Part two: “thirty-seven years later - the UK migrant crisis” Deconstructing the erosion of British national sovereignty

This part two body of work 37 years after this researcher’s first delving into immigration entitled “The Worst is Yet to Come. The Challenges of Multiculturalism in Britain: An Examination of Over-Migration, Assimilation, and A Warning for the Future.” (1987). This investigation will seek to dissect the administrative practices that have allowed for unshackled policies on immigration to be sustained in the United Kingdom for six decades and undermine the tenets for the checks and balances in a democracy. Why has the British public become so subjugated that it accepted over-migration without any initial protest in the past and had waited for a tragedy of three little girls to occur, and to finally revolt against the state - notably the recent summer of rioting. This study investigates how a once influential nation, became acquiescent to a dangerous level of devaluation. A comparison was made with the repressive attitude of Poland towards immigration of dissimilar faith, specifically resulting, in zero terrorist activity that has been observed in their country. The research explores the extent to which ethnic stability can be expected with over-immigration - addressing factors such as tolerance, the state of the economy (Nash’s Equilibrium) and alternative models of social integration. It is also recorded from the results that the United Kingdom has failed in its policies regarding immigration which has caused social problems, cultural disquiet, and economic pressures that have put at risk the societal structure or the fabric of Britain itself. Concerning the theoretical contributions, the study squarely cites the lack of responsibility or poor governance from all political parties. Their neglect of nation sovereignty even though, governments have critical role that they play in ensuring the protection and welfare of its native citizenry. Finally, this research will serve as a warning to other neoliberal oriented nations of which ignore their fellow citizenry’s well-being.

Social Inclusion as A Challenge of Multiculturalism in Germany: A Study on Muslim Minorities

Multiculturalism emphasises cultural and religious diversity in society. It plays an important role in the German context. However, its application in the country still faces challenges that affect the social inclusion of the Muslim minority. Social inclusion is crucial for accepting and integrating minorities into the majority society. Muslim minorities in Germany face several challenges, including discrimination, economic inequality, and limited access to education and employment opportunities. Discrimination is a significant barrier to social inclusion, as stereotypical perceptions and prejudices against their religion and culture often lead to discriminatory experiences in everyday life. Social inclusion is negatively impacted by economic hardship, which limits access to decent employment and equal income. Additionally, limited access to education complicates the integration of Muslim minorities, reducing their chances of achieving economically viable employment and contributing positively to society. It is important to address inequality in access to education to promote social inclusion. This article explores the factors that affect the social inclusion of Muslim minorities in Germany. Relevant case studies are used to analyze the impact of these factors on the daily lives of Muslim minorities. The article also discusses the efforts that can be made by the government, community organizations, and individuals to improve social inclusion. The aim of this article is to comprehensively address the challenges faced by Muslim minorities in Germany with regards to social inclusion. The goal is to find solutions that promote social justice and equality for all citizens.

Leadership and Multicultural Environment

A pesantren is a non-formal educational institution with its own distinctiveness in the sociological and historical context of Indonesia. From the beginning, pesantren were established based on the leadership of a religious figure, supported and trusted by the local community. This research aims to explore and analyze how power and authority contests take place within the pesantren, particularly in the context of leadership at Pondok Pesantren Bustanul Makmur Genteng, led by KH. Muwafiq Amir. The study focuses on three main aspects: the paradigm of power and authority, the perspective of personal virtues, and the multicultural environment that shapes multicultural leadership in the pesantren. This research also seeks to redefine and revise the implementation of existing leadership theories by developing a theoretical framework different from previous studies. The research employs a literature review analysis method. Data collection is conducted through a systematic search of scholarly literature, including articles, journals, and documents that significantly discuss the theme of this study. The leadership of KH. Muwafiq Amir at Pondok Pesantren Bustanul Makmur, Genteng, Banyuwangi, highlights an intelligent adaptation to the local socio-cultural context and multicultural challenges in an urban environment. Although he is not a direct descendant of the pesantren's founder, KH. Muwafiq plays a key role in managing the pesantren through collaborative strategies involving the development of educational units that are strategic and relevant to the community's needs. He has also successfully integrated high spiritual values with the demands of modernity, realized in a competitive formal educational institution. This success demonstrates that KH. Muwafiq possesses spiritual maturity and innovative leadership capable of maintaining the relevance and sustainability of the pesantren in the face of rapid social change dynamics.

