Does AI Think?

This article raises a very relevant question today: “Does AI think?” To come up with an answer, it explores several conceptions of knowledge, from classical Aristotelian notions to modern philosophers’ takes on it. For Aristotle, knowledge starts with the senses, and, through epagoge and nous, it grows into an understanding of the nature of the thing known, which is something that does not happen with AI. Modern schools of thoughts are either rationalist or empiricist. For rationalists, knowledge is innate, while empiricists believe all knowledge comes from the senses. As Kant views it, knowledge is “built” on sensorial data with the use of theoretical reason categories. Based on these approaches, it is harder to claim that AI does not think by itself. The article also reviews current philosophers’ views on AI and AI thinking. Summing up, the answer to the initial question depends on the concept of knowledge adopted. As this article shares the classical notion of thinking, it concludes that AI does not think.

The Concept of Flexible Learning for Teaching Art Disciplines in Elementary Schools for National Minorities in modern PR China

The concept of flexible learning is increasingly important in contemporary education systems, particularly for teaching art and aesthetic disciplines. In China, this approach is especially relevant in schools serving national minorities, where diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds necessitate a more adaptable and inclusive educational framework. This article aims to explore the implementation of flexible learning for teaching art and aesthetic disciplines in modern elementary schools in China, focusing on the experiences and strategies used to organise the educational process for representatives of national minorities. When writing the article, the methods typical for researching papers in the field of general education and pedagogical comparative studies were used, in particular: literature review, case studies, document analysis, comparative analysis, observation. The article results. Flexible learning refers to educational approaches that provide students with choices regarding how, what, when, and where they learn. It emphasises adaptability to individual learning needs, preferences, and cultural contexts. Implementing flexible learning in art and aesthetic disciplines involves several strategies to accommodate the unique needs of national minority students (such as cultural and artistic integration, use of technology, community involvement and flexible learning environments) and is widely used in PR China in regions with significant populations of national minorities, providing valuable results. However, implementing flexible learning for art and aesthetic disciplines in schools for national minorities comes with challenges, including resource limitations and the need for special programs of teacher training activities including cultural sensitivity, which are the point of constant attention of the Chinese government. The study concludes that the implementation of flexible learning for teaching art and aesthetic disciplines in modern elementary schools in China, particularly for national minorities, demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity and adaptability in education. By integrating bilingual education, technology, community involvement, and flexible learning environments, these schools can provide a more personalised and culturally relevant education for their students. Despite the challenges, the benefits of this approach are significant and include promoting cultural preservation, artistic expression, and social cohesion.

Beyond penal metaphysics: the weakening of the philosophical foundations of punishment

The present work seeks to prove the hypothesis that the history of German penal dogmatics draws a path of gradual weakening of the metaphysical foundations of punishment. Through a bibliography review, the path will begin with Kant, Hegel and the origin of retributive theories. Afterwards, the clash between the Classical School of German Criminal Law, headed by Karl Binding, and the Modern School, led by Franz von Lizst, will be discussed. Edmund Mezger's causalism and Hans Welzel's finalism will be observed, as well as the role of punishment for both authors. Claus Roxin's teleological functionalism, with his proposal to protect legal goods, and Günther Jakobs' systemic functionalism, with the idea of general positive prevention, will be analyzed below. From there we will move on to the critical theories of imputation of Winfried Hassemer and Klaus Günther and, finally, to the arrival of penal abolitionism in Germany, by the hands of Sebastian Scheerer. Finally, we will close by waving towards a weak criminal law, with a post-metaphysical character inspired in Gianni Vattimo’s Philosophy, which is capable of articulating in the half-light in favor of its own reduction, with a view to abolition.

This study explores the ideological foundation of education vouchers, focusing on educational support programs for commoners during the French Revolution and the educational philosophies of Thomas Paine and John Stuart Mill. Thomas Paine emphasized the expansion of educational choice through government support and assistance for the poor, while John Stuart Mill advocated for educational improvement through free choice and competition. Their philosophies have become core ideas in the modern school choice movement and were institutionalized in the education voucher policy by Milton Friedman. This study analyzes the outcomes of education vouchers from the perspective of public choice theory and examines models such as the Tiebout hypothesis, Demand Side Financing, and Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS). Additionally, it explores the relationship between Hirschman's Exit-Voice-Loyalty model and the principle of voucher choice. In conclusion, this paper emphasizes how these concepts are related to choice and competition in public services. Furthermore, it highlights that the principles inherent in education vouchers serve as an important ideological foundation for democracy and economic development.

