Nanoscale Dodecahedral and Fullerene-Type Organoboroxine and Borazine Cages from Planar Building Units.

Boroxine- and borazine-cage analogs to C20, C60, and C70 were calculated and compared in terms of structure, strain indicators, and physical properties relevant to nanoscale applications. The results show C60 and C70 type cages are less strained than the smaller congener, primarily due to minimized bending in the B-arylene-B segments. The smallest cage calculated has a diameter of 2.4 nm, which increases up to 4.9 nm by either variation of the polyhedron (C20 < C60 < C70-type cage) or organic spacer elongation between boron centers. All calculated cages are porous (apertures ranging from 0.6 to 1.9 nm). Molecular electrostatic potential and Hirshfeld population analysis revealed both nucleophilic and electrophilic sites in the interior and exterior cage surfaces. HOMO-LUMO gaps range from 3.98 to 4.89 eV and 5.10-5.18 eV for the boroxine- and borazine-cages, respectively. Our findings provide insights into the design and properties of highly porous boroxine and borazine cages for nanoscience.

Quantum Chemical-Based Investigations and Lipophilicity Evaluations on Some Structurally Related Quinazoline Derivatives

This work was chiefly conceived to explore the substituent effects on thermodynamic, electronic and lipophilic characteristics of some quinazoline derivatives (Q1-Q4) from theoretical aspects. The variations caused by methyl, ethyl, chlorine and bromine substituents on the same carbon of the aromatic ring were evaluated with a computational approach. In accordance with this purpose, simultaneously, DFT-based calculations were performed for vacuum and two different surroundings (DMSO and water) on methaqualone (Q1), etaqualone (Q2), mecloqualone (Q3), and mebroqualone (Q4) compounds by using the B3LYP functional and 6-311++G(d, p) split-valence triple zeta basis set.  The computed thermodynamic quantities revealed that the halogen substitution was more preferable. The effect of substituent modification on electrostatic surface features was evaluated visually by molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) mapping technique. To shed light on the chemical reactivity behaviors of the Q1-Q4, DFT-based reactivity identifiers were computed. Also, the intramolecular interactions affected by substitution were evaluated on the basis of the Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) theory. The NBO results revealed that π-π* interactions predominate for each compound. The lipophilic character analyzes of the mentioned compounds were evaluated both numerically and visually. The data of both methods support each other.

Bifonazole caffeate: The first molecular salt of bifonazole with enhanced biopharmaceutical property based on experiments and quantum chemistry research

In order to make novel breakthroughs in molecular salt studies of BCS class-IV antifungal medication bifonazole (BIF), a salification-driven strategy towards ameliorating attributes and aiding augment efficiency is raised. This strategy fully harnesses structural characters together attributes and benefits of caffeic acid (CAF) to concurrently enhance dissolvability and permeability of BIF by introducing the two ingredients into the identical molecular salt lattice through the salification reaction, which, coupled with the aroused potential activity of CAF significantly amplifies the antifungal efficacy of BIF. Guided by this route, the first BIF-organic molecular salt, BIF-CAF, is directionally designed and synthesized with satisfactorily structural characterizations and integrated theoretical and experimental explorations on the pharmaceutical properties. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction resolving confirms that there is a lipid-water amphiphilic sandwich structure constructed by robust charge-assistant hydrogen bonds in the salt crystal, endowing the molecular salt with the potential to enhance both dissolvability and permeability relative to the parent drug, which is validated by experimental evaluations. Remarkably, the comprehensive DFT-based theoretical investigations covering frontier molecular orbital, molecular electrostatic potential, Hirshfeld surface analysis, reduced density gradient, topology, sphericity and planarity analysis strongly support these observations, thereby allowing some positive relationships between macroscopic properties and microstructures of the molecular salt can be made. Intriguingly, the optimal properties, together with the stimulated activity of CAF markedly augment in vitro antifungal ability of the molecular salt, with magnifying inhibition zones and reducing minimum inhibitory concentrations. These findings fill in the gaps on researches of BIF-organic molecular salt, and adequately exemplify the feasibility and validity by integrating theoretical and experimental approaches to resolve BIF’s problems via the salification-driven tactic.

