Determining the prognostic value of CRP and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio in patients hospitalized for deep neck infection

ObjectivesThis study aims to assess the impact of the Neutrophil/Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) and C-Reactive Protein (CRP), both markers of systemic inflammation, on the duration of hospitalization for Deep Neck Infections (DNIs). MethodsThe research encompassed patients of all age groups admitted between January 2016 and January 2021 due to DNIs. Patient data, including demographic details, etiology, comorbidities, radiological findings, treatment specifics, laboratory results (CRP values, leukocyte counts, neutrophil counts, lymphocyte counts, NLR), culture outcomes, length of stay, complications, mortalities were retrospectively evaluated. Patients were categorized into two groups based on their hospitalization duration: less than 7-days and 7-days or more. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to examine the association between age, NLR, CRP, and hospital stay length. ResultsThe study encompassed 275 patients, with a mean age of 36 ± 20.2 years. The mean hospital stay was 9.6 ± 6.6 days. Tonsillopharyngeal infections were the most common etiology (34%). Notably, in both univariate and multivariate analyses, age, NLR, and CRP values demonstrated significant (p < 0.05) predictive influence on hospitalization duration. ConclusionAge emerges as a determinant that affects hospital stay duration in DNIs. Moreover, NLR is proven to be comparable to CRP in predicting hospitalization length for these patients. NLR's feasibility as a cost-effective predictive marker, being conveniently derived from routine complete blood count assessments, adds to its clinical significance. This study underscores the potential value of NLR and CRP in informing patient management and care strategies for DNIs.

Prognostic value of circulating tumor cells combined with neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.

Circulating tumor cell (CTC) count and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are both closely associated with the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). To investigate the prognostic value of combining these two indicators in HCC. Clinical data were collected from patients with advanced HCC who received immune therapy combined with targeted therapy at the Department of Oncology, the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University, Sichuan, China, from 2021 to 2023. The optimal cutoff values for CTC programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) (+) > 1 or CTC PD-L1 (+) ≤ 1 and NLR > 3.89 or NLR ≤ 3.89 were evaluated using X-Tile software. Patients were categorized into three groups based on CTC PD-L1 (+) counts and NLR: CTC-NLR (0), CTC-NLR (1), and CTC-NLR (2). The relationship between CTC-NLR and clinical variables as well as survival rates was assessed. Patients with high CTC PD-L1 (+) expression or NLR at baseline had shorter median progression-free survival (mPFS) and median overall survival (mOS) than those with low levels of CTC PD-L1 (+) or NLR (P < 0.001). Meanwhile, patients in the CTC-NLR (2) group showed a significant decrease in mPFS and mOS. Cox regression analysis revealed that alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), CTC PD-L1 (+), and CTC-NLR were independent predictors of OS. The time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve showed that the area under the curve of CTC-NLR at 12 months (0.821) and 18 months (0.821) was superior to that of AFP and CTC PD-L1 (+). HCC patients with high CTC PD-L1 (+) or NLR expression tend to exhibit poor prognosis, and a high baseline CTC-NLR score may indicate low survival. CTC-NLR may serve as an effective prognostic indicator for patients with advanced HCC receiving immunotherapy combined with targeted therapy.

Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients With Acute Schizophrenia.

Introduction Schizophrenia symptom severity is linked to neuroinflammation. Certain blood cell indexes such as neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and neutrophil-albumin ratio (NAR) have been used as biomarkers in various diseases, including schizophrenia. In acute clinical practice, it is challenging to decide whether to provide intravenous antipsychotic treatment in some cases due to the lack of objective biomarkers of psychiatric symptoms. The NLR of individuals with schizophrenia is thought to be associated with disease severity, and changes in NLR may reflect a patient's response to antipsychotic treatment. We investigated the application of NLR as a biomarker for identifying acute severity and determining acute treatment response in patients withschizophrenia. Methods We retrospectively examined 251 inpatients diagnosed with schizophrenia and classified them according to treatment (intravenous haloperidol vs. oral antipsychotic medication during the acute phase) and investigated their NLR and NAR while receiving inpatient care. Results A total of 48 inpatients were given intravenous haloperidol to manage their acute symptoms; 208 were given oral antipsychotics. The intravenous haloperidol group experienced more severe symptoms, such as agitation and disorganized thinking, during the acute phase. Further, those who received intravenous haloperidol had significantly higher Clinical Global Impression-Severity (CGI-S) scores than the oral antipsychotic group. NLR and NAR were also significantly higher in the haloperidol intravenous group. Conclusion Elevated NLR and NAR could be easily measured in patients with psychomotor agitation who should be treated at any facility. Further, they are useful biomarkers for determining disease severity and the effects of treatment on psychomotor excitement in patients who require intravenous haloperidol.

