The success of artificial insemination is determined by three main factors namely; livestock, cement and humans. The human factor is one of the determining factors, especially the characteristics of farmers. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of cattle farmers and the success of artificial insemination based on Service per Conception (S/C) in Palas Sub District, South Lampung District. This research was conducted in Palas Sub District, South Lampung District. The time of research was in July 2023. The material for this research was ongole cattle farmers in Palas Sub District, namely 150 cattle famers. The research sample is 60 cattle famers. The research method used is survey method. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis, namely analysis to explain the characteristics of cattle farmers and the success of insemination based on Service per Conception (S/C). The results of the research on the characteristics of onggole cattle farmers in Palas Sub District, South Lampung District, obtained an average age of famers cattle was 42.53, the level of education of cattle famers was mostly junior high school (SMP) and high school (SMA), the average length of time they raised cattle average 7.08 years, and there were no farmers who had ever been involved in animal husbandry training. The success rate of artificial insemination in ongole crossbreed cattle based on service per conception (S/C) obtained an average value of S/C = 1.54.

Comparison of Hematological Levels of Simmental-Ongole Crossbreed (SimPO) and Ongole Crossbreed (PO) Cattle Reared Semi-Intensively

Hematological analysis in cattle is an important basis for determining physiological conditions, biomedical study, and veterinary clinical diagnosis. This study aimed to determine the comparison of hematological values between Simmental-Ongole crossbreed (SimPO) and Ongole crossbreed (PO) cattle reared semi-intensively in oil palm plantations area. A total of 70 blood samples were collected from 35 female SimPO and 35 female PO cattle aged ± 3,5 years who reared from the same area. Blood samples were collected via the coccygeal vein as much as 3 ml, performed at 07.00 in the morning before being grazed on oil palm plantations. Blood samples were collected using a vacutainer tube containing Ethylene Diamine Tetra-Acetic Acid (EDTA) for further analysis using a hematology analyzer. Data from hematological examination results were then analyzed using an independent sample t-test with a significance level of p < 0,05. In results, reported that there were no significant differences in several hematological parameters that have been analyzed. We can conclude that there was no substantial hematological level in the SimPO and PO cattle reared semi-intensively on oil palm plantations.

Studi Karakteristik Bobot Lahir Hasil Persilangan Belgian Blue dan Peranakan Ongole di Provinsi Jawa Barat

Research on birth weight characteristics of crosses of Belgian Blue and Ongole Crossbreeds in West Java was carried out in April – Mei 2022 located in West Java. The purpose of the study was to determine the location of the distribution of Belgian Blue and birth weight characteristics of crosses of Belgian Blue and Ongole Crossbreeds in West Java. The sample used was 17 calves. The method in the research used is exploratory descriptive analysis. The average birth weight of crosses of Belgian Blue and Ongole Crossbreeds is 31,47 ± 6,11 kilograms, with average birth weight of male calves is 30,94 ± 7,88 kilograms and average birth weight of female calves is 31,71 ± 5,56 kilograms. The results of analysis show that the average birth weight of crosses of Belgian Blue and Ongole Crossbreed is higher than the average birth weight of Ongole Crossbreed and lower than the average birth weight of Belgian Blue.

