Strengthening character of cultural conservation through an android application containing public history for high school students in Indonesia

Introduction. The cultural heritage passed down by our ancestors to the next generation must be preserved. It is necessary to understand the history of the formation and development of the preservation of this cultural heritage to know its importance. Innovative methods are needed to increase the awareness and understanding of the younger generation regarding the history and conservation of cultural heritage. This research aims to analyze the strengthening of the character of cultural conservation when students learn history using an Android application with public history content. The public history content developed contains historical narratives of Semarang, as shown in videos. Information about the content is compiled using historical methods, including discussions about the importance of understanding historical heritage conservation for a society. Study participants and methods. This research involved 25 students in the experimental class and 25 in the control class to test the effectiveness of the Android application on students' cultural conservation characteristics. This research was conducted at SMA 5 Semarang (a High School) in Central Java Province, Indonesia. This school is one of the schools in the province with intense research activities. This study uses a quantitative research approach with quasi-experimental methods. The statistical method used is the Pearson chi-square test to evaluate the relationships between relevant categorical variables. Results. The results showed that high school students in the experimental group had a higher understanding and appreciation of public history and cultural conservation than students in the control group. The calculation results (χ² = 8,72; α < 0,05) conclude a significant relationship between the use of Android applications and interest in cultural preservation activities. So, the Android application is called DiHistory, developed to increase students' access to information on historical objects or buildings. This application was developed by the Research Center from the History Education Laboratory at Universitas Negeri Semarang, Indonesia. The application is practical in increasing the interest and motivation of high school students to study public history and strive to participate in preserving the local cultural heritage. Practical significance. This research has practical significance in education and cultural preservation in Indonesia. Through the development of the DiHistory application, which contains public history, this research has been proven to strengthen the character of secondary school students by introducing and increasing their understanding of Indonesia's cultural heritage. This research also shows the impact on strengthening character, student involvement, understanding cultural preservation, and increasing awareness. This research combining these aspects, this research has practical significance, which can positively contribute to education, student character, and cultural preservation in Indonesia.

Development of Physics E-Books Assisted by Flipbook and Augmented Reality (AR) to Increase Learning Motivation of High School Students

The initial observation results indicate that students are less active in the learning process and easily give up when faced with tasks deemed difficult. This study aims to describe the feasibility of physics e-books aided by flipbooks and augmented reality (AR), describe students' responses and describe students' learning motivation after the implementation of physics e-books aided by flipbooks and augmented reality (AR). This research is a type of development research using the ADDIE model. Sampling was done using purposive sampling techniques consisting of students from the Eleventh-grade science 3 class at Public High School 7 in Kota Bengkulu. The instruments used were observation sheets, teacher interview sheets, validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and pretest and posttest student learning motivation questionnaires, with data collection techniques including interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. Data were analyzed using quantitative data analysis. The research results show that the feasibility test criteria for physics e-books were obtained with a very good category. Students also responded very well to the developed physics e-books. Based on the analysis of student learning motivation questionnaires using the Gain value, it was found that students experienced an increase in learning motivation after using the developed physics e-books. Therefore, it can be concluded that physics e-books aided by flipbooks and augmented reality (AR) are highly suitable for use as learning media and can enhance students' learning motivation, especially in dynamic fluid materials

