Application of Distributed Collaborative Optimization in Building Multi-Energy Complementary Energy Systems

This article investigates the application and physical mechanism exploration of distributed collaborative optimization algorithms in building multi-energy complementary energy systems, in response to the difficulties in coordinating various subsystems and insufficient dynamic control strategies. On the basis of modeling each subsystem, the Dual Decomposition algorithm is used to decompose the global optimization problem of the system into several independent sub problems, achieving independent optimization of each subsystem. Through an adaptive dynamic scheduling strategy, real-time data and predictive information are continuously updated and controlled, effectively allocating system resources. The experimental results show that compared to the original system before optimization, the improved algorithm in this paper reduces the total energy consumption of the system by 6.9% and 2.8% on typical summer and winter days, respectively. The conclusion shows that the algorithm proposed in this paper can effectively solve the problem of system coordination difficulties, improve system resource allocation and overall operation level, and provide a new perspective for the optimization design and operation control of energy systems.

Research on short-term optimization and scheduling of multi-energy complementary systems based on forecast scenario dynamic correction

The inherent unpredictability and instability of renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, hinder the precise execution of power generation plans in complementary systems, posing significant challenges to their integration into power grids. Therefore, this study proposes a dynamic correction method for wind and solar output forecast scenarios in the short-term scheduling of wind-solar-hydro complementary systems. The method utilizes statistical analysis of forecast errors in wind and solar power outputs to characterize uncertainty patterns across different forecast levels and constructs a typical forecast scenario set based on single-day forecasts. This approach probabilistically models each scenario according to the temporal migration patterns of wind and solar power outputs and develops a neural network-based dynamic correction fusion model to refine the forecasts. Application of this method in a case study of the Yalong River Basin demonstrated that, after applying dynamic correction to the forecast scenarios, the mean absolute error in total wind and solar output predictions during the wet and dry seasons was reduced by 50.73 % and 47.95 %, respectively. Additionally, the dynamic correction reduced the maximum residual load on typical wet and dry days by 82.70 % and 62.37 %, respectively, and decreased the total intraday residual electricity by 91.17 % and 73.24 %, compared to single-day forecasts. The study concludes that the proposed dynamic correction method enhances power system stability and improves power generation efficiency and reliability.

Coupling geospatial suitability simulation and life cycle carbon emissions towards uncertain optimization planning for wind-photovoltaic-hydrogen multi-energy complementary system

Building clean and modern multi-energy complementary systems is a direct path to decarbonization in energy sector. The introduction of hydrogen energy with high operational flexibility enables the multi-energy complementary system to fully accommodate renewable energy. The key issues of the optimization planning of the wind-photovoltaic-hydrogen multi-energy complementary system that need to be solved are how to finely characterize the carbon reduction potential of the system, consider the uncertainty of supply and demand in the modeling process, and incorporate the energy supply business of electric vehicles into the planning. This study constructs optimization planning model with the following three progressive stages: geospatial suitability simulation based on geographic information system, uncertainty analysis based on probabilistic scene generation technology, and capacity configuration optimization. Unlike previous studies, this model measures and optimizes the carbon emissions level of the system from a lifecycle perspective. The empirical study results indicate that carbon emissions optimization from the perspective of the entire life cycle would directly affect the system configuration results. From a lifecycle perspective, the carbon emissions accounting result is about 9 times higher than that obtained only during the operation phase. Compared to the traditional distribution system, the carbon emissions of the system constructed in this study decreased by 82.75 %. In addition, considering that the system provides charging services for electric vehicles, which can reduce carbon emissions by about 93.6 % but only increase costs by about 29.4 %. The computational results justify the proposed optimization framework. This study provides optimization models for the system, and the implementation framework can support technical reference for practice.

