Innovative Approaches to Managing Postoperative Complications in Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy: A Scoping Review.

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is an effective surgical intervention for obesity, but managing complications post LSG remains crucial. Given the global prevalence of obesity, innovative approaches are needed to improve patient outcomes. Objective: This scoping review aimed to comprehensively map the existing literature on innovative approaches for managing complications in adult patients undergoing LSG to treat morbid obesity. This management strategy may include surgical techniques, perioperative care, nutritional support, or other relevant strategies. Methods: A systematic search of PubMed and Scopus databases was conducted to identify relevant studies. The prespecified inclusion criteria were applied through a two-stage screening process. Studies involving adult patients who underwent LSG for morbid obesity (body mass index > 35) and those investigating interventions related to complications were included. The scoping review process adhered to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews. The results were summarized using a narrative approach. Results: This review included 31 studies with 4547 participants, showing diverse study designs, patient demographics, and surgical locations. Among them, 6 were case reports, 18 were randomized controlled trials, and 7 were retrospective studies. Complications of LSG include staple-line leaks, stenosis, hemorrhage, infection, gastric volvulus, and nutrient malabsorption. Innovative interventions, such as staple-line reinforcement, plication methods, and the Over-the-Scope Clip system, have been investigated for effective management. Conclusion: This scoping review provides valuable insights into innovative interventions for managing complications post LSG. This review highlights the need for further research to explore long-term outcomes, compare different interventions, and address the existing gaps in the literature.

Enhancing IoT Security in Vehicles: A Comprehensive Review of AI-Driven Solutions for Cyber-Threat Detection

Background: The Internet of Things (IoT) has improved many aspects that have impacted the industry and the people’s daily lives. To begin with, the IoT allows communication to be made across a wide range of devices, from household appliances to industrial machinery. This connectivity allows for a better integration of the pervasive computing, making devices “smart” and capable of interacting with each other and with the corresponding users in a sublime way. However, the widespread adoption of IoT devices has introduced some security challenges, because these devices usually run in environments that have limited resources. As IoT technology becomes more integrated into critical infrastructure and daily life, the need for stronger security measures will increase. These devices are exposed to a variety of cyber-attacks. This literature review synthesizes the current research of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to improve IoT security. This review addresses key research questions, including: (1) What are the primary challenges and threats that IoT devices face?; (2) How can AI be used to improve IoT security?; (3) What AI techniques are currently being used for this purpose?; and (4) How does applying AI to IoT security differ from traditional methods? Methods: We included a total of 33 peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2024, specifically in journal and conference papers written in English. Studies irrelevant to the use of AI for IoT security, duplicate studies, and articles without full-text access were excluded. The literature search was conducted using scientific databases, including MDPI, ScienceDirect, IEEE Xplore, and SpringerLink. Results were synthesized through a narrative synthesis approach, with the help of the Parsifal tool to organize and visualize key themes and trends. Results: We focus on the use of machine learning, deep learning, and federated learning, which are used for anomaly detection to identify and mitigate the security threats inherent to these devices. AI-driven technologies offer promising solutions for attack detection and predictive analysis, reducing the need for human intervention more significantly. This review acknowledges limitations such as the rapidly evolving nature of IoT technologies, the early-stage development or proprietary nature of many AI techniques, the variable performance of AI models in real-world applications, and potential biases in the search and selection of articles. The risk of bias in this systematic review is moderate. While the study selection and data collection processes are robust, the reliance on narrative synthesis and the limited exploration of potential biases in the selection process introduce some risk. Transparency in funding and conflict of interest reporting reduces bias in those areas. Discussion: The effectiveness of these AI-based approaches can vary depending on the performance of the model and the computational efficiency. In this article, we provide a comprehensive overview of existing AI models applied to IoT security, including machine learning (ML), deep learning (DL), and hybrid approaches. We also examine their role in enhancing the detection accuracy. Despite all the advances, challenges still remain in terms of data privacy and the scalability of AI solutions in IoT security. Conclusion: This review provides a comprehensive overview of ML applications to enhance IoT security. We also discuss and outline future directions, emphasizing the need for collaboration between interested parties and ongoing innovation to address the evolving threat landscape in IoT security.

