Abstract Background: Mindfulness-based interventions are becoming increasingly popular in clinical and nonclinical settings. Civilian and Military policy makers responsible for corporate health management and human-resource development are increasingly interested in mindfulness training as a useful tool for reducing stress and enhancing cognitive performance, leadership, and well-being. Objective: This article aims to inform readers concisely about the scope, efficacy, and adequate application of mindfulness training. Moreover, particular interest is paid to rehabilitative and preventive applications of mindfulness in a Military environment. Method: This overview describes mindfulness training programs that are useful for addressing stress-related conditions for North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) troops during times of peace and conflict.