EVALUASI BANTUAN PROGRAM UPPO (UNIT PENGOLAHAN PUPUK ORGANIK) PADA KELOMPOK TANI DI KABUPATEN SOLOK - SUMATERA BARAT

This study aimed to determine the inputs given, the process of implementing the UPPO program, and the results of the UPPO program in Solok Regency. Respondents in the study were Farmer Groups who received assistance from the Organic Fertilizer Processing Unit (UPPO) program in 2017, namely the Kelompok Tani Hulu Gawan, Kandih Maju Bersama, dan Kelompok Tani Sawah Rambahan. The method that we used in this study is a survey method. The observed variables are inputs and outputs of implementation of the UPPO program. The results of this study indicate that the inputs for the UPPO program assistance carried out by the research farmer groups are match accordance with the technical instructions for processing organic fertilizers. The livestock breeds used were Simmenal Cattle, Ongole Crossbreed, Limousin and Coastal Cattle. The feed given to livestock is field grass and beef, livestock rearing is carried out intensively, disease prevention that has been carried out is cage sanitation and treatment of intestinal worms by giving Albendazole bolus drug and in kelompok tani Hulu Gawan, injured cattle are given Gusanex Antiseptic spray. For the cattle marketing is generally through intermediary trading. The production of organic fertilizer for the Kelompok Tani Hulu Gawan is 2.1 tons/month with 9 livestock, Kandih Maju Bersama 1.4 tons/month with 5 livestock and Sawah Rambahan 1.7 tons/month with 7 livestock. Birth rate of cattle in the Kelompok Tani Hulu Gawan in the number of children born was 2, Kandih Maju Bersama and Sawah Rambahan was 1 cattle. None of the cattle of the Kandih Maju Bersama and Sawah Rambahan farmer groups died, while the Kelompok Tani Hulu Gawan had 1 death. Body Weight Performance of Ongole Grade Cattle at BPTU-HPT Sembawa Banyuasin South Sumatra

Ongole Grade cattle development continues to be carried out, because it has a uniform physical form and genetic composition, as well as the ability to adapt well to environmental constraints. Selection of beef cattle can be done by considering the quantitative characteristics of beef cattle, so that beef cattle with the best performance can be obtained. The aim of the study was to analyze the performance of birth weight, weaning weight (205 days), and yearling weight in Ongole Grade cattle at BPTU-HPT Sembawa from 2014 – 2021 which is influenced by sex and parity. The total records used were 1,125 weight records consisting of 424 birth weight records, 360 weaning weight records, and 341 yearling weight records, which consisted of 9 sires, 178 dams, 199 male calves and 225 female calves. Records were analyzed using the General Linear Model (GLM) and Duncan Multiple Range Test to determine the effect of sex and parity using SAS 9.0 software. The results showed that the performance of birth, weaning, and yearling weight were significantly affected (P<0.05) by sex and parity. Correction of body weight performance of Ongole Crossbreed cattle should be carried out before analyzing genetic parameters to reduce possible bias in the selection results.

Strategi Penanganan dan Pengembangan Usaha Ternak Sapi PO di Kawasan Penyangga Taman Nasional Baluran

The semi-extensive of Ongole Crossbreed cattle business has been carried out for generations by the people of Baluran National Park bufferzone area. The existence of abundant forage in the savanna is the main attraction for farmers and investors to get involved in this business. On the other hand, these activities are limited by legal aspects of national park management. The research was conducted on March, 11, 2021 – December, 23, 2021 used a mixed method squential exploratory model with purposive and exclusion samples. Data were obtained through observations in grazing areas and interviews based on a questionnaire to 60 respondents. The results showed that livestock farming was carried out under a profit-sharing system with 4,718 AU with total investor ownership of 2,608 AU (55.3%) and the highest forage yield during the rainy season was 766.5 gr/m2. Based on the available traditional and special areas of 2,397.29 Ha, the estimated maximum capacity during the rainy season is 805.5 AU. The results of the SOAR analysis are increasing the capacity of the role of area managers through the stages of forming fostered livestock groups and pilot cage, localizing limited grazing by area zoning arrangements, implementing a pasture grazing system, creating policies for dealing with illegal grazing and increasing socialization of intensive livestock farming with business schemes.

Successful Separation of X- and Y-Spermatozoa Ongole Crossbreed Using a Nano-Albumen Gradient Column