The use of alternative methods in working with underachieving students

In a modern school, one of the main tasks is to ensure a high level of student performance and requires constant efforts. This problem concerns such disciplines of the Natural Science direction as physics. Physics lessons include not only complex theory, but also conducting experiments, solving problems. In physics lessons, a high concentration of students is required for more effective assimilation of the material. Unfortunately, in a traditional school, conditions are not always created for this. Taking into account the fact that it is difficult for all students, especially those who are lagging behind, to take up extracurricular activities, we need to implement them. The traditional system may not contribute to not meeting the needs of these students and not increasing their motivation to learn. This paper presents an alternative teaching method in extracurricular activities in the teaching of physics, which successfully integrates into the traditional teaching system and significantly increases the motivation and performance of lagging students. For students who do not have problems with academic performance, the proposed technique further stimulates interest in the subject of physics. The reason for using alternative teaching techniques is related to improving the motivation of students with poor performance to understand and study physics. Since the greatest attention is paid to lagging students in this work, alternative methods make it possible to create favorable conditions for learning and mastering materials in physics. In this technology, non-standard approaches are widely used that allow you to fully reveal the potential of lagging students due to the fact that traditional methods turned out to be ineffective. The relevance of this study is due to the problem of developing methods and techniques for working with lagging students in high school. Currently, the main methods are associated with developing learning, but alternative technologies are becoming more and more important. The advantage of using alternative technologies in extracurricular activities is their ability to surpass traditional methods, and successfully increase the performance of lagging students. Taking into account modern trends and digitalization, alternative technologies promise prospects and provide a wide field for choosing methods in order to improve performance in classrooms. The purpose of this study is to provide modern alternative teaching methods to work with lagging students in school physics lessons, which are easily integrated into the traditional school system. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were set: Analysis of the compatibility of alternative learning technologies with traditional ones. Development of alternative teaching methods for lagging students that successfully integrate into the traditional school system and can be used within the framework of one lesson. Conduct a pedagogical experiment using the methods developed with lagging students, analyze the results and draw conclusions about the compatibility of alternative methods with the traditional school system and their effectiveness for lagging students. The object of the study is the integration of modern methods of alternative learning into the traditional system in order to improve the performance of lagging students. The subject of the study is the degree of integration of alternative teaching methods in a traditional school, based on the analysis of the progress of lagging students before and after the use of these methods. The research methodology involves the development of alternative teaching methods that correspond to current trends and the analysis of the assimilation of the material in physics lessons after their implementation. The novelty of the study is to propose alternative teaching methods that meet current trends in the education system and test them in a traditional school environment. This makes it possible to assess their compatibility with the traditional education system and their effectiveness for lagging students.

The Revolution of Artificial Intelligence in Nursing Education and Practice

As a grade 11 student studying in Modern School, Barakhambha Road, New Delhi, I have been fortunate enough to witness the effects of government policies aimed at integrating children from economically weaker sections (EWS) into mainstream education. While the inclusion of EWS children in schools like ours has been a significant stride towards social equity, there are still several challenges to overcome. Our batch (2011) was the first batch where the EWS quota was implemented by the government. All throughout junior school, I kept hearing from my family that it was the noblest idea to integrate children who come from slightly disadvantaged backgrounds into the mainstream, and how it was only through education and equal opportunities that the children of this country would grow to become fine human beings who could lead the world of the future. I was always taught to treat them with kindness and compassion, but also, at the same time, in an effort to be inclusive, was taught to be careful about not hurting them by making them feel different or pointing out the differences between our upbringings. The presence of EWS children in our school is a testament to the success of policies such as the Right to Education (RTE) Act, which mandates private schools to reserve a percentage of their seats for underprivileged children. This initiative has provided EWS children with access to quality education, creating opportunities for their future. However, the social aspect of integration is an area that still requires attention. One of the most glaring challenges is the lack of interaction between children belonging to higher socio-economic strata and those belonging to the EWS. I have myself been a witness to unequal treatment, even though it was largely inadvertent. This is because schools ask children to engage in activities that may not necessarily be within the means of an EWS household. Activities such as domestic field trips and international exchange programmes challenge even affluent households at times. It is not uncommon to see students from different socio-economic backgrounds form separate social circles. This social divide can have a profound impact on the EWS children, making them feel isolated and unwelcome. Such feelings can further affect their academic performance and emotional well-being. As a student, I believe it is crucial to explore ways to foster better relationships between students from diverse backgrounds.

