Public Interest Over Private Gain: A Critical Examination of the Ethical Perspective in the Sri Lankan Legal Profession

The legal profession is a pillar of societal order, promoting justice and fairness. The objective of this research is to look into the fundamental concepts that characterize the legal profession as a profession primarily dedicated to societal growth rather than private gain. To do that, this paper tries to evaluate frameworks of ethics and present practices of the Legal profession in Sri Lanka using qualitative analysis and critical examination, focusing on the overall dedication to serving public interest. The research identifies a gap in understanding how closely legal practitioners in Sri Lanka emphasize ethical standards in practice. While current literature and frameworks stress upon ethical norms, there is little evidence of how these principles are prioritized above financial rewards in this sector. This research highlights that Attorneys can achieve success in their noble profession by upholding professional ethics, ensuring that the ultimate objective of the legal profession is to administer justice to the rightful individual rather than solely focusing on financial gain.

Single Regulator dalam Multi Bar Organisasi Advokat Untuk Masa Depan Advokat yang Independent

Several multi-interpretive provisions in the Advocate Law are considered to violate the constitutional rights of advocates to carry out their profession. Over the years, this has resulted in quarrels and disputes between advocates regarding organizational matters, this of course has an impact on advocates, new advocates and also people seeking justice. The research method used in this research is the normative juridical method. This research is included in descriptive analysis research, aiming to describe carefully the single bar organization, history, debates, rules of advocates. The single bar system must be interpreted as an organization that accommodates all advocates, starting from education, oaths, codes of ethics and enforcement of codes of ethics. advocates so that there are clear standards to guarantee that lawyers are qualified and recognized by the state to be able to proceed in court. Judging from the institutional perspective of advocate organizations at the present time, it can be said that they are still not organized. The main factor is the lack of clear standardization in carrying out their authority as an advocate. With government intervention in efforts to form a single forum for advocate organizations as mandated by the Advocate Law, this will be realized. The government or state can do this because it has the power to form legal products, namely laws, including the Law on Advocates. The ideal concept in this research shows that the institution of a multi-bar advocate organization with a single regulator can restore the dignity of advocacy as a noble profession or nobile officiating.

Analysis of the Principle of Notary Independence in Notarial Deed Making in Review of the Notary Position Law and the Notary Professional Code of Ethics

The position of notary is an office of trust and is a noble profession (officum nobile), in carrying out the duties of his office the notary is regulated by Law No. 30 of 2004 concerning the office of notary which has been amended by Law No. 2 of 2014 concerning the Office of Notary and also regulated in the Code of Ethics for the Notary Profession. in carrying out the duties of a notary has obligations and authorities, one of which is the obligation to be independent. In this study aims to analyze how the ideal regulation so that the principle of notary independence in making deeds can be carried out properly. this research is a notmative legal research where the author approaches the problem by studying the provisions of the applicable law and studying the views and doctrines in legal science relating to the obligation of notaries to act independently in carrying out their job duties. The Notary Position Law has actually provided a legal framework to support the independence of notaries in carrying out their duties. However, the application of this principle of independence in daily practice may depend on how the notary complies with the law and professional ethics and there is still a legal gap where there is no specific regulation relating to the independence or impartiality of notaries. The definition of notary independence in the Notary Law and the notary code of ethics is very limited, with no classification regarding the form of the law, as with the independence of judges who have a clearer classification, it would be better if the code of ethics of the notary profession explains in more detail regarding the independence of notaries in terms of structural, functional, financial, and independence in carrying out the duties of the office of notary.

Indonesia is known to be rich in culture, considering the diversity of tribes in this archipelagic country. Starting from dances that discuss the story of the struggle of the royal army, romance, to activities that people engage in every day such as farming. Hearing the name, perhaps many people can already guess that this dance tells about farming activities. The word "tani" itself is taken from the word farming. , a noble profession that produces basic materials that can be consumed by people on a daily basis. This dance was created and developed in the Java area, especially Madura in Bangkalan district. The artists in Bangkalan are inspired by agricultural activities which many people engage in as their main livelihood. In every For traditional dances, props are needed that can support the performance. The existence of props can more clearly describe what a dance wants to convey, as is the case with the Tani dance. In order to describe farming activities more realistically, one of the properties needed is caping. Caping is a cone- shaped hat that farmers wear when working. Caping is made from bamboo, with the function of protecting the head while working because it is often exposed to the heat of the sun. It is not surprising that when they see caping, many people associate it with traditional Indonesian society. Caping has a conical shape at the top, forming a mountain and is a symbol of the source of life for living creatures.

