Despite increased research and the introduction of new therapies and guidelines to manage the side-eff ects and psychological aspects relevant to the patient with cancer during treatment, supportive oncology is still a neglected area of study. The Lancet Oncology is therefore issuing a call for papers on supportive oncology. We are specifi cally interested in the results of randomised controlled trials and other original clinical studies that will have a profound eff ect on clinical practice. Accepted papers will be published in The Lancet Oncology, and publication will coincide with the annual meeting of the Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC) to be held in Rome, Italy, on June 25–27, 2009. We are especially interested in research that will be presented at this conference, but we will also consider other suitable articles. If your submission describes, in part or wholly, a study accepted for presentation at the MASCC meeting, please let us know the precise details of the type of presentation (such as poster or oral presentation), including dates and times, so that publication can be scheduled to comply with MASCC embargo policies. Articles can be submitted via The Lancet Oncology’s online submission service, but all authors must clearly state in the covering letter that their submission is in response to The Lancet Oncology’s call for papers.