How might Apple, Freire, and hooks redesign the modern school as a site for social transformation?

In Western society, schools have largely been designed to reproduce capitalist, patriarchal, white supremacist, colonial systems and values. Numerous structural elements—from redlining and modern segregation to scripted curricula and high-stakes testing—work to ensure that schools solidify existing social inequalities, produce good worker bees, and keep hegemonic powers in place. Shaped within these forces of reproduction, our schools are fraught with grave problems: racism and discrimination in every form, physical and emotional bullying, hunger and food insecurity, technology addiction, sexual harassment, teen suicide, conflicts and gang violence, drug use, mindless consumption, and ecological destruction. The modern school is a perfect microcosm and reflection of an unhealthy society. How might we redesign schools such that they become sites of social transformation, rather than reproduction? How might we cultivate kind, ethical, empowered global citizens within our classrooms? In this paper, I will explore how Michael Apple, Paulo Freire, and bell hooks might address these questions. I will explore each scholar’s theories in an attempt to imagine what a school based in their pedagogical philosophy might look like—one that nurtures kind, ethical, and empowered global citizens.

Application of Character Education in the Modern Islamic Boarding School Curriculum

Character education is an important aspect in students' personal development, especially in a modern pesantren environment that integrates religious and general education. This study aims to explore the application of character education in the modern pesantren curriculum and its impact on student development. The method used is a case study on several modern Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia, focusing on the strategy, implementation, and evaluation of character education programs. The results of the study show that modern Islamic boarding schools apply various approaches in educating students' character, including the integration of religious values, experiential learning, and extracurricular activities that support character development. The implementation has a positive impact on student attitudes and behaviors, such as increased discipline, responsibility, and empathy. This study concludes that the curriculum of modern Islamic boarding schools that integrate character education can make a significant contribution to the formation of students' character, and recommends a more structured and sustainable approach to improve the effectiveness of character education in Islamic boarding schools.

<p>In the article we carried out a historical and psychological analysis of psychological and pedagogical research of joint activities (its genesis) from the 60s of the XX century to the present time. Research reference points have been identified/ The first one is the beginning of the 60s of the XX century with a primary study of the genesis of the subject of joint activity in groups of children of preschool and primary school age. The secon is the end of the 80s of the XX, early XXI centuries within the framework of the development of the theory of developmental education (V.V. Davydov, V.V. Rubtsov, D.B. Elkonin, etc.) based on the positions of cultural-historical psychology L.S. Vygotsky, who emphasizes joint activity as the most important sociocultural mechanism of development. The third point takes place in the second decade - the beginning of the third decade of the XXI century, it’s the study of the issues of promoting the ideas of sociogenesis in the traditions of cultural-historical psychology and activity theory, and an attempt to look differently at the key problems of joint activities in a modern school environment. The space of possibilities for modern children is analyzed. Current research shows that educational organizations today form and develop not only the abilities of students, but also their activities (from joint games, educational activities, to role-playing experimentation and project activities).</p>

Diversity of style in the works of the artist (Naziha Selim)

Iraqi art underwent a significant transformation in the second half of the 20th century, seeking to remove established norms, which led to ground-breaking outputs from artists like Naziha Salim. Her work represents a pivotal shift, rooted in two main aspects: the inspiration from cultural heritage and its contemporary application. Salim's art exemplifies beauty through the use of modern techniques, diverse materials, varying styles, and the interplay of lines and space, alongside the strategic use of color masses. This diversity is the cornerstone of this study. The research is structured into four chapters. The first chapter addresses the research problem, stemming from the question: To what extent does the diversity of style manifest in Naziha Salim's works? The aim is to explore this diversity, alongside highlighting the research's significance and scope. The second chapter comprises two sections: the first reviews the multiplicity of styles in modern European art schools, while the second delves into the diversity of styles in contemporary Iraqi painting, particularly focusing on the experiences of various artists, with a special emphasis on Naziha Salim's work. The third chapter outlines the research methodology, detailing the study population, which includes 15 of Salim's artworks. The sample consists of three works, selected and analyzed based on expert recommendations, employing a descriptive analytical approach to meet the study's objectives and derive conclusions. The fourth chapter presents the research findings, such as Salim's reflection of the social environment and the juxtaposition of reality's tragedies, forming a stylistic, intellectual, and nationalistic vision. The conclusions suggest that the artistic scene revolves around the genuine impetus behind creating art and its relationship with environment, history, and the artist’s introspection. Additionally, the chapter includes recommendations and proposals, concluding with images of the analyzed artworks.