Comparison of Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients with COVID-19 and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever

Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) can be found together in patients and are difficult to distinguish because they have the same antigenic viral structure, symptoms, and laboratory findings. Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio (NLR) is one of the inflammatory markers that are both easy and have fast results, so it is considered adequate for managing both diseases. This study aimed to compare NLR values and cut-off based on degrees in COVID-19 and DHF patients. The study used data from medical records of 459 COVID-19 patients and 95 DHF patients treated at UNHAS RSPTN and Sayang Rakyat Hospital from July 2020 to August 2021. They had routine hematological examination results when they were first admitted. COVID-19 samples were grouped into severe and moderate degrees, and DHF samples were grouped into DHF without shock and DHF in shock. Mann-Whitney test, independent T-test, and ROC curve were used to compare the two groups (significant if the p-value was &lt;0.05). There was a difference in NLR median between moderate COVID-19 (2.57) and severe COVID-19 (6.39) (p&lt;0.001); between DHF without-shock (0.49) and DHF in-shock (0.43) (p&lt;0.001). Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio cut-off between moderate and severe COVID-19 based on ROC curve was 5.66 (sensitivity 79.6%, specificity 73.5%), and between DHF without-shock and DHF in-shock was 0.39 (sensitivity 93.2%, specificity 83.3%). Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio values in COVID-19 are different from DHF. Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio values are higher in severe COVID-19 than moderate, while NLR values are lower in DHF in shock rather than without shock.

Prognostic Significance of Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients of High-Grade Glioma Undergoing Adjuvant Chemoradiation: A Prospective Study.

High-grade gliomas are highly fatal disease with poor prognosis despite multimodality management. Inflammatory biomarkers are widely used for prognostication in various solid malignancies to stratify high risk patients. The current research was conducted to investigate whether any change in neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) during adjuvant chemoradiotherapy has any prognostic significance in high-grade glioma patients. Seventy-three biopsy proven high-grade glioma patients treated with adjuvant chemoradiotherapy were enrolled in this study. Haematological parameters were collected before treatment, weekly during treatment, and at 4th week after chemoradiotherapy along with baseline characteristics. Overall survival (OS) was determined using Kaplan-Meier curve. Variables found statistically significant in univariate analysis by Cox regression model were subjected to final multivariable analysis. The median follow-up was around 17 months with a median OS of 17.2 months (95%CI 14.7-23). The best prognosis was seen in patients who had a baseline NLR< 3.5 with decline in NLR during treatment achieving a 1-year survival of 100% and median overall survival of 36.5 months. Patients who had baseline NLR ≥3.5 without a decline in NLR had worst prognosis with a 1-year survival of 25% (95%CI 9.4%-66.6%) and median OS of 7.1 months. On multivariate analysis, age [HR 1.025, p=0.040)], ECOG performance status≤1 [HR 0.089, p<0.001], extent of surgery [HR 0.305, p=0.001] and decline in NLR during treatment [HR 0.452, p=0.026] were found to be significant predictors of OS. This study demonstrated that NLR is a cost-effective biomarker that has prognostic significance in predicting overall survival for high-grade glioma patients.

Increased neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients with COPD: case-control study

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the major causes of chronic morbidity and mortality and one of the major public health problems worldwide that affects millions of people all over the world. It is characterized by persistent airflow obstruction associated with enhanced inflammation in the airways and the lungs in response to noxious particles or gases. The main objective of this study is to investigate the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients with COPD as a case-control study. Between November 01, 2022, and February 28, 2023, patients were admitted to Al Hussain Teaching Hospital in Al Muthanna Governorate, Department of Medicine. The study included 51 patients with an approved diagnosis of COPD the mean age was 51.5 years, and 51 patients as control with other diseases mean age was 51.3 years). The subjects in all groups were 32 male and 19 female. Complete blood count (CBC) was measured from blood samples taken from patients. In the present study 51 COPD cases and 51 controls. No significant difference was observed between COPD cases and controls regarding age (p = 0.092); the average age of COPD cases was 51.5 years. No significant differences were observed between COPD cases and controls regarding gender (p = 0.085). At baseline, 21.0%, 40.3%, 25.7%, and 13% were diagnosed as COPD grade 1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively based on the (GOLD) classification. Baseline NLR significantly increased with the severity of COPD grade (1.3 vs. 2.7 vs. 2.2 vs. 2.9), p = 0.002). The cutoff for neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio, CRP, WBC, and ESR were 3.28, 2.32, 1.22, and 4.21 respectively. It has 85% sensitivity for detection of COPD exacerbation. and 89% specificity (AUC 0.798, p = 0.001). In conclusion, Blood NLR is a simple, inexpensive, widely available index that has been intensively evaluated in recent years in several clinical applications and in various diseases, including COPD.