고등학생의 자기제시동기와 사회불안의 관계에서 자존감과 자존감 안정성의 영향

Objectives The purpose of this study is to check whether self-esteem and self-esteem stability have a moderating effect on the effect of self-presentation motivation of high school students on social anxiety.
 Methods To this end, 519 men and women from six high schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do were surveyed using the self-presenting motivation scale, youth social anxiety scale, self-esteem scale, and self-esteem stability scale, and correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 18.0 and PROCESS macro 3.3.
 Results First, the research results of this study showed significant correlations between self-presentation motivation, social anxiety, self-esteem, and self-esteem stability. Self-presentation motivation showed a positive correlation with social anxiety, and negative correlation with self-esteem and self-esteem stability. Social anxiety and self-esteem, social anxiety and self-esteem stability showed negative correlations. Self-esteem and self-esteem stability showed a positive correlation. Second, self-presentation motivation, self-esteem, and self-esteem stability directly affected social anxiety of high school students. Third, in the relationship between self-presentation motivation and social anxiety, self-esteem showed a significant moderating effect, and self-esteem stability did not.
 Conclusions Understand the effect of high school students' self-presentation motivation on the occurrence of social anxiety, and use it in counseling scenes by referring to the moderating effect of self-esteem and the characteristics of self-esteem volatility of high school students.

고등학생의 쓰기 지식과 쓰기 동기 수준에 따른 쓰기 능력의 차이 연구

Objectives The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction and content of writing education by studying the difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation of high school students.
 Methods Using the writing knowledge, writing motivation, and writing ability test tools, 135 general high school students based in Busan were tested. Based on the test results, SPSS 29.0 was used to analyze whether the difference between descriptive statistics and means was statistically significant with gender and grade as variables. In addition, the difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation was analyzed, and differences were analyzed partially by gender and grade, and Cohen's d was calculated.
 Results First, the difference in writing knowledge was statistically significant according to gender, and the difference in writing knowledge and writing ability was statistically significant according to grade. There was no significant difference in writing motivation by gender and grade. Second, as a result of analyzing the difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation, there was also a statistically significant difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation for all students. Third, the difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation by gender and grade was significant in the female student group. There was no difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation for male students. In addition, there was a significant difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation in the second grade, and a significant difference in writing ability according to the level of writing motivation in the third grade was revealed. In the first grade, there was no difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation.
 Conclusions First, writing knowledge differs according to gender and grade, but writing motivation is related to individual students' unique characteristics rather than gender and grade differences, so ways to improve writing motivation should be considered. Second, writing ability can be seen as an improvement due to the natural development of students' growth and the accumulation of writing experiences as the grade goes up, so continuous research on writing education should be conducted. Third, the difference in writing ability according to the level of writing knowledge and writing motivation is significant, and the effect size is also more than medium, so an educational plan for the appropriate input and utilization of writing knowledge and writing motivation is needed to improve writing ability.

The Influence of High School Students' Learning Motivation on Learning Burnout

Nowadays, high school education has become more important. However, learning burnout is a problem influencing students' study in many aspects. The study talks about the correlations between learning burnout and learning motivation of high school students in order to correctly comprehend the situation of students and try to find reasonable suggestions and measures to solve the problems. Quantitative research methods are used in the study to not only collect but also analyze the data. Two scales are used to evaluate the situation of 100 testees who are studying in a high school in Yangzhou. The results show that students in high school have a high level of learning burnout and a low level of learning motivation. The learning motivation of students in high school is negatively correlated to learning burnout. Teachers and parents should take measures to stimulate the student's extrinsic and intrinsic motivation in learning.

Hope, childhood experiences, and achievement motivation in high school students: A mixed methods study

AbstractThe aim of the study is to examine the role of childhood experiences and achievement motivation in high school students' hope levels. The quantitative (N = 686, 43.9% females and 56.1% males, aged between 13 and 19; Mage = 16.02, standard deviation = 1.23) and qualitative data of the study, in which enriched design was used, were collected from high school students studying in the Southeast of Turkey. Hierarchical regression was used in the quantitative part of the study and content analysis was carried out in the qualitative part. It is seen that the results in the qualitative analysis part largely coincide with the results in the quantitative part. The results denote that high school students have high hope levels. Also, according to the results, there is a negative, low‐level, and significant relationship between childhood experiences and hope, and a positive and moderately significant relationship between hope and achievement motivation. Although childhood experiences and achievement motivation significantly predict the level of hope, it is concluded that achievement motivation contributes more to the hope‐related variance which is explained. The findings reveal the value of achievement motivation and childhood experiences in understanding adolescents' hope multidimensionally.