Capacity configuration of cascaded hydro-wind-photovoltaic complementary systems considering comprehensive benefits based on a synergetic-orderly framework

The rational configuration of hydro-wind-photovoltaic complementary system is fundamental to fully leveraging the regulation capacity of hydropower and the complementarity between different natural resources. However, complementary systems involving cascaded reservoirs often have comprehensive utilization requirements, which current techno-economic frameworks struggle to address. To solve the above issues, this study proposes a novel framework based on the theory of synergetics to determine the optimal capacities for wind and photovoltaic power considering the comprehensive benefits. Firstly, an inner operation model aimed at maximizing overall order degree is established to optimize the system’s operational performance. Secondly, Kolmogorov entropy is utilized in the outer layer to characterize the synergy of different wind and photovoltaic capacity schemes, thereby selecting the one with the best synergistic effect. Additionally, current techno-economic evaluation indicators are introduced to validate the framework’s effectiveness. A case study of the clean energy base on the upper Yellow River was conducted, and the results indicate that: (1) The proposed framework effectively addresses the comprehensive benefits of multiple subsystems and the optimal capacity scheme performs well in economic and technical aspects. (2) Compared to variations in wind and solar resources, inflow conditions and agricultural water demand have a greater impact on the capacity configuration and operational performance. (3) The optimal capacity ratio of hydro to renewable energy in the upper Yellow River is around 1:0.59. Therefore, this study provides important theoretical support for expanding capacity configuration methods in multi-energy complementary systems.

Optimization of multi-energy complementary power generation system configuration based on particle swarm optimization

The multi-energy complementary power generation system, incorporating wind, solar, thermal, and storage energy sources, plays a crucial role in facilitating the coexistence and mutual reinforcement of conventional thermal power and renewable energy. Against the backdrop of evolving power systems and the increasing integration of wind, solar, thermal, and storage technologies, scientifically optimizing the configuration of multi-energy complementary power generation systems has become an essential prerequisite for their sustainable development. This study introduces a dual-layer optimization model for configuring multi-energy complementary power generation systems based on the particle swarm optimization algorithm. The outer layer optimization aims to maximize the net revenue from wind, solar, and storage power generation while the inner layer optimization focuses on minimizing carbon emissions from thermal power units. The proposed approach comprehensively considers both environmental benefits and economic gains of multi-energy complementary power generation systems. Simulation results demonstrate that this method effectively enhances annual net income while significantly reducing carbon emissions by 1.1058 million tons. It establishes a rational capacity configuration scheme that not only improves economic performance but also promotes efficient utilization of clean energy resources. Furthermore, it highlights the advantages of coordinated carbon electricity market trading over traditional modes.

Quantitative assessment methods and qualitative evaluation system for the complementary characteristics of multi-energy

Assessing and analyzing the complementary characteristics of renewable energy (RE) is crucial for designing, operating, and optimizing multi-energy complementary systems (MECSs). However, unified and precise quantitative descriptions of the complementary and stability characteristics among various energy outputs in MECSs have lacked attention and research. Here, this study innovatively proposed a mathematical model for the multi-energy complementarity index (MECI), which considers the complementarity rates of multiple energy outputs during zero and non-zero output periods, and a mathematical model for the multi-energy volatility index (MEVI), which accounts for fluctuation thresholds and the overall volatility of output processes. An evaluation system for multi-energy complementarity characteristics qualitative analysis has been established. The natural output processes of RE at three MECSs in China were applied in the case calculations and verification. Results show that the hydropower rated discharge (Qrating) has a significant negative correlation with MECI, with the MECI decreasing by an average of 0.0046 for every 5 m³/s increase in Qrating. The relationship between the Qrating and MEVI shows an overall negative correlation with local fluctuations. Notably, The MECI of the BeiPan River MECSs exhibits significant seasonal characteristics, with the MEVI in summer (0.378) and autumn (0.395) higher than those in spring (0.132) and winter (0.160), closely related to the natural seasonal variations of the three energy sources: water, wind, and solar. We believe that the study can assist in evaluating and making decisions on the multi-energy complementarity characteristics of RE bases in the future, making a significant contribution to achieving dual carbon goals.

