Research and Application of Chinese Auspicious Animal Images in Contemporary Clothing Design—Take “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” as Research Example

This thesis aims to investigate the auspicious animal images in “The Classic of Mountains and Seas”, exploring the profiling features and evolution of the auspicious animal patterns through cross verification of images, literature and cultural relics, and based on the research, the images are applied on the China-Chic clothing design. Ancient Chinese took the auspicious animals as things of blessing, which were endowed with many beautiful meanings to express our ancestors’ longing for a better life. Based on the concept of innovative design derived from the traditional culture, this thesis takes the images of auspicious animals in “The Classic of Mountains and Seas” as its research object to analyze their origins and evolution in China-chic fashion and, together with the case study of modern clothing design and a certain extent summary, to promote the inheritance, development and application of traditional culture in modern social life. The thesis will delve deep into the cultural connotations and aesthetic characteristics of the auspicious animal images, analyze and investigate the types, characteristics and implied meanings of such image to extract representative visual element symbols, which are then integrated into the modern fashion design, fulfilling the inheritance, development and application of traditional culture in modern social life.

Effect of Traditional Textile Techniques on Modern Fashion Design in Nigeria

Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the effect of traditional textile techniques on modern fashion design in Nigeria. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: Traditional textile techniques in Nigeria, such as adire (tie-dye), akwete weaving, and aso-oke fabric, have significantly influenced modern fashion design. These indigenous methods, known for their intricate patterns and vibrant colors, are increasingly incorporated into contemporary fashion by Nigerian designers. The use of traditional techniques adds cultural depth and authenticity, appealing to both local and international audiences. Modern designers blend these age-old methods with contemporary styles, creating innovative and unique fashion pieces that reflect Nigeria’s rich heritage. This fusion has not only revitalized traditional craftsmanship but also positioned Nigeria as a global hub for Afrocentric fashion. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Cultural identity theory, sustainable fashion theory & brand equity theory may be used to anchor future studies on the effect of traditional textile techniques on modern fashion design in Nigeria. Fashion designers should collaborate with local artisans who specialize in traditional textile techniques. Policymakers should develop initiatives that support artisanal communities involved in traditional textile production.

Comprehensive Analysis of Li Ethnic Clothing Based on Five Major Dialects and Its Application in Modern Fashion Design

Abstract This research aims to undertake a comprehensive analysis of Li ethnic clothing rooted in five major dialects and investigates its relevance in modern fashion design. With the progression of contemporary society, traditional Li ethnic attire has progressively lost societal attention, resulting in fewer individuals proactively engaging with it. However, can infusing the distinctive features of Li ethnic clothing from these five major dialects into contemporary fashion design rekindle an allure for this heritage? Through diverse channels and approaches, this study endeavors to address this inquiry and illuminate often-overlooked facets. By judiciously melding traditional Li ethnic clothing with contemporary fashion design, we can attain objectives that are more rational, meaningful, and valuable.

Abstract This study explores the innovative application and design of smocking technology in local Chinese clothing brands, emphasizing the technique’s evolution from a functional necessity to a decorative art form. It delves into the integration of smocking with modern fashion design, highlighting its significance in enhancing fabric texture, silhouette, and overall aesthetic appeal. Through comprehensive analyses of case studies and craft types, the paper reveals how local brands creatively adapt smocking, merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design principles. The findings suggest that smocking technology not only enriches the textile design repertoire but also contributes to the global identity and innovation of local Chinese clothing brands, bridging heritage crafts with modern design innovations.

Application of Floral Elements in Fabric Remanufacturing

To explore innovative applications of floral elements in modern fashion design, this study addresses the challenge of traditional flat printing patterns being the predominant form of incorporating floral elements into clothing design. Building upon the fundamental concepts and characteristics of floral elements, the paper analyzes the transformation of floral elements from figurative to abstract perspectives. It delves into the expressive modes of floral elements in fabric remanufacturing and explores various application forms. Through a detailed analysis of specific cases, the study summarizes that abstract floral elements predominantly manifest as form abstraction and texture abstraction in fabric remanufacturing. Additionally, it presents the principles of aesthetic forms for floral elements to provide valuable references for the utilization of floral elements in clothing design.