Classical Medical Cases of Doubt Narrative Foreclosure in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Their Corresponding Narrative Mediation

Abstract: Narrative foreclosure is a phenomenon highlighted within the Chinese narrative medicine system, characterized by a state in which individuals become overly suspicious due to certain events in their development, leading to profound concerns about their health and safety. This article employs the logical discourse framework of Chinese narrative medicine to illustrate the experiences of various patients exhibiting typical instances of narrative foreclosure in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) cases, such as Bei Gong She Ying (杯弓蛇影 snake shadow in the cup), Wu Qiu Zhi Chong (吴球治虫Wu Qiu treats worms), and Fa Jing Qu She (法靖驱蛇 Fajing drives away snakes). It explores how TCM practitioners leverage narrative wisdom to facilitate patients in dispelling their internal doubts through the concept of Bu Yao Wei Yao (不药为药 healing diseases without medicine). Through these medical cases, the article advocates for the significance of narrative competencies among medical practitioners in diagnosing and treating patients, alongside the use of pharmaceuticals and surgical interventions. Additionally, it outlines the prospects for the future development of narrative approaches in TCM.

Engaging Youth with the Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility Framework: Sport Psychology Graduate Students’ Experience in a Service-Learning Course

Purpose: Grounded in the framework of Hellison’s (2011) Teaching Personal and Social Responsibility model, this study sought to understand how graduate students learned to facilitate a youth physical activity program while participating in a service-learning course designed to promote sport for development. Methods: This study utilized a thematic narrative analysis approach. Researchers interviewed one cohort of Master’s students (n=5) studying counseling and sport psychology who participated in the service-learning course. Results: Identified themes included: (1) supervision and consultation, (2) observation, and (3) self-reflection, along with emergent sub-themes when relevant. Conclusions: This research provides insight into how future service-learning courses in the field of counseling and sport psychology can be developed to facilitate graduate student learning through a culturally conscious lens. Applications in Sport: This information can be valuable for sport psychologists, sport social workers, mental performance consultants, physical education teachers, and coach educators when considering how to promote the development of future practitioners.

Impact of Genetic Risk Information for Cardiovascular Disease on Behavioural, Psychological Responses, and Risk Factor Modification: A Systematic Review.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains a significant public health concern, influenced by both genetic susceptibility and lifestyle factors. Integrating genetic risk information into clinical practice shows promise but has yielded mixed results regarding its impact on CVD prevention and management. This systematic review aimed to assess the impact of providing genetic CVD risk information on health behaviours, psychological outcomes, and risk factors. Following JBI methodology and PRISMA 2020 guidelines, four electronic databases and two trial registries were searched for randomised controlled trials evaluating the impact of genetic risk information on the CVD risk profile. Data was synthesised using a narrative synthesis approach. Of the 3,596 articles retrieved, 11 studies were eligible. Genetic risk information showed modest improvements in dietary behaviour but had inconclusive effects on physical activity and medication adherence. Minimal changes in psychological outcomes were noted, including a slight decrease in depression. The impact on traditional risk factors, such as systolic blood pressure and total cholesterol was also limited. Bias across all studies was noted. Genetic CVD risk information has limited effects on clinical outcomes and psychological factors, despite its potential to encourage some health behaviour changes. These findings suggest that genetic risk information alone may not be sufficient to significantly reduce cardiovascular risk, highlighting the need for further research to better understand its long-term effects.

Decoupling narrative visualizations into components: Helping designers to tell data-driven stories

There is a growing interest in presenting data clearly to users. One of the ways to increase engagement and understanding of this data is through narrative visualizations, as they utilize elements that can enhance understanding of the presented data in different ways. In this context, after a literature review on elements of narrative data visualizations, we identified a gap in detailed descriptions of narrative genres. Considering this, we conducted a focus group with professionals in the field, which resulted in the concept called “Navis Structure.” It organizes narrative genres into components for design assistance. In this case, the genres can be single-component or multi-component. Additionally, these genres were classified, considering not only this structure but also visual representation, interaction techniques, freedom of exploration, and narrative approach. Finally, we conducted a workshop with professionals experienced in data visualization to analyze and validate the proposed concept, believing that the findings contribute to advancing the understanding of narrative genres and guide future research in narrative data visualizations.