The Impact of High School Preparatory Classes on English Achievement, Anxiety, and Motivation

This study aimed to examine the relationship between achievement in language learning, language anxiety, and motivation in high school students who took and did not take preparatory classes. This study used a quantitative method to describe all students’ responses to a list of questions. Ex post facto analysis, a quantitative method design, was used in this study. The study involved 468 students enrolled in the public Anatolian high schools. The data was collected using the Foreign Language Learning Anxiety Scale and the Motivation Scale in English Language Learning. The high school students' English achievement levels were calculated using their end-of-year English grades. The data was analyzed using the T-test, Pearson Correlation, and Regression Analysis. According to the results, preparatory classes motivate students to learn a foreign language. Students who participated in preparatory classes were more inspired than those who did not. Students who took preparatory classes outperformed students who did not take preparatory classes in terms of achievement and achieved more outstanding English-language scores. Moreover, it was revealed that students' anxiety affected their English-language achievement negatively, while motivation increased the achievement of learning English.

Chemistry Motivation of High School Students in Indonesia: Grade Level and Gender Differences

Chemistry motivation is one of the research topics that continues to grow today. This study aims to explore the chemistry learning motivation of high school students in Indonesia with a focus on differences based on gender and student grade. The research method used was a cross-sectional survey using an adapted questionnaire from the Chemistry Motivation Questionnaire II (CMQ II). The research sample consisted of 753 high school students from 9 schools in Yogyakarta and Bengkulu. The results of the validity and reliability analysis of the instrument showed that the CMQ II questionnaire used in this study was valid and reliable. The five dimensions of chemistry learning motivation measured through 25 question items are intrinsic motivation, self-efficacy, self-determination, career motivation, and grade motivation. The two-way ANOVA test was used to analyze significant differences in students' chemistry learning motivation based on gender and grade between populations. The results of quantitative data analysis also show that the interaction between gender and class has a significant difference with a significance level of 0.003, which means that there is a significant difference in students' chemistry motivation based on gender and class.

The Influence of Augmented Reality (AR) on the Motivation of High School Students

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology whose presence has increased in the field of education in recent years. However, its role in secondary education has not been thoroughly explored. Therefore, this research aims to analyse the influence of AR on the motivation of students at this stage while considering gender and previous information and communication technology (ICT) experience. This research uses a quantitative methodology that follows Keller’s Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction (ARCS) motivational model. We implemented this instructional design model for a sample of 321 students from the same educational centre. They were divided into two categories: an experimental group (n = 159) and a control group (n = 162). The control group were studied in a slide-based learning environment, while the experimental group worked with an AR mobile application. For data collection, we used the Instructional Materials Motivation Survey (IMMS). The results showed that the students who used AR displayed greater motivation, highlighting great interest in the integration of this technology into the learning process. However, no significant differences were obtained in the motivation of the students according to gender and previous experience with the use of ICT. In conclusion, this research shows that the use of AR improves motivation in secondary education.

Investigations of the Relationship Between Emotion and Students Motivation in Chinese High School

There have been many studies examining the relationship between emotion and motivation, but many questions about the relationship between anxiety and motivation in high school students remain unanswered. This paper will discuss the close connection between anxiety and high school students motivation. First, this paper will introduce what is anxiety and the production process of anxiety from a psychological view. Second, divide anxiety into several levels to explain the influence of anxiety on students' learning motivation, such as mild anxiety, severe anxiety, and excessive anxiety. Third, we will discuss motivation, learning motivation, the classify of motivation, and the connection between motivation and learning. Last but not the least, when anxiety inevitably appears, how should students control anxiety and even how use anxiety to make themselves more motivated to study, this is also the main goal of this discussion.