Performance analysis and optimization of multi-energy complementary combined heat and power system considering the influence of time-of-use price

Abstract The multi-energy complementary system can meet the increasingly abundant and diversified energy consumption needs of users and, at the same time, help to improve energy utilization efficiency, reduce environmental pollution, and optimize the balance of energy supply and demand. In this paper, a multi-energy complementary cogeneration system with a gas turbine distributed photovoltaic, gas boiler, and heat storage tank is proposed, and the operation scheduling optimization model of the system is constructed. Aiming to minimize the comprehensive cost of economy and carbon emission, the model adopts a linear programming method to optimize the operation scheduling of multi-energy complementary systems. Taking a multi-energy complementary cogeneration system as an example, the key equipment of the system is optimized under three different scenarios with different time-of-use prices, and the influence of time division of time-of-use electricity price on the comprehensive cost of the system is analyzed. The results show that the time division method, which is more in line with the system net load curve, can effectively reduce the comprehensive cost of the complementary system and increase the consumption space of new energy.

Explorations of Integrated Multi-Energy Strategy under Energy Simulation by DeST 3.0: A Case Study of College Dining Hall

Buildings characterized by high energy consumption necessitate the implementation of efficient multi-energy complementary systems to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction objectives. College dining halls use a lot more electricity than typical residential buildings, despite their relatively small size. The dining hall at the Dongshan Campus of Shanxi University is employed as a representative case study in this research. By utilizing DeST 3.0 software, a comprehensive dynamic load analysis is conducted to estimate the annual energy consumption of the dining hall, with the ultimate goal of an energy-saving system being proposed based on the analysis results. Leveraging DeST 3.0 software, dynamic load characteristics were assessed, revealing an annual energy consumption of 2.39 × 106 kWh for the dining hall. Cooling accounted for 0.91 × 106 kWh, while heating requirements amounted to 0.24 × 106 kWh. These findings illustrate peak power consumption trends, seasonal variations, and potential avenues for energy conservation. To satisfy the heating, cooling, and electricity demands of the dining hall, an integrated energy system incorporating solar and wind energy, as well as utilizing restaurant kitchen garbage as a biomass source, was proposed. This study compares two solar energy utilization systems: photothermal and photovoltaic, with total capacities of 2.375 × 106 kWh and 2.52 × 106 kWh, respectively. The research outcomes underscore that Strategy 2, which integrates a photovoltaic system with wind and biomass energy, emerges as the optimal approach for load management. Ultimately, this investigation demonstrates the feasibility and promise of constructing a hybrid renewable energy system within a college dining hall setting, aligning with sustainability objectives and global trends toward environmentally responsible energy solutions.

A novel exergy-based cost and carbon footprint allocation method in the multi-energy complementary system

Energy efficiency, economic cost and carbon emission of multi-energy complementary systems are three key indicators to sustainable development in the low-carbon background. This paper analyzes the coupling relationships between energy, cost, and carbon emission flows in a combined cooling, heating, and power (CCHP) system. The CCHP system consists of biomass gasification, co-firing internal combustion engine by product gas and natural gas, concentrated photovoltaic thermal solar collector, and absorption heat pump. A novel exergo-carbon method with exergo-economic analyses is proposed to determine the exergy cost and carbon footprint rate of each stream in the CCHP system, and the unit cost and carbon footprint of multiple products of electricity, cold energy and heat energy are obtained by the proposed method. The impacts of co-firing ratio and photovoltaic coverage ratio on energy and exergy efficiencies and cost and carbon footprint of products are analyzed. The sensitivity of biomass carbon footprint is performed to show its influences. The total cost of products including economic and carbon costs, is discussed to guide the carbon market's pricing strategies. Under the design conditions, the unit exergy cost of electricity, chilled water and hot water are 0.1094, 0.7659 and 0.466 $ (kWh exergy)−1, and their unit exergy carbon footprints are 0.3651, 3.9050, and 2.3780 kg CO2-eq (kWh exergy)−1, respectively.