The objective of this study was to determine the efficacy of separating X- and Y-sperm using nano-albumen (NA). The material used in this study was fresh semen of Ongole Crossbreed bulls with progressive motility of ≥ 70%. Treatments for the top and bottom fractions were T0 (BSA 5% : 10%) as a control, T1 (NA 2% : 4%), T2 (NA 4% : 6%), and T3 (NA 6% : 8%). Sexed semen was evaluated for characteristics and kinematics, and the proportions of sexed semen were validated using morphometric and polymerase chain reaction methods. The data on the characteristics and motility kinematics of X- and Y-sperm were analyzed by ANOVA using Minitab 18. The results revealed that the semen separated by the NA column generally showed the same sperm quality characteristics as the BSA column. However, the total motility of the T3y treatment in the bottom fraction was significantly lower (p<0.05) compared to the control. The kinematics of spermatozoa motility in the top fraction was not significantly different; however, the progressive motility value of T3y was significantly different (p<0.05) compared to that of T1y, and the BCF value of T2y was significantly different from that of the control in the bottom fraction. The acrosome status in the top fraction was better than in the bottom fraction, and the DNA integrity value of the top and bottom fractions showed DNA damage ranging from 2% to 5%. The present study indicated that: (1) the Nano-Albumen gradient column could be used successfully to separate X- and Y-spermatozoa, (2) characteristic values and sperm kinematics, acrosomal status, and DNA integrity were comparable to those of the BSA control, (3) combination column in treatments NA 4% (T2x) and 6% (T2y) appeared the good ability to separated X and Y-sperm.

Comparison of Quality Physicochemical Longissimus Dorsi Mucsle of Ongole Crossbred Culled Cow Beef and Bali Culled Cow Beef

Each meat of the breed has different quality of physicall and chemicall, they are several factors that influence it, one of them is age factor. The result of this research is to find the physical and chemical quality of the 6 years Ongole Crossbread culled cow beef and Bali culled cow beef from Longissimus dorsi sample. The treatments is T1 = Ongole Crossbreed culled cow beef and T2 = Bali culled cow beef with each treatments as much 4 cows as a replications. Data analysis in this research used t-Student test. Parameters observed were pH value, water holding capacity, cooking loss, moisture, protein, and fat content. Result of research indicated that have a significantly different (p&lt;0.01) on pH value, water holding capacity, moisture, protein, and fat content. As well as cooking loss was not significantly different (p&gt;0.05). Research that pH value, water holding capacity, and fat content Ongole Crossbreed Culled Cow Beef was higher than that of Bali Culled Cow Beef, but moisture and protein was lower than those of Bali Culled Cow Beef.

Analysis of Strategy for Local Beef Cattle Competitiveness Development in North Sulawesi

Local beef cattle (Ongole Crossbreed) in North Sulawesi are still traditionally raised, making its product competitiveness is low. The purpose of this research is to describe the utilization of production factors increasing the competitiveness of livestock and meat commodities, conduct a feasibility study for its development, and formulate a strategy for developing its competitiveness. This qualitative-descriptive research is a case study model involving 160 respondents purposively selected as the sample. The analytical method was the feasibility test of investment criteria. The strategy formulation was divided into the input stage (to analyze internal and external factors), the matching stage (SWOT matrix and IE matrix), and the decision stage (with a Quantitative Strategy Planning Matrix). The findings indicate that the production factor resources were available with investment criteria requirement and strategic priority.

Performance of Local Beef Cattle For Fattening with Sorinfer Feed After A Short Distance Transportation

Abstract A good quality of feed should be fed to the animal after transport. The objective of the research was to investigate the effect of sorinfer and commercial concentrate feed on feedlot performance of local beef cattle after short period of transportation. This study used 8 Ongole Crossbreed (PO) and 8 Local Crossbreed Cattle (SL) bull with average age of 18-30 months. The average body weight of Ongole and Local Crossbreed Cattle were 291.5±23.5 kg and 289.0±26.3 kg respectively. The bull was allotted into two treatment of feed namely Sorinfer and commercial concentrate feed. Parameter observed were body weight loss, recovery time, body weight after short fattening period, average daily gain, feed consumption and conversion. A factorial 2 × 2 design was used for data analysis. Result shows that average of body weight loss for both breed was 1,2%. Furthermore, recovery time for both breed was similar for 10 days. In addition, PO cattle with Sorinfer and commercial concentrate feed has higher body weight gain and final weight (P&lt;0,05) compare to SL cattle. In conclusion, sorinfer feed was effective for recovery after transport for local beef cattle. However, sorinfer provide lower performance compare to commercial concentrate for short fattening period.

