Implementation Strategy Analysis of Network Security using dalo RADIUS and Pi-hole DNS Server to enhance Computer Network Security, Case Study: XYZ as a Fintech Company

According to the annual report by the National Encryption Agency in 2023, Indonesia had the highest number of cyber-attack sources, with over 1 million attacks, which has increased quite rapidly compared to the last 3 years. Several online media platforms have reported incidents of this nature over the past three years. Among the 10 institutions implicated in the present incident, it has been confirmed that 6 of them are Fintech institutions. The incident's factors are various, including the user's lack of awareness who accessed an unofficial website outside the company's production website. This act ultimately proved to be detrimental to the company. Therefore, this study highlights the importance of RADIUS (Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service) as a comprehensive security tool that contributes to mitigating unauthorized access and strengthening network defenses against emerging threats. This research focuses on XYZ, a Fintech Company, using it as a case study. The main discussion in this paper focuses on utilizing the daloRADIUS server to resolve authorization concerns regarding network security. Pi-hole DNS Server is also used in this research to block access to illegal sites such as pornography and online gambling. The results of this research are proof of the success of a combination of daloRADIUS server components, RADIUS router, and Pi-hole DNS Server in blocking users who are detected accessing illegal sites and are also observed regarding the use of daloRADIUS Server resources in a usage range ranging from 10 active users to 300 active users.

Risk factors for the gambling, smoking and alcohol consumption triad in Portuguese adolescents

Abstract Background Addiction to gambling, tobacco, and alcohol poses significant risks to mental, social, and physical health, particularly during adolescence, a critical period for habit formation. This study investigates risk factors linked to these habits among Portuguese adolescents. Methods This cross-sectional study used the 2019 ESPAD questionnaire, targeting 16-year-old adolescents. The sample comprised 4,365 responses. Descriptive analysis determined the prevalence of gambling, smoking, and alcohol use, as well as social, economic, and behavioral factors. Bivariate associations were assessed using the Exact Fisher test, and multiple logistic regression identified key predictors for the outcome of interest (cumulative presence of gambling, smoking and alcohol consumption). Statistical analysis was conducted with SPSS version 29.0, with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results Among adolescents, 6.2% presented probable problematic gambling according to the Lie/Bet test, with 3.7% spending at least 30 minutes a day gambling. In the past 30 days, 14.3% smoked, 42.7% drank alcohol, and 10.5% engaged in binge drinking. The behavioral triad was observed in 56 individuals. Male gender (OR = 2.024; 95% CI: 1.097-3.734; p = 0.024), problematic online gaming behavior (OR = 2.041; 95% CI: 1.005-4.144; p = 0.048) and going out at night at least once a week (OR = 1.439; 95% CI: 1.242-1.669; p < 0.001) significantly increased the risk of the behavioral triad. In contrast, parental control (parents knowing where the adolescent is on Saturday night) had a significant protective effect (OR = 0.162; 95% CI: 0.086-0.303; p < 0.001). Conclusions The study underscores the importance of parental supervision to curb risky behaviors in adolescents. It suggests implementing public health programs in schools, leveraging gaming for early screening, and tightening online gambling regulations to mitigate future health risks associated with gambling, smoking, and alcohol use. Key messages • Absence of parental supervision, male gender, problematic online gaming and frequently going out at night are risk factors for this behavioral triad. • Public health strategies are needed to prevent gambling addiction, emphasizing parental awareness, identification of at-risk students, and comprehensive school-based approaches.

