Public opinion polls play an important role in obtaining information about the causes of marital conflicts. Comprehensive comparative criminological studies of public opinion are of great importance. These studies help to identify the scale of the problem of domestic violence when data from different countries are compared. The article presents the results of a study of the criminogenic determinants of marital conflicts. The information was obtained from a sociological survey conducted by criminologists from the Euphrosyne Polotskay State University of Polotsk (Republic of Belarus) and the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University (Russian Federation). The study concerned questions about the causes of conflicts between spouses. The results of the study indicate that the reasons may vary from country to country. But common trends and patterns would be revealed (financial difficulties, differences in interests and views, lack of attention, etc.