In view of globalization, in the wake of the development of international relations in the field of other things, it is becoming more and more important to emphasize the importance of multiculturalism and the processes taking place in it, both in the creation of a fruitful working environment and in the decision-making process. Its role in terms of sharing experience, acquiring new knowledge and the possibility of innovation, which is accompanied by the challenges of multiculturalism in the process of creating an effective working environment, gaining trust in the team, adaptation and integration, should be emphasized here. Based on the research and analysis of the features of the multicultural environment, the paper contains conclusions and recommendations for the interested parties on what are the ways to create a productive and effective work environment in organizations characterized by a multicultural work team. ‘So do you hear me? And “how” do you hear me?’ Perceptions of lecturers on students from Portuguese-speaking African countries in Portuguese higher education

ABSTRACT The internationalisation of Portuguese higher education implies multicultural challenges arising from the Portuguese language variation. Nevertheless, the perceptions of lecturers about their students are rarely analysed, though influencing learning. This will be the focus of our article, using focus groups. Findings show that lecturers experience unexpected situations of incomprehension with students speaking varieties of Portuguese, while profiling differently students’ sociolinguistic characteristics. Thirdly, participants differ on strategies applied to overcome difficulties encountered, such as pedagogical and monitoring. Our conclusions highlight the need to deconstruct lecturers’ ideologies as listening subjects of Portuguese language varieties and its socialisation, designing solutions promoting their capacity-building.

Paradigma Filsafat Islam: Revitalisasi Pendidikan Multikultural Telaah Pemikiran TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid Lombok

This research explores the thoughts of TGKH. Muhammad Zainuddin Abdul Madjid in the context of the Islamic philosophical paradigm related to multicultural education. Utilizing content analysis method, this study examines the philosophical concepts proposed by Zainuddin in response to the challenges of multiculturalism within the context of Islamic education. The results highlight Zainuddin's inclusive, dialogic, and tolerant approach to Islamic education. He emphasizes the necessity of considering cultural and religious diversity in education, as well as a deep understanding of Islamic teachings to prevent extremism and conflict. Through the analysis of his written works, this research provides insights into Zainuddin's revolutionary vision of inclusive and multicultural Islamic education. The conclusion underscores the relevance of Zainuddin's thoughts in addressing the challenges of multiculturalism in Islamic education and its implications for building a harmonious society. By promoting an inclusive, dialogic, and tolerant Islamic education, this research offers a significant contribution to the development of the Islamic philosophical paradigm in the context of multicultural education.

The role of citizenship education management in facing the challenges of multiculturalism

Multiculturalism is a complex reality that requires a careful approach in managing citizenship education. This study will focus on how civic education management can effectively manage the challenges that arise due to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity in the educational context. This research aims to investigate the role of civic education management in facing the challenges of multiculturalism in the educational environment. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The results of this research reveal that the implementation of Citizenship Education Management (PPKn) has a positive impact in facing the challenges of multiculturalism. Inclusive curriculum design, teacher training to manage heterogeneous classes, establishing an inclusive school environment, facilitating intercultural dialogue, and ongoing program evaluation have been proven to make significant contributions in shaping student character that is responsive to cultural diversity. The research results show that PPKn is not only a vehicle for conveying civic information, but is also effective as a tool for forming inclusive attitudes, a deep understanding of differences, and adaptability skills in a multicultural society. In conclusion, the holistic implementation of PPKn can have a positive impact on the formation of a generation that has a sense of nationality, love of the country, and is able to become an agent of positive change in an increasingly complex society.

