Two new species of Oribatella (Acari, Oribatida, Oribatellidae) from Guatemala

ABSTRACT Two new species of oribatid mites of the genus Oribatella (Oribatida, Oribatellidae)—O. paradechambrieri sp. nov. and O. parastrinatii sp. nov.—are described, based on adults collected from rainforest litter in Guatemala. Oribatella paradechambrieri sp. nov. is similar to O. dechambrieri but differs by the smaller body size, the length of the teeth of the lamellae, the relative length of the free distal and fixed mediobasal parts of the lamella, the size of the trapezoid region in basal part of the prodorsum, and the length of the interlamellar seta. Oribatella parastrinatii sp. nov. is similar to O. strinatii but differs by the smaller body size, the morphology of the rostrum, the morphology of the tutorial cusp, the presence of large dense foveolae in the centrodorsal part of the notogaster and between the genital and anal apertures, and dense short transverse ridges on the medioposterior part of the notogaster, and the number of genital setae. Oribatella dechambrieri is the first record of the species for Guatemala. New Suctobelbidae (Acari, Oribatida) from Mexico

ABSTRACT Two new suctobelbid mite species (Oribatida, Suctobelbidae), Suctobelbella (Flagrosuctobelba) crassisetosa sp. nov. and Suctobelbila tetrasetosa sp. nov. are described based on adults collected from leaf litter in secondary semi-evergreen tropical forest in Mexico. Suctobelbella (F.) crassisetosa sp. nov. is similar to S. (F.) muronokiensis and S. (F.) plumosa in having thick notogastral setae and numerous lateral teeth on the rostrum, but differs from both by the number of genital setae, and the morphology and length of some notogastral setae. Suctobelbila tetrasetosa sp. nov. is similar to S-bila dentata in having one pair of notogastral tubercles, three pairs of simple lateral teeth on the rostrum and short notogastral setae, but differs from the later by the number of genital setae and the presence of long notogastral cristae.

First record of the genus Lamellarea (Acari, Oribatida, Lamellareidae) from the Neotropical region

A new species of Lamellarea (Oribatida, Lamellareidae) is described from hick twigs of southern live oak in Florida, U.S.A. (part of the Neotropical region). Lamellarea americana sp. nov. differs from most similar species, Lamellarea digitata and L. forceps by the ventrally inserted lamellar setae, the number of genital setae, the length of interlamellar setae, and the body size. Remarks on generic diagnosis and distribution of Lamellarea are presented.

Oribatid mites of the superfamily Trizetoidea Ewing, 1917 (Acari, Oribatida) from Peru

Two new species of the oribatid mite superfamily Trizetoidea (Acari, Oribatida) are described from Peru. Rhynchoribates (Rhynchoribatodes) rioyuyapichisensis Ermilov, sp. n. differs from the other species of the subgenus by the long flagelliform notogastral setae. Rhynchoppia puertoincaensis Ermilov, sp. n. is morphologically similar to R. capillata (Balogh, 1963), but differs by the shape and in a greater number of rostral teeth, in the number and a smaller length of notogastral setae, and in the number of genital setae. The genus Rhynchoppia (Balogh 1968) is recorded from the Neotropical Region for the first time, while Rhynchoribates (Rhynchoribatodes) brasiliensis Woas 1986 is new to the fauna of Peru.

A new species of the genus Rhinoppia (Acari, Oribatida, Oppiidae) from Turkey

A new species of oribatid mite of the family Oppiidae, Rhinoppia (Rhinoppia) alidagiensis n. sp. is described from soil and litter in Kayseri Province, Turkey. The new species differs from the other species of Rhinoppia (Rhinoppia) by the shape of rostrum, sensillus, body dimensions and number of genital setae.

Luissubiasia microporosa gen. nov., sp. nov. (Acari, Oribatida, Caloppiidae) from Cuba

ABSTRACTThe oribatid mite family Caloppiidae is recorded for the first time in Cuba. A new genus and species of caloppiids, Luissubiasia gen. nov. and Luissubiasia microporosa sp. nov. (type species), are described. The new genus is distinguishable from other genera of Caloppiidae by the body sculpture, morphology of notogastral setae, localization of some notogastral porose areas, number of genital setae and localization of epimeral sejugal border.

Three new species of the subgenus Neoribates (Neoribates) (Acari, Oribatida, Parakalummidae) from Nepal.

Three new parakalummid mites of the subgenus Neoribates (Neoribates), N. (N.) parabulanovae sp. n., N. (N.) paramacrosacculatus sp. n. and N. (N.) pararotundus sp. n., are described from Nepalese soils. Neoribates (Neoribates) parabulanovae sp. n. is morphologically most similar to N. (N.) bulanovae Grishina, 2009, N. (N.) rotundus Aoki, 1982 and N. (N.) setiger Balogh & Mahunka, 1978, however, it differs from N. (N.) bulanovae by the body length, body and leg integument, morphology of bothridial setae, absence of aggenital setae, length of interlamellar setae and location of adanal setae ad3; from N. (N.) rotundus by the body size, body integument, morphology of bothridial setae and length of interlamellar setae; from N. (N.) setiger by the body size, number of genital setae and absence of aggenital setae. Neoribates (Neoribates) paramacrosacculatus sp. n. is morphologically most similar to N. (N.) macrosacculatus Aoki, 1966, however, it differs from the latter by the body size, body integument, length and morphology of bothridial setae, number of genital setae, absence of lamellar setae and length of interlamellar setae. Neoribates (Neoribates) pararotundus sp. n. is morphologically most similar to N. (N.) rotundus, however, it differs from the latter by the number of notogastral setal alveoli, body integument and length of interlamellar setae.

