The “Bujang Marantau” rice variety is local rice from Tanah Datar Regency which was registered as a national superior rice variety by BPTP West Sumatra in 2015 and grows well in Tanah Datar Regency. This increase in “Bujang Marantau” rice production must be balanced with a good marketing system so that farmers and institutions marketing can receive more favorable prices. The study is aimed to analyze the channels, functions and operational efficiency of rice marketing (marketing margin, farmer’s share, and profit to cost ratio) in Sungai Tarab District. This research involved 45 farmers as samples obtained through a simple random sampling method. Marketing institution respondents were obtained using the snowball method based on the flow of information from farmers and 15 marketing institution respondents were obtained. Qualitative data is used to analyze marketing channels and institutions. Quantitative data is used to analyze marketing margin, farmer’s share, profit to cost ratio and marketing efficiency index. The results showed that there are 3 marketing channels and 3 types of marketing institutions involved. The results of the marketing operational efficiency analysis show that the relatively efficient marketing channel is channel III because it has the lowest marketing margin value, the highest farmer’s share, and the shortest marketing channel compared to other channels. Marketing institutions should further optimize the marketing functions of each institution, such as the transportation function, so that transportation costs can be lower and minimize marketing costs more efficiently.

Era 5.0 is characterized by deeper integration between technology and human life, where Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a key role in various sectors, including digital marketing. This study aims to explore how AI in the MSME world of Palembang city is applied in digital marketing, as well as its impact on marketing management strategies and results. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method to analyze various applications of AI in digital marketing promotions. The research results show that AI is able to increase operational efficiency, personalize content, and deeper data analysis. Apart from this, AI also helps in advertising optimization, market trend prediction, and improving customer experience. The application of AI in digital marketing faces challenges, such as data privacy issues, implementation costs, and the need for specialized expertise. AI has great potential to revolutionize digital marketing management in MSMEs, but requires a strategic and ethical approach to overcome existing challenges.

An integrated data envelopment analysis framework for operational efficiency assessment in Brazilian international airports

International airports play a significant role in a country’s economic development. We propose an integrated framework for operational efficiency analysis using Data Envelopment Analysis, Windows Analysis, and Malmquist Index to identify inefficiencies and areas of improvement in the air transportation industry. This study analyzed 23 Brazilian international airports from 2010 to 2021, using the DEA Window Analysis (DEAWA) combined with the Index (MI). The airports were grouped geographically in southern Brazil. The integration of these methods brought an important insight to the evaluation processes, even for those previously analyzed using DEA. The analyses found that COVID-19 potently influenced the drop in the efficiency index. No airport was fully efficient over the analyzed periods. Private airports achieved an efficiency index slightly higher than public ones, but the difference of the efficiency index by public–private management type is not clear. This type of analysis provides a strategic and comparative tool, making it possible to understand better the weaknesses of the air transportation system.

Long-term performance analysis of operational efficiency of a grid-connected solar power plant under Mauritania climate

This work examines a solar power plant connected to the Nouakchott electricity grid in Mauritania. Operating since 2013, the 15 MWp plant's reliability and energy yield have been evaluated using a performance index. The assessment involves three phases. First, the plant's meteorological environment and technical indicators are presented. In the second phase, mathematical performance models specified by the International Energy Agency (IEA) are applied to calculate performance indices using data from the data acquisition system (SCADA). The third phase compares actual production data for 2015, 2017, and 2020 with results simulated for PVsyst for the same years. The obtained results are thoroughly analyzed to highlight relevant physical phenomena. The analysis focuses on the plant's 7-year operating period and its impact on performance indicators for electricity production fed into the grid. This study provides insights into the solar power plant's reliability and energy yield, aiding future operational enhancements. It underscores the importance of performance monitoring and assessment in optimizing solar power generation systems.

Terminal Congestion Analysis of Container Ports Using Satellite Images and AIS

This study proposes the use of satellite images and a vessel’s automatic identification system (AIS) data to evaluate the congestion level at container ports for operational efficiency analysis, which was never attempted in previous studies. The congestion level in container yards is classified by developing a convolutional neural network (CNN) model and an annotation tool to reduce the workload of creating training data. The annotation tool calculates the number of vertically stacked containers and the reliability of each container cell in a detection area by focusing on the shadows generated by the containers. Subsequently, a high-accuracy CNN model is developed for end-to-end processing to predict congestion levels. Finally, as an example of dynamic efficiency analysis of container terminals using satellite images, the relationship of the estimated average number of vertically stacked containers in the yard with the elapsed time between the image capture time and vessel arrival or departure time obtained from the automatic identification system data is analyzed. This study contributes to representing a prototype for dynamically estimating the number of vertically stacked containers and congestion level of container terminals using satellite images without statistical information, as well as its relationship with the timing of vessel arrival acquired from AIS data.