The article is devoted to one of the urgent problems of teaching Kyrgyz language and Kyrgyz literature - the problem of speech culture. At present the oral and written speech skills of schoolchildren do not meet the requirements, the main reasons for this are related to the fact that teachers do not know the concepts of "Speech Culture" and "Speech Culture of Students". In the article the given concepts and terms are analyzed from philosophical, psychological and pedagogical aspects and the essence of the problem is revealed on the basis of the works of linguists such as Akishina А. A, Golovin B.N., Goldin V.E., Ladyzhenskaya T.A, Davletov S., Musaev S.J.and so on. Speech culture is the construction of oral and written speech using linguistic means, the creation of text, it is through this speech that people communicate with other people, and later with society as a whole. To do this, in a modern school, one of the main requirements is to increase the linguistic and communicative competence of students. Speech culture is a phenomenon related to the age characteristics of the speaker or writer, psychology, the situation at the moment, the perception and understanding of the topic by students, the vocabulary they can use, themselves and the style of the text. The student's speech culture will directly depend on his perception of the world, his emotional feelings, his aesthetic tastes, and this is exactly what happens at the stage of active acceptance in grades 5-8, when we perceive him as an object. The student should not only understand the work being studied from Kyrgyz literature, receive education from it, but also on the basis of this work perceive in his world the richness of his native language, new words, expressions, means of artistic speech, develop a culture of speech and writing. Сетевая инновационная кластерная педагогическая лаборатория как инструмент повышения качества функционирования муниципальных образовательных комплексов и организаций

The article introduces a model developed in the Republic of Bashkortostan aimed at improving the functioning of educational organizations at the municipal level – the Network Innovative Cluster Pedagogical Laboratory, validated with direct involvement from the author. The necessity and effectiveness of the proposed management solution are substantiated. On one hand, numerous vectors of reform in Russian education converge on the common goal of implementing an individualized approach in modern schools. This approach aims to help each student develop their abilities and acquire skills for independent problem-solving in academic and life contexts. On the other hand, any changes in social institutions today occur within the contextual framework of an information society, altering the content and necessary set of knowledge, skills, and competencies. The structure of the Network Innovative Cluster Pedagogical Laboratory is examined, emphasizing the need for creating an information-educational environment, transitioning general education schools into a mode of innovative development, and focusing management efforts on positive social outcomes. This innovative educational complex contributes to the holistic development of student’s personality – intellectual, communicative, and emotional-moral, but requires ongoing monitoring of all elements from both objective and subjective perspectives.

PRESCHOOL PEDAGOGY AND TEACHING PRACTICES IN THE INCLUSIVE CLASSROOMS: A RESEARCH STUDY ACCORDING TO THE CURRICULUM PROGRAM IN GREECE

<p>The Curriculum forms the common framework for organizing learning in kindergarten based on certain principles. Preschool education, in the light of the development of basic abilities, is aligned with the principles of holistic development and learning adopted by the Curriculum. It is important that preschool teachers understand the core knowledge areas, concepts, and skills that are sought to be developed so that they can approach them holistically and dynamically. The purpose of this study is to investigate the views and educational practices of kindergarten teachers regarding the teaching plans and learning situations they organize in their inclusive classrooms in order to respond to the needs and capabilities of kindergarten children. It is a qualitative research, with the methodological tool of semi-structured interviews, in a sample of forty (40) kindergarten teachers from the regional unit of Epirus. Kindergarten teachers answered questions regarding: investigations, errors as a pedagogical tool, the learning situations they organize taking into account characteristics of the game, inclusive education in kindergarten, differentiated teaching and learning and the opportunities they create for intercultural communication. From the analysis and interpretation of the interviews, it is clear that the kindergarten teachers wish to harmoniously combine theory with practice and that inclusive education in kindergarten is a practical approach to diversity as an element that unifies and enriches the learning experience. However, the findings of the research also highlighted the need for teachers for training and further information on teaching methodology and practical application as well as the need to reframe and redefine the goals of the Analytical Study Programs in the direction of forming a high-quality modern school.</p><p> </p><p><strong> Article visualizations:</strong></p><p><img src="/-counters-/soc/0770/a.php" alt="Hit counter" /></p>

The article addresses the role and tasks of the modern school and university in relation to the educational needs of Generation Z, born and raised in the realities of liquid modernity. Given the peculiarity of these realities, the key need of contemporary society in general, and of Generation Z in particular, appears to be the development of learning competences. The role and task of the school and university therefore boils down to teaching how to learn, to enjoy discovering the truth and sharing it. The aim of this article is to answer the questions to what extent school and university institutions fulfil this role and task, and what challenges they face.