Peripheral Blood Eosinophilia and Neutrophil Lymphocyte Ratio in the Choice of Antibiotic and/or Steroid in Patients Hospitalized with Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

The choice of steroids and antibiotics is optional for the management of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pul- monary diseases according to international guidelines. The study hypothesized that the steroid and antibiotic choice can be decided by using the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio and peripheral blood eosinophilia in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases. This would reduce the rate of re-hospitalization in 28 days. Patients were hospitalized due to acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases from February 1, 2018, to January 31, 2019. Patients were divided into 2 groups: Sureyyapasa protocol group and conventional group. In the Sureyyapasa protocol group, patients were divided into 4 subgroups according to peripheral blood eosinophilia and neutrophil-lympho- cyte ratio values. Treatment success was defined as 5-7 days acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases treatment was enough to discharge and no re-hospitalization within 28 days. Treatment failure was defined that the hospital stay was longer than 7 days or transport to intensive care and death or readmission to the hospital due to acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases within 28 days after discharge. The Sureyyapasa protocol group (n = 96) and the conventional group (n = 95) were randomly selected. The conventional group and Sureyyapasa protocol group had similar hospital stay (P = .22), and antibiotic and steroid uses were significantly higher in the conventional group than the Sureyyapasa protocol group (antibiotic use 100% vs. 83%, P < .001 and steroid use 84% vs. 29%, P < .001, respectively). Treatment failure in the conventional Group (n = 23, 24%) is higher than the Sureyyapasa protocol group (n = 17, 18%). Initiating treatment by evaluating eosinophilia and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases in the ward reduces unnecessary antibiotic and steroid use and cost rates in hospitalizations.

Atherosclerosis, the clinically manifested form of cardiovascular disease (CVD), mainly accounts for most deaths worldwide. Inflammatory disorders that elevate CVD risk have been associated with circulating inflammatory markers that encompass neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), which could be employed as an economical prognostic tool for the diagnosis of the same. Hence, this study focused on assessing the extrapolative implication of NLR among ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients. The observational study included 55 STEMI patients (Mean age – 52.08 years) at Thanjavur medical college (December 2015 to February 2016). The patients were delineated into two groups based on NLR values (high &amp;#62;3.0 and low &amp;#60;3.0). Among the 55 patients, the post-MI complication was observed in 44 subjects, among which 10% of them expressed a high NLR value. A notable proportion of patients displaying arrhythmia and LV dysfunction had higher NLR values.Henceforth, the study reveals the independent and vital prognostic association between NLR and atherosclerosis that could be designated as a reliable marker in the early diagnosis of the disease as well post MI complications.

Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in patients with coronary heart disease

Introduction. Despite significant advances in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiovascular pathology, it is diseases associated with atherosclerosis that are still the main cause of mortality and disability. Atherosclerosis is based on local inflammation of the vascular wall and disruption of the lipid profile. Neutrophillymphocyte ratio is an indicator that can serve as a new diagnostic criterion of atherosclerotic changes. Materials and methods. The study enrolled 240 patients with coronary heart disease (150 men and 90 women). The subjects gave voluntary informed consent to participate in the study. All patients with CHD underwent coronary angiography, echocardiography and general blood analysis. Statistical processing of the results was performed using "Microsoft Office Excel" for Windows and "Statistica 10.0" software. Mann-Whitney test was used to assess the statistical significance of differences between the two groups for any parameters in the distribution of features other than normal. The Spearman rank correlation coefficient and its significance were used to assess the relationship between the two traits. Results. An increase in NLS values with progression of atherosclerotic coronary lesion severity was found; an inverse correlation between NLS value and LV ejection fraction (EF) was detected. Discussion. Our results, demonstrating an increase in this index with increasing severity of atherosclerotic lesions of the coronary arteries, are consistent with the literature data. Conclusion. Taking into account the fundamental role of inflammation in atherogenesis, as well as the difficulties of routine determination of expensive markers in everyday practice, the inclusion of an uncomplicated and economically affordable index of LVEF to assess the severity of coronary atherosclerosis and stratify the risk of adverse outcomes in patients with CHD is of undoubted scientific and practical interest and dictates the need for further study of its use in various patient cohorts.