A Research on Mathematical Epistemological Beliefs and Mathematics Motivation of High School Students

"This research aimed to investigate the relationship between mathematical epistemological beliefs and the mathematics motivation of high school students. The survey model was employed in the research. Four hundred twenty-four high school students constitute the study group from public high school. Data were collected through the “Mathematics-Oriented Epistemological Belief Scale” and the “Mathematics Motivation Scale.” The Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis H tests were used to analyze the data. The findings showed a significant positive relationship at a moderate level between the belief that learning depends on effort with motivation, a weak and negative significant relationship between the belief that learning depends on ability with motivation and a negative and insignificant relationship between the belief that there is only one truth with motivation. The mathematical epistemological beliefs and mathematical motivations of high school students differ statistically in terms of gender, mother's education level, and daily studying time. However, they do not differ statistically regarding out-of-school support, technology, internet use, class level, father's education level, or perceived income level."

Investigating the effect of Iranian studies course on increasing the motivation of Tehran International High School students to travel in Iran

Tourism is a dynamic science that drives and motivates the education of many sciences, especially humanities and cultural affairs. One of the characteristics of this industry is Iranian studies, which due to the beginning of its teaching in Tehran International School, is an attempt to investigate the effect of teaching this subject on the motivation of high school students to Iranian studies and to identify the priorities of them about travel in Iran. This research was conducted in the international and Adaptive high school of Tehran and the data collection tool was an interview form and a questionnaire. The research method is quantitative-qualitative and the results of data analysis show that Iranian and non-Iranian students were most popular in food tourism and visiting historical attractions. From their point of view, they pay attention to tangible heritage such as historical sites and museums. Intangible heritage such as food, clothing and handicrafts should be prioritized.

The Effect of The Use of Android Applications on Increasing the Motivation of SMA Students on Plantae Materials

The use of android applications as Plantae teaching materials is currently a trend in science education research. This study aims to determine the effect of using android applications as teaching materials in increasing the motivation of high school students on Plantae material. The research design used is posttest-pretest-control group design. The subject of the study was SMAN 1 Panombeian Panei, precisely in Simalungun Regency, which consisted of one experimental class and one control class. Collecting data using a learning motivation questionnaire with a Likert. The data obtained were analyzed for the gain to determine the increase in learning motivation of high school students. The results showed that the use of android applications as Plantae teaching materials can have a significant effect on increasing high school students' learning motivation

Effects of Playing Music during PE on Intrinsic Motivation of Students

The aim of this study was to investigate whether playing music during PE lessons had an impact on the intrinsic motivation of high school students, including enjoyment, competency, freedom of choice and stress. Using a mixed method approach, intrinsic motivation of 40 students (25 girls, 15 boys) was surveyed. The Intrinsic Motivation Inventory was combined with a focus group discussion to collect pupils’ and teacher’s perceptions. Data analysis showed motivation scores to be significantly better during PE with music than PE without music. This difference was also reflected for joy or interest, with pupils experiencing more joy during PE with music. Students reported feeling more enthusiastic with music, which gave them more energy; they participated with higher motivation and had more fun. In addition, the combination of increased concentration and self-confidence resulted in higher competence scores during PE with music. No significant differences were found for freedom of choice and stress in either condition. It can be concluded that playing music during PE positively influences students’ intrinsic motivation. More specifically, the influence of music is mainly found in increased students’ perception of enjoyment, interest and sense of competence. The findings of this study should be the impetus for PE teachers to implement music more often.