Beef Floss Efficiency in Women Farmer Group Karya Sejahtera in Wawasan Village Tanjungsari Districts

As the Ongole Cross-Breed breeding cluster, cattle farms in the Wawasan village area had applied beef products of diversification beef floss to solve fluctuations in cattle prices, low farm income, and seasonal cattle sales. This study purposed to analyze the economic efficiency of beef floss production in KWT Karya Sejahtera. The basic method of this research was descriptive-analytic. The research location was chosen purposively by KWT Karya Sejahtera as the production center for beef floss in Tanjungsari District. The analytical method was cost analysis, profitability, and business efficiency. The analysis results and discussion showed that the beef floss production was efficiently managed. It was indicated by the efficiency value of the beef floss business of 1.3 (more than 1). As a whole, beef floss production contributes an additional 20% of what is run by farmers, so this business is feasible to run economically.

Pengaruh perbedaan level pupuk urin terfermentasi pada media tanam hidroponik terhadap komposisi dan kecernaan nutrien fodder sorgum

&lt;p class="MDPI17abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Objective: &lt;/strong&gt;This study aims to determine the nutritional value and nutrient digestibility by in vitro of fodder sorghum (&lt;em&gt;Sorghum bicolor&lt;/em&gt; (L.) Moench) from the effect of the addition of fermented urine fertilizer to the hydroponic media.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MDPI17abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Methods: &lt;/strong&gt;The research used sorghum Numbu varieties grown hydroponically in the fodder phase, which was carried out in June - September 2020. The research treatments consist of water medium (T1), fermented urine 12.5 mL/L (T2) and 25 mL/L media (T3) with 4 replications. The urine fertilizer used was derived from fermented Ongole Crossbreed cow urine for 21 days. Fodder sorghum planted for 15 days. The results of the fodder harvest were analyzed by proximate and in vitro nutrient digestibility. Observation nutritional value parameters consists of dry matter (DM), organic matter (OM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), crude fiber (CF), total nutrient digestible (TDN), dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility (OMD). Data were analyzed using one way ANOVA design, the significance by Duncan's Multiple Range Test.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MDPI17abstract"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Results&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;strong&gt;: &lt;/strong&gt;The results showed that the addition of fermented urine had no effect on the DM, OM, and EE, but had a significant effect (P &amp;lt;0.05) on CP, CF, TDN and nutrient digestibility. The T2 and T3 treatments increased crude protein by 6.31% and 11.23% compared to T1. T3 treatment increased organic matter digestibility by 3.06% compared to T1.&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Conclusions: &lt;/strong&gt;It can be concluded that the crude protein and organic matter digestibility of sorghum fodder at 15 days harvest stage, increases with the addition of fermented cattle urine up to 25.0 ml/L hydroponic media.

Evaluasi Program Pemuliaan Berdasarkan Parameter Genetik dan Fenotipik Pada Sapi Peranakan Ongole

The field station of the School for Smallholder Community, Sekaran Village, Kasiman District is one ofthe places for beef cattle development in Bojonegoro Regency. Sekaran Field Station has several breedsof cattle, including Ongole Crossbred. Ongole Crossbreeds have a large population in the Sekaran Schoolfor Smallholder Community with a population of 38%. Evaluation of breeding programs is based ongenetic parameters and can be used to obtain the latest information on the successful implementation ofbreeding programs in a population of livestock. The aim of this study was to evaluate the developmentprogram of Ongole Crossbreed cattle at the Sekaran School for Smallholder Community field stationusing genetic and phenotypic parameters. This study uses a survey method based on questionnaires byconducting interviews with farmers. The data observed were recorded data from 190 heads of OngoleCrossbreeds. The parameters observed were breeding values, genetic and phenotypic correlations, aswell as genetic and phenotypic patterns. The results showed that the highest estimation of breedingvalue in Ongole Crossbred was 5.71 (6 heads) and the lowest was 0.10 (2 heads). The genetic correlationof age at first giving birth, calving distance and empty period ranged from -0.03–0.13. The phenotypiccorrelation of the three reproductive traits ranged from -0.12-0.09. The genetic patterns of age at firstgiving birth, calving distance and empty period were -0.97 months/year, -2.51 days/year and 0.05 days/year, respectively. The phenotypic patterns of the three reproductive traits were 36 months/year, 388days/year and 84 days/year, respectively. Based on the results of the evaluation of the breeding programusing genetic and phenotypic parameters, the development of Ongole Peranakan cattle needs to becontinued by implementing good and digital-based management in order to provide success in the OngoleCrossbred development program at the Sekaran field station of the School for Smallholder Community.