Systematic improvement of empirical energy functions in the era of machine learning.

The impact of targeted replacement of individual terms in empirical force fields is quantitatively assessed for pure water, dichloromethane (CH Cl ), and solvated K and Cl ions. For the electrostatic interactions, point charges (PCs) and machine learning (ML)-based minimally distributed charges (MDCM) fitted to the molecular electrostatic potential are evaluated together with electrostatics based on the Coulomb integral. The impact of explicitly including second-order terms is investigated by adding a fragment molecular orbital (FMO)-derived polarization energy to an existing force field, in this case CHARMM. It is demonstrated that anisotropic electrostatics reduce the RMSE for water (by 1.4 kcal/mol), CH Cl (by 0.8 kcal/mol) and for solvated Cl clusters (by 0.4 kcal/mol). An additional polarization term can be neglected for CH Cl but further improves the models for pure water (by 1.0 kcal/mol) and hydrated Cl (by 0.4 kcal/mol), and is key for solvated K , reducing the RMSE by 2.3 kcal/mol. A 12-6 Lennard-Jones functional form performs satisfactorily with PC and MDCM electrostatics, but is not appropriate for descriptions that account for the electrostatic penetration energy. The importance of many-body contributions is assessed by comparing a strictly 2-body approach with self-consistent reference data. Two-body interactions suffice for CH Cl whereas water and solvated K and Cl ions require explicit many-body corrections. Finally, a many-body-corrected dimer potential energy surface exceeds the accuracy attained using a conventional empirical force field, potentially reaching that of an FMO calculation. The present work systematically quantifies which terms improve the performance of an existing force field and what reference data to use for parametrizing these terms in a tractable fashion for ML fitting of pure and heterogeneous systems.

Synthesis, characterization, and comprehensive computational analysis of aromatic hydrazone compounds: Unveiling quantum parameters, evaluating antioxidant activity, and investigating molecular docking interactions

This study presents a synergistic approach encompassing experimental synthesis, computational analysis, and antioxidant activity evaluation of two aromatic hydrazone compounds, namely 4-[(2E)-2-(2-nitrobenzylidene) hydrazinyl] benzoic acid (NBHZ) and 4-[(2E)-2-(2-hydroxybenzylidene) hydrazinyl] benzoic acid (HBHZ). Efficient synthesis yielded impressive quantities (70 % and 58 %, respectively), and structural characterization employed IR, UV–Vis, and NMR spectroscopy. Antioxidant potential was assessed using the DPPH free radical scavenging assay, revealing distinct capabilities of NBHZ and HBHZ, each featuring a nitro (NO2) and a hydroxy (OH) group, respectively, at the ortho position. HBHZ exhibited superior efficacy (IC50 = 1.15 μg/mL) compared to NBHZ (IC50 = 2.1 μg/mL) and the standard antioxidant BHT (IC50 = 1.83 μg/mL). Computational analyses using Gaussian 09 at the B3LYP/6–311 G(d,p) level elucidated electronic characteristics, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), HOMO-LUMO energies, and global reactivity descriptors. VEDA 4 further investigated vibrational behavior and potential energy distribution (PED), topological analyses electron localization function (ELF), localized orbital locator (LOL), average localized ionization energy (ALIE), and reduced density gradient (RDG) were identified to evaluate their interactions. Thermochemical parameters explored antioxidant mechanisms (hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), single electron transfer–proton transfer (SET–PT), and sequential proton loss electron transfer (SPLET)). Molecular docking via iGEMDOCK revealed binding interactions with the target NADPH oxidase. These findings not only provide insights into the compounds' antioxidant potential but also underscore the impact of specific molecular features on their properties. This integrated approach contributes to advancing the understanding of hydrazone compounds, guiding the design of materials with tailored functionalities for applications in oxidative stress mitigation.

