Design patterns over SOLID and GRASP principles in real projects

Design patterns (models) are repeatable and reusable constructions and solutions for common situations and problems to improve the quality of software systems. SOLID and GRASP are sets of design principles that are used in object-oriented software development. In this work we consider these solutions and principles and compare their (possibly combined) usage in different cases.

Study of Learning Techniques for Effort Estimation in Object-Oriented Software Development

Software effort estimation (SEE) is helpful for project managers to decide the cost and effort needed to complete the project. The techniques used for estimating effort in conventional software development are not very useful for estimating effort in object-oriented projects because of their varying nature. The machine learning (ML) approaches are achieving greater recognition in SEE research because they can demonstrate the complex relationship between software effort and other attributes. So, there is a need for a systematic literature review (SLR) that can discuss the applicability of ML techniques for SEE in object-oriented projects, which is not available in the literature. This research aims to provide a specific review and analysis of various ML-based SEE works in the object-oriented software development (OOSD) paradigm based on different perspectives: type of learning technique used, type of performance measure used, performance level achieved, the dataset used, etc. Purposefully, we have chosen appropriate articles after applying selection and quality evaluation criteria. After investigation, we found that different ML techniques have been applied in these works, and their performance is better than the classical models. Hence, more efforts are needed to encourage the application of ML techniques for SEE in the OOSD paradigm. Also, most of the works have used small-sized datasets for effort estimation in OOSD, due to which their model's performance cannot be generalized. So, the researchers should collect more large-sized datasets working in line with the software organizations.

IMPLEMENTASI METODE RAPID APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT PADA PENGEMBANGAN SISTEM KELOLA DATA KALIBRASI DI PERCETAKAN GRAMEDIA

The Rapid Application Development (RAD) model is an object-oriented software development model that aims to shorten information system development time. Calibration is an activity of determining the correctness value and checking and adjusting the accuracy of measuring instruments with national standards and/or international standards. As a company engaged in the printing sector, PT Gramedia uses a variety of measuring instruments that need to maintain their level of accuracy, so a calibration process needs to be carried out regularly. The General Affairs (GA) section is responsible for carrying out this calibration activity with the help of outside vendors. Currently, the administrative process for calibration activities is still carried out conventionally, causing various problems that can result in disruptions to production process activities and a decrease in the quality of the printed products produced. The purpose of this research is to develop a web-based information system by applying the RAD development model to speed up the process and the application of the MVC method using the Codeigniter framework in the application coding process. From the test results using the black box method, the resulting calibration administration system can run well in accordance with user expectations.

Optimization design of electronic commerce system based on the basic principles of software engineering

Based on the basic principles of software engineering, this paper optimizes the design of e-commerce system from the aspects of demand analysis, system design, coding, implementation, testing and maintenance. Specifically, this paper adopts the object-oriented software development method, using the UML modeling tools to model the system, adopted the MVC architecture mode to realize the stratification of the system, using the front-end technology such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript to realize the user interface design of the system, combined with the back-end technology such as Java, JSP, the Servlet system. Through the system test and the use of code quality control tools, the system is accepted, and the maintenance of the system is planned and designed. Finally, this paper realizes an easy-to-use, stable, safe and efficient e-commerce system.

Supporting change management of UML class diagrams

Class diagram is an important model in object-oriented software development. A class diagram specifies the structure of a system with the system's classes, classes’ attributes and methods, and relations among classes. Sometimes class diagrams should be modified in accordance with requirements changes or correction of errors. In such a modification, careless mistakes may lead to include another error in the diagram. In this paper, we propose a method of visualization of the difference between original class diagram and modified one by emphasizing the difference in order to avoid newly produced errors. Aplikasi Pengelolaan Data Penduduk di Kantor RW Berbasis Web

The RW17 Citaliktik Soreang office is one of the Residents' Associations having its address at Kp. Citaliktik Soreang Islamic Boarding School with various kinds of resident activities. Currently the population data collection at the Citaliktik RW17 Office is to collect citizen data in a conventional manner according to its category. With this, it is necessary to implement an information system, namely the Population Data Collection Application which is implemented through the website. By utilizing a computer or laptop device, the system will be developed using object-oriented software development and programming (OOAD) methods. With the aim of being able to assist the RW17 Citaliktik Soreang Office in improving the existing system with the hope that the processing and presentation of population data which is still conventional can make it easier to make this population data collection application. The result of making the application is a Population Data Collection Application at the RW17 Citaliktik Soreang Office.

Design and Development E-Mading System For Information Students

This study aims to facilitate the provision of information and reduce the amount of paper use in the Department of Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University. With the large amount of paper used to provide information on conventional e-mading, it causes too much paper to be wasted and not too effective in providing information. With the large amount of paper wasted also causes inefficient time. Because too much information and announcements reported to the Electronics Engineering Department cannot be managed by admin in the Department of Eletronics, Faculty of Engineering, Padang State University. Therefore, for now there is a need for a digital madding to manage information and reduce the amount of paper usage. There are 2 methods used in this study are Data Collection Methods and System Development Methods. This Data Collection Method uses interview and observation techniques, while the System Development Method uses USDP. In this study using the USDP method, where this method can do an object-oriented software development, design and analysis of software design using the UML approach (Unifed Modeling Language)

Strategy Design Pattern Applied on a Mobile App Building

This paper provides the importance and application of design patterns in software engineering, particularly focusing on the Strategy Design Pattern. It outlines how design patterns offer efficient, flexible, and reusable solutions to common problems in object-oriented software development. The paper presents a case study of Strategy Design Pattern’s application in a mobile app builder, emphasizing its role in creating adaptable and maintainable software architecture. Additionally incorporates commentary on the SOLID Open and Close principle, explaining how it allows software entities to be extendable without modifying existing code, thus enhancing the scalability and robustness of the application. The OC principle integration with the Strategy Design Pattern demonstrates its practicality in promoting flexible and stable software development.