IJCM_411A: Motivational factors associated with the choosing medicine as a profession among first year students

Background: Students enter the medical study with internally generated motives like genuine interest (intrinsic motivation) and/or externally generated motives like parental pressure or desire for status or prestige. Due to limited information available on the motivational factors to take up medicine among Indian students, this study was carried out to determine motivations of first-year medical students’ towards a medical career. Methodology: This cross-sectional study was carried out among all 250 first year medical students of Kasturba Medical College (Manipal University), Mangalore in February 2015. Data collection was done using a pre-tested semi structured questionnaire, consisting of 16 questions about demographic and academic characteristics; motivational factors to study medicine; and the role of career guidance in choice of study Data were analysed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version 11.5. Results: Of 250 students, 246 (98.4%) submitted completed questionnaires. The majority of the students (72%) were self-motivated for choosing medicine as a career; 64.2% chose medicine because it is a humane and noble profession; 50.4% for respect and prestige it provides; 36.6% were inspired by the family; 27.2% because of the non-requirement to study Mathematics and Physics and 14.6% for financial security. Also, 16.3% students had parents in the medical profession; Fifty-seven students (55%) got admission after > or = 2 attempts; 46% decided on a medical career before class ten. Overall, 13% had sought career counselling. More than half of the students had accurate knowledge about the curriculum, course duration, examinations, and post graduate training. Conclusion: Nobility of the profession, prestige, and inspiration from family members were the predominant motivating factors. Determining the reasons for choosing medicine has important implications for the selection and training of students as well as for their future job satisfaction.

APPLICATION OF VETERINARY ETHICS IN INDONESIA

This article was written to find out the application of veterinary ethics in the work environment in Indonesia. The method used is the method of literature. In Indonesia, the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI) has agreed that what is used as a guideline is the Indonesian Veterinary Professional Code of Ethics. This code of ethics provides guidelines for veterinarians in carrying out their practice according to professional and moral standards. The application of veterinary ethics in veterinary practice in Indonesia involves various aspects that need attention, namely animal welfare, transparency and communication, independence and avoiding conflict, and professional development and continuing education. The challenges faced by veterinarians include malpractice, violations of the code of ethics, zoonotic disease issues, limited facilities and infrastructure, and the obligation to always maintain the good name of veterinarians as a noble profession. The application of veterinary ethics is a strong foundation in the professional development of veterinarians in Indonesia. While some barriers may be encountered, continued efforts to improve education, access to resources, and support from relevant institutions and stakeholders can help overcome these obstacles. In addition, Indonesian veterinarians must not only improve their hard skills, but also improve their soft skills, in order to become successful and moral veterinarians.

Challenges Facing Secondary School Teachers in Achieving Effective Job Performance: A Case Study of Meru District Council, Arusha Region

This study examines the challenges facing secondary school teachers in executing their duties for effective job performance through a qualitative case study design. The study participants were secondary school teachers, heads of schools, and the District Education Officer. A total of 111 respondents were involved, including 100 teachers, 10 heads of schools, and 1 District Education Officer. In collecting data, interview and focus group discussion (FGD) methods of data collection were used for the purpose of this study. The data were analyzed through content and thematic analysis. The study found teachers are burdened with several challenges, including but not limited to an unfriendly working environment, a shortage of teaching and learning materials, low achievement of students in science subjects, poor cooperation between parents and teachers, poor cooperation accorded by employers, a lack of overtime and/or housing allowances, and political influences on teaching and learning processes. The study concluded that teaching, apart from being a noble profession that prepares not only leaders but also champions of various fields, has grown to be forgotten. Thus, it is recommended that there are significant needs to shift priorities and attention towards the teaching profession. One key aspect highlighted is the need for better compensation and entitlements for teachers, including salaries, subsistence allowances, extra-time allowances, and access to teaching and learning materials. Moreover, addressing these challenges requires comprehensive support and tailored interventions from educational institutions, policymakers, and other stakeholders in the education sector.