Preferences of Cancer Survivors for Follow-Up Care: A Systematic Review of Discrete Choice Experiments.

Cancer survivors frequently encounter multiple challenges, including physical, psychological, social, emotional, and financial difficulties. These challenges significantly impact their quality of life and recovery process. This systematic review intends to delineate and assess the evidence gathered from discrete choice experiments, aiming to unravel the preferences of cancer survivors towards their follow-up care. A systematic literature review was conducted across PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, CNKI, Wanfang, and SinoMed databases up to July 2024. Two reviewers independently conducted the screening, data extraction, and quality appraisal of the studies. The collected data were synthesized through a narrative approach. Additionally, semi-quantitative analyses were used to evaluate the frequency, importance, and significance of each attribute. Eight studies conducted across four countries were analyzed, yielding 41 distinct attributes grouped into eight main categories and 14 subcategories, further refined by subject matter. Despite the differences in payment systems between countries, the type of provider topped the list of preferences for cancer survivors' follow-up care. Next in preference was the contact modality. Service quality (comprehensive plans, personalized service, detailed information) was also valued. However, opinions diverged on continuity, additional support, and service frequency. The attributes of follow-up care preferences integrated in this review demonstrate a diverse range among cancer survivors. Generally, they prioritize skilled professionals, flexible contact modality, and other high-quality follow-up care elements. Future studies should analyze cancer survivors' preferences for follow-up care from the perspectives of different stakeholders, and further consider internal and external factors to ensure authentic decision making.

Spiritual and Emotional Care Among Clergy as First Responder-Victims in Puerto Rico: A Longitudinal Qualitative Study.

A longitudinal qualitative study was conducted to explore the experiences of church leaders (10 priests, pastors, and pastors' wives) who provided disaster spiritual/emotional care (DSEC) to the island of Puerto Rico during a period of intense and repeated crises from 2017 to 2022. Utilizing a narrative inquiry approach, 18 in-depth interviews were conducted and analyzed. Findings indicated that the participants engaged in psychological, social, and religious coping strategies to actively cope with the stress and trauma of being first responder rescuer/victims. Regional, cultural and contextual factors are considered in an effort to understand and enhance services to populations where disaster is the new normal.

Appalachia - Bridging the Opioid Epidemic Amid the Fentanyl Crisis.

Although the opioid epidemic and fentanyl crisis are nationwide problems of immense proportions, calming the storm raging across the isolating geo-economic framework of Appalachia demonstrates the need for courageous, culturally effective programs that have the power to address and overcome the grave situation of addiction in this region. In the Appalachian region, unjust social structures are embedded in the communities' socio-economic conditions. As this reality poses even greater barriers to addressing the opioid epidemic in these communities, the restoration of social relationships within a community becomes vital to the development of a broader approach to social functioning and human flourishing. Faith traditions and faith communities can play an important role in helping to establish and support such social cohesion through attention to the individual, social, and spiritual needs of the community. This essay explores the complex problem of the opioid epidemic compounded by the fentanyl crisis. It considers the importance of public health research within the regional geo-economic framework of Appalachia to (a) inform policies that improve health inequities and promote social cohesion, (b) develop social solutions with a spiritual dimension, and (c) reveal remedies capable of informing moral norms in support of building a more just society. Reflecting on the virtue of solidarity, this essay also highlights the witness of the Catholic Church's response to the suffering experienced within the communities and the societies within the Appalachian mountains. While there may be considerable interest in viewing this article as a research document, foundationally, this essay utilizes a literary narrative approach through a Catholic lens to inform ethical deliberations, reasoning, and practice while supporting ethical reflection and consideration of the responses raised. Further, the reader is strongly encouraged to reference the comprehensive footnote system provided for extension and verification of the data presented.

Navigating Intersectional Complexities: A Narrative Analysis of Syrian Refugee Women With Disabilities in Turkey

Refugee women with disabilities experience a multiplicity of insecurities before, during, and after their displacement, including exposure to violence during conflicts, barriers to their mobility, challenges along their routes to safety, difficulties in accessing rights and services in the host state, and hardships while navigating the means of survival in the host community. Despite the intertwined convergence of gender and ableism in exile affecting refugee women’s experiences, international and national laws and policies fail to address this intersectional reality. This study examines the lived experiences of Syrian refugee women with disabilities in Gaziantep, Turkey. Through an analysis of qualitative data with a narrative approach, the study not only depicts the interactions of gender, disability, and displacement that shape Syrian women’s lives but also contests the traditional discourse on their vulnerabilities. Through specific stories of Syrian women, this study highlights their strategies for survival and their future plans within the context of the intersectionality of the challenges they face.