In vitro gas production and its prediction on metabolize energy of complete feed using rumen fluid of three Indigenous cattle as inoculum taken from abattoir

In vitro gas production (IVGP) technique has been routinely used to evaluate the nutritional value of ruminant feed. The pre-requisite of using rumen fluid from fistulae animals is now facing a raising pressure from the animal welfare organization to ban this practice. Alternatively, rumen fluid (RF) from abattoir has been suggested to be used as source of inoculum by a number of scientists. The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of rumen fluid taken from cattle that were slaughtered at Surabaya abattoir as inoculum for IVGP measurement and its prediction on metabolic energy (ME) of a complete feed. Fresh rumen fluid of three indigenous cattle, namely Ongole Cross Breed (OCB), Madura (MC) and Bali Cattle (BC) was transferred into a vacuum thermo flask and immediately transported to the animal nutrition laboratory of Brawijaya University for further processes to measure IVGP of complete feed in a completely randomized block design with two replicates each. Gas production was monitored at time intervals and terminated after 48 hours incubation in the oxygen-free glass syringes at 38°C. Feed degradability was calculated by gravimetric method at 48 hours, while prediction of ME content was based on 24 h GP and estimated using the equation described by Menke and Steingass (1979).The results demonstrated that inoculum from OCB resulted in the superiority in all parameters, namely total GP (ml/500 mg DM), potential of GP (ml/500 mg DM), rate constant of gas production for insoluble fraction (ml/hour), and estimated ME content (MJ/DM) compared with MC and BC. Based on these findings it can be concluded that the fermentation process of complete feed in the rumen of OCB is more efficient than MC and BC which reflects to the more efficient interaction among rumen microbes to ferment the feed ingredients.

Sperms motility of Ongole Crossbreed (OC) Bull at various age

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of different ages on characteristics of sperms motility of Ongole Crossbreed (OC) bulls. The material used was 12 PO bulls aged 4–6 years old, distinguished into 2 age groups, namely 4-5 years old (6 heads) and 5–6 years old (6 heads). Collecting semen was done by using an electro ejaculator. Examination of motility (kinetic parameters) used SCA v. 2.1. The parameters measured include: progressive motility, motility, velocity curve linear (VCL), velocity straight linear (VSL), velocity average pathway (VAP), linearity (LIN), straightness (STR), wobble (WOB), amplitude lateral head (ALH), beat cross frequency (BCF) and hyperactivity (H) of sperms. Data were analyzed using a T-test (IBM SPSS 16). The results showed that the value of BCF in the 5–6 years old group was significantly higher (P<0.05) than the 4–5 years old group. The age of the bull affected the sperm’s kinetic parameters (BCF). The 5–6 years old group has a more regular pattern of sperms movement than the 4–5 years old group.

The potential of growth traits between Limousin and Ongole Crossbred (PO) cattle at Tuban, Indonesia

During growth, cattle increase in weight, size, and also in muscle tissue proportions. Wide variability of carcass traits can be used as base selection on cattle growth. Carcass traits are economical traits that influenced by a complex network of gene interactions in the muscle, and tools such as RNA Sequencing can be used to identify gene interaction for improve important traits. This study aimed to identify the variability of live weight, body measurement and carcass weight of Limousin and PO cattle. A total of 25 animals were used in this research. The results showed that all of body measurements of Limousin cattle were higher than in PO cattle. Live weight and carcass weight of Limousin cattle were higher than PO cattle. Chest grith and body height had a significant correlation in Limousin cattle, meanwhile all of body measurements and carcass weight were not significant in PO cattle. The research concluded that PO and Limousin had a different carcass weight.

