OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INTERVENTIONS TO IMPROVE OCCUPATIONAL PARTICIPATION AND REDUCE THE RISK OF FALLS IN ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH OSTEOARTHRITIS

Global trends show an increase in life expectancy. A similar trend in life expectancy growth is typical for Ukraine. However, even a positive trend towards an increase in average life expectancy cannot stop the inevitable process of aging, which leads to a decrease in the functional and physiological capabilities of all body systems.
 Osteoarthritis is the most common disease of elderly. Osteoarthritis of the joints of the lower extremities is a risk factor for falls syndrome. Falls lead to a decrease in physical functioning, independence and occupational participation, increase the fear of the next fall, and bring serious injuries, even depth. The role of an occupational therapist in falls prevention is undeniable. It helps maximize the ability to participate in the occupational activity that is meaningful to the client, and modifies the client's lifestyle and living environment for safe occupational performance.
 The aim of the research. To scientifically justify and develop a comprehensive program of occupational therapy interventions to reduce the risk of falls for elderly women with osteoarthritis of the lower extremities by means of occupational therapy.
 Materials and methods. In order to fully solve the tasks and study the activity of elderly women with osteoarthritis of the joints of the lower extremities, the following research methods were chosen: analysis of special and scientific and methodical literature; content analysis of medical records, interviews, observations; WOMAC Osteoarthritis Index and assessment of fear of falling according to Falls Efficacy Scale International.
 48 women aged 62 to 89 took part in the ascertainment experiment. Women were divided into 2 groups - main (MG) and control (CG), 24 people in each. The main group included women with osteoarthritis of the lower extremities. In the control group people were without damage to the joints. The program lasted for 6 (six) months. The people of CG received recommendations about general physical activity with reference to WHO guideline. The people of MG received therapeutic exercises on strength, balance, coordination, endurance, improvement of walking skills and occupational therapy interventions with: training to perform occupations safely; creation of a new stereotype of behavior to avoid falling; modification of the environment; review of medications which can provoke a fall; learning to use assistive equipment; techniques to get up safely and effectively after a fall.
 Research results. Based on the obtained data, it is evident that both groups experienced an increase of independence level in functioning, less of pain, stiffness and fear of falling.
 Conclusions. Both falling and the fear of falling significantly reduce the ability to lead a full and independent life, bring undesirable consequences, including serious injuries, and interfere with the ability to do what is most important for a person. In the foreign literature, there is a lot of evidence about the contribution of occupational therapy to the prevention of falls. The results of the conducted research give grounds for asserting that the application developed by us a multi-component program of occupational therapy interventions developed for elderly people with osteoarthritis of the joints of the lower extremities is an effective means of reducing the risk of falls in this category of people. The advantages of the developed program are confirmed by the results of own research.

Management of chronic pain by occupational therapist: A description of practice profile.

Background. Current state of knowledge regarding occupational therapy's contribution to chronic pain (CP) management has evolved over the past decade. Yet, has this been transferred to clinical practice? Purpose. Describe the current state of practice of CP management-specific occupational therapy. Method. An online survey was sent to occupational therapists working with CP patients. Findings. Of the 90 respondents (11.9%), 42.2% worked in primary care and 52.2% in secondary care. They reported that their primary role aimed at enabling occupation and providing vocational rehabilitation. The Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and Engagement (CMOP-E) (87.8%), semi-structured interview (86.7%), and education on energy conservation (65.6%) and postural hygiene (60.0%) were the most frequently reported conceptual model, assessment, and intervention methods. Implications. Results illustrate the diversity of current occupational therapy practice in CP management and suggest opportunities for improvement to ensure best practices are adopted, by emphasizing an occupation-based vision of health and well-being.