Spectroscopic characterization, DFT, antimicrobial activity and molecular docking studies on 4,5-bis[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-1H,1'H-2,2'-biimidazole

The newly synthesized imidazole derivative namely, 4,5-bis[(E)-2-phenylethenyl]-1H,1’H-2,2’-biimidazole (KA1), was studied for its molecular geometry, docking studies, spectral analysis and density functional theory (DFT) studies. Experimental vibrational frequencies were compared with scaled ones. The reactivity sites were determined using average localized ionization analysis (ALIE), electron localized function (ELF), localized orbital locator (LOL), reduced density gradient (RDG), Fukui functions and frontier molecular orbital (FMO). Due to the solvent effect, a lower gas phase energy gap was observed. The utilization of the noncovalent interaction (NCI) method the hydrogen bond interaction, steric effect and Vander Walls interaction were investigated. Molecular docking simulations were employed to determine the specific atom inside the molecules that exhibits a preference for binding with protein. The parameters for the molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) and global reactivity descriptors were also determined. The thermodynamic characteristics were determined through calculations employing the B3LYP/cc-pVDZ basis set. Antimicrobial activity was carried out using the five different microorganisms like Escherichia. coli, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus. aureus, Klebsiella. pneumoniae and Candida albicans.

Synthesis, Crystal Growth, Structural Characterization, Supramolecular Chemistry, and Theoretical Calculations of Methylenium Salts of Benzenesulfonates

AbstractThe current investigation describes the synthesis of four novel methylene blue (MB) salts of benzene sulfonate derivatives, featuring bulky anionic groups. The process involves treating chloride salt of MB with sodium salts of 4‐aminobenzene sulfonate, 4‐styrenebenzene sulfonate, 3,7‐naphthalene disulfonate, and anthraquinone‐1,5‐naphthalene disulfonate to substitute the chloride ion with benzoate sulfonate anion in MB‐chloride. The synthesis includes quaternizing MB‐chloride with the corresponding benzene sulfonate in minimal aqueous solvent to promote precipitation. The resultant precipitates were subsequently dissolved in an appropriate solvent to enable the crystallization of the ultimate product. The dissolution occurs either at ambient temperature or with heat. The crystals of the resultant salts were characterized using various analytical techniques like UV‐visible, and FT‐IR spectroscopy, TGA, single crystal X‐ray diffraction and powder X‐ray diffraction analysis. The UV‐visible spectroscopic results, frontier molecular orbital, density of states, molecular electrostatic potentials, and HOMO‐LUMO energy gaps were estimated by DFT. Structural analysis revealed that supramolecular structure of compounds achieved stabilization through electrostatic interactions, a diverse range of both conventional and non‐conventional hydrogen bonds, π–π stacking interactions, and other short‐range interactions. The investigation delves into intricate details and offers a thorough discussion of the fundamental principles that contribute to the formation and stabilization of supramolecular structures.

Synthesis and Characterization of Hexahydropyrimidines and Their New Derivatives

Three new hexahydropyrimidine derivatives 1a – 1c were successfully synthesized using the Mannich-type reaction. Furthermore, the synthesis of three amino bases 2a – 2c was achieved through the reduction reaction of pyrimidine compounds using hydrazine, followed by the substitution reaction of nitro groups at diverse positions. Subsequently, one of the synthesized amino base derivatives 2c underwent conversion into seven Schiff bases 3a – 3g via a condensation reaction involving the aforementioned amino base derivative and a selection of benzaldehyde derivatives. Four amide compounds 4a – 4d have been synthesized by a reaction of the secondary amine group in the pyrimidine ring with benzoyl chloride. The products were subjected to comprehensive characterization employing rigorous analytical techniques, including FT-), 1H-NMR (Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy), and LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry). Additionally, the Molecular Electrostatic Potential (MEP) study was carried out to further investigate the properties of the synthesized compounds. The yields of the three methods used to synthesise new hexahydropyrimidine derivatives varied depending on the specific substituents added to the aromatic ring.