Improved Dual Active Bridge DC–DC Converter With Symmetric Bipolar Output by Utilizing a Switched-Capacitor Circuit for Bipolar DC Distribution System

The bipolar dc distribution system is a promising solution due to its advantages in efficiency and reliability, but there are also challenges of pole voltage imbalance. By using a simple switched-capacitor circuit, this paper presents a semi-dual active bridge converter with symmetrical bipolar output characteristics. The converter is capable of single-stage power conversion, offering the advantages of low cost and high-power conversion efficiency. Moreover, the symmetrical bipolar output voltage can be achieved without an additional voltage balancer and feedback control under unbalanced load conditions, which reduces system cost and control system complexity. In addition, the proposed converter also has a significant advantage over existing solutions in terms of the number of semiconductor devices and magnetic components. A detailed analysis of the proposed converter is presented, including the operation principle, steady-state performance, soft-switching performance, voltage gain, voltage/current stresses, efficiency and loss analysis, and control method. Finally, a 1-kW prototype is developed and tested to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

Digital transformation: An empirical analysis of operational efficiency, customer experience, and competitive advantage in Jordanian Islamic banks

This research aims to investigate the impact of digital transformation on the operational efficiency, customer experience, competitive advantage, organizational performance, and risk management in Jordanian Islamic banks. A descriptive analytical method was used, collecting primary data from a survey of 68 employees across four Islamic banks. Statistical tools, including linear regression and correlation, were used for data analysis and hypothesis testing. The findings revealed that digital transformation significantly influences the operational efficiency, competitive advantage, customer experience, organizational performance, and risk management of Islamic banks at a significance level of α ≤ 0.05. While digital transformation generally enhanced operational outcomes and customer experience, it also increased exposure to risks such as electronic attacks, fraud, and privacy concerns. The results highlight the importance of integrating digital transformation in Islamic banking while employing robust risk management strategies. These findings provide insights for policymakers, bank managers, and researchers in formulating strategic initiatives for digital transformation in the banking sector. The research contributes to the literature by focusing on the role of digital transformation in Islamic banking, a less-explored area in academic studies. This research also presents valuable implications for practice, specifically for banks and regulators to balance the potential of digital transformation with the associated risks.

Non‐performance loans, operation, and recycle efficiency analysis—Dynamic Two‐stage Directional Distance Function Recycle with Assurance Regions model

AbstractPrevious studies have failed to analyze a bank's operation performance and non‐performing loans at the same time. Therefore, this research uses the Dynamic Two‐stage directional distance function (DDF) Recycle with Assurance Regions (ARs) model to explore the efficiency of Taiwanese banks in their operation stage and recycling stage. The research results are as follows. (1) The six‐year overall average efficiency is .7966. Taipei Star Bank has the best efficiency, and Fubon, Bank SinoPac, and Union Bank have the worst efficiency rankings. (2) Most banks have good efficiency in the operation stage, while efficiency in the recovery cycle stage fluctuates.

Landak Regency has the potential to develop rice with a production surplus of 52,296 tonnes. This increase in production must be balanced with a good marketing system so that farmers and marketing agencies can receive more favorable prices. The purpose of this study is to analyze the channel, function and operational efficiency of rice marketing (marketing margin, farmer's share, and profit to cost ratio) in Landak District. This study involved 45 respondent farmers as a sample which was obtained through a purposive sampling method in which the respondent farmers were selected with consideration of certain characteristics according to the research objectives. Marketing agency respondents were obtained using the snowball method based on information flow from farmers and obtained 13 marketing agency respondents. Qualitative data is used to analyze marketing channels and agencies. Quantitative data is used to analyze marketing margins, farmer's share and profit to cost ratio. The results showed that there were 5 marketing channels and 4 marketing agencies involved. The marketing channel is distinguished from the products sold by farmers, namely channels 1, 2 and 3, farmers sell unhusked rice, while channels 4 and 5 sell rice. Channel 1 consists of farmer-gatherer-factory-retailer-end consumer, channel 2 consists of farmer-collector-mill-retailer-end consumer, channel 3 consists of farmer-mill-retailer-end consumer, channel 4 consists of farmer-retailer -end consumers and channel 5 farmers sell rice directly to end consumers. The results of the operational efficiency analysis show that a relatively efficient marketing channel is channel 1 based on the profit to cost ratio having a value of >1 (profitable). Increasing the institutional role of farmers (poktan and gapoktan) such as collective transactions can help farmers receive more profitable prices..