Smoking, alcohol, substance, technology, and gambling addiction among university students

Abstract Background University students turn to addictive substances to cope with the anxiety and stress caused by separation from family, adaptation to a new environment, as well as many economic and social problems. This study aimed to examine smoking, alcohol, substance, technology, and gambling addiction among university students. Methods The data of this cross-sectional study were collected between February and March 2024. The study population consisted of 23,446 people studying at Ä°nonu University, and the sample size was calculated as 346 based on a smoking rate of 35.6% among university students. A stratified sampling method was adopted according to the faculty of study, and 366 people were approached regarding the study. The independent variables were age, gender, faculty of study, and smoking status, while the dependent variables were alcohol and substance use status. Descriptive data were expressed in numbers and percentages, and a Chi-square test was used in the statistical analysis. Results Of the students in the research group, 56.8% were female, 54.4% were 22 years of age or older, 30.1% reported smoking cigarettes, 7.7% reported drinking alcohol in the last 30 days, 39.2% reported using the internet for five hours or more per day, 3% reported playing various casino games on the internet once a week or more, and 1.4% stated that they used substances. There was no statistically significant difference between alcohol and substance use according to smoking status (p > 0.05). Conclusions Approximately one-third of the students in the research group reported smoking cigarettes, and one-tenth reported alcohol use, which is quite high. The high percentage of students who use the internet for five hours or more per day and the low rate of online gambling should be considered in relation to these addictions. Key messages • Multidimensional interventions and intersectoral cooperation are required to prevent smoking, alcohol, substance use, technology, and gambling addictions among university students. • In addition, precautions should be taken to protect students against the risks associated with internet addiction and online gaming.

Comparing ‘fair’ machine learning models for detecting at-risk online gamblers

ABSTRACT Researchers have worked to develop machine learning models that detect at-risk online gamblers, enabling personalized harm prevention tools. However, existing research has not evaluated these models’ potential to reinforce or amplify sociodemographic biases leading to treatment disparity, a recognized issue in the machine learning field. We sought to develop and compare three examples of potentially fair models using online gambling data. In two large samples of transaction data from a provincially owned Canadian gambling website (N1 = 9,145, N2 = 10,716), we developed three machine learning models based on competing concepts of fairness: fairness via unawareness, classification parity, and outcome calibration. We hypothesized that significant relationships existed between reporting a high risk of past-year gambling problems (the dependent variable) and participants’ age and sex. Further, we hypothesized that the three ‘fair’ models would show differing levels of classification performance both in aggregate and within sociodemographic groups. Significant age and sex effects were found, refuting the fairness via unawareness modeling strategy. Superiority across all performance metrics was not present for either of the remaining models. For the fairest practices in any jurisdiction, classification parity and outcome calibration models should be tested in situ, and incorporate the perspectives and preferences of end users who will be affected.

Government Communication Strategies in Combating Online Gambling in Indonesia

Online gambling has become one of the biggest challenges faced by the Indonesian government in recent decades. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design to analyze the government's communication strategy in combating online gambling in Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with online gambling victims, conducted directly and via the Zoom and Google Meet platforms. Thematic analysis techniques were used to analyze data. The results show that the communication strategies of the government in tackling online gambling have not been fully effective, mainly due to limitations in message delivery, use of communication channels, and enforcement of regulations. It is hoped that through this collaborative approach, the prevalence of online gambling can be significantly reduced, and the community can be better protected from its negative impacts. This research is expected to serve as a reference for future studies in the fields of communication, law, and public policy related to online gambling.

Media Perspectives on Indonesian Policies against Illegal Online Gambling: A Framing Analysis

Online gambling is illegal in Indonesia, both legally and socially. Nevertheless, it has gained popularity among various segments of society, including teenagers, adults, and even government employees. This study aims to understand the media's perspective on the handling of online gambling in Indonesia. Utilizing Robert Entman's framing analysis theory, the research focuses on four elements: defining the problem, diagnosing the cause, making moral judgments, and providing treatment recommendations. The sample consists of news articles from Kompas.com between June 2023 and July 2024. The findings reveal that Kompas.com emphasizes government actions such as the arrest of gambling operators, online gamblers, and celebrities promoting online gambling as the defined problem. In diagnosing the cause, the reports highlight online gambling as a complex crime involving international networks and cybersecurity issues. The moral judgment presented by Kompas.com underscores the negative impacts of online gambling, press freedom, and societal morality. The treatment recommendations suggested include stringent enforcement and deterrent penalties, as well as international cooperation to eradicate online gambling in Indonesia.