ROLE OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF INCLUSIVE EDUCATION PRACTICES IN RWANDA, A CASE OF GASABO DISTRICT

This study explored the role of community engagement in implementionof Inclusive Education practices in Gasabo District, Rwanda. The research investigated four key dimensions: community awareness, socio-economic factors, community participation, and social-cultural influences on Inclusive Education implementation. Through qualitative methodology, the study engaged 64 stakeholders, including headteachers, local leaders, and parents of children with and without disabilities, using purposive and convenience sampling methods. Data were analyzed using thematic, narrative, and interpretive approaches. Key findings revealed limited understanding of Inclusive Education concepts and practices among community members, with significant knowledge gaps in supporting children with disabilities. Socio-economic barriers, including resource constraints and high costs of specialized learning materials, created educational exclusion. Community participation was found to be insufficient, lacking structured engagement frameworks. Social-cultural factors showed persistent stigma and misconceptions, though community solidarity and religious values provided some support. The study recommends implementing long-term community awareness campaigns, engaging local and religious leaders to address cultural beliefs about disability, and developing strategies to overcome financial barriers in accessing Inclusive Education. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of active parent-community engagement through regular communication and workshops. These findings contribute to the development of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for Inclusive Education programs and promote partnerships and help correct misconceptions about disability and highlight the benefits of inclusive education for all children by fostering campaigns among government agencies, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and community stakeholders in implementation of Inclusive Education practices in Rwanda.

Multilingual Realities and English Teacher Construction in Indonesian Pesantren: A Narrative Inquiry

This study aimed to explore the construction of English teacher identity within the multilingual and religiously oriented environment of Indonesian pesantren through a narrative inquiry approach. Applying narrative inquiry, the study examined how teachers negotiate their religious and professional identities while balancing multiple language ideologies embodied in this educational context. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and reflective journals, providing rich narratives of teachers' experiences, challenges, and strategies in navigating their roles. Three key themes emerged: balancing language ideologies, the interplay between religious and professional identities, and multilingual practices in the classroom. The findings reveal the dynamic, context-responsive nature of teacher identity development within pesantren, highlighting how educators align religious values with pedagogical goals. This study addresses a critical gap by focusing on identity formation in faith-based multilingual education settings, offering new insights beyond secular or formal institutions. The implications contribute to broader discussions on teacher identity, multilingual education, and the intersection of language, religion, and teaching practices.

Representasi Otoritarianisme dalam Cerita Rakyat Kutai Berjudul “Punang”

The aim of this study is to explore the representation of authoritarianism in the Kutai folklore titled Punang, focusing on both the intrinsic and extrinsic aspects of the text. Through this story, it becomes evident how power and customary laws influence the social life of the community, particularly the pressure faced by King Buy to marry in order to produce offspring. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a hermeneutic and narrative approach to reveal messages of authoritarianism within the story. The findings indicate the presence of cultural authoritarianism, as seen in how leaders are expected to submit to collective decisions and customary laws that regulate individual freedom. This research contributes to a deeper understanding of regional literature and demonstrates how traditional norms can shape power structures and social legitimacy within local communities.

Evaluating Educational Patterns and Methods in Infant Sleep Care: Trends, Effectiveness, and Impact in Home Settings—A Systematic Review