Performance research on multi-energy complementary heating systems in rural areas of China: A mini review

Abstract Winter heating in rural areas has always been an issue of great concern to the State. In China, traditional heating methods mainly use coal-fired boilers or heating stoves, however, coal burning has caused serious environmental pollution and air quality problems. In order to improve heating conditions and reduce environmental pollution, some rural areas have begun to try multi-energy complementary heating (MECH) system, which improves heating efficiency by comprehensively utilizing solar energy, biomass energy, ground source heat pump, air source heat pump (ASHP). However, due to poor economic conditions, the actual operation faces various factors and challenges. In order to solve these problems, this paper provides a systematic review of the research on MECH systems in rural areas in China in recent years. First, it summarizes the existing MECH systems, including various technologies such as solar-ASHP heating, solar-biogas heating, and ground source heat pump-solar heating, and lists their advantages and disadvantages in detail. Secondly, the effects of MECH systems in practical applications are discussed through case studies. Finally, recommendations for promoting MECH technologies are presented to facilitate the development of MECH systems in rural areas. The study contributes to the development of MECH system, which helps to improve rural heating conditions and reduce environmental pollution.

Exergy-water nexus of a multi-energy complementary trigeneration system with different fuel mixture ratios

Complex coupling relationships of energy, exergy and water streams in multi-energy complementary systems due to different characteristics of energy flows are necessarily revealed to determine the intensities of downstream products. This paper proposes a multi-energy complementary trigeneration system driven by biomass, solar energy, and natural gas to generate cooling, heating, and power products. An exergy-water analysis approach, considering energy levels of streams, is adopted to determine the exergy and water footprint intensities per unit energy products. A life cycle assessment method is used to calculate the water footprint of biomass and natural gas as the primary energy sources. The relationship between the exergy and water footprint intensity of the system equipment and output products is presented and discussed with the mixture ratios of natural gas and biomass product gas. Furthermore, the cumulative exergy and water footprint intensity of products are analyzed under different system working conditions, such as mixture ratio of biomass and natural gas and the solar irradiance. When the same mixture volume gas fuels drive the trigeneration system, the overall exergy efficiency is 25.38 % while the efficiency including the upstream cumulative exergy destruction is only 21.93 %. The unit water footprint intensities of power and cooling products based on exergy measurement are 7.12 kg/kWh and 36.32 kg/kWh, respectively. The exergy-water footprint sensitivity of biomass and natural gas on system product intensities are implemented to consider the uncertain variables. When the mixture ratio increases from 0 to 1, the cumulative exergy destruction of system power is declined by 35.62 % under the uncertain ranges of ±50 %. Also, its water footprint is declined by 91.62 %. The proposed model provides an effective tool to reveal the exergy-water nexus and determine the intensities of multi-energy products.

A multi-stage two-layer stochastic design model for integrated energy systems considering multiple uncertainties

Building multi-energy complementary integrated energy systems (IES) is a crucial way to achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. However, uncertainties at both the source and load ends pose particular challenges to the optimal design and operation of the system. This paper proposes a multi-stage stochastic planning model considering CO2, NOx, and SO2 emissions and multiple uncertainties. The k-means algorithm was used to obtain typical scenarios and typical parameters of the reference building. The uncertain scenarios with probability distributions are generated by Latin hypercubic sampling and backward curtailment method. Then, a novel multi-objective sand cat swarm optimization (MOSCSO) algorithm is proposed for solving the upper-layer design model. The lower layer scheduling model is constructed as a mixed-integer linear programming model, and the solver is invoked for optimization. A case study validates the proposed model. Compared to different operating strategies, the two-layer optimization model can achieve a maximum of 13.54 %, 12.38 %, and 21.73 % improvement in economic, energy, and environmental. Compared to electricity price uncertainty, the sensitivity analysis suggests that gas price uncertainty negatively impacts the system. In addition, the two-layer optimization model under a single uncertainty provides the best economic, energy, and environmental compared to the operational strategies.