Why You Gamble Matters: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of the Association Between Gambling Motivation and Problem Gambling.

The propensity for individuals to experience problem gambling (PG) varies depending on their motivation to gamble. The present meta-analysis assessed the effect sizes associated with various gambling motives identified in representative population samples. Studies were sourced through PsycINFO, PudMed, and databases maintained by the Alberta Gambling Research Institute and the Greo Evidence Insights. Quantitative studies and technical studies were included if they reported on gambling motivation as a correlate of PG; were published in English, French, or Spanish; used valid and reliable measures PG as an outcome variable; and targeted the general adult population. A random effects meta-analysis was conducted to estimate pooled odds ratios. A total of 26 studies were included from 17 jurisdictions, with most studies conducted in Canadian provinces (k = 17) or specific states of the United States (k = 7). Number of participants varied, depending on the gambling motivation analyzed, and ranged from 2,835 to 51,685. Fourteen unique motives were identified with odds ratios ranging from 0.53 (95% CI, 0.45, 0.63) for gambling for charity to 6.20 (95% CI, 3.83, 10.05) for the motive "to be alone", with high study heterogeneity being observed for many gambling motives, given variability in important study characteristics. The results generally indicate that coping motives were associated with large effect sizes, enhancement motives with medium effect sizes, and all other motives with small or nil effects. Coping motives are on par with other strong risk factors such as participation in online gambling or electronic gaming machines, and are therefore important elements to consider when screening for PG or designing public health messages.

Current approaches to the identification and management of gambling disorder: a narrative review to inform clinical practice in Australia and New Zealand.

Gambling disorder is a recognised psychiatric disorder in the Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders (DSM-5) and is classified as an addiction alongside alcohol and substance use disorders. The DSM-5 describes a past-year timeframe, episodic or persistent specifiers, early or sustained remission specifiers, and three gambling disorder severity specifiers (mild, moderate and severe). Although anyone can develop gambling disorder, there are known risk factors. In studies involving general adult populations, the likelihood of developing the disorder varies with the type of gambling, and is particularly high for internet gambling, casino table games and poker machines. Australia and New Zealand have shifted the focus of gambling disorder to the identification of gambling harm, in recognition that efforts targeting the prevention of harm may be more effective as they potentially influence a larger segment of the population. Temporal categories of gambling harm (crisis harms versus legacy harms) affect help-seeking and need for treatment. Crisis harms often motivate people to change their behaviour or seek help, whereas treatment addresses legacy harms, which emerge or continue to occur after gambling behaviour ceases. The evidence base and clinical guidelines recommend cognitive behavioural therapy and motivational interviewing but there are many gaps in our understanding of treatment for gambling disorder, including an absence of high quality evaluations that assess treatment effectiveness over the longer term, especially for treatment delivered in community settings. There is also an urgent need to understand how, why and for whom treatment works so that interventions can be optimised to individual needs, thereby facilitating client engagement. Because of limited access to health care and poor retention in treatment, in recent years there has been an increase in treatment choices in the form of internet therapies and smartphone applications.

The problems that are the basis for divorce in the Dasang Lendang hamlet are caused by quarrels, economic problems, failure to fulfill the elements of kafa'ah in marriage, online shopping that causes debt, online gambling. So this Community Service aims to increase the optimization of religious knowledge in reducing divorce cases in the Dasan Lendang hamlet community, Kerumut Village. This Community Service activity uses the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach. The method used in this service is Socialization. The results of the service show that providing understanding and knowledge to the community is carried out with a socialization strategy from students and lecturers by providing lectures, counseling and marriage advice to the community. So that the community is aware of the dangers of things such as a) Quarrels, b) economic problems, c) online shopping addiction. the above factors have the potential to cause household problems and trigger divorce. So that the implications for the community are expected to be active in participating in educational activities through the majlis taklim held in the prayer room and in the mosque and lectures by the tuan guru to deepen their knowledge of religion.