Contribuição das intervenções da terapia ocupacional na abordagem do idoso internado em Unidades Geriátricas Agudas: uma revisão narrativa

Abstract Introduction The Acute Geriatric Units (AGU) are units specialized in caring for the elderly people. Specifically in Chile, there are few professionals dedicated to this area, despite establishing more acute geriatric units with an interdisciplinary team. From occupational therapy, an approach from an occupational perspective is possible. However, little evidence was found that explains the contribution of occupational therapy in AGU in the Chilean context. Objetive Summarize the contribution of the interventions carried out by occupational therapists to elderly people hospitalized in AGU, reviewing national and international literature. Methodology Narrative bibliographic review, between October 2021 and January 2022. Results The main results highlight the contribution of occupational therapy to address frailty in older people in interventions carried out by interdisciplinary teams, the promotion and respect for autonomy and independence (in Basic and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living), the functional recovery and preparation for discharge, contributing to the reduction of rehospitalization rates. Conclusion The participation of occupational therapy in the AGU provides tools and strengthens the skills of older people in order to allow them to function effectively in their occupations, independently and autonomously in various contexts, mainly in activities of daily living. In addition, it seeks to raise awareness of the importance of increasing specialization in this area and the need to increase the number of AGU nationwide.

Transtornos pelo uso de substâncias e funcionamento social sob uma perspectiva ocupacional: um pré e pós estudo

Abstract Introduction Improvements in the social functioning (SF) of people experiencing substance use disorders (SUD) can occur even without use discontinuation. Occupational Therapy (OT) performs multifaceted work on it. Objective This study analyzes the SF of people experiencing SUD before and after treatment and the contributions of OT. Method A pre and post-study before and after starting treatment for SUD in a Psychosocial Care Centre - Alcohol and other Drugs (CAPS-AD) in Brasilia, Brazil - was conducted with 35 clients based on an SF questionnaire. A measure of the participant's SF improvement was defined as the difference between the SF before treatment (SFpre) with the SF after treatment (SFafter). The association between SF and sociodemographic variables/drug/previous treatment was verified by linear regression; all analyses considered a significance level <5%. Results Most of the 35 participants were male (83%), 30-49 years old (77%), attended elementary school (57%), unemployed (57%), single (46%), Black (40%), had been treated previously (60%) and had present alcohol use disorder (46%). Overall, people undergoing treatment significantly improved their SF. Multivariate analysis showed that Whites improved their SF more (mean of 18.8± 10.4) than Pardos/Blacks (10.8± 8.7; 14.1± 6.4), and the improvement in SF was lower for participants who were taking treatment for the first time (10.3± 5.7) compared with those who had previous treatment (17.2± 9.4). Conclusion Treatment in CAPS-AD improved the SF of people experiencing SUD, and the OT professional is a key agent in improving SF due to its performance and approach to clients in vulnerable contexts.

Projecting life as a young girl: contributions of occupational social therapy

Resumo A condição da mulher em nossa sociedade tem importantes implicações em termos de hierarquia, assimetria, discriminação e desigualdade, cerceando possibilidades na projeção da vida. Considerando que ser uma jovem menina traz implicações que se materializam na vivência da juventude e nos sonhos e projetos que podem se construir nessa fase, esta pesquisa buscou conhecer dimensões da vida de meninas/mulheres estudantes do Ensino Médio que influenciam a projeção de suas vidas, bem como as possíveis contribuições da terapia ocupacional social no enfrentamento desta problemática. Para que tais objetivos fossem cumpridos, utilizou-se de uma metodologia participativa, na modalidade pesquisa-intervenção, realizada em uma escola pública, por meio da construção de um “Clube das Meninas”, onde foram realizadas Oficinas de Atividades, Dinâmicas e Projetos. Os resultados apontaram que as convenções sociais de gênero permeiam a relação estabelecida entre as meninas/mulheres, os seus corpos e seus cotidianos; exposição a situações de violência desde a infância e, quando jovens, de maneira mais evidente nos relacionamentos afetivos e/ou sexuais; fragilidades e rupturas de vínculos familiares e de amizade; de redes sociais de suporte consistentes e protetivas, em especial, o não reconhecimento da escola como componente dessa rede; elementos que atravessam a construção de seus projetos de vida. Discute-se que a terapia ocupacional social, por meio de suas tecnologias sociais, pode contribuir com o enfrentamento das problemáticas cotidianas resultantes da construção social relacionada ao ser menina/mulher na ampliação de vivências com vistas à autonomia e à emancipação, assim como no fortalecimento das redes sociais de suporte e no enfrentamento de situações de violência.