A non‐isolated DC‐DC topology with high voltage rate based on magnetic coupling and voltage multiplier method

SummaryIn this study, a novel non‐isolated DC‐DC converter based on magnetic coupling and voltage multiplier technique has been proposed. The output voltage of the suggested converter can be enhanced by selecting the appropriate turn ratio of the coupled inductor. To further improve the voltage gain, a voltage multiplier circuit including the capacitors and diodes has been utilized in this converter. The main features of the proposed converter are a high voltage conversion ratio, high efficiency, and lower peak voltage throughout the semiconductor devices. Besides, there are soft switching conditions throughout the diodes of the presented topology, which leads to reducing the reverse recovery losses of the diodes and subsequently improving the overall efficiency of the system. Also, only one insulated‐gate field‐effect transistor (MOSFET) has been used in the structure of the converter. Thus, the switch with lower on‐state resistance can be selected for the suggested converter that decreases the conduction losses. To prove the performance of the suggested structure, the operational analysis, mathematical descriptions, efficiency analysis, and comparison survey with similar structures in the literature have been described. Finally, a laboratory prototype with 200 W output power with 95.14% load efficiency, 20 V input voltage, and 260 V output voltage at 50 kHz switching frequency has been provided.

A Nonisolated Single-Switch Coupled Inductor-Based DC-DC Converter with High Voltage Gain for Renewable Power Generation Systems

This article proposed a new structure of nonisolated high step-up DC-DC converter based on a three-winding coupled inductor and voltage multiplier cells (VMCs) for renewable energy systems applications such as PV power generation. Continuous input current with low ripple, common ground between output and input ports, low voltage stress across semiconductors, low number of components, high voltage gain, and high efficiency are the main advantages of the proposed converter. In order to further increase the output voltage, the windings of the coupled inductor are combined with VMC. The combination of coupled inductor and VMC technique leads to a high voltage gain with low duty cycle, and therefore the conduction loss of power switch is reduced. Additionally, the diodes’ reverse recovery currents are reduced which improve the presented topology’s efficiency. On the other hand, the used VMCs clamp the voltage, and the peak voltages across power switch are decreased. The operational modes, steady-state, and efficiency analysis are discussed. Also, to demonstrate the performance of the recommended converter, an experimental prototype with 580 W output power and 400 V output voltage with the switching frequency of 25 kHz is built and the experimental results are presented. Also, another 1 kW, 400 V with the switching frequency of 50 kHz has been implemented and tested.

Operational Efficiency Analysis of Information Technology Industry

본 연구에서는 최근 4차 혁명으로 인해 국내 산업을 주도해 갈 정보기술업을 대상으로 경영 효율성을 분석 시행하고 이를 통해 기업들이 효율적인 경영활동을 할 수 있는 방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구 방법으로는 DEA 기법을 활용하여 BCC-I 와 CCR-I 모형을 기반으로 정보기술업을 분석하였다. 효율성 분석 결과, BCC 모형에서 효율적인 기업이 15개 기업 CCR 모형에서 효율적인 기업이 10개 기업으로 분석되었다. CCR 모형에서 효율성 값이 .50 이상의 효율성 수치를 나타낸 기업은 총 5개 기업으로 분석되었으며 마지막으로 정보기술업의 효율성 투사 값을 확인하기 위해 비효율적인 요소들에 대해서는 각 개선 비율을 제시하였다.BR 본 연구에서는 정보기술업을 대상으로 DEA라는 전통적인 효율성 측정 방법을 활용하였으며, 기존 연구와는 달리 정보기술업의 가장 대표적인 산출물인 특허권을 통해 각 기업의 효율성을 측정하였다는 데 그 의의가 있다. 또한 본 연구의 결과를 통해 주식시장에서는 이들 산업 이해관계자들의 투자의사 결정에 유용한 정보를 제공하게 될 것이며, 정부에게는 이들 산업을 지원하는 정책 방향 결정에 유용한 정보를 제공하게 될 것이다. 향후 연구 방향으로는 4차 혁명 시대 이후 정보기술업의 다년간 경영 효율성 변화를 통해 비재무적인 요소의 제거 및 각 기업의 경영 효율성을 제고시킬 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

A Study on Port (Terminals) Operational Efficiency Analysis Using PCA-DEA Approach: Focusing on Container Terminals on Busan Port