Prognostic value of B-cell maturation antigen, CD56 expression and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio in patients with multiple myeloma

Introduction: B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) plays a critical role in regulating B-cell proliferation and differentiation into plasma cells. CD56 is involved in the adhesion of myeloma cells to the bone marrow matrix. Thus, lack of CD56 expression is associated with a higher incidence of extramedullary disease. An elevated neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) has been recognized as a poor prognostic factor in various hematological malignancies. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of BCMA, CD56 and NLR as novel prognostic markers in multiple myeloma (MM). Material and methods: The study included 80 subjects, 40 MM patients, and 40 normal healthy age- and sex-matched controls. BCMA was analyzed by enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay. Flow cytometry was used for the determination of CD56 expression. NLR was calculated from the complete blood count differential count. All patients received six cycles of bortezomib, cyclophosphamide and dexamethasone (VCD). Treatment outcome was assessed and progression-free survival (PFS) was estimated using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis. Results: Patients who achieved complete remission showed lower BCMA levels, positive CD56 expression, and lower NLR. Moreover, higher BCMA levels and CD56 negative expression were significantly associated with shorter PFS. Conclusions: Our study emphasizes the importance of BCMA, CD56 and NLR to predict the clinical outcome in MM patients. This could help in better risk stratification and tailored clinical management of MM patients.

Correlation Between Platelet-Lymphocyte Ratio and Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients with Uterine Leiomyoma: A Cross-Sectional Study.

The inflammatory reaction has been proven to be a key factor in the pathogenesis of uterine leiomyoma. The platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) and the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are inexpensive and reliable inflammatory biomarkers. However, evidence of the relationship between PLR and NLR in patients with uterine leiomyoma is limited. This study aimed to explore the relationship between PLR and NLR in patients with incident uterine leiomyoma. This cross-sectional study included 763 patients with uterine leiomyoma who were first diagnosed in our hospital between January 2016 and December 2016. Patient characteristics were collected for univariate analysis, smooth curve fitting, and multivariate piecewise linear regression. Overall, 722 patients with an average age of 40.16 ± 5.99 years were included. The average PLR was 161.22 ± 65.33. Univariate analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between PLR and NLR (P < 0.0001). In addition, the non-linear relationship between the PLR and NLR was tested using smooth curve fitting after adjusting for potential confounding factors. The multivariate piecewise linear regression model showed that there was a significant positive correlation between PLR and NLR in both PLR <226.45 (β 0.01, 95% CI: 0.01, 0.01;P < 0.0001) and >226.45 (β 0.00, 95% CI: 0.00, 0.00; P=0.0026). In conclusion, PLR and NLR are positively correlated in patients with uterine leiomyoma. This result clarifies the promoting role of inflammation in the occurrence of uterine leiomyoma.

The Predictive Value of Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients with Polycythemia Vera at the Time of Initial Diagnosis for Thrombotic Events.

Objective To investigate and discuss the predictive value of the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in patients with polycythemia vera (PV) at the time of initial diagnosis, as well as its clinical significance in predicting the occurrence of thrombotic events and the progression of future thrombotic events during follow-ups, with the goal of providing a reference for the early identification of high-risk PV patients and the early intervention necessary to improve the prognosis of PV patients. Method A total of 170 patients diagnosed with PV for the first time were enrolled in this study. The risk factors affecting the occurrence and development of thrombotic events in these patients were statistically analyzed. Results NLR (P = 0.030), WBC count (P = 0.045), and history of previous thrombosis (P < 0.001) were independent risk factors for thrombotic events at the time of initial diagnosis. Age ≥ 60 years (P = 0.004), NLR (P = 0.025), history of previous thrombosis (P < 0.001), and fibrinogen (P = 0.042) were independent risk factors for the progression of future thrombotic events during follow-ups. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC curves) showed that NLR was more effective in predicting the progression of future thrombotic events than age ≥ 60 years, history of previous thrombosis, and fibrinogen. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed progression-free survival time of thrombotic events in the high NLR value group (NLR ≥ 4.713) (median survival time 22.033 months, 95% CI: 4.226-35.840), which was significantly lower compared to the low NLR value group (NLR < 4.713) (median overall survival time 66.000 months, 95% CI: 50.670-81.330); the observed difference was statistically significant (P < 0.001). The 60-month progression-free survival in the low NLR value group was 58.8%, while it was 32.8% in the high NLR value group. Conclusion Peripheral blood NLR levels in patients with PV resulted as an independent risk factor for the occurrence of thrombotic events at the time of initial diagnosis and for the progression of future thrombotic events during follow-ups. Peripheral blood NLR levels at the time of initial diagnosis and treatment had better diagnostic and predictive value for the progression of future thrombotic events in patients with PV than age ≥ 60 years, history of previous thrombosis, and fibrinogen.