THE APPROACH OF ISLAMIC EDUCATION MANAGEMENT IN FACING GLOBAL CHALLENGES

This research aims to explore appropriate strategies for Islamic education organizations in facing global challenges. The globalization of education has brought major changes in education systems throughout the world, while technological advances, the challenges of multiculturalism, and global competition are some of the key issues faced by Islamic education organizations in facing the dynamics of educational globalization. Therefore, the management of Islamic education organizations must have the skills to face these challenges and maintain high quality in Islamic education. This research utilized a library research approach. Researchers conducted a literature review, observing writings and sources related to the research issue. Data collection was carried out by searching for sources from various media such as books, journals, and related research. Data obtained from literature observations were analyzed using an interactive qualitative approach. The data analysis process includes steps such as data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that an effective approach to facing global challenges involves improving quality, innovation, cooperation, understanding the challenges of multiculturalism, and increasing human resource capacity. These steps are expected to help the management of Islamic education organizations maintain the quality and relevance of education in the face of changes in the globalization of education.

This paper examines the tensions that arise when religious beliefs intersect with the principles of secular governance, highlighting the dilemmas faced by governments in striking a balance between respecting religious freedom and upholding the separation of religions and state. It delves into case studies from various countries, shedding light on the diverse approaches taken to address these challenges and the potential implications for social cohesion, individual rights, and democratic governance. Additionally, the abstract explores the role of dialogue, education, and policy-making in mitigating these challenges and fostering a harmonious multicultural society that respects both religious diversity and the fundamental values of the state. Ultimately, this abstract aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the multifaceted issues surrounding the integration of religion in state policy and invites further research and discussion on this critical aspect of multiculturalism.

Construction and Improvement of Curriculum Civic System Based on Synergy Theory

Abstract This paper first studied the synergistic theory of college and university thinking, then constructed a factor analysis model of the influence of the thinking education environment, established the factor variables, used the rotation method to reduce the dimensionality of the variables and extracted the common factors. After that, the principal component analysis approach is used to calculate the covariance matrix, eigenvalues, and unit eigenvector. The continuous contribution of variance defines the primary components. A structural equation is constructed based on the correlation between potential and observed variables. In the end, the variables that affect the ideological and political climate of higher education are identified, and the educational impact of current college curricula and the possibility of influence of factors that influence them are assessed. The critical ratio of excellent tradition and quality advantage is 5.613. The critical ratio of multicultural challenges was 20.589, all greater than 0. All educational environment influences had a direct path relationship with educational effectiveness.

A Systematic Review of Challenges Experienced by Cross Border Investments in Developing Countries. A Case of Multinational Companies Expanding into The African Region

This paper provides a systematic review of challenges faced by multinational companies in developing countries, in particular the African region. This paper review relevant literature aimed at addressing the research question: “What are the challenges faced by cross border investments as they expand into Africa? The paper discusses the findings and proposes various recommendations to the challenges with the aim of improving the investment environment in developing countries to boost economic activity. Major challenges identified to be impacting cross border investments in developing countries are Political environment, regulatory environment, diversity and multicultural challenges, Leadership, Governance and Economic environment. For the purposes of literature review, the term cross border investments may be interchanged with Multinational Companies. The paper concludes by highlighting areas for future research.

El desafío del multiculturalismo:una visión desde las políticas de integración cultural y la experiencia del Sello Migrante en la comuna de Quilicura

La migración es hoy un fenómeno que se ha convertido en una cues- tión pública, que preocupa a gobiernos, instituciones y a la ciudadanía. El creciente escenario migratorio que se vive hoy en el ámbito internacional y, en particular en Chile, presenta el desafío cultural de la integración de múltiples y diversas culturas, formas de vida, costumbres y modos de relacionarse en las sociedades receptoras. En el presente artículo, se realiza una revisión teórica del estado en que se encuentra el estudio de las políticas públicas de integración cultural y se analiza el caso del Sello Migrante en la comuna de Quilicura. Dicha comuna se ha convertido en uno de los principales destinos de acogida para inmigrantes en la Región Metropolitana, dinamizando el panorama cultural y social diario de la población. Bajo esta pers- pectiva, resulta pertinente ahondar sobre las medidas que se están adoptando en el ámbito local para hacer frente al reto del multiculturalismo.