The Symbolism of the Dragon in the Design of Clothing and Accessories in the Context of Updating the Traditional Cultural Heritage of China

As a traditional clothing symbol that is unique to the Chinese nation, the dragon symbol combines the distinctive features of the Chinese nation, reflecting the depth of mental changes and the historical context of Chinese culture. The image of the dragon has formed a kind of dragon pattern as a certain set of ideas about the culture that encoded all its changes. Therefore, in national clothing the dragon image has been one of the most favorite patterns for thousands of years. With the interweaving of world cultures and the deepening of the concept of clothing design, the dragon pattern will incorporate fresh elements of Western culture while maintaining the essence of traditional Chinese culture, and show a new design image through the utilization of various innovative ideas and design methods. The following methods were used for the study: literature review, field research, analysis of design cases, analysis of fashion trends. Using these methods, the specifics of using dragon designs in the fashion industry in different seasons and years are analyzed, and the trend of their evolution in the field of high fashion is studied. In the article we analyzed modern trends of clothing design and gave their characteristics. The results of the study showed that even in modern youth fashion this national symbol is actively used, which indicates that the patterns and images of the dragon have real applicability and wide prospects of application in modern fashion design. Modern clothing design provides a rich cultural heritage for modern clothing to retain the characteristics of civilization on the basis of continuous innovation. The use of dragon motifs in modern clothing not only meets the aesthetic concepts of modern people, but also adds vitality to clothing design.

The Application of Bian Embroidery in Modern Fashion Design

Bian Embroidery is one of the national cultural relics of Henan Province in China, originating in the Song Dynasty. Its original art form, which combines traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy with embroidery instead of painting, has a substantial artistic value and has impacted the history of Chinese embroidery. This paper takes the art form and craft characteristics of Bian Embroidery as the research object, compiles and refines the collected historical materials of Bian Embroidery through literature analysis, physical evidence, and case study, and innovatively applies its pattern themes, an art form, color characteristics and craft techniques to modern clothing design. The practical application shows that the application of Bian Embroidery elements to clothing design can produce high aesthetic and cultural values, aiming to inherit and protect the traditional folk art of Bian Embroidery and to find innovative points where traditional handicraft and popular design meet. At the same time, it can not only make the traditional Bian Embroidery handicraft derived in modern clothing design but also provide a new idea and direction for the future development of Bian Embroidery and can enrich the products of modern clothing, develop new technology and new style, meet people's increasingly high aesthetic demand, inject fresh blood into the clothing industry, and can improve the cultural connotation of clothing itself, and bring the traditional handicraft of the Chinese nation to the world. Siak Palace Inspiration for Gala Evening Party Dressmaking

Inspiration for dressmaking can come from various sources, such as nature and the surrounding environment, culture and traditions, film, music, and art; textiles and fabrics; and architecture and interior design. Indonesia has many heritage buildings that can be a source of inspiration in gala evening party dressmaking, one of which is the Siak Palace in Riau. Siak Palace is one of the heritage buildings that can be a source of inspiration in fashion creation. Some elements of Siak Palace that can be used as inspiration in designing clothing include colors, ornamental motifs, shapes, textures, and traditional Malay clothing. In evening party dressmaking, inspiration from Siak Palace can be taken from the forms of decoration found in buildings and furniture in the palace. In addition, the dominant colors in Siak Palace, such as red, gold, and green, can be a color choice for elegant and magnificent party clothes. The shapes of objects in Siak Palace, such as jewelry, wood carvings, and wicker, can also inspire details on clothing. By combining elements from Siak Palace with modern fashion designs, it can produce unique and stunning party clothes. The object of the study is the components of the collaboration of fashion and science as a key trend in modern fashion design – innovation and environmental friendliness. The methodological basis of the research was made up of general scientific methods of cognition, in particular, the system method, comparative and structural-functional approaches, the idea of developing a synthesis of science and fashion. As a result of the research, the author comes to conclusions about the transformation of the human worldview under the influence of the collaboration of science and fashion: along with concern for bodily comfort and attraction to new opportunities when using digital clothing, a person begins to strive for material awareness. Chinese Folk Embroidery Bellyband: The Intersection of Loving Symbol, Emotional Release, and Spiritual Needs

This paper analyzes the Chinese folk children’s and adult women’s bellyband, in order to explore it’s cultural connotation and artistic characteristics, and dig out useful elements for modern clothing design. This paper adopts the research methods of literature analysis, physical investigation, and modern works analysis. Through the analysis of the children’s bellyband, mainly by its summarized origin and customs, we believe that the bellyband not only has practical function and rich artistic elements, but also is the carrier of thick family love and has reference value for modern children’s clothing design. For the adult female bellyband, through the analysis of the traditional culture from the perspective of emotion, this paper believes that the shape of adult female bellyband is constrained by feudal etiquette, but its sewing process reflects women’s wisdom. At the same time, the color matching and pattern composition of bellyband are the expression and catharsis of women’s emotion. Based on this, this paper puts forward suggestions for modern clothing design, innovating the embroidery and patchwork process of bellyband, bionic modeling design. We believe that the embroidery technology, patchwork technology and pattern cultural connotation of bellyband can be combined with modern fashion design.

