The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) initiated the InDUS3US project, a Collaborative Satellite Development Project-inspired training program offered for free to engineers from the country's promising “space-adjacent” sector, to support the establishment of a domestic satellite manufacturing capability. The first phase of the project, which covered the satellite mission definition phase to the Preliminary Design Review (PDR), saw the involvement of 20 Industry Engineers (IEs) from 10 different Filipino companies. The participants' active participation and positive feedback suggest the viability of this approach to space workforce capacity building. This paper examines the contributing factors that shaped the training program design, followed by an evaluation of the strong points and areas of improvement taken from the perspective of PhilSA and the industry participants. Finally, recommendations are presented for the next phase of the InDUS3US project, which could also be applied to similar space workforce development programs that might be undertaken in the future.