O poder dos espaços coletivos como estratégia contra a violação de direitos

Abstract This paper articulates the theoretical-methodological contributions of social occupational therapy and the experience of “Timbó em Movimento'' and “ResisTO” projects, which are part of the Rede Metuia nucleus belonging to the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), Brazil. It recognizes the importance of territorial practices and the social occupational therapy field for the strengthening and support of populations with diverse conditions of vulnerability. Articulation of what was observed in the Timbó em Movimento and ResisTO projects with concepts such as the intersectionality of social markers of difference, their implications for the right to the city and their effects in the daily life of youths. The article elaborates the implications of social markers in the daily life of the participants, as well as the potential of collective reference spaces and intersectoral articulation to confront violence. It is concluded that the spaces of belonging have great relevance for addressing conflicts in the social field, promoting the participation of people and the exercise of citizenship, rejecting the tendency to seek individual solutions to collective problems. Remains the challenge of taking these dialogues to the daily contexts in which violence takes place, incorporating actors that may also be involved in its reproduction.

Projetar a vida sendo menina: contribuições da terapia ocupacional social

Abstract The condition of women in our society has important implications in terms of hierarchy, asymmetry, discrimination, and inequality, limiting possibilities in the projection of life. Considering that being a young girl has implications that materialize in the experience of youth and in the dreams and projects that can be built at this stage, this research sought to understand dimensions of the lives of girls/women that are high school students that influence the projection of their lives, as well as the possible contributions of social occupational therapy in tackling this problem. For these objectives to be met, a participatory methodology was used, in the research-intervention modality, carried out in a public school, through the construction of a “Girls Club”, where Activities, Dynamics and Project Workshops were held. The results showed that social gender conventions permeate the relationship established between girls/women, their bodies and their daily lives; exposure to situations of violence since childhood and, when young, more evident in affective and/or sexual relationships; weaknesses and ruptures in family and friendship ties; consistent and protective support social networks, in particular, the non-recognition of the school as a component of this network; elements that permeate the construction of their life projects. It is discussed that social occupational therapy, through its social technologies, can contribute to confronting everyday problems resulting from the social construction related to being a girl/woman in expanding experiences with a view to autonomy and emancipation, as well as strengthening of support social networks and in confronting situations of violence.

Pesquisa IṢẸ́: contributions of afro-referenced Occupational Therapy in the processes of formation and restitution of black subjectivities

Resumo Historicamente, na diáspora brasileira, a formação, as práticas profissionais e a produção de conhecimento pouco têm priorizado epistemologias, saberes e fazeres ancestrais negros, negligenciando direitos, singularidades e necessidades inerentes às pessoas negras. Estatisticamente configurada como maioria no Brasil, esta população deve ser alvo de ações políticas, acadêmicas e práticas que contemplem seus singulares modos de ser e estar no mundo, revertendo lógicas universais. Este manuscrito tem como objetivo apresentar de que forma a Pesquisa Iṣẹ́: construção de abordagens clínicas, culturais e educacionais voltadas para a população negra, vinculada ao Lab-Iṣẹ́/UFRJ, tem contribuído nos processos de formação e de restituição das subjetividades negras no Brasil. Caracteriza-se com um método de pesquisa qualitativa de abordagem cartográfica. A proposta é realizar a cartografia das bases teóricas e conceituais negras nas produções científicas, clínicas, culturais e educacionais nos cursos de graduação do país. Para este artigo, o recorte se deu para o curso de graduação em Terapia Ocupacional da UFRJ, mais especificamente no Lab-Iṣẹ́, por ser o primeiro Laboratório de Terapia Ocupacional do Brasil dedicado à temática da população negra. Além do levantamento e análise de materiais teóricos e documentais, as narrativas da equipe do laboratório possibilitaram considerar como resultado o quanto a terapia ocupacional afrorreferenciada tem sido uma importante construção condutora dos processos de formação e subjetivação das pessoas negras envolvidas nas ações do Laboratório. Espera-se que este trabalho inspire o campo para a reformulação de suas práticas embranquecidas.