Looking at the higher learning institutions, there is no question that the current methods for paying student fees are inefficient, inconvenient, and wasteful of time. In addition, the rise in the number of students studying in higher learning institutions has led to long frustrating queues and overcrowding in most financial institutions during payment of student fees. This paper sought to design and implement a secure block chain-based payment system for higher learning institutions in developing countries. Students are to use the proposed payment system to pay tuition fees and other student fees to their respective higher educational institution. In addition, students are to use the proposed payment to pay for goods and services provided by the institution and other merchants in the institution’s premises. In this study, object oriented software development methodology was used to implement the proposed payment system. The proposed system consists of a mobile e-wallet, RESTful API, and blockchain as the core component of the API.

Non-functionality analysis and verification based on Aspect-Z

The non-functional requirements of the software system usually cross the whole system, and the object-oriented software development method can lead to the entanglement and dispersion of the code. ASECT-Z proposed a formal method for non-functional requirements, it is the formal specification for the extension of Z language. The language based on set theory and mathematical logic, with strict logic, and the formal specification of reasoning. In this paper, we describe a library management system based on Aspect-Z, and then give a formal proof of the formal specification for formal verification.

The rapid development of the computer world that brings every individual or group of people will use information and communication technology in every activity. Likewise in the world of education, including libraries that utilize information and communication technology in managing the process of borrowing and returning library books. The benefits of making a web-based library information system include being able to save time where there is no need for manual recording, making it easier to find book data or library members, making it easier in making book loan reports and other reports and other benefits. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D). The making of software is done by a waterfall model consisting of: (1) needs analysis, (2) design, (3) implementation, and (4) testing. Then UML visual modeling is used which is the standardization of modeling language for object-oriented software development. The expected results of this study produce a web-based library information system using the YII Framework with MVC (Model View Controller) method in SMK Plus Pratama Adi Bandung that can solve existing problems. The formulation of the problem of this research is how to build a library information system in SMK Plus Pratama Adi Bandung so that it can present accurate and efficient information. The purpose of this research is to produce a library information system.

A Forensic Analysis Visualization Tool for Mobile Instant Messaging Apps

In this study, we demonstrate the role of visualization to facilitate forensic analysis goal in interpreting metadata of evidence of interest to answer who, what, why, when, where, and how an incident occurred. Two mobile Instant Messaging (IM) applications (i.e. WhatsApp and Line) were deployed as a case study. Subsequently, a tool – W*W Visualizer – was designed and developed with the aims to analyze and visualize the connection of evidence metadata, text frequency and word count, and display report of analysis activities. The tool is developed by adopting Object-Oriented Software Development Model with Visual Studio platform and C# language were used to develop the system. Our findings show that W*W Visualizer could transform the data of the chat database into a visual form, for example graph, chart and word cloud. The tool also allows the user to perform search feature such as searching based on keyword and timestamp from the IM chat history. It is expected that outcomes from this study would significantly influence digital forensics practitioners in analyzing and interpreting evidence data, and judicial authorities in understanding the presentation of evidence.

Design of an integrated monitoring system based on object-oriented

The integrated monitoring system is a security system that integrates information, storage, transfer and transportation management. This paper takes the security and defense integrated monitoring system of a certain military warehouse area as the background. Aiming at its complexity and diversity, in order to enhance the security and robustness of the integrated monitoring system, this paper adopts object-oriented software development technology. Taking the Rational Unified Process (RUP) as the software development method, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) as the main analysis and design description language, and the requirements analysis and system design of the integrated monitoring system are carried out. This system is based on the C/S structure model to realize the development and deployment of the integrated monitoring system, uses the database design tool PowerDesign to design the database, and uses the ASP.NET development tool realizes the functional modules. In order to achieve a clear security system framework, traditional use case diagrams, data flow diagrams, ER diagrams and other description tools are used as a supplement to system requirements analysis and design.

Kenyalang’s Kitchen is an Android-based recipe planning application to promote Sarawak’s traditional recipe. The application will assist user in the preparation of customary cuisine from various ethnicities in Sarawak. The user is able to choose the recipe based on the ingredients selected. Besides that, the application provides the ‘Xprez List’ that consists of recipe list that can be prepared in a minimum time. This application offers unique features such as‘Food Famous’ which will list all the well-known cuisine from different ethnicities in Sarawak. Another uniqueness of this application is ‘Glossary’ to help the users to understand some of the unfamiliar terms. The recipe recommender is developed by using Object Oriented Software Development methodology. The software used is Android Studio in Java programming language. In short, the application aims to guide the users to prepare the Sarawak’s traditional recipe.