Designing Medical law in a Multicultural Society: The case of Israeli end-of-life laws

Designing public health policy is one of the challenges that have accompanied the State of Israel throughout its existence. Taking into account the democratic and Jewish aspects of the State of Israel and the nature of Israeli society–multi-ethnic, multicultural, and pluralistic–presents a great challenge in shaping public health policy. These challenges become even greater when within the Jewish internal discourse there are intense controversies regarding many medical issues. This paper aims to characterize the nature of this challenge, then to present two legislative models intended to cope with the multicultural challenge: the uniform law model and the legal pluralism model. The paper examines these models based on two test cases of Israeli health legislation: The Israeli Dying Patient Act (2005) and the Israeli Brain Respiratory Death Act (2008). Both these acts were intended to regulate healthcare policy issues that have been highly contentious in Israeli society, with heated debate between religious-conservative and liberal factions. While both laws were intended to cope with the multi-cultural challenge which characterizes Israeli society, they attempt to do so in different ways, one by creating a uniform law that establishes a compromise between opposing positions, the other by a legal pluralism approach that recognizes the different positions within the legal framework. The paper will analyze the advantages and drawbacks of the two models, concluding with an argument in favor of the legal pluralism approach as an instrument for promoting a multi-cultural public policy.

The Populist Significance of Thomas' “Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night”, and Henley’s “Invictus” in Tarrant's Manifesto "The Great Replacement”

On March 15, 2019, Tarrant committed a crime driven by a specific ideology. He intentionally used Thomas' villanelle “Do Not Go Gentle into that Good Night” to introduce his manifesto and Henley’s “Invictus” to conclude it, both for a reason. Tarrant's concepts of ethnonationalism and ethno-patriotism are suggested by his use of the villanelle, which relates to his idea of the fatherland. During his visit to Europe, Tarrant was alarmed by the number of immigrants he encountered, which fueled his hatred and ultimately led him to carry out his crime. His determination to act is expressed in his choice to include Henley’s “Invictus” in his manifesto. This article aims to identify the metaphands of the metaphiers and their metaphereins in the poems and provide explanations necessary for a better understanding of the metaphands in the context of Tarrant's manifesto, including the significance of father symbolism, the slow destruction of "the father" through birth rate, the importance of four types of men, and Tarrant’s projection of hatred in “Invictus” in response to multicultural challenges.

An analysis of KwaZulu-Natal clinical psychologists’ multicultural experience

In this article, perspectives of South African clinical psychologists (based in KwaZulu-Natal) regarding multicultural issues in clinical practice and training are presented. The discussion focuses on emergent themes from 13 qualitative semi-structured interviews. Themes from interviews were analysed using thematic analysis and techniques from a grounded theory approach. While the study focused on a number of contextual multicultural issues both in service delivery and in training, this article documents the experiences of clinical psychologists regarding multicultural challenges and concerns, as well as approaches and capacities used to improve service delivery in this area. These perspectives are important in the multicultural and multilingual South African context, where there is limited literature in this area as well as related aspects such as cultural competency. There are many different belief systems as well as historical and sociopolitical factors that may influence how clinicians and individuals presenting for treatment may understand their experience and symptoms. This article seeks to document some of the challenges this may present in terms of service delivery in this context. Understandings of the term cultural competence as well as suggestions (primarily as noted by participants) to address the gap between training, competencies, and the realities of service delivery are also presented. Questions and considerations for future research are also raised.