Experimental and Theoretical Rotational Diffusion Studies of 7DM4M1M1,8, N-2(1H)-one and 7A4T2H1B-2-one in Series of Alcohol Solvents: Stoke's-Einstein-Debye and Alavi-Waldeck Models.

Rotational diffusion studies of two solutes 7-(dimethylamino)-4-methoxy-1-methyl-1,8-naphthyridin-2(1H)-one (7DM4M1M1,8, N-2(1H)-one) and 7-amino-4-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-1-benzopyran-2-one (7A4T2H1B-2-one) having equal volumes but different chemical natures are studied in series of alcohol solvents at 303K using steady-state methods. HOMO-LUMO, Electron density, Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), etc., are obtained from computational calculations using Gaussian 09 software. Rotational reorientation times of 7DM4M1M1,8, N-2(1H)-one solute molecule is found to be less than 7A4T2H1B-2-one solute molecule indicates it rotates slowly in chosen solvents. Stoke's-Einstein-Debye (SED) model with stick boundary conditions for the 7A4T2H1B-2-one solute molecule is modeled to describe mechanical friction. Polar solutes along with mechanical friction also experience dielectric friction. Both these frictions being non-separable, the Alavi-Waldeck (AW) model is studied for dielectric friction contribution to the total friction solute experiences in solvents. AW model effectively explains the observed dielectric friction in alcohol solvents.

DFT Calculations, Molecular Docking, and Pharmacological Properties Investigation for 5-Benzoxazolecarboxylic Acid as a Target Anti-Cancer Agent

In this study, the electronic properties of the 5-Benzoxazolecarboxylic acid molecule, a benzoxazole derivative, were calculated at the DFT/B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level of theory. Electronic properties and chemical reactivity of the optimized structure, such as Frontier molecular orbital (FMO), global and chemical reactivity descriptors, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), and charge analyses (APT, Hirshfeld, and NBO), were investigated. Also, electronic properties are supported by electron localization function (ELF) and localized orbital locator (LOL) analyses. Toxicity effects such as mutagenic, tumorigenic, irritant, reproductive effect, and physicochemical properties such as druglikeness and drugscore were investigated. Molecular docking studies were conducted with the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor VEGFR-2 and the PARP-2 inhibitor, which is involved in many critical cellular processes, including DNA single-stranded fracture repair and cell death control, and its effectiveness in cancer treatment was investigated.

Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), thermodynamic properties and spectral analysis of methyl orange doped L–lysine sulfate (MLLS) semi organic crystals

AbstractSemi organic compounds enable several structural and bonding methods for the molecular engineering of novel materials. The optical analysis, methyl orange doped L‐lysine sulfate (MLLS) is an innovative NLO material enabling the rate of frequency up change for stronger systems with lasers in the UV range with clear absorption. With this experimental studies the theoretical studies of the L‐lysine sulfate and its molecules were studied using Gaussian09w software. X‐ray analysis, UV, FTIR, NMR, Mulliken Charges, HOMO‐LUMO, MEP and some related thermodynamic properties were studied. The chosen nucleophilic site is symbolized by the color red, the more popular electrophilic site has been highlighted during MEP mapping. Spectroscopical and thermodynamical properties related to functional behavior of molecules were also discussed with obtained results.

Amplifying the nonlinear optical response of sunflower-like C16S8 through superhalogen doping

Superhalogens, known for their higher electron affinity compared to halogens, exhibit a unique ability to accept electrons from any electron donor specie. Leveraging this property, the doping of superhalogens onto electron-rich surfaces has emerged as a potent approach to augment nonlinear optical (NLO) response. Herein, we investigated the doping of beryllium trifluoride (BeF3), calcium trifluoride (CaF3) and magnesium trifluoride (MgF3) superhalogens on thia[8]circulene (C16S8) sunflower through density functional theory (DFT) calculations, to observe the improvement in the NLO response of resultant complexes. The study explores the thermal stability of complexes through interaction energy analysis, revealing robust structural properties. Conducting properties of the resultant complexes are examined via frontier molecular orbitals (FMOs) analysis, demonstrating notable changes. Molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) and Fukui function analyses gave an idea about the reactivity of the pure C16S8 and superhalogen doped C16S8 complexes. To quantify the NLO response, we assessed the first hyperpolarizability (β o) via comprehensive analysis. Remarkably, the MgF3@C16S8 complex reflects the highest hyperpolarizability value (1.85 × 104 au), signifying its exceptional NLO enhancement potential. Ultra-violet visible (UV–vis) analysis illustrated the increase in the wavelengths (red shift) of C16S8 complexes after doping of superhalogen. To elucidate the underlying factors contributing to the improved NLO response, a rationalization is provided through a two-level model.