Emotional Working Memory Training Treatment for Young Adult Problem Online Sports Bettors: A Preliminary Randomized Controlled Trial.

One of the key features of gambling disorder (GD) is impairment in cognitive-emotional control. Considering the negative consequences of GD, the present study investigated the effectiveness of emotional working memory training (eWMT) in improving cognitive control, attention, working memory capacity, and cognitive emotion regulation strategies (CERS) among young adults with GD compared to a placebo group. Following the initial assessment in the pre-test phase, eligible participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups: experimental (n = 34) and placebo (n = 30). These groups completed eWMT and a feature matching task for 20 sessions respectively. The post-test and follow-up measures indicated that eWMT significantly improved cognitive control, attention, working memory capacity, and the use of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, but it had no significant effect on adaptive CERS. The promising results of the present study suggest the use of eWMT as a new intervention to improve cognitive-emotional control among individuals with online gambling problems.

Automatic detection of problem-gambling signs from online texts using large language models.

Problem gambling is a major public health concern and is associated with profound psychological distress and economic problems. There are numerous gambling communities on the internet where users exchange information about games, gambling tactics, as well as gambling-related problems. Individuals exhibiting higher levels of problem gambling engage more in such communities. Online gambling communities may provide insights into problem-gambling behaviour. Using data scraped from a major German gambling discussion board, we fine-tuned a large language model, specifically a Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) model, to predict signs of problem-gambling from forum posts. Training data were generated by manual annotation and by taking into account diagnostic criteria and gambling-related cognitive distortions. Using cross-validation, our models achieved a precision of 0.95 and F1 score of 0.71, demonstrating that satisfactory classification performance can be achieved by generating high-quality training material through manual annotation based on diagnostic criteria. The current study confirms that a BERT-based model can be reliably used on small data sets and to detect signatures of problem gambling in online communication data. Such computational approaches may have potential for the detection of changes in problem-gambling prevalence among online users.

Criminal Liability of Online Gambling Perpetrators in Indonesia According to the Electronic Information and Transactions Law

Online gambling has become increasingly prevalent over a long time due to the ease of access and the ability to play from anywhere with an online association. The reason for this consideration is to look at and analyze the legal provisions against online gambling offenders in Indonesia. The research method used in this study can be a normative legal approach supported by experimental law with graphic depiction. In extension, important information is also used as supporting material for additional information. For control checks, legitimate and standardized check strategies are used. From the search results regarding the legal provisions against the perpetrators of online betting violations in Indonesia, it appears that the legal authority against online betting violations is the criminal sanction against online betting based on Article 45 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions, but the punishment for the perpetrators is lower than the threat of criminal sanctions in Article 303 of the Criminal Code, so it does not have an inhibiting impact on the perpetrators of online betting violations. Criminal liability for online betting offenses in Indonesia is the responsibility of the perpetrators of online betting offenses indicated by the existence of criminal offense components. In addition, the activity component is one of the most important components in criminal liability, because a person cannot be sentenced if he does not commit an act that is classified as an act rejected by the law.

Understanding the Emergence of Comorbidity between Problematic Online Gaming and Gambling: A Network Analysis Approach.

Problematic online gaming and gambling tend to co-occur. The exact mechanisms underlying this phenomenon and the potential effects of gender differences remain unknown. This study aimed to identify the early clustering patterns of problematic online gaming and gambling in a community sample of young adults without a lifetime history of psychiatric treatment. Data were collected through an online survey and analyzed using partial correlations and Bayesian networks. Altogether, 1441 individuals (aged 18-40 years, 51.4% females) participated in the survey. Both problematic online behaviors were weakly interrelated, suggesting that they serve as distinct constructs. Men's networks appeared to be more complex and had significantly higher global connectivity. Moreover, men and women differed with respect to the specific nodes that bridged both constructs. In men, the bridge nodes were "being criticized because of betting or being told about gambling problems", "loss of previous interests due to gaming", "deceiving other people because of gaming", and "health consequences of gambling". Among women, the bridge nodes were "feeling guilty because of gambling", "loss of previous interests because of gaming", "social consequences of gaming", and "continued gaming problems with other people". In men, the strongest edge was found between "borrowing money/selling anything to gamble" and "financial problems because of gambling", while in women, the strongest edge appeared between "betting more than afforded to be lost" and "tolerance symptoms of gambling". The findings indicate that problematic online gaming and gambling tend to emerge in different ways among men and women. Therapeutic interventions should be planned considering gender differences.

