This study investigated the effectiveness of Value Chain Management in enhancing the competitiveness of FPOs within the agricultural sector of Tamil Nadu, with a focus on millets and oilseeds. The research aimed to analyze factors influencing FPOs' competitive advantage, map the agricultural value chain and identify underlying factors affecting successful VCM implementation. Porter's Diamond Model was employed to analyze competitive advantage, while Factor Score Regression (FSR) was used to identify factors influencing VCM implementation. The study revealed the competitive advantages of the North-Western and North-Eastern agroclimatic zones, driven by favourable factor conditions, robust demand, supportive industries and strategic firm strategies, particularly exemplified by FPOs. FSR analysis validated the importance of factors such as product diversification, marketing, quality assurance, financial management, partnerships, infrastructure, leadership and farmer education in driving VCM for FPO sustainability. These findings provided valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders to enhance competitiveness, sustainability and economic growth in Tamil Nadu's agricultural landscape.
