Systematic long-term sports is one of the ways to ensure effective socialization of the younger generation. Continuity, voluntariness of doing sports is based on the stability of sports motivation, which is subject to the positive and negative effects of many factors. Great potential for the formation, development and consolidation of motivation for sports has a family that implements this activity within the framework of family education. The full use of the educational potential of the family can become an effective mechanism for ensuring many years of sports for the younger generation. However, modern families, in the majority, do not implement the necessary educational functions purposefully and effectively, do not have a developed educational potential. Today, without special pedagogical support, family education is not a sufficiently powerful mechanism for motivating children to engage in activities, including sports. This determined the setting of the research goal - to determine a set of effective means and methods, the implementation of which will ensure the effective formation of children’s sports motivation in the conditions of interaction between the sports school and the families of pupils, which provides support for family physical education. The results of the study were substantiated characteristics of the activities of the sports school to support family education for the formation of sustainable sports motivation for children; disclosed methodological foundations for the formation of a sustainable motivation for children to go in for sports based on the support of family education, including means and methods for organizing target areas of activity: educational and promotional activities for children / adolescents and their parents, pedagogical support for family education. The results were obtained on the basis of using a complex of theoretical (analysis, generalization, concretization, interpretation) and empirical (questionnaire, survey, conversation) research methods.