Study on coping strategies for the film industry under the challenge of multiculturalism

In the modern day, films are used in various ways in the society. The films play an important role in the society as they attempt to pass a message to the audience. A successful film is said to have conveyed the intended message to its audience. A film can be interpreted in various ways depending on the viewer’s beliefs and values based on the subject of the film. In the post-WWII European films, multi-cultural interaction makes all kinds of film producers and actors transcend national boundaries in film creation and theme expression, which promotes the film itself to some extent, but at the same time they are faced with multi-cultural challenges. This essay will take study on the coping strategies for the film industry under the challenge of multiculturalism and the film of Skirt Day is selected as an example.

Tantangan Multikulturalisme di Indonesesia dalam Disintegrasi Umat Beragama

Indonesia is a country that is rich in various tribes, beliefs, races, cultures, and customs. This diversity is an important asset to be maintained with tolerance between individuals. Tolerance must also be applied in religious life because religion is the life-breath of the Indonesian people, stated in the first precepts. The existence of tolerance between religious communities in the implementation of holidays and other significant days will reduce the occurrence of social disintegration in society. This study aims to determine the various factors that cause intolerance, one of Indonesia's multicultural challenges, and their solutions. Through a qualitative research method of literature study, this research compares various events based on relevant sources in the main topic of religious tolerance. The research results that found many case studies showed that many factors triggered social conflicts with religious nuances, including cultural, political, and economic factors. In addition, religious factors can also be one of the triggers for conflict between the wider community, leading to social disintegration on the broader community.

TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP FROM THE EDUCATIONAL PARADIGM ON THE PANDEMIC ERA

Background – Changes behavior during a pandemic make the world have to adapt. This condition also occurs in the world of education, where many new habits and procedures are carried out. so the role of leaders is needed in getting through this period. Transformational leadership feels very appropriate in this time of uncertainty and many adaptations. Transformational leadership requires the figure of a leader who is able to show special skills that focus on reform and justice. Purpose – This article aims to understand transformational leadership in the focus of education especially during the pandemic. The world of education must know the right formulation to get through this pandemic so that the next generation of the nation continues to have the opportunity to build their dreams. Design/methodology/approach – This research is a descriptive research with a case study approach. where data is collected based on research observations and in-depth literature studies. Findings – Transformational leadership becomes a bridge between existing theories so it is a valuable asset. Given the diverse needs of individuals, transformational leadership must offer more comprehensive conditions. Research limitations– This research is limited to literature review, so it needs to be developed with more specific research methods and objects so that the results obtained are also more accurate. The selection of research variables can also be redeveloped because there are still many types of leadership in the organization. In addition to leadership, there are also many factors that make up an organization so that further researchers can choose other variables to study. Originality/value – There is not much research on pandemics in the world of education, let alone discussing the role of the leader of an educational institution. With this research, the public knows that the role of the leader of educational institutions is very important in directing their organization to get through this pandemic crisis. how to deal with multicultural challenges, behavior, readiness and achievement demands of school residents in addition to innovating to face the pandemic.

Tantangan Multikulturalisme di Indonesia: Menyoal Relasi Agama dan Ruang Publik

In people's lives a difference in religion, socializing, customs, and habits in carrying out daily activities will always exist. These differences are called diversity. However, not all diversity can be accepted by the whole community, there are also conflicts that arise as a result of these differences. The role of multiculturalism is needed to deal with the problems of differences that exist at this time. The purpose of this journal is to find out what are the challenges of multiculturalism that occur in society on religious and public issues by using library studies or library research as a research method. Many of the multicultural challenges that occur, especially in Indonesia, are related to religious relations and public space. In the challenges in the field of religion, there are many people who are not able to accept the existing differences so that conflicts regarding their respective religions continue to occur. Many people who are religious fanatics take advantage of this situation to divide the unity of Indonesian society for personal or group interests who do not agree with the existence of religious diversity. In addition, the existence of social media, which should be an ease in spreading news or information, is widely misused to spread information that is not yet clear, so that it becomes a big influence for people who read or hear the information.