Exploring the adsorption of five emerging pollutants on activated carbon: A theoretical approach

The identification and management of contaminants of emerging concern (CECs) in water systems is crucial for protecting public and environmental health. This paper reports a theoretical approach to studying the adsorption of five CECs: Atrazine (ATZ), Caffeine (CAF), Carbamazepine (CBZ), Sulfamethoxazole (SMX), and Ibuprofen (IBU) - onto Activated Carbon (AC). A set of computational methods, including electrostatic molecular potential maps, conceptual density functional theory, Fukui functions, thermodynamic analysis, and tight-binding molecular dynamics simulations, were employed to analyze the electronic/energetic interactions and mechanisms involved in the adsorption of CECs on AC. The theoretical methodology offered valuable predictions on reactivity sites, stability, and binding mechanisms. Results showed that adsorption primarily occurred through non-covalent interactions like π-π electron donor-acceptor interactions, van der Waals forces, and hydrophobic interactions. Thermodynamic properties suggested the adsorption process was spontaneous and exothermic. However, for the AC/SMX system, the Gibbs free energy reveals that adsorption may be unfavorably compared to the other study systems. Molecular dynamics simulations validated the kinetic stability in the following order CAF (0.13 Å)>CBZ (0.23 Å)>ATZ (0.75 Å)> IBU (1.28 Å)>SMX (1.54 Å). This exploratory theoretical study provides a deep understanding of the interactions between AC and five CECs, aiding in the rational design and optimization of AC-based treatment systems for environmental and industrial applications.

Halogen Bond via an Electrophilic π-Hole on Halogen in Molecules: Does It Exist?

This study reveals a new non-covalent interaction called a π-hole halogen bond, which is directional and potentially non-linear compared to its sister analog (σ-hole halogen bond). A π-hole is shown here to be observed on the surface of halogen in halogenated molecules, which can be tempered to display the aptness to form a π-hole halogen bond with a series of electron density-rich sites (Lewis bases) hosted individually by 32 other partner molecules. The [MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ] level characteristics of the π-hole halogen bonds in 33 binary complexes obtained from the charge density approaches (quantum theory of intramolecular atoms, molecular electrostatic surface potential, independent gradient model (IGM-δginter)), intermolecular geometries and energies, and second-order hyperconjugative charge transfer analyses are discussed, which are similar to other non-covalent interactions. That a π-hole can be observed on halogen in halogenated molecules is substantiated by experimentally reported crystals documented in the Cambridge Crystal Structure Database. The importance of the π-hole halogen bond in the design and growth of chemical systems in synthetic chemistry, crystallography, and crystal engineering is yet to be fully explicated.

Effect of hydroxy groups on structural, electronic, and biological properties of methyl carbazate containing hydroxy benzaldehyde-based imines. A combined experimental and theoretical investigation