Currently, the modern challenges and requirements facing the educational system, especially in the context of primary education, are of significant importance in the preparation of a modern primary school teacher. The task of primary school teachers training is of primary concern in the context of these changes. The transformation of education requires a new approach to the professional training of teachers that will meet modern requirements and expectations. One of the key factors influencing the quality of education is primary school teachers training. The study addresses the question of the key strategies needed to successfully prepare primary school teachers in today's educational environment. The research examines such key strategies as using innovative teaching methods, developing competencies in differentiated instruction, and addressing diverse student needs. Emphasis is placed on the importance of teacher professional development, the implementation of the latest educational technologies, and the creation of a supportive learning environment for teachers and students. The role of innovative methods in teacher training is emphasized and attention is focused on the importance of effective learning and development of children at the primary stage of education.

PROBLEM BASED LEARNING – AS A MODERN EFFECTIVE TECHNOLOGY OF TRAINING

The article is devoted to the use of problem-based learning technology in lessons in a modern school. Against the background of the updated content of education, the relevance of problem-based learning is emphasized. This technology is considered the first step towards mastering heuristic learning. As an illustration, a compressed table is given that reflects the use of a special form of work - problem-based learning technology.

A qualitative exploration of the impact of educational social fields on mental health help-seeking in post-primary schools in Northern Ireland.

In a study of post-primary students in Northern Ireland, Bourdieu's concepts of cultural capital, habitus and fields are used to explore attitudes towards help-seeking from general practitioners (GPs). Findings from Grammar and Secondary Modern School students are compared using the role of educational fields in influencing help-seeking behaviours for mental health problems. Focus groups were conducted of 54 students at 10 post-primary schools in Northern Ireland, each consisting of 5-7 pupils, stratified by age (13-17years) and gender. The data were analysed thematically to assess attitudinal and belief patterns within school environments. Participants from both types of schools expressed reluctance to seek help from GPs for mental health concerns. However, the attitudes towards help seeking differ between grammar schools (GSs) and secondary modern schools with regards to (a) the act of help-seeking; (b) service knowledge and medical professionalism; and (c) trust and disclosure. The field of GSs appears to produce students who feel more able and, importantly, more entitled to mental health support from health professionals. While this apparent conference of cultural norms increases some individuals' access to services, work is required to build help-seeking pathways which are responsive to diverse young people.

Методологические основания формирования универсальных учебных действий в контексте идей концепции «Феноменология развития и бытия личности» В.С. Мухиной

<p>The article considers the methodological foundations for the formation of universal educational actions as the basis for the creation of metasubject results of general secondary education and it examines the key ideas of cultural-historical and system-activity approaches that are fundamental in achieving the main results of school education. The authors substantiate the importance of implementing these ideas at the level of federal state educational standards in order to systematize, standardize and regulate the activities of teachers in a modern school. The article also reveals the interrelation of the currently existing methodology for the formation of universal educational actions with the ideas of the concept of the V.S. Mukhina's scientific school «Phenomenology of personality development and being». Here’s also substantiated the productivity of considering V.S. Mukhina's scientific ideas on the mental mechanisms of identification-isolation and factors determining the development of the personality, including: 1 – genotypic prerequisites, as methodological foundations for the formation of cognitive, communicative and regulatory universal educational actions; 2 – external conditions (the reality of the objective world, the reality of figurative and symbolic systems, natural reality, the reality of the socio-normative space); 3 – the internal position of the personality. The authors consider the interrelation of personal educational outcomes with universal educational activities as well. They also defend the idea that the prior purpose of education is personal development.</p>

Comparison Of Calligraphy Learning Methods of Traditional Boarding School Al-Ansor and Modern Boarding School Darul Hikmah TPI Medan-North Sumatera

Traditional boarding schools are learning institutions that use classical books such as the yellow book to serve as learning guidelines. Meanwhile, modern boarding schools are boarding schools that are more dominant to general learning, but these two boarding schools still study calligraphy. Calligraphy is a science that studies the beauty of the art of writing in Islam. The purpose of this research is to find a comparison of calligraphy learning methods in traditional boarding schools and modern boarding schools. This research method uses observation techniques, interviews, and literature sources, where researchers record all information during the research. The results of this study indicate that calligraphy learning is still a subject of interest to students in both traditional and modern boarding schools. However, traditional and modern pesantren do not really focus on calligraphy learning.