Previous literature has recognised the importance of port efficiency to port performance, and two popular methodologies of DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) and SFA (Stochastic Frontier Analysis) have been widely applied to efficiency evaluation. However, there seems a limitation of lacking objectivity when selecting the variables of inputs and outputs. Meanwhile, as for the largest port in Korea, although many related efficiency studies already exist for Busan Port, most of them are founded on a whole port level basis while seldom on the container terminal level. Therefore, to fill the gap, this paper introduces a PCA (Principal Component Analysis) - DEA approach to research the operational efficiency of nine container terminals of Busan Port with the latest data of 2021. The PCA-DEA port (terminal) evaluation approach is practical and unbiased, and it may have some special practical value for the port industry. Container throughput is set as the output, and 13 variables from three scopes of land, facilities and labour are identified as inputs, followed by PCA which eventually detects three indictors of “No. transfer crane (RMGC) in yard”, “Staff average salary” and “Container freight station (CFS) space” as the core inputs representing the above three dimensions. Then, the DEA (CCR) and DEA (BCC) models are used to gain the assessment results: “PNIT, “PNC” and “HJNC” are DEA efficiency, while others of “HPNT”, “BNCT”, “Jaseongdae”, “Shinseondae”, “Gamman” and “Shin Gamman” are non-DEA efficiency. In addition, to achieve the target efficiency for the non-effective terminals, this paper confirms improvements through Return to Scale (ROS) and input redundancy discussion. This study objectively evaluates port terminals and provides useful data when establishing strategies to strengthen port efficiency and competitiveness in the future.

A soft switched high step‐up DC‐DC converter based on VMC and coupled inductor for photovoltaic energy applications

AbstractIn this paper a new topology of non‐isolated high step‐up DC‐DC is proposed for renewable applications like photovoltaic (PV) power generation. This converter is designed based on coupled inductor and VMC techniques. The main benefits of the presented topology are: (1) Continues input current with low ripple, (2) low voltage stress across semiconductors, (3) soft switching of diodes (ZVS and ZCS), (4) high voltage gain with low duty cycle, (5) low volume and cost, and (6) high power efficiency. To obtain a high output voltage, the secondary side of the coupled inductor is integrated with VMC, resulting in a large voltage gain with low duty cycles and reduced conduction loss of power switches. Additionally, diodes' zero voltage switching (ZVS) and zero current switching (ZCS) improve the efficiency of the proposed converter. The used VMCs act as a voltage clamp, and the peak voltages across power switches are reduced. The presented converter's operational modes, steady‐state, and efficiency analysis are discussed. Additionally, to indicate the performance of the suggested structure, a 200 W prototype with Vin = 33 V and Vo = 403 V voltage conversion is built, and the experimental results are presented. The experimental efficiency at Po = 200 W is measured 95.29%. Also, efficiency is measured more than 95 % for Po = 20 W to 200 W.

Did New Retail Enhance Enterprise Competition during the COVID-19 Pandemic? An Empirical Analysis of Operating Efficiency

The question concerning how digital consumption demand has been adapted and how matching business models have been built has become an important practical problem in the digital development of the retail industry. Considering the effects of COVID-19, whether new retail enterprises can maintain adequate competitiveness and risk resilience in the post-pandemic era deserves in-depth study. In comparing the development of traditional retail and new retail enterprises, we extracted and evaluated key factors of enterprise operating efficiency. Then, we measured the transformation efficiency of 65 enterprises in China listed in 2016 and 2020 by establishing a DEA model and the Malmquist index method. Finally, based on an empirical analysis demonstrating the necessity of traditional retail transformation, we analyzed retail enterprises’ efficiency and dynamic efficiency changes. The results show that the operating efficiency of enterprises using the new retail model was higher than those using the traditional retail model. The technical efficiency and total factor productivity were significantly improved after the new retail model was applied. Both technological progress and improved technological efficiency contributed to the improvement in total factor productivity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Relationship between financial policy performance and sustainable development of the company

The objects of the study were large organizations of two different branches of the economy: the water transport industry in the form of joint-stock companies open to stock markets and joint-stock companies of the radio-electronic industry of the Russian Federation. A statistical sample of companies from the total population of companies in each branch was made. Homogeneous groups of companies were created. The subject of study is the sustainable development of companies. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the choice of methods for assessing the level of sustainable development, taking into account the integrated methodology and assessment methods. Tasks: identification of sectoral specificity of activity; review and systematization of methods of analysis of economic, personnel (social) and operational efficiency of researched companies at the moment and retrospective dynamics; disclosure of the main positive and problematic factors of influence on sustainable development; formation of a set of indicators of assessment of sustainable development of companies within the industry; quantitative and qualitative assessment of sustainable development of companies by the proposed set of indicators: the advantages and disadvantages of individual methods. The rating approach, a number of methods of analysis of economic activity were used as a methodology. All companies studied are in the maturity phase in management terminology. The text of the article demonstrates the interim results of the studyA more detailed consideration of the institutional approach to sustainable development analysis and assessment is envisaged. At this stage, the environmental dimension of sustainable development is not being explored for a number of reasons.