Medicine has been long considered a noble profession. Nobility in medicine is not obsolete; the selflessness, courage, self-sacrifice, and altruism on gallant display in the response to COVID-19 reassure that at its core, this ethic of egalitarian service remains intact and deeply established in the DNA of physicians worldwide.1 However, a rising rate of reported sexual misconduct in the UK NHS is putting both vulnerable patients and learners at risk of long-term physical and mental harm.2 Sexual misconduct is not only devastating for the victims, but by making the workplace unsafe for women, perpetrators make the workplace unsafe for patients.

A Study on the Prevalence of Teacher Freezing among Secondary School Teachers: A Mixed Method Approach

Teaching is widely recognized as a noble profession that plays an important role in social and national progress. Teachers are mentors and solution-seekers who must adapt to changing societal demands and the unique needs of the students. As key figures in implementing interventions, innovations, and policies, teachers hold immense responsibility in driving educational reforms forward. This research work intends to investigate the prevalence of teacher freezing among secondary school teachers in Kashmir. Using Mixed Methods Research design, the study employed the Teacher Freezing Scale by Taj (2011) to collect quantitative data from 360 teachers from secondary schools. The qualitative data from school administrators was collected using an ‘Opinionnaire’. The study’s findings indicate a predominant moderate level of teacher freezing among respondents, with no significant gender-based differences observed. Thematic analysis of qualitative data revealed numerous strategies suggested by heads of schools for overcoming teacher freezing.

Unmasking Incivility in Nursing: The Hidden Cost to Patient Care

Nursing is a respected and noble profession. Nurses are considered compassionate, skillful, and highly ethical. Once again for the 21st consecutive year, nurses are ranked the most trusted profession. Despite the positive accolades that the nursing profession has received over the years, there is pervasive plague which diminishes the reputation of the profession; incivility. Incivility in the nursing profession is associated with decreased job satisfaction, staff shortages, and alterations in physical well-being and mental anguish. Nursing incivility has a negative impact on healthcare organizations. The results can be seen in decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, increased turnover, and overall job dissatisfaction. These can cause strains on other staff and healthcare administration. Besides issues with morale and employee satisfaction, there are real financial costs associated with lost productivity and employee turnover. Uncivil actions and behaviors among nurses are delivered in many different forms from subtle to very aggressive and overt. While the literature is abundant with evidence to substantiate the existence of incivility in the nursing profession, it is imperative to raise awareness to the current culture and climate in nursing as it poses great risk to patient safety. A hostile work environment fractures interpersonal relationships thus contributing to the breakdown of essential communication methods needed to maintain safe delivery of care. Attempting to deliver nursing care in an environment where there is intimidation, violence, and bullying increases the risk of nurses making errors such as with medication administration. Over 100,000 reports of medication errors a year are reported and the estimated cost of these errors is $42 billion annually. The repercussions associated with incivility are massive as the effects are felt on an individual, the profession, health care agencies, nursing academia, and consumer (the patient.

Out-of-Field Teachers’ Professional Resilience: A Grounded Study

This qualitative inquiry aimed to determine the coping strategies and bridge the lack of comprehensive understanding of the processes and factors contributing to out-of-field teachers' professional resilience. The in-depth interviews of the 12 participants generated emergent themes and central categories that revealed the OFT's coping strategies. The theory developed from the extensive data collected and examined showed the profound perception of how out-of-field teachers succeed in the teaching profession. A targeted professional development program for out-of-field teachers focusing on content and pedagogical strategies can be designed using the theory generated as a foundation. Through this research, other researchers may explore the development and implementation of targeted professional development programs and support systems that specifically address the unique challenges faced by out-of-field teachers and investigate the long-term impact of resilience-building strategies on teachers’ teaching effectiveness and career satisfaction. By providing teachers with the necessary tools to effectively teach the subject, these specially tailored programs aid in closing the knowledge gap and help OFTs thrive in this noble profession.