Training proposal for professionals of early childhood education: validated contributions of occupational therapy by Delphi technique

Resumo Atualmente, identificam-se importantes lacunas nas pesquisas em terapia ocupacional que enfoquem as diversas concepções e objetivos da educação infantil brasileira. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi apresentar o processo de validação de oficinas formativas voltadas para trabalhadoras da educação infantil, por meio do consenso de especialistas. Sete oficinas elaboradas participativamente deram origem ao quadro formativo e tais informações foram apresentadas detalhadamente aos especialistas em duas rodadas, conforme a técnica Delphi. Foram convidados 29 doutores experts em educação infantil, sendo que seis deles aceitaram participar, com formação em filosofia e letras, pedagogia e terapia ocupacional. Foi feita análise descritiva das respostas, a partir da média dos resultados encontrados. As oficinas alcançaram a 95%-100% de concordância. Foram sugeridos alguns enriquecimentos temáticos, como: o cotidiano escolar e pré-escolar; neoliberalismo e educação infantil; infâncias e suas múltiplas determinações; o espontaneísmo do brincar na educação infantil; cultura infantil e currículo. Os especialistas também sugeriram dinâmicas e bibliografias para as oficinas. O consenso denota consistência teórico-metodológica multidisciplinar, o que aumenta a complexidade da abordagem e as chances de generalização para além dos interesses locais da instituição que sediou esta experiência. O quadro contém temas-chave, focados nas problemáticas atuais da educação infantil, o que o torna passível de utilização por terapeutas ocupacionais em outros contextos.

Handwriting and typing: Occupational therapy practice when supporting adolescents with handwriting difficulties

Introduction While most children have developed effective handwriting by secondary school age, some have handwriting difficulties that hamper academic progress. Occupational therapists play a role in assessment and planning support, which may include introducing typing as an alternative. However, there is limited understanding regarding how decisions are made about recommending typing. This study explored the support provided to adolescents with handwriting difficulties by occupational therapists, and the contextual factors that influence their decision-making. Method Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 13 occupational therapists and analysed using thematic analysis. Findings Although there was shared practice underpinned by occupational therapy philosophy, there was also divergent practice due to different approaches. Roles and responsibilities, resources, and evidence and experience influenced occupational therapists’ practice. Understanding the adolescent’s motivation, the effect of handwriting difficulties on well-being and the need for a functional method to record schoolwork, was central to occupational therapists’ decision-making to recommend typing. Conclusion Strategies are needed to address the knowledge-practice gap, including evidence-based guidelines. Closer collaboration between occupational therapists and school staff could increase understanding of roles and highlight the unique occupational therapy contribution. Further research examining whether, when and how to introduce typing as an alternative to handwriting would support best practice.

The Opportunity for Occupational Therapy in Pediatric Disaster Recovery.

As natural disasters increase in frequency throughout the world, more children and families are exposed to disaster-related stress and trauma. Many children with disaster exposure face occupational disruption, in which common activities, roles, and relationships are damaged or destroyed. In this descriptive column, we explore the impact that natural disasters have on children, the contribution of pediatric occupational therapy to disaster management, and the opportunity for occupational therapy practitioners to engage in collaborative psychosocial and activity interventions during disaster recovery. Through trauma-informed occupational therapy, children in traditional and community-based services will benefit from assistance in restoring normalcy. With this column, we aim to contribute to the continued exploration of roles in pediatric disaster prevention and recovery and a call for qualitative and quantitative scholarship in this setting.

Service user perspectives on engagement in an occupational therapy-led pulmonary rehabilitation programme: A qualitative interview study

Introduction Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is an intervention for people with chronic respiratory conditions. There are questions about which components are important to its success, including the nature of occupational therapy involvement. The aim of this research was to explore the experiences of people who had attended an occupational therapy-led PR programme in the United Kingdom to determine the most important components. Method Semi-structured telephone interviews were conducted with service users who had experience of a community-based PR programme. Interviews were transcribed verbatim. Data were analysed using the framework analysis method with three researchers contributing to the analysis. Findings Nine people took part in the interviews, with a mean age of 72 years. Four themes were identified which were organised around the concepts of Doing, Being, Becoming Belonging. These were ‘Doing exercise and physical activity’, ‘being breathless’, ‘belonging as an individual within the group’ and ‘becoming a person who lives with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease’. Conclusion Doing physical activity, whilst coping with being breathless and belonging as an individual within a group can positively influence experiences and perceived outcomes during and after PR. These dimensions have the potential to shape occupation-focussed PR programmes and the occupational therapy contribution in this area of practice.