Genetic marker exploration of fertility genes IGF 1 and IGF 2 at Ongole Cross breed cattle with naturally twin birth

The phenomenon of beef cattle with twin births naturally is still unknown. The aim of this research is to explore genetic marka of IGF1 and IGF 2 genes as regulators of fertility in beef cattle with twin births naturally. Ongole Cross (OC) breed catte, each 10 cows with single or twin births naturally in Beef Cattle Research Station, take blood to make plasma samples according to the Boyan method, than make DNA isolation samples according to the QIAamp method, to be PCR analysis according to the Perkin-Elmer method and to be sequencing according to the Phenol-Chloroform method, in the Tropical Disease Center (TDC) Hospital, Airlangga University. The primers used are IGF 1 forward 5’-CCTCTGCGGGGCTGAGTTGGT-3’, reverse 5’-CGACTTGGCGGGCTTGAGA GGC-3’ and IGF 2 forward 5’-TCTGTGCGGCGGGGAGCTGGT-3’, reverse 5’-AGTCTCCAGCA GGGCCAGGTCG-3. Parameters observed: allele band, genotypic diversity and nucleotide acids composition of IGF genes. Allele band variation data is processed with Nt programe software to determine its genotype, nucleotide gene sequens data is processed using the GENETIC MAC version 8 program to determine gemone mutation construction of IGF, then presented descriptively. The results showed: the spread of IGF 1 allele band in cows with single birth at position 875–1200 bp and twin birth at position 875–1485 bp; spreading of IGF 2 allele band in cows with single birth at position 450-590 bp and twin birth at position 455–1110 bp; genotype diversity of IGF 1 genes at cows with single birth was homozygous AA with allele size 920–1200 bp and twin birth was heterozygote AB with allele size A 875-1150 bp and B allele 1250–1485 bp; genotype diversity of IGF 2 genes in cows with single birth was homozygous AA with allele size 460–560 bp and twin birth was heterozygote AB with allele size A 450-590 bp and B allele 940–1110 bp; at certain positions and nucleotide acids arrangement in both IGF 1 and IGF 2 genes of cows with single birth, was different with twin birth. It was concluded, the genetic marka of IGF 1 and IGF 2 genes of OC breed cattle, were different among cows with single birth and cows with twin birth.

Factors Affecting Service Per Conception of Ongole Cross-breed Cattles in Tanjung Sari District

One of the parameters to see the reproductive performance of cattle is service per conception (S/C). The lack of information on important factors affecting S/C in Ongole Cross-breed (PO) cattles breeding underlies this research. The analysis in this research was linear regression using the MINITAB 16 application. The results of the research for service per conception (S/C) in Ongole Cross-breed (PO) cattles in Tanjung Sari sub-district were classified as ideal with a value of 1.29 ± 0.52. Each increase in the value of the BCS score will increase the S/C value. Each added age value at first married, it will increase the S/C value. Each added value of the parent's age will reduce the S/C value. The conclusion in this study is that S/C in PO cattles in Tanjung Sari District is 1.29 ± 0.52. Factors that affect the value of conception rate in PO cattles in Tanjung Sari district was the BCS score which was positively associated with S/C with a value of 0.553, age at first mated was negatively associated with S/C with a value of -0.434, and age parent was negatively associated with S/C with value of -0,114.

Evaluation of the use of plant organic components and probiotics on ruminal characteristics and as a decrease of methane

The reduction of CH4 from the digestive tract of ruminants can be done through the use of organic components of plants such as tannins and saponins and the use of probiotics. This study aims to evaluate the addition of organic components and probiotics to the characteristics of rumen fluid and its ability to reduce CH4 in Ongole Cross Breed (PO) cattle. Sengon (Paraserianthes falcataria) leaf meal and Trembesi (Samanea saman) leaf meal are used as organic components due to their tannin and saponin content. Probiotics contain Acetoanaerobium notarae and Saccharomyces cereviseae. This research used total mixed ration as a feed. A total of 24 heads PO cattle were divided into 4 treatments, ie T1 = control treatment; T2 = T1 + organic components, T3 = T1 + Probiotics and T4 = T1 + organic components + probiotics. The research design was a randomized block design. The combination treatment of the addition of organic components and probiotic caused a decrease in the ratio of acetic acid to propionic acid (C 2 :C3), percentage of acetic acid, the concentration of CO2 and CH4, but increases the percentage of propionate acid. The combination of organic components and probiotics is the greatest decrease in CH4 production from enteric fermentation.
