices and suggests further research to assess long-term impacts and explore innovative tools. Optimization of HITI-Mediated Gene Insertion for Rhodopsin and Peripherin-2 in Mouse Rod Photoreceptors: Targeting Dominant Retinitis Pigmentosa.

Among the genome-editing methods for repairing disease-causing mutations resulting in autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa, homology-independent targeted integration (HITI)-mediated gene insertion of the normal form of the causative gene is useful because it allows the development of mutation-agnostic therapeutic products. In this study, we aimed for the rapid optimization and validation of HITI-treatment gene constructs of this approach in developing HITI-treatment constructs for various causative target genes in mouse models of retinal degeneration. We constructed the Cas9-driven HITI gene cassettes in plasmid vectors to treat the mouse Rho gene. A workflow utilizing in vivo electroporation was established to validate the efficacy of these constructs. Single-cell genotyping was conducted to evaluate allelic donor gene insertion. The therapeutic potency of HITI-treatment plasmid and adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors was examined by section immunohistochemistry and optomotor response (OMR) in Rho+/P23H mutant mice. We also targeted mouse Prph2 to examine the workflow. The optimized HITI-treatment constructs for mouse Rho genes achieved gene insertion in 80% to 90% of transduced mouse rod photoreceptor cells. This construct effectively suppressed degeneration and induced visual restoration in mutant mice. HITI-treatment constructs for the Rhodopsin gene demonstrated efficacy in AAV vectors and are adaptable for the mouse Prph2 gene locus. The study showcases a workflow for the rapid optimization and validation of highly effective HITI-treatment gene constructs against dominant-negative inheritance in inherited retinal dystrophy. These findings suggest the potential utility of this approach in developing HITI-treatment constructs for various target genes, advancing gene therapy products for diverse genetic disorders.

Evolving and Novel Applications of Artificial Intelligence in Abdominal Imaging.

Advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have significantly transformed the field of abdominal radiology, leading to an improvement in diagnostic and disease management capabilities. This narrative review seeks to evaluate the current standing of AI in abdominal imaging, with a focus on recent literature contributions. This work explores the diagnosis and characterization of hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gastric, colonic, and other pathologies. In addition, the role of AI has been observed to help differentiate renal, adrenal, and splenic disorders. Furthermore, workflow optimization strategies and quantitative imaging techniques used for the measurement and characterization of tissue properties, including radiomics and deep learning, are highlighted. An assessment of how these advancements enable more precise diagnosis, tumor description, and body composition evaluation is presented, which ultimately advances the clinical effectiveness and productivity of radiology. Despite the advancements of AI in abdominal imaging, technical, ethical, and legal challenges persist, and these challenges, as well as opportunities for future development, are highlighted.

Purpose of WorkThis review aims to synthesize recent advancements in AI applications within emergency medicine, focusing on diagnostic support, patient triage, clinical decision support systems (CDSS), and workflow optimization. Additionally, we highlight the potential benefits, challenges, and future directions for AI in EM. Material and MethodsA comprehensive literature search was conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar databases. We reviewed peer-reviewed articles from 2008 to 2024, focusing on AI-driven solutions in EDs. Keywords included "artificial intelligence," "emergency medicine," "machine learning," and "clinical decision support." Studies were selected based on their relevance to AI applications in EM, diagnostic improvements, and operational efficiency. The results highlight the promising role of AI in improving diagnostic accuracy, reducing overcrowding, optimizing triage processes, and addressing clinician workload. However, challenges like ethical concerns, data bias, and the need for clinical validation remain. Further research is necessary to integrate AI more effectively in clinical practice.

Digital Workflow Optimization for Endocrown Restorations on Root- Treated Teeth

Endocrown restorations have become a popular solution for endodontically treated teeth, offering both functional and esthetic benefits. These restorations are particularly effective for molars due to the larger surface area of the pulp chamber, which enhances retention and stability. This article presents a clinical case of a zirconia endocrown restoration for a highly damaged mandibular molar. Utilizing a fully digital workflow, the preparation, design, and fabrication of the restoration were performed with precision, ensuring minimal tooth structure removal. Zirconia was chosen for its superior mechanical properties, including fracture resistance and durability. The challenges associated with zirconia, such as bonding reliability, were addressed through surface treatments like air abrasion and the use of 10-MDP-based chemical promoters. The patient’s outcome was both esthetically pleasing and functionally successful. This case highlights the advantages of integrating digital workflows and advanced materials in modern prosthodontic practice, while also acknowledging the need for careful selection of materials and techniques based on the individual case.

Optimizing the Smart Pump Drug Library Update Process: An Ongoing Effort at an Academic Medical Center

Smart infusion pumps with dose-error reduction software and customizable drug libraries have increased the safety of intravenous infusion delivery; however, maintaining the most updated drug library is a multistep process for most infusion pumps, which requires effort and engagement by the end user to activate the latest drug library. Delays in updating the drug library have been shown to impact patient safety. This article reviews steps taken at an academic medical center to improve the drug library update process. Multidisciplinary efforts resulted in improved drug library activation rates; however, despite workflow optimizations and improvements, achieving complete pump fleet library activation in a timely manner after scheduled updates remains challenging.

Optimization of Space Data Development and Distribution and Capacity Building in the Philippines through the PhilSA Integrated Network for Space Enabled Actions towards Sustainability (PINAS) Project

Abstract. The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) implemented the PhilSA Integrated Network for Space Enabled Actions towards Sustainability (PINAS) to establish an active network of institutions and citizen scientists that will work together to utilize space data and information in support of the sustainable development agenda. The project was conceptualized to address the inherent challenge in gathering feedback, disseminating space data and information, and conducting capacity building initiatives in an archipelagic nation. The project will be conducted in three (3) phases, Phase 1: Network Building, Phase 2: Capacity Building, and Phase 3: Build Up and Expansion. This paper highlights the initial activities and preliminary assessment of the PINAS Project. The results of the initial activities illustrate the potential of the project in optimizing data products and its distribution processes, and in strengthening local capacity to use space data and information. This contributes to the development of effective capacity building initiatives and efficient space data optimization and data-sharing workflows in the country.