Interactions present in differently substituted hydroxy based imine derivatives were characterised and identified by the utilisation of spectroscopic techniques in conjunction with X-ray crystallography and theoretical computations. All the target compounds ‘a-c’ crystallises in monoclinic crystal system with P21/c and C2/c space groups. CH…Pi and Pi…Pi interaction are the characteristic interactions present in the target compounds ‘a-c’ The most significant contributions to the crystal packing were found using Hirshfeld surface analysis, and potential contact points were identified. H…H, O…H and C…H contacts and π stacking interactions are the dominant contacts observed in all the crystals these results showed that hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions were significantly present. Furthermore, investigations related to calculations of the molecular electrostatic potential and frontier molecular orbital (highest occupied–lowest unoccupied) were carried out for the optimised structure. The HOMO-LUMO energy gap made it possible to determine the molecule's chemical hardness, chemical inertness, electronegativity, and electrophilicity index, which showed its possible kinetic stability and reactivity. The target compounds' predicted activity spectra (PASS) showed that these compounds exhibit significant Testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase (NADP+) inhibition activity, with Pa 7.18–7.95. Finally, Testosterone 17beta-dehydrogenase (NADP+) (PDB-ID 3KLP) was used to conduct molecular docking investigations of compounds ‘a-c’. Due to their tiny size and lack of rigidity, which enable them to bind well at any position, a and b exhibit higher binding free energies of -7.08 and -7.00 kcal/mol and inhibition constants of 0.1 and 1.2 µM than compound c.

Investigation of cathinone analogs targeting human dopamine transporter using molecular modeling

In a step towards understanding the structure–property relationship among Synthetic Cathinones (SCs), a combined methodology based on Density Functional Theory (DFT), Administration, Distribution, Metabolism, Excretion, and Toxicity (ADMET) predictions, docking and molecular dynamics simulations have been applied to correlate physicochemical descriptors of various SCs to their biological activity. The results from DFT and molecular docking studies correlate well with each other explaining the biological activity trends of the studied SCs. Quantum mechanical descriptors viz. polarizability, electron affinity, ionization potential, chemical hardness, electronegativity, molecular electrostatic potential, and ion interaction studies unravel the distinguishingly reactive nature of Group D (pyrrolidine substituted) and Group E (methylenedioxy and pyrrolidine substituted) compounds. According to ADMET analysis, Group D and Group E molecules have a higher probability of permeating through the blood–brain barrier. Molecular docking results indicate that Phe76, Ala77, Asp79, Val152, Tyr156, Phe320, and Phe326 constitute the binding pocket residues of hDAT in which the most active ligands MDPV, MDPBP, and MDPPP are bound. Finally, to validate the derived quantum chemical descriptors and docking results, Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations are performed with homology-modelled hDAT (human dopamine transporter). The MD simulation results revealed that the majority of SCs remain stable within the hDAT protein’s active sites via non-bonded interactions after 100 ns long simulations. The findings from DFT, ADMET analysis, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation studies complement each other suggesting that pyrrolidine-substituted SCs (Group D and E), specifically, MPBP and PVN are proven potent SCs along with MDPV, validating various experimental observations. Insight into the dissolution behavior of valsartan (form E) in twelve pure solvents: Solubility, modelling and molecular simulation

Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used to treat hypertension. Crystals of valsartan were prepared and the stability of the valsartan (form E) at different solvents and temperatures was investigated. The solid-liquid equilibrium solubility of valsartan (form E) in twelve pure solvents was determined by a dynamic method at the temperature from 278.15 K to 323.15 K. Among the solvents used in the experiment, the solubility of valsartan (form E) was found to be highest in methanol and lowest in acetonitrile. In straight-chain alcohols, the solubility decreases with the increase of carbon chain length. The modified Apelblat model, λh model and NRTL model were used to correlate the solubility data. The thermodynamic properties of the mixing process such as Gibbs free energy, enthalpy and entropy were estimated by applying the NRTL model. The KAT-LSER model was adopted to explore solvent effects. Hirshfeld surface analysis and molecular electrostatic potential (ESP) were employed to visualize close contacts and charge distribution of valsartan and solvents. In addition, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was performed to calculate intermolecular interactions between solute and solvent. Radial distribution function (RDF) and the mean square displacement (MSD) analyses were also carried out to explore molecular association and molecular diffusion.