Occupational therapy and COVID-19: weaving mental health networks in the time of a pandemic

ABSTRACT This essay presents a theoretical-practical reflection about the contributions of occupational therapy in mental health in Brazil to face pandemics and their individual and collective effects. The objective is to identify and analyze the different dimensions of the professional action of occupational therapists who work in the mental health field in the COVID-19 context in Brazil. To do so, the interfaces between mental health and pandemics, the organisation of the Brazilian network of psychosocial care and the action possibilities in the Health Public System are briefly presented. Also, four dimensions of the professional practice of occupational therapy are presented: (1) Arts and health care, (2) Management actions, (3) Professional qualification actions, and (4) Social participation and communication. These dimensions must be considered given the pandemic context and the interrelation between them. It is hoped that the reflections on the dimensions presented will contribute to the construction of occupational therapeutic practices in psychosocial contexts, expanding the possibilities of a clinical practice inseparable from the actions of creation, citizenship and professional training.

Contribution of occupational therapy to the organization of the routine of women submitted to surgical treatment for breast cancer: a focus on Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL)

Resumo Introdução Mastectomia radical modificada e quadrantectomia são os principais tratamentos cirúrgicos para o câncer de mama; no entanto, podem ocasionar desordens físicas, mentais, sociais e ocupacionais à paciente e sua rede de apoio. Objetivo Analisar o efeito de orientações terapêuticas ocupacionais pré-cirúrgicas na rede de apoio de mulheres submetidas à cirurgia para tratamento de câncer de mama para organizar sua rotina pós-cirúrgica com foco nas Atividades Instrumentais de Vida Diária (AIVD). Método Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo, descritivo-exploratório e longitudinal realizado com 14 mulheres diagnosticadas com câncer de mama e indicadas à cirurgia eletiva, consistindo em orientações personalizadas a sua rede de apoio. Os dados foram coletados em dois momentos: pré- e pós-cirúrgico (após 30 dias) por meio de entrevista semiestruturada via videoconferência gravada e explorados por análise de conteúdo. Resultados As principais orientações fornecidas aos familiares incluíam estratégias para adaptação, graduação e delegação das atividades mais significativas para as participantes. Os achados da pesquisa foram divididos nas seguintes categorias: Família como rede de apoio e o processo de recuperação; Desafios do cuidado; Retorno ao desempenho das AIVD; Segurança da integridade física e emocional; e O terapeuta ocupacional como rede de apoio. As participantes destacaram a relevância do estudo e anseio por ampla cobertura assistencial da terapia ocupacional. Conclusão Os achados sugerem eficácia nas intervenções voltadas à organização da rotina de mulheres mastectomizadas a partir da instrumentalização da rede de apoio para o cuidado colaborativo.

IMPORTÂNCIA DA ASSISTÊNCIA DA TERAPIA OCUPACIONAL AO CUIDADOR DE CRIANÇAS COM CÂNCER EM CUIDADOS PALIATIVOS

Cancer has a great possibility of cure, however there is a group of patients who can reach the critical stage and no longer respond to conventional therapies, making it impossible to obtain a cure. In such cases, it will be necessary to provide other types of care in order to provide support, information and comfort to patients in the final stage of life and their families, which characterizes Palliative Care. In pediatrics, palliative care is centered on the child and the family. This study aimed to conduct a literature review on the intervention of Occupational Therapy with caregivers of children in Palliative Care, due to childhood and juvenile cancer. We searched for articles that corresponded to the descriptors that could support this study, however the search resulted in only two articles, a factor that made the study turn to a bibliographic search. Despite the reduced number of articles on occupational therapy in caring for children in palliative care, this study made it possible to present the importance of the attention and contribution of Occupational Therapy in caring for caregivers of children in the final stage of life.

Long-Term Follow-Up of a Lifestyle Intervention for Late-Midlife, Rural-Dwelling Latinos in Primary Care.