Innovative Methods of Teaching Urdu Language in Digital Era

Teaching is one of the challenging professions in the era of advanced technology. It is not a cup of tea to everyone. Especially to untrained teachers though they are working in the field of teaching. Adaption of suitable method is also one of the challenges in the profession. It is called as a noble profession. According to a model teacher Sri Sarve Pally Radha Krishnan, “Teacher is the person before whom the entire universe bows”. In order to teach effectively, language is one of the important tool for students for all disciplines. Teaching of Urdu is a challenging task in the era of technological advancement. Urdu is an attractive and sweet language for most of the speakers. Difference innovative methods can be used for creating interest among the teachers and learners such as lecture method, story telling method, interactive method, discussion method, problem solving method. Krashen (1982 : 125) discusses several approaches or what he calls “the most widely used methods” to language teaching, with the questions – on each approach to classroom teaching: what extent it satisfies the requirements for optimal input”, and “what extent it puts learning in its proper place”. These approaches have positively advanced the course of language teaching and learning so much so that there is the need to have more insight on the approaches and what contribution they can still make to our contemporary language study. The present paper focuses and discusses on various innovative methods of teaching Urdu language with reference to digital advancements.

A critical analysis of newspaper accounts of violence against doctors in India

This paper presents a critical analysis of newspaper articles (N = 60) published in a leading vernacular newspaper about violence against doctors in India. Adopting a theoretical perspective that considers ‘news as a cultural practice,’ a qualitative content analysis was conducted to examine how the phenomenon is framed and presented in the news, i.e., what is problematized, what causal links are drawn or hinted at, what moral stance is taken or alluded to, and what solutions are proffered and why, to arrive at a nuanced understanding of various aspects of this social phenomenon. Three overlapping key themes emerged from the analysis, namely the narrative of victimization, the changing doctor-patient relationship, and the crisis facing the ‘noble profession’ of medicine. It reveals how the media shapes public opinion and attitudes towards the state of the medical profession while in turn, reflecting existing opinions, attitudes, and cultural values; the analysis also reveals missing perspectives such as the voices of the patients and the public. We highlight how the findings are not merely the dominant ways in which the rise in incidents of violence against doctors is reported and is understood in society, but how media might have shaped the popular discourse around the issue and why. We reflect on what the reportage says about the state of the medical profession and its standing in society in India.

Perception of Nursing Students towards their Profession in Morang District

Background:Nursing is indeed considered a noble and essential profession in society because of the core value it promotes in its practice-which is the care of life. Nursing student’s perception towards the image of the nursing profession has an apparent impact on their self-concept, self-esteem, recruitment, retention, and performance. Thus, nurses who have positive professional images have good knowledge retention.
 Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study were conducted among nursing students in Purbanchal University School of Health Sciences through self-administration question. Data collection involved assessment of nursing student’s perception towards their profession through census method. Chi-square was done to examine associations between perception of profession and its factors.
 Results: The 126 participants were included in this study; most of them 60.8% were studying in 1st year. This study mentioned that 51.6%had positive perception and found a significant relationship between perception and the age of the respondents. This suggests that the way respondents perceive the profession is influenced by their age.

Honorary teachers refer to educators who have not received official appointments as civil servants (PNS) inside formal educational institutions, spanning from primary to secondary education levels. The objective of addressing the issues in this study pertains to the notion of justice and human rights in relation to the pay entitlements of honorary professors. In accordance with the Law on human rights and legal justice, any violation of the law and established human rights standards would be deemed unacceptable. The research methodology employed in this study adopts a normative juridical approach, which entails conducting a comprehensive literature review and analyzing theories, concepts, and legislation relevant to the research problems under investigation. The findings of the study indicate To address this issue, it is imperative to ensure diligent oversight in assessing the responsibilities and performance of educators, so enabling them to get a pay commensurate with their exertions, while maintaining fundamental human rights. The government through the ministry of education culture research technology must be a facilitator and directly involved in handling, limiting, and minimizing social inequality between a teacher with civil servant status and an ordinary honorary teacher. Because in essence the teacher is a noble profession that must be heeded and placed in a high degree.

ASSESSMENT OF TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS AMONG NURSES WORKING IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Nursing is a noble profession; time management is paramount to ensure the best patient care, effective management, quality education, and personal responsibilities. This study aimed to assess the time management skills of nurses working in the emergency department. A quantitative cross-sectional descriptive study design was used to assess the time management skills of nurses in the emergency department. The study was conducted at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, using purposive sampling techniques. Nurses aged over 25, working in emergency departments, having clinical experience of 3-5 years, and being registered by the Pakistan Nursing Council were included. Non-cooperative nurses and those working in departments other than emergencies were excluded. Data was collected through questionnaires that had two parts. Part I included biographic data, and Part II comprised 15 questions about time management skills. The results showed that over 50% of the nurses working in the emergency department, considered a hectic hospital unit, possessed time management skills. These skills included confidence, competence, prioritizing tasks, command and control, planning tasks or daily activities, learning from mistakes, feeling confident and competent, and writing appointments, following schedules, and rewarding themselves for their good job. The study concluded that most nurses working in the emergency department possess time management skills necessary for effective patient care. It is recommended that hospitals should provide training and resources to enhance these skills and that further research should be conducted to explore other factors that may affect time management in this setting. Overall, improving time management skills can lead to better patient outcomes, increased job satisfaction, and reduced stress for nursing staff.