e21041 Background: The tumor microenvironment TME is a heterogeneous mixture of different tumor cells, necrotic cells and immune infíltrate.Furthermore nerves and vasculature immersed in the surrounding stroma. The TME cells have different immunological phenotypes. The infiltrating lymphocytes of the tumor stroma (tils) and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are a reflection of the state of “inflammation” in the TME and his systemic repercussion. In our institution we have carried out several research studies studying different markers of inflammation, such as BMI, TILs and NLR in different solid tumors. We conclude that these markers of inflammation have a role in tumor behavior, prognosis and response to treatment. The main objective was investigated the relationship between as NLR and progression-free survival (PFS).in patients with NSCLC who received immunotherapy. The secondary objective was to analyze if there is a relationship between ORR and NLR in patients with NSCLC. Methods: Retrospective and analytical study of patients of Instituto Oncológico de Córdoba. Patients with stage IV NSCLC were analyzed. Were included patient who performed IT alone or in combination with another immunomodulator or platinum-based chemotherapy. The cut-off value for NLR &gt; or &lt; 3 was taken. ORR was evaluated by RECIST criteria. For the statistical analysis of survival, Chi-Square test and Kaplan-Meyer test were used. Results: 52 pts with NSCLC were selected, the average age was 67 years. Of the total number of subjects analyzed, 75% (39) presented non-squamous histology and 25% (13) presented squamous histology. All performed IT (anti PD1) alone or in combination with another immunomodulator (Ipilimumab) or platinum-based CT. Of total patients analized, 27 pts had a NLR &lt; 3; and 25 pts NLR &gt; 3. The median overall survival (OS)was 8.5 months for general population. Patients with an NLR &lt; 3, the median PFS was 14.9 months and those with an NLR &gt; 3 was 5.5 months (p: 0.01). When analyzed the ORR in pts with NLR &lt; 3 it was 21% and those with NLR &gt; 3 the ORR was 4% with statistically significant differences (p:0.02). All patients had follow-up of at least 1 year4 patients (8%)with NLR &lt; 3 had disease progression at 6 months in differencies with patients with NLR &gt; 3 that had progression 13 pts (25%)(p:0.01) and these differences were maintained when we evaluated the PFS at year. Conclusions: Patients with NLR &lt; 3 had better progression-free survival and ORR. It is possible that NLR is a very useful and easily accessible predictive factor in patients with NSCLC undergoing immunotherapy.

Micronutrient Level Is Negatively Correlated with the Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients with Severe COVID-19.

Aim To explore the potential relationship between NLR and micronutrient deficiency in patients with severe COVID-19 infection. Methods Sixteen patients were categorized into the mild group (mild COVID-19) and severe group (severe COVID-19) based on the guideline of the management of COVID-19. The lactate dehydrogenase (LDH); superoxide dismutase (SOD), the inflammatory markers (neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR)), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), c-reactive protein (CRP), selenium (Se), iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), nickel (Ni), copper (Cu), chromium (Cr), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), and manganese (Mn) were measured in the blood. Results Compared to the mild group, the NLR (P < 0.05) and the level of Se (P < 0.01), Fe (P < 0.05), and Zn (P < 0.05) were significantly decreased in the severe group. The level of Se, Fe, and Zn was significantly correlated to NLR levels. Furthermore, close positive correlation was found between NLR and severity of COVID-19. Prognostic Significance of the Combined Score of Plasma Fibrinogen and Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Ratio in Patients with Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Background The combination of plasma fibrinogen and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (F-NLR) score is a novel inflammatory marker constituted by peripheral blood fibrinogen concentration and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio. In the current study, we aim to explore the relationship between admission F-NLR score and intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and assess its prognostic predictive ability in ICH patients. Methods The original cohort was consecutively recruited from August 2014 to September 2017, and the validation cohort was consecutively recruited between October 2018 and March 2020. The primary outcomes were 3-month functional outcome and 1-month mortality. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS and R software. Results A total of 431 and 251 ICH patients were included in original cohort and validation cohort, respectively. In the original cohort, F-NLR score could independently predict the 3-month functional outcome (adjusted OR 2.013, 95% CI 1.316-3.078, p = 0.001) and 1-month mortality (adjusted OR 3.036, 95% CI 1.965-4.693, p < 0.001). Receiver operation characteristic (ROC) analyses and predictive model comparison indicated that F-NLR score had a stronger predictive ability in the 3-month outcome and 1-month mortality. Validation cohort verified the results. Conclusion F-NLR score was an independent indicator for both the 3-month functional outcome and 1-month mortality, and its prognostic predictive ability was superior to fibrinogen and NLR in both the original and the validation cohort.