Background: Sleep care is crucial for the health and development of infants, with proper sleep patterns reducing the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related incidents. Educational interventions targeting caregivers are essential in promoting safe sleep practices. Methods: This systematic review adhered to PRISMA guidelines, searching databases such as PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library. Inclusion criteria focused on studies involving home-based interventions for infants aged 0–12 months, including parental education and behavioral interventions. Exclusion criteria included studies in clinical settings and non-peer-reviewed articles. Data extraction and synthesis were performed by two independent reviewers, using a narrative approach to categorize interventions and outcomes. Results: Twenty-three studies met the inclusion criteria. Key findings indicate that home-based educational interventions, including hospital-based programs, home visits, and mobile health technologies, significantly improve parental knowledge and adherence to safe sleep practices. These interventions also enhance parental satisfaction and contribute positively to infant health outcomes. Conclusions: Educational interventions have demonstrated effectiveness in promoting safe sleep practices among caregivers, particularly in home settings. These interventions, including hospital-based programs, home visits, and digital tools, improve parental knowledge, adherence to guidelines, and overall satisfaction. The impact is evident in the reduction of unsafe sleep behaviors and enhanced infant health outcomes. However, variability in the intervention methods and delivery, cultural contexts, and geographic focus suggest a need for more tailored, long-term, and comprehensive studies. Future research should standardize outcome measures and assess the sustained impact of these educational strategies on infant sleep patterns and caregiver practices over time. This will provide deeper insights into the trends and long-term effectiveness of educational patterns and methods in diverse home environments.

Antisense Oligonucleotides in Dyslipidemia Management: A Review of Clinical Trials.

Elevated serum total cholesterol levels, very low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, or a decreased serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol concentration characterize dyslipidemia. Antisense Oligonucleotide therapy in dyslipidemia targets apolipoprotein B (ApoB), an essential component of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) associated with atherosclerosis development. This review aims to critically evaluate the efficacy and safety of this group of medications in mitigating dyslipidemia in at-risk individuals and its potential role in advancing personalized medicine in the management of dyslipidemias. A detailed search was conducted from multiple databases adhering to the PRISMA guidelines. Clinical trials and randomized controlled trials on antisense oligonucleotides for management of dyslipidemias were included, excluding non-English studies, case reports and all forms of reviews. Data was screened, with duplicates removed, and key findings were synthesized using a narrative approach. The potential of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) to treat dyslipidemia and other disorders has attracted much interest. Several studies and clinical trials have been conducted on the safety and tolerability of ASOs for dyslipidemia. Although statins are the mainstay management of hypercholesterolemia, there is evidence from clinical trials that ASOs can even be more effective with little to no side effects. Novel therapeutic approaches such as antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) offer tailored therapeutic alternatives. ASOs such as Mipomersen and Volanesorsen provide additional treatment options for patients with inherited lipid abnormalities by lowering certain atherogenic lipoproteins such as apo B and ApoC-III, respectively.

Scaling the Food Mountain: Implications for Addressing the Determinants of Consumer Food Waste Practices

The growing food waste phenomenon is recognised as a global issue with significant social, economic, and environmental burdens. This is a major concern in developed nations, where consumers are the largest contributors to the total volume of food waste production. As a leading cause of food and water insecurity, economic inequality, and environmental degradation, preventing and minimising consumer food waste is a key objective for policymakers and practitioners. Due to the complex consumer behaviours and practices associated with food waste generation, current understandings of why food waste occurs remain scattered. The purpose of this review is therefore to map the history and development of consumer food waste research over time, highlighting key themes and inconsistencies within the existing literature. Adopting a narrative approach, the literature is organised into three distinct themes to explore and identify the various internal and external determinants of consumer food waste. Our analysis highlights consumer food waste as a complex and multi-faceted challenge which cannot be attributed to one single variable, but rather a combination of behaviours determined by various societal, individual, and behavioural factors. While previous research tends to frame food waste as mainly a consumer issue, this review identifies several collective actors who are central to the problem. These findings call for a holistic view across the food supply chain to help identify opportunities for multi-stakeholder actions that prevent and reduce food waste at the consumer level. Drawing upon these new insights, we provide practical recommendations to assist policymakers, retailers, and consumers in mitigating consumer-related food waste.

WHICH IS MORE EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING BLOOD PRESSURE IN HYPERTENSION PATIENTS: A LOW SALT DIET OR THE DIETARY APPROACHES TO STOP HYPERTENSION (DASH)?