Abstract: This research is clear about the fashion related to humans and their lives. This collection is sourced from field visit books and the internet. The fashion industry has changed a lot over the years. Fashion houses are no longer working with two collections per year - Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer. Multiple fashion professionals are working with multiple collections and deliveries every season. They are constantly inventing new ideas and creating new products to meet the aspirations of their customers. 'Fast fashion' companies are successfully using a variety of strategies to reduce production times, increase their competitive advantage, and accelerate the design process. This research project was undertaken to examine the relationship between the designer's ideas, the innovative design of the product and the aspirations of the consumer. The rapid economic development, multi-cultural fusion, attention-grabbing and high-fashion logo clothing design reflect and add integration requirements of a variety of elements, for diverse development, which makes these designers stand out among other fields. The essence of need to get inspiration for new design idea is called art. The exploration of abstract painting forms characterized by clear nature, form, color, expression and new aesthetics can bring new strength to fashion design, so as to promote. In order to develop innovative and diverse fashion designs, this paper describes upcoming garments, features of abstract art, all focusing on the analysis and study of fashion design abstract expression, respectively, by the three aspects of the color of the dress design, form, effect of the essence art on modern fashion design, in the context of the application of modern and organic Along with achieving his mastery in clothes, there is a change in the dress style. Research on Archaeology and Digital Restoration of Costumes in DaoLian Painting

Costume restoration is one of the important ways to study costume history and culture. The purpose of this paper is to show the characteristics of Chinese costumes more than 1000 years ago, through the research on the costume in the famous ancient Chinese painting DaoLian painting, and provide strong technical support for the research of Chinese ancient costume culture. DaoLian painting is the work of Xuan Zhang, a famous painter in Tang dynasty (618–907), China. From the perspective of clothing engineering, we analyzed the characteristics of costume style, color, and pattern and used the virtual fitting technology to realize digital restoration of the costume of 12 characters in the painting. The results show that it is a practical method to study costume from paintings. The colors, patterns, and character gestures in the paintings provide sufficient information for the archaeology and restoration of ancient costumes. The research results of this paper can provide a new idea for costume archaeology and a reference for modern fashion design and materials for the VR Museum of Ancient Costumes.

Prospects for the Development of Design Thinking of Higher Education Applicants in the Culture and Art Industry in the Context of Digitalization

The rapid development of science, technology, and digital multimedia has made adjustments in all areas of design. Its ramifications and forms are deeply influenced by digital media, making new demands on teaching. A renewed society regulates new modes of teaching to produce applicants capable of adapting to the development of modern society and responding to the needs of the market. The article aims to present the impact of the development of modern digital media technologies on the teaching of modern fashion design at Kyiv National University of Culture and Art and to analyze the methodological problems of design thinking. The novelty of the work is the consideration of a new mode of teaching that is suitable for digital media art design from the perspective of design thinking methodology. The result of the work is the connection between the modes of design and the development of creative projects in the perspective of the model of homogeneous synthesis of the use of design thinking methodology and digitalization. The feasibility of the methodology synthesis is revealed in the results of the experiment, which involved 30 students from three faculties of Kyiv National University of Culture and Art. The groups took a combined bachelor's and master's degree course in design engineering, aimed at developing the best final project. Students combined this course with incorporating a design thinking approach. The best project was demonstrated by the group that focused the most on the use of design thinking and creativity and was guided in the design development by one of the basic components of design thinking, empathy. Taking the perspective of incorporating design thinking into the learning process can identify the next steps that can assess a future professional's life trajectory as well as address topics such as recognition, memory, and future development perspectives.

Research of the Textile Pattern Design based on the Tibetan Traditional Costumes

With the rapid development of China’s economy, traditional culture’s inheritance and development have become a hot topic. As a product of national culture, costumes intuitively reflect the material and spiritual culture of a nation. This study explores the historical background of Tibetan culture; the Gesang Flower as the symbol of Tibetan culture; the shape, fabric, color, and pattern of Tibetan women’s costumes; and modern fashion designs of Tibetan costumes as a theoretical background, using Tibetan costumes as research objects. The design of the Gesang Flower textile pattern is based on the theory of Tibetan traditional costumes. First, we selected the colors of Tibetan traditional clothing. Second, we extracted the colors of Tibetan traditional costumes for textile pattern design. Thirdly, we did textile pattern design using Gesang flowers and demonstrated five resulting textile pattern designs. Finally, we showed the application of these textile pattern designs in clothing. The aim of this research was to create textile designs by combining the shape of the Gesang Flower with the colors of Tibetan traditional costumes. Our study also gives a view of the future study of modern fashion design.

The Application of Visual Illusion in the Fashion Design

Through various visual phenomena, the visual illusion has crossed the boundary between reality and fantasy and has been applied in many fields. It is a creative design element with a sense of modernity and a good theme for various personality expressions in fashion design. Therefore, this paper tries to show that the broad application of visual illusion can improve the creativity of fashion design and maximize the degree of people’s senses through visual communication design works, broaden people’s horizons, and promote the diversity of fashion design works. In addition, cases of modern fashion design that use visual illusions are found and analyzed. These cases show that the use of creative fashion design through visual illusion is a good example. The significance of this paper is to examine creative fashion design using the visual characteristics of visual illusion.