Importance: Rural-dwelling Latinos are an underresourced population in need of accessible and effective wellness programs.Objective: To evaluate patients’ long-term health-related outcomes after lifestyle intervention.Design: An uncontrolled pilot trial assessing change in health from pretreatment to long-term follow-up (12 mo after intervention completion, no contact) and from posttreatment to long-term follow-up.Setting: Rural, community-based primary care.Participants: Latino and Hispanic safety-net primary care patients, ages 50 to 64 yr.Intervention: A culturally tailored, 4-mo lifestyle intervention co-led by occupational therapy practitioners and Latino community health workers that features telehealth and in-home sessions covering topics such as healthy eating and navigating health care.Outcomes and Measures: Self-reported and physiological outcomes: symptom–well-being (primary), stress, sleep disturbance, social satisfaction, physical activity, patient activation, blood pressure, and weight. Exit interviews addressed health experiences and intervention impact on participants’ lives.Results: Participants (N = 27) demonstrated clinically significant pretreatment to long-term follow-up benefits in all symptom–well-being dimensions (Cohen’s d ≥ 0.8, p ≤ .004), with additional gains from posttreatment to long-term follow-up (d ≥ 0.4, p ≤ .05). Significant improvements from pre- to posttreatment in systolic blood pressure, stress, and social role and activity satisfaction were maintained at long-term follow-up. No changes were observed in weight, physical activity, or diastolic blood pressure. Participants described the intervention’s sustained positive effect on their wellness.Conclusions and Relevance: A lifestyle intervention led by occupational therapy practitioners and community health workers in a primary care context has potential to achieve long-term health benefits in rural-dwelling, late-midlife Latinos.What This Article Adds: This study reveals that rural, late-midlife Latinos showed long-lasting improvements in psychological and physical health after finishing a program that helped them make healthy lifestyle choices. This finding supports the unique contribution of occupational therapy in primary care settings.

Engagement of Occupational Therapy Organizations with Public Policy: A Qualitative Analysis.

Public policy is an important feature of occupational therapy practice. Occupational therapy organizations have a mandate to engage in policy processes to improve the conditions for clients, including the nature of care received. Describe the approaches that Canadian occupational therapy organizations use to engage with and impact public policy. This study used interpretive description methodology. Participants were recruited from Canadian occupational therapy professional organizations. Participants shared their experiences and perspectives on policy engagement through semi-structured interviews. Data was analyzed inductively. Engagement with policy involved reaching out (building relationships, educating practitioners about policy and occupational therapy contributions, and developing statements), and reaching in (consulting with occupational therapists and generating data informing policy). Occupational therapy organizations can share and coordinate approaches to impact public policy and advocate for both clients and the profession. Future research can expand this analysis in other contexts to generate a deeper understanding of engagement.

Quality of life: A universal or a disability specific concept?

Quality of life (QoL) is an important outcome of occupational therapy practice. Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts the individual throughout their lifespan and may substantially affect QoL. Measuring QoL of people with ASD presents a challenge and a debate whether to use general versus disability-specific adapted measures. This paper aims to (a) revisit the construct of QoL and discuss specific dilemmas pertaining to its measurement, and (b) discuss implications to the assessment of QoL in individuals with ASD while highlighting the potential contribution of occupational therapy to the development of measures. We suggest adding the domain of accessibility into QoL assessments, including, physical, sensory, social, and cognitive aspects, and to use disability-specific QoL measures. The paper presents a call for occupational therapists to be involved in developing specific ASD disability-oriented measures that consider the unique characteristics of the disorder and environmental supports.

Terapia ocupacional com puérperas em enfermaria obstétrica

Esta pesquisa objetivou conhecer a opinião de discentes da graduação em Terapia Ocupacional e de profissionais residentes terapeutas ocupacionais sobre a atuação da Terapia Ocupacional junto à puérperas em contexto hospitalar, a partir de suas vivências práticas em enfermaria obstétrica de um hospital universitário da Paraíba. Trata-se de estudo exploratório, descritivo e qualitativo, com 11 discentes de Terapia Ocupacional e 5 residentes terapeutas ocupacionais. Os dados foram coletados por meio de ficha de caracterização do perfil dos participantes e entrevista semiestruturada com o propósito de conhecer a percepção dos participantes sobre a atuação da Terapia Ocupacional com puérperas em enfermaria obstétrica. A partir da Análise de Conteúdo surgiram dois eixos temáticos: “Potencialidades da Terapia Ocupacional com puérperas em enfermaria obstétrica” e “Fragilidades e desafios da Terapia Ocupacional no campo”. Resultados revelam contribuições da Terapia Ocupacional para puérperas hospitalizadas ao minimizar impactos causados pelo contexto hospitalar, ajudando-as a ressignificar esse espaço e cotidiano, e a desempenharem o papel ocupacional da maternidade, além de apontarem para a necessidade da inserção de terapeutas ocupacionais e de publicações especí icas no campo