Background: Hypertension is a disease that requires early attention. One effort to prevent increased blood pressure in hypertension sufferers is to implement a diet that has been consulted with nutrition experts. Objectives: The aim of preparing this literature review is to compare the effectiveness of implementing a low-salt diet and dietary approaches to stop hypertension from the results of previous research. Design: The design used in preparing this article is a systematic review. Data Sources: This systematic review used 5 search databases to collect articles, including SCOPUS, Pubmed, Google Scholar, DOAJ, and ScienceDirect with the search year range 2019-2024. Review Methods: The researchers used the JBI Critical Appraisal guidelines to determine articles suitable for this systematic review. Then, the selected articles were reviewed comprehensively using a narrative approach. Results: Search results obtained 10,685 publications. Researchers filtered by eliminating duplicate publications, reviewing articles, and focusing on the Issue of Interest in Table 1 totaling 9,578 publications. Researchers re-screened the title (n = 598), abstract (n = 387), and full text (n = 113) of each publication that did not meet the inclusion criteria in Table 1. The researchers found 9 full-text publications that met the requirements for use in this systematic review. However, researchers only used 7 publications because 2 publications were considered to have a risk of bias. Conclusion: Based on the results of a systematic review that has been carried out, it was found that implementing the DASH diet will be more effective than implementing a low-salt diet.

Impact of Digitally Enabled Peer Support Interventions on Diabetes Distress and Depressive Symptoms in People Living with Type 1 Diabetes: A Systematic Review.

To explore the impact of digitally-enabled peer support interventions on diabetes distress and depression for individuals living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). We synthesized the results of nine key studies from a review of 3,623 English-language articles published between January 2012 and January 2024. Three studies demonstrated significant reductions in diabetes distress, and two studies reported reductions in depression. Data were analyzed using a narrative approach, including thematic synthesis. This process was structured around the Behavior Change Wheel framework Effective interventions shared several common features such as (1) involved participatory development approaches, (2) included diabetes education, (3) lasted over a longer time, (4) designed with a psychological framework, and (5) utilized peer mentors. Studies showed that digitally-enabled peer support has the potential to improve diabetes distress and depression among people living with T1D despite heterogeneity in intervention approaches. Moreover, designing interventions with certain features may enhance key psychosocial outcomes.

Improving inclusive school food practices with parent voices

ABSTRACT In Canadian schools, food and drink offerings have yet to be explicitly incorporated in most inclusive food policies and practices. With the growing number of vegetarian and vegan (veg*n) families and literature documenting their marginalisation, this study sought to explore parents’ experiences within Ontario schools for their children who eat plant-based diets, yet also unearthed how limited choices negatively affected the good health and well-being of lactose and gluten intolerant students, as well as other dietary needs. Taking a narrative inquiry-inspired approach, interviews were conducted with 11 parents. In most schools, veg*n options were not available, and as a result, students felt socially excluded and, at times, were physically left out, which adversely affected their well-being and interrupted their learning. Most parents also felt unsupported when advocating for their children. All parents recommended partnerships for the goals of inclusion and quality education, by forming inclusive school food policies, teaching about a range of diet diversity, including why people adopt these, such as for health, animal welfare, sustainability, religion, culture, and more. By informing school food policies with parent voices, students can benefit from reduced inequalities and good health and well-being. Doing so would foster peace, justice and strong institutions.

The Road Less Travelled: Exploring the Planning and Preparation for a Critical Social Justice Module by the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa

This qualitative study aimed to explore the journey of planning and preparation for the implementation of a Critical Social Justice and Citizenship (CSJ) module at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Despite political democracy in South Africa, racial, sexist, gender, and cultural pathological issues persist. The CSJ module addresses these challenges by focusing on gender-based violence, racism, gender inequality, classism, and other forms of discrimination. The study adopted an interpretive paradigm and a narrative inquiry approach to investigate the experiences of the planning team and the tutors involved in the CSJ module. Data were generated through observations of workshops, which were presented via photo narratives and individual interviews. The analysis was performed using thematic and content analysis methods. A theoretical framework for the study was based on “Education for Liberation,” which encompasses human rights, inclusion, and education for social justice. The experiences of the planning team and the tutors highlighted both the challenges and the successes encountered during the planning and preparation phases. The identified themes included the importance of collaborative efforts, the need for ongoing support and training, and the evolving understanding of social justice issues by the tutors. Recommendations for future implementation include improving support structures for tutors, continuous professional development, and improving module content based on feedback and experiences. This study contributes to scholarship by providing a detailed account of the development of a social justice-oriented educational module in a higher education context. The study also offers information on the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary approach in the development of educational interventions aimed at promoting social justice.