Training of specialists for the valorization of mineral resources of the globe

The innovative development of the industry requires saturation with highly qualified technicians, continuously guided, educated and improved. The paper addresses the issues related to their personality, factors determining personal development, criteria for assessing personal development, technological culture, philosophy, basic qualities, attitude and skills necessary for the mining engineer, starting from the principle "Deep in the bowels of the Earth you find the root of knowledge!". The paper indicates, without being limiting, the authors' vision on how to approach the training of specialists for the exploitation of useful mineral substances (solids, liquids and gases).

The Making of Teaching Profession as a First Choice

In the global educational scene, the teaching profession has long been hailed as the noblest profession. It is through educators; that the citizenry is currently imbued with skills and knowledge that they need to maximize their capacities to their full potential. Thus, the researchers saw that it is pivotal to know the perception of the pre-service teachers on the teaching profession as a first choice, to provide baseline data that can unveil factors that influence the making and unmaking of the teaching profession. Using the descriptive research method, the data from a survey conducted among the 1st and 2nd-year students at the College of Education was gathered and interpreted. Subsequent to the t-test and Pearson correlation computation, the study uncovered that there is no significant difference in the perception of the 1st year respondents against the 2nd year respondents. Likewise, there is a moderately positive correlation in the respondents’ perception of teaching vis-à-vis teaching as a first choice and experience with their teachers.

The Association between Perceived Job Stress and Satisfaction, Empathy and Spiritual Beliefs on Burnout and Emotional Distress in Nurses: A Cross-sectional Study

Background: Nursing is a noble profession, which comes with a lot of responsibilities, workload, and demands made by the various stakeholders of health-care industry. Maintaining an empathic nurse–patient relationship is at its core, irrespective of the types of nursing care being rendered. This study aims to assess the association between perceived job stress and satisfaction, empathy, and spiritual beliefs on burnout and emotional distress, in nurses. Methodology: A cross-sectional research design was undertaken to meet the study objectives. Data were collected from a total of 257 consenting nurses, using the modified Consultants Job Stress and Satisfaction questionnaire, Maslach Burnout Inventory, Jefferson Scale of Physician Empathy-Health Provider Version, and General Health Questionnaire-12. Results: High empathy was related to lower depersonalization (DP) and higher personal accomplishment. Nurses who agreed on to their work beliefs being influenced by spiritual beliefs also had more commonly reported high job stress. More than a third (34.24%) of the nurses were emotionally distressed with a significant score in General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12). The GHQ-12 score significantly varied with high emotional exhaustion (EE), high DP, and job stress. Conclusion: Empathy and spiritual belief act as modifying factors for job stress and job satisfaction, respectively. A significant proportion of the nurses were found to have emotional distress which was significantly related to EE, DP, and job stress. A training module including strategies to build empathetic skills, stress management, and ways to promote psychological well-being, should be embedded in the curriculum of new graduate nurses.

Perception of Higher Education Level Students Towards Teaching Profession

Teaching is a noble profession because it makes a huge impact on the development of society or a country. It is a profession that can make a stronger nation. This study aims to find out the perception of higher education level students towards the teaching profession. A descriptive type survey method of research and a qualitative approach was used. 270 postgraduate students as samples through a convenience sampling technique were taken and data were collected through a self-developed standardized questionnaire contained with close-ended questions. The qualitative analysis method was used for data analysis, and percentage calculation was done. It was found that most of the respondents have low levels (31%) and very low levels (22%) of perception toward the teaching profession and the rest of them have average/moderate perception levels (22%), very high perception levels (28%), 14 % have high perception levels toward the teaching profession. Researchers concluded that the perception of higher education level students towards the teaching profession displayed a lack of positive or favourable perception towards the teaching profession.