Optimal operation for district cooling systems coupled with ice storage units based on the per-unit value form

The integration of non-dispatchable renewable resources into the power system, as part of efforts to mitigate carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality, presents a significant problem in maintaining the balance between generation and consumption within multi-energy complementary systems. The widespread adoption of district cooling systems (DCS) with ice storage units has proven to be a highly effective approach for enhancing flexibility by changing the operating schedule or adopting different control strategies to participate in demand response, reducing load peaks or peaking and filling to improve system economy. However, the nonlinearity and the presence of multiple variables with different orders of magnitude of the DCS model pose a significant challenge for arithmetic operations well. The present study establishes models based on per-unit value for DCS coupled with ice storage units, and employes several objective functions to validate the selection of base values, demonstrating the superiority of the calculation process for per-unit value model. Simulation results show that, the adoption of per-unit value models of DCS significantly reduce the calculation time, particularly for large systems where it would be possible to have a reduction in time-consuming by more than 68%. Additionally, this paper suggests an operational strategy for real DCS that incorporates demand response by per-unit value models, demonstrating the efficacy of the proposed approach in achieving a reduction of 11.17% in operating costs, while simultaneously enhancing flexibility to meet the load demands of multi-energy complementary systems.

Comprehensive evaluation of the working mode of multi-energy complementary heating systems in rural areas based on the entropy-TOPSIS model

BackgroundThe establishment of a multi-energy complementary heating system (MECHS) using abundant renewable energy is currently an effective way to solve the rapid growth of heating demands in rural areas. However, coupling schemes for different energy sources have become a critical barrier to the MECHS development. ObjectivesThe entropy-TOPSIS method was used to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of MECHS, which provided a basis for optimizing system operation strategy. MethodsWe built a test platform for MECHS based on solar-biomass-electricity energy in Tumxuk, Northwest China. Frist, six working modes were established according to the system operation control strategy. Second, we constructed the evaluation indexes of MECHS considering energy, environment and economy and determined their weights using entropy weight method. Third, the TOPSIS model was used to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the different working modes to identify optimal energy supply schemes. ResultsOur case study showed that the MECHS operated stably and met the indoor temperature demands of rural houses in cold regions. To maximize the heating efficiency of the system, it is necessary to reduce the types of energy appropriately. Next, based on entropy-TOPSIS model, the recommended order of energy supply mode for heating systems were solar-biomass energy (0.6202), solar-biomass-electric energy (0.6152), solar-electric energy (0.5895), biomass energy (0.4075), biomass-electric energy (0.3680), and electrical energy (0.3603). We found that the optimal energy supply mode was solar-biomass. ConclusionOur results indicated that the entropy-TOPSIS model could provide practical recommendations for the design and operation strategies of MECHS in cold rural areas.

A case study of multi-energy complementary systems for the building based on Modelica simulations

The utilization of renewable energy sources and the development of energy storage technologies have enhanced the interconversion of various energy sources to slow down global warming. The building sector, as the main bearer of energy consumption, is essential for its energy saving and emission reduction. Integrating natural gas-based combined cooling, heating, and power systems with renewable energy generation facilities is an effective solution. For that, different scenarios are designed to provide energy for a specific office building and compared with the current scenario of depending only on the municipal grid. Equipment models for photovoltaic, battery, gas engine, absorption chiller-heater, and electric heat pump are created. The results show that the multi-energy complementary system has better economic and environmental characteristics, with a primary energy ratio of over 80 % and emission reduction of over 17 %; the advantages of configuring the unit capacity to meet the cooling and heating loads for 80 % of the year are obvious, and in this scenario abandoning battery storage has higher economics for users, with a static payback period from 7.3 years to 4.4 years, but the primary energy ratio decreased by 3 % and carbon emissions increased by 7.2 tCO2. It is recommended to consider the principle of gas-electricity complementarity, relying on the combined cooling, heating, and power system to meet part of the loads, with the remaining loads being supplemented by the municipal grid. The installation of batteries should be considered comprehensively based on the price of the batteries and the requirement for energy-saving and emission-reduction.

