Disability which emerged with the history of humanity is also an ongoing disadvantage in today’s society. Different applications in different periods of history are made for disabled people, as for the modern world, services for this group has gained variety within the context of social state. From time to time people with disabilities have found to be potential criminals by their families and other members of the community, sometimes this case is approached with a pain sensation, and also sometimes different projects are produced so that they can integrate into society. Proliferation of the disabled population is increasing the concerns in this area. The global increase in chronic health problems cause an increase in the disabled population due to aging of population and elderly people’s high risk of becoming disabled. Worldwide, people with disabilities, compared to people without disabilities; have worse health status, have lower educational attainment and economic participation, and have higher poverty rates as well. This difference can be partially explained by several barriers that disabled people face in accessing to services such as health, education, employment, transportation and getting information which many people are accustomed to their presence, and easily get access. In this study, social, cultural, economic, educational, and health related problems of disabled people living in Doganhisar District of Konya and precautions to be taken against these problems are practically discussed. Achieved results are expected to shed light to identify the problems of the disabled. A survey and interviews are conducted with 258 disabled people and their families whom were visited in their homes. In this extend it was based on the assumptions of ensuring disabled people’s effective participation in society, preventing their encounter with physical, social, economic and behavioral barriers, determining the contribution of the state to them and their families, and giving importance to increase the psycho-social support services. Economic assistance to individuals with disabilities and their families is not sufficient enough to be happy and live a healthy life. They seek to participate in social life and been attributed to be valuable by other members of society. This research focuses on how disabled people approach to such problems and their expectations.