치기공과 재학생들의 전공선택 동기, 전공만족도, 진로정체감과의 관계

Objectives The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between major selection motivation, major satisfaction, and career identity of students of dental laboratory technology, and to identify the relationship between these variables, and to understand the effect on major satisfaction and career identity.
 Methods From August 29 to September 30, 2022, the survey was conducted on 120 male and female students of dental laboratory technology in the Jeonbuk region. The collected data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistic ver. 22.0 statistical program. Descriptive statistics, independent t-test, 1-Way ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis were performed to analyze the data.
 Results The average score for major selection motivation was 3.07, major satisfaction was 3.71, and career identity was the lowest at 2.81. As for the sub-factor of major selection motivation, extrinsic motivation(3.19) was higher than intrinsic motivation(3.01), and the sub-factors of major satisfaction were relationship satisfaction(3.97), subject satisfaction(3.92), and general satisfaction(3.57). cognitive satisfaction(3.43), in order. Major selection motivation showed a significant difference according to the grade(p<.05) and person who influenced the choice of department(p<.05), and major satisfaction showed a significant difference according to gender(p<.01). There was a significant positive(+) correlation between major selection motivation and major satisfaction(r=.445, p<.001), and major selection motivation and career identity(r=.227, p<.05), respectively. Intrinsic motivation(β=.043, p<.001), a sub-factor of major selection motivation, have a 19.5%(Adj R2=.195) explanatory power for major satisfaction.
 Conclusions It is necessary to establish a positive impression of the profession by providing students with accurate information about dental technicians. In addition, since intrinsic major selection motivation affects major satisfaction, efforts are needed to increase the intrinsic motivation of high school students who are the parties to major selection.

House of Chemistry as a Hydrocarbon Learning Media for High School Students

The purpose of this study was to evaluate House of Chemistry game as a Hydrocarbon learning media able to enhance the motivation of high school students. The study was conducted on high school students in East Java Indonesia and determined randomly in two classes each as a control group and experimental group. Before learning is done the initial test then learning according to plan using the available media in the class for the control group and the experimental group with the game House of Chemistry as learning media, after the learning is done the final test, motivation questionnaire, and student response questionnaire. The results of the data obtained in the experimental group: (a) student learning motivation of 94.5%; (b) scores on student learning outcomes achieving classical completeness; there is an increase compared to before learning; learning outcomes score is better than the control group learning outcomes score; (c) student responses obtained 90.6%; (d) there is a relationship of 0.437 between motivation and student learning outcomes scores. It was concluded that hydrocarbon learning using the game House of Chemistry as a learning media had a positive impact on student learning motivation, there was an increase in student learning outcomes, and the experimental group learning scores were better than scores of students' control groups giving positive responses and positive correlation between motivation and student learning outcomes

The research goal is to study the development of volitional self-regulation among schoolchildren with an increased level of anxiety at the stage of career choice. In research, we use Questionnaire for collecting and summarizing information about students' professional choice, Phillips’ School Anxiety Scale, V.I. Morosanova's self-regulation behavior style questionnaire, Methodology for diagnosing the type of school motivation in high school students. The purpose of the research is to study school anxiety in modern adolescents at the stage of professional self-determination, features of volitional self-regulation and its development as a result of a cycle of classes with schoolchildren of 9th and 11th grades. The object of the research is the personality characteristics of adolescents, namely general anxiety, motivation, volitional self-regulation. The subject of the research is anxiety, motivation and volitional self-regulation of adolescents at the stage of professional choice before and after the Program for the development of volitional self-regulation and the basics of professional self-determination. The Program allowed to reduce the indicators of general anxiety among senior students and to increase the indicators of the general level of self-regulation to a high level in most senior students, as well as to reduce the number of senior students who have not decided on a career choice. In the future, it is planned to finalize and test the Program in the student environment, as the issue of career choice remains relevant among students.

Эмпирическое исследование экологичности поведения старшеклассников в контексте субъект-средовых взаимодействий