Optimal Operation Scheduling of Multi-energy Complementary Systems Including Offshore Wind Power

Background: With the rapid development of offshore wind power in China, offshore wind power is accounting for an increasing proportion of the whole installed power generation in China, which put forward higher requirements for operation scheduling of multi-energy complementary systems including offshore wind power. However, existing studies have paid little attention to the complementary output scheduling of multi-energy systems with a high proportion of offshore wind power, this phenomenon is not conducive to the realization of reasonable operation scheduling. Objective: To realize the reasonable operation scheduling of multi-energy systems with a high proportion of offshore wind power. Methods: Firstly, the output characteristics of offshore wind power were analyzed and summarized, and modeling was conducted from the perspectives of time distribution, spatial correlation, volatility and randomness, which would serve as the theoretical basis for subsequent researches. Secondly, the complementary rule among offshore wind power and the multi-energy system was analyzed, and the complementary characteristic index was put forward. Then the safety operation was taken as the constraint, and the two-stage operation model of the integrated energy system was established, which considers the auxiliary service costs. In the first stage, the initial generation scheduling was developed according to the day-ahead forecast values of the offshore wind power; in the second stage, the more accurate intra-day operation scheduling was further achieved by considering the intra-day forecast values of offshore wind power and the day-ahead scheduling results. Costs of rotating reserve capacity could be reduced by correcting the deviation of generating capacity, then the revenue-maximizing scheduling strategies were obtained and the output of the pumped-storage power plants was optimized. Results: The effectiveness of the model proposed in this paper was verified based on the simulation examples. Compared with the traditional scheduling strategy, the scheduling strategy considering auxiliary service cost proposed in this paper can promote the consumption of offshore wind power, reduce the wind curtailment proportion and improve the electricity sales revenues in the end. Conclusion: The research results in this paper provide a reference for the reasonable consumption of multi-energy complementary systems with a high proportion of offshore wind power and improving electricity sales revenues

A review on research and application of multi-energy complementary system containing high proportion of renewable energy based on different attributes

To better understand the latest development of renewable energy systems, recent studies on multi-energy complementary power systems with a high proportion of renewable energy are reviewed in this paper. The connection modes of power grids and economic system analysis are summarized and discussed respectively, putting forward some suggestions on the system design and operation optimization. Firstly, the characteristics and differences between an integrated system and an off-grid system are reviewed, concluding that an integrated system is more reliable and costeffective based on a few case studies. Secondly, the commonly used economic parameters and cost evaluation methods of the hybrid power system are reviewed. Those methods offer crucial tools to optimize the system, and they are able to analyze the system feasibility, enabling the most economical configuration. The results of several cases prove that the hybrid multi-energy system is more economical than the single-energy system. Finally, there are few articles focusing on technical details assessments and environmental impacts, which leaves room for future study.