Addictive Behavior of Online Slot Game Players Psychoanalytic Perspective

One of the deviant acts that often occur and disturb the community is gambling. The act of gambling arises because of unstable conditions both in terms of religion, economy and morals. This study aims to determine the form or form of personality of online slot game players, especially among the community. In this study, the authors used a research method conducted with a qualitative. Based on the results of interviews with informants who play online slot games, it shows that they started playing online slot games through the scope of friendship or association. As a result, online slot games have become popular among the surrounding community. Even the players themselves realize that what they are doing is wrong and deviates from the norms of society. By using Freud's Psychoanalysis theory, there are 3 elements that influence human personality, namely Id, Ego and Superego. The element that has the most influence on the personality of online slot game players is Id. It can be concluded that the internet has an important role in the development of online gambling which affects individual personalities as well as the lives of society as a whole.

In East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) there are various types of gambling, ranging from offline gambling to online gambling. In the city of Kupang itself there are various kinds of gambling, starting from offline gambling, namely, kuru-kuru or throwing dice, rolling ball, cockfighting or cockfighting and bingo, as well as online gambling which is usually called lottery gambling or white coupons. In short, gambling itself is the action of a person or a number of people in risking a certain amount of money or objects in order to seek profit and includes all kinds of bets in the form of money or objects, either directly or indirectly, such as online payments via online applications or existing online sites to facilitate transaction. This research uses normative legal research methods sourced from data obtained in the form of legal rules, legal principles and legal doctrines to answer the problems studied. The research results show that the occurrence of gambling in Indonesia to date is one of the factors caused by the weaknesses in the regulations regarding criminal acts of gambling offline and online so that gambling in Indonesia is still very widespread.

Impact of Gambling on the Internet on Middle-Term and Long-Term Recovery from Gambling Disorder: A 2-Year Longitudinal Study.

Online gamblers are more likely to experience gambling problems. The main objective was to compare the frequency of recovery one (middle-term) and two (long-term) years after treatment initiation, according to the gambling medium (Internet vs. land-based gambling). The secondary objectives were (i) to compare online and offline gamblers at inclusion and (ii) to investigate whether the gambling medium was a predictive factor of recovery. Outpatients beginning treatment for a GD (n = 237) were assessed at inclusion (treatment initiation) and after 1 and 2 years. Bivariate analyses were performed to compare online and offline gamblers at inclusion and on the frequency of recovery at one and two years. Two multivariate logistic regressions were then performed to identify factors associated with middle- and long-term recovery. The majority of patients achieved middle (74.2%) and long-term (78.9%) recovery, with no difference between online and offline gamblers. The gambling medium was not a predictive factor of recovery. Patients with a higher perceived self-efficacy (OR = 1.04 [1.01-1.07], p = .046) and having no history of mood disorders (OR = 11.18 [2.53-49.50], p < .001) at inclusion were more likely to achieve middle-term recovery, while long-term recovery was associated with a lower level of sensation seeking (OR = 0.67 [0.48-0.92], p = .015) at treatment initiation. Online gambling did not seem to influence middle- and long-term recovery compared to offline gambling. Enhancement of perceived self-efficacy and treatment of mood disorders, and treatment strategies focused on sensation-seeking may represent helpful care strategies for favouring achievement of middle-term recovery and maintenance of long-term recovery, respectively.