Due to the climate change and the rising levels of stress in the society, a comprehensive study of the sustainable behavior of high school students is of particular relevance, not only in relation to the environment, but also to their interaction with the others. The purpose of the research is to study the sustainable behavior of high school students in relation to the environment and to other people. The hypothesis is twofold: 1) a higher level of environmental motivation of high school students will correspond to a higher level of their pro-sustainable behavior in everyday life; 2) a higher level of high school students’ ability of self-governance in interaction will correspond to a higher level of their prosustainable behavior in everyday life. The sample of the research comprises 10th and 11th high school graders (N = 145; male = 38%, female = 62%, average age 16.8 years, SD = 0.62 years) from two Russian cities: Vladimir (n = 70) and Samara (n = 75). The following methods were used: “Selfreport questionnaire of pro-sustainable behavior in everyday life” (I. V. Kryazh, K. A. Andronnikova) was used to assess the level of sustainable behavior of high school students in everyday life; the subtest “Environmental motivation” from the “Questionnaire of ecological consciousness” (M. O. Mdivani) was utilized to diagnose the environmental motivation; the methodology “Study of the ability of self-governance in interaction” (N. P. Fetiskin, V. V. Kozlov, G. M. Manuilov) was used to assess high school students’ ability of self-governance in interaction. In general, a low level of sustainable behavior was shown by 16% of the high school students, 63% of them demonstrated an average level, a high level was shown by 21% of the high school students. At the same time, 8% of the high school students showed a low level of pro-sustainable behavior, and 48% of them showed a high level of pro-sustainable behavior. While 41% of the high school students showed a low level of environmental motivation, and only 6% of them showed a high level. This discrepancy in the results of pro-sustainable behavior and environmental motivation is explained by social-desirability bias when evaluating pro-sustainable behavior. No significant differences were found between the data of high school students living in Vladimir and Samara. Gender differences were found only for the data on pro-sustainable behavior in everyday life. A statistically significant correlation between pro-sustainable behavior and environmental motivation was established. No such connection was found between pro-sustainable behavior and self-governance in interaction. This may indicate that the students do not have enough skills and motivation to build subject-collaborative and subject-engaging interactions in relation to the environment. The results indicate the need for a broader understanding of the sustainable behavior of high school students, namely, that the behavior should be eco-friendly not only in relation to the surrounding nature, but to the surrounding people.

Hubungan Antara School Wellbeing dengan Motivasi Belajar Pada Siswa SMA Y di Makassar

Schools have an important role in the development of the mindset and mentality of students. Students who feel prosperous studying at school can foster their enthusiasm for learning. This study aims to determine the relationship between well-being at school or school well-being with learning motivation in high school students in Makassar. The research method used in this study is a quantitative method by conducting the Spearman correlation test. Sampling used a purposive sampling technique, where the criteria for the subjects in this study were students of SMA Negeri Y Makassar and aged 15-18 years. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire scale via Google Form. The distribution of the scale via Whatsapp social media to students of SMA Negeri Y Makassar on 21 – 24 May 2022. The results of this study show that school well-being has a correlation of 0.696 with learning motivation in SMA Negeri Y Makassar and a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. Thus it can be concluded that there is a relationship between school wellbeing and learning motivation in students at SMA Negeri Y Makassar. The implication of this research is that it is hoped that students will gain positive experiences while studying at school which is manifested in positive and prosperous assessments of students towards their schools or school wellbeing so that students can participate in the learning process happily and prosperously.

Investigating the Relationship between School Culture and Academic Enthusiasm with Academic Hope and Motivation in High School Students

Abstract: Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between school culture and academic enthusiasm with academic hope and motivation in high school students. Research methodology: The present study is applied in terms of purpose and is among the descriptive studies of correlation type. The statistical population includes all high school students in Zahak city,whose number in the academic year 2021-2022 is 1324 people.Using Morgan table and Cochran's formula, 297 students were selected by statistical random sampling as a statistical sample.To prevent statistical sample loss and better adequacy, a sample of 320 questionnaires was distributed by multi-stage random cluster sampling method. Results: The results of the analysis showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between academic motivation and students' academic enthusiasm.The intensity of this relationship is very strong and academic motivation has the power to predict academic enthusiasm. There is no significant relationship between school culture and academic motivation and school culture does not have the power to predict academic motivation. Limitations: What should be considered by school parents is to pay attention to creating a correct and flexible culture in school, because each student spends more than half of his time in school and is exposed to school relationships and culture, and these relationships over time. Contribution: Among the limitations of the research are the lack of sufficient scientific content around the research variables,the lack of cooperation of some schools in the implementation of the questionnaire and the limitation in the generalizability of the results of this research.