Multi-Scheme Optimal Operation of Pumped Storage Wind–Solar–Thermal Generation System Based on Tolerable Energy Abandonment

In multi-energy complementary power generation systems, the complete consumption of wind and photovoltaic resources often requires more costs, and tolerable energy abandonment can bring about the more reasonable optimization of operation schemes. This paper presents a scheduling model for a combined power generation system that incorporates pumped storage, wind, solar, and fire energy sources. Through a comparison of schemes, the energy regulation function of the pumped storage power station was verified and analyzed. The CPLEX solver and MOPSO algorithm were employed to solve the daily output of a pumped storage power station in the Gansu region under various scenarios. The incorporation of pumped storage power plants has the potential to provide many benefits, including a reduction in operating expenses by about CNY 1.1163 million, a decrease in carbon emissions by 491.24 t, an enhancement in the stability of thermal power by 2.39%, and an improvement in the combined system capability to absorb additional energy. The correlation between the indicators of the combined system and the penetration rate of renewable energy is non-linearly influenced by changes in the power capacity configuration. Ultimately, the multi-objective optimization computation yields the ideal operational scheme for each power source, taking into account a tolerable energy abandonment mode.

Economy-environment-energy performance evaluation of power to hydrogen and power to methane considering renewable energy generation and carbon capture

Abstract The integration of multienergy complementary systems has become increasingly prevalent to mitigate the waste of renewable energy. As power-to-gas (P2G) technology advances, converting electricity into gas presents a viable solution for bolstering the reliability of power supplies within integrated energy frameworks. P2G plays a pivotal role in harnessing unused renewable resources, such as wind and solar energy, to produce sustainable power. While numerous studies have explored the advancement of P2G, there remains a lack of comprehensive evaluation of its various component subsystems. This research aims to design a renewable energy power system, augmented by gas-fired generation, assessing the collective advantages of both the power-to-hydrogen (P-H) and power-to-methane (P-M) conversion processes within the P2G infrastructure. It is important to note that the economic potential of P-H conversion is currently constrained by cost factors within existing P2G systems. This study takes into account the dynamics of carbon trading, as well as the hydrogen and methane markets, to compare the economic, environmental and energy-specific benefits of P-H and P-M conversions under different power demand scenarios. The goal is to formulate enhanced strategies to optimize P2G deployment in these varied contexts.

Performance analysis of the comprehensive energy system based on active energy storage-discharge technology under time-sharing electricity price operation strategy

Multi-energy complementary comprehensive energy systems based on renewable energy can reliably meet the energy needs of communities and significantly mitigate carbon emissions. This is of paramount significance in the establishment of low-carbon sustainable communities. The effective operation of an integrated energy system necessitates a thorough examination of demand-side load, the dynamic performance of the energy supply system, the configuration of energy storage systems, local electricity pricing policies, and operational or control strategies for the system. It confronts substantial challenges in practical application. Considering the noteworthy performance variations of comprehensive energy systems under diverse demand-side load, fluctuating electricity prices, and various operating modes of energy storage equipment, this paper initially conducts a practical analysis of demand-side load. A comprehensive energy system with multi-energy complementary based on source-load-storage coordination (SLS-CES) model was constructed. From the perspective of system operation strategy, we identify the current electricity consumption pattern in the region, characterized by peak and valley periods. We integrate this information with the time-of-use electricity pricing policy and the equipment within the target area. An operation strategy based on local time-of-use electricity price policy was proposed. An in-depth analysis of the thermal performance, environmental performance, and economic performance of the system in the full-year dimension and typical daily dimension under this operating strategy was conducted. The results show that under this operation strategy, the system's annual net income is 415.90 thousand yuan, of which the system's energy storage battery power supply revenue during peak period reaches 254.40 thousand yuan. The initial investment is 5.03 million yuan, and the static investment payback period is 12.09 years. The annual primary energy saving rate of the system is 36.00%, and the maximum CO2 emission reduction rate is 72.23%. The maximum primary energy saving rates on typical days in winter and typical days in summer are 74.74% and 97.14% respectively. The total annual CO2 emissions were reduced by 5.47 tons and 4.54 tons respectively. Through this study, we found that a system incorporating energy storage equipment, combined with an operation strategy based on electricity price policy, can yield additional economic benefits. This approach helps alleviate peak power supply pressure on the grid and mitigates the challenges associated with the high initial investment in renewable energy systems, all while maintaining good thermal performance and environmental benefits.