Experimental and theoretical investigation of novel ammonium-derived dihydroxyl ionic liquid as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1 M HCl: Effects of dihydroxyl and head groups

A novel ammonium-derived dihydroxyl ionic liquid ([C16DPOA]Br) and a control ionic liquid ([C16DPA]Br) are synthesized to reveal the effect of dihydroxyl and head groups on their inhibition property via the weight-loss method, surface analysis, electrochemical measurements, and adsorption isotherm studies. [C16DPOA]Br exhibits the optimal inhibition ability (93.47 %) for mild steel in 1 M HCl in contrast to [C16DPA]Br (88.03 %) and the traditional cationic surfactant CTAB (92.34 %). Based on the experimental results, it can be inferred that the short alkyl chain (propyl) impedes the tight alignment of [C16DPA]Br on the metal surface and the interactions between hydroxyl and iron atoms enable [C16DPOA]Br to overcome the negative effects of the short alkyl chain on the inhibition property. Finally, molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) distribution and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation verify the reactive sites and adsorption capacity of corrosion inhibitors from the microscopic scale, which further confirms the proposed mechanism. This study focuses on the significance of dihydroxyl and head groups on the inhibition property and provides unique insights into the development of efficient ionic liquid corrosion inhibitors.

Improvement power conversion efficiency in graphene quantum dot by functionalization and heteroatom doping used in solar cell

First-principles density functional theory (DFT) was adopted for investigating the influence of adatoms (S, Si, Al) upon the graphene quantum dot functionalized with the carboxyl group (CO2H-GQD) in order to find novel materials due to unique optical (redshift) and electronic (lower bandgap) properties for utilization in quantum dot solar cells (QDSCs). For the sake of examining the alteration in the electronic attributes due to the insertion of adatoms, the bandgaps, the LUMO and the HOMO were examined using the density functional B3LYP and the basis set 6-31G. For the sake of examining the charge separation and electron injection in the un-doped and doped CO2H-GQD, we scrutinized the charge transport, molecular electrostatic potential (MESP) and the binding mechanism. The optical attributes demonstrated a broad spectrum in the visible range favorable towards harvesting solar light. We also investigated the parameters of solar cells such as efficiency (η), short circuit current density (Jsc), fill factor (FF), open circuit voltage (Voc) in order for the sake of examining the use of adatom-doped CO2H-GQD in QDSCs. There was an increase in the efficiency of S-doped, Si-doped, and Al-doped CO2H-GQD. Doping the CO2H-GQD led to the maximum efficiency since electron donating nature was more, thereby injecting more electrons in the surface of TiO2. The results demonstrated that such GQD-based sensitizers can be used effectively in QDSCs.

In silico rationalization of piperidin-4-one analogs as anaplastic lymphoma kinase inhibitors: Integration of density functional theory, topological descriptor, molecular docking and pharmacological feature profiling

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) was involved in the development of various cancer types. Although several ALK inhibitors have been advanced to clinical trials, the emergence of drug resistance has limited the clinical application of them. Hence, developing new ALK inhibitors which can overcome resistance is essential. Here, we designed a novel ALK inhibitor Piperidin-4-One based on the structure of the second-generation ALK inhibitor ceritinib. The target compound 1-(cyclopropanecarbonyl)-2,6-bis(2,3-dihydrobenzo[b][1,4]dioxin-6-yl)-3-methylpiperidin-4-one (CDMP) was computed using density functional theory (DFT) method. The stability and charge delocalization of the molecule was also studied by natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis. The HOMO-LUMO energies describe the charge transfer takes place within the molecule. Molecular electrostatic potential has been analyzed. The reported molecule used as a potential NLO material since it has high µβ0 value. Additionally, statistical analyses were conducted to clarify the connections between ADMET properties of CDMP and molecular descriptors based on degree, neighborhood degree, degree entropy and neighborhood degree entropy. This thorough examination seeks to uncover the complex interactions between Density Functional Theory and molecular descriptors, offering valuable insights into the relationships among CDMP drug properties. The binding mode mechanism of the title compound was investigated through molecular docking studies, focusing on cancer-related proteins such as 4TT7, 5FTO and 3AOX. Furthermore, an assessment of Drug-likeness and ADMET properties revealed favorable pharmacokinetic profiles for the compound, with no indications of toxicity observed.