New species of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) of the genera Belbodamaeus (Damaeidae), Malaconothrus (Malaconothridae) and Nothrus (Nothridae) from India

Three new oribatid mite species, Belbodamaeus indicus sp. n. (Damaeidae), Malaconothrus macrofoveolatus sp. n. (Malaconothridae) and Nothrus phylliformis sp. n. (Nothridae), are described from Indian soils. Belbodamaeus indicus sp. n. is clearly distinguishable from all species of Belbodamaeus by the absence of discidia, very long sensilli and morphology of parastigmatic tubercles Sa. Malaconothrus macrofoveolatus sp. n. is very similar morphologically to Malaconothrus yinae Yamamoto, Aoki, Wang & Hu, 1993 from China, however it differs from the latter by the morphology of notogastral and genital setae, size of body foveolae, epimeral formula, and number of genital setae. Nothrus phylliformis sp. n. is very similar morphologically to Nothrus mystax Mahunka, 1986 from Tanzania, however it differs from the latter by the smaller body size, length of interlamellar setae and the position of notogastral setae d1. An identification key to known species of Belbodamaeus is presented.

A New Subgenus and Three New Species of Oribatid Mites of the Family Scheloribatidae (Acari: Oribatida) from Ecuador

A new oribatid mite subgenus, Perscheloribates (Ecuadoribates) subgen. nov., and three new species, Perscheloribates (Ecuadoribates) pentasacculus sp. nov., Fissurobates neotropicus sp. nov. and Mucrobates microsetosus sp. nov., of the family Scheloribatidae are described from Ecuador. The new subgenus differs from Perscheloribates (Perscheloribates) by the number of notogastral sacculi and number of genital setae. Fissurobates and Mucrobates are recorded for the first time in Ecuador. The morphology of gnathosoma and legs are presented for the first time for any member of Fissurobates and Mucrobates.

Two new species of oribatid mites (Acari: Oribatida) from Ecuador

Abstract Two new oribatid mite species, Hermannobates bifurcatus sp. nov. (Hermanniellidae) and Xenillus brevisetosus sp. nov. (Liacaridae), are described from Ecuador. Hermannobates bifurcatus sp. nov. is similar to Hermannobates monstruosus Hammer in having the combination of a tuberculate prodorsum, foveolate notogaster, and long setiform prodorsal and exuvial notogastral setae and sensilli. However it clearly differs from the latter by having some bifurcate epimeral setae, the surface of the prodorsum, and the lengths of some notogastral setae. Xenillus brevisetosus sp. nov. is similar to Xenillus davisorum J. & P. Balogh in having the combination of the same body surface sculpture and the morphology of the lamellar complex, sensilli, and prodorsal and notogastral setae. However it clearly differs from the latter by the length of the lamellar cusps, interlamellar setae and notogastral setae h1, and number of genital setae. An identification key to Ecuadorian species of Xenillus is presented.

The Galumnoid fauna (Acari: Oribatida) of Cat Tien National Park (Southern Vietnam) with description of two new species

ABSTRACT We have registered 11 species, five genera, two families, of Galumnoidea in Cat Tien National Park (southern Vietnam). Genera Leptogalumna Balogh, 1960 and Neogalumna Hammer, 1970 are the first records for Vietnam. Two new species Pergalumna indistincta n. sp. and Galumna pseudokhoii n. sp. are described from dark loamy soil of Lagerstroemia forest. P. indistincta n. sp. is similar in notogastral indistinct areae porosae, punctate body surfaces, morphology of prodorsal setae, and incomplete dorsosejugal suture only to Pergalumna amorpha Mahunka, 2008 from Thailand, but differs by body size, morphology of notogastral areae porosae, and development of adanal setae ad 2. G. pseudokhoii n. sp. is very similar in location and morphology of notogastral areae porosae, morphology of rostral, lamellar, and interlamellar setae; location of lamellar lines; and incomplete dorsosejugal suture to Galumna khoii Mahunka, 1989 from Vietnam, but differs by body size, morphology of sensilli, and number of genital setae on anterior parts of genital plates.

Viracochiella orientalis, a new species of oribatid mites (Acariformes, Oribatida) of the family Ceratozetidae from Sakhalin

A new species, Viracochiella orientalis sp. n., from the southern part of Sakhalin is described. The species differs in the shape of cuspises with strong medial teeth and in the absence of translamellae. The smooth notogaster, shorter interlamellar and genital setae, and some other characters distinguish this species from V. tuberculata. This species differs from V. sergienkoae in the number of genital setae (V. sergienkoae has five pairs), shorter interlamellar setae, smooth trichobothria, fine pore areas without borders of sclerotization, and thin hysterosomal setae.

A new oribatid mite of the genus <i>Peloribates</i> Berlese, 1908 (Acari, Oribatida, Haplozetidae) from Mongolia

In the course of study on the species diversity and ecology of oribatid mites of Mongolia one interesting species belonging to the genus Peloribates was found and is described here as new to science. The new species, Peloribates angulatus differs from the closely related species by the relatively long and narrow head of sensillus, the different number of genital setae; the presence of distinct angular projection on the lateral margins of ventral plate, the presence of network consisting numerous striations and muscle sigillae on the anterolateral part of notogaster, the different arrangement of notogastral setae and the larger body size.

AbstractAdults of Camisia labradorica, n. sp., from Labrador are described. They are closely similar to those of C. lapponica (Trägårdh, 1910), but are distinguished by the shape of notogastral setae and number of genital setae.
