Structural and shielding effectiveness properties of (NiFe2O4/chopped strands) composites for 6.5–18 GHz applications

In this research, a mixed oxide technique was employed to create composite materials comprising NiFe2O4-chopped strands, aimed at evaluating their structural properties and microwave shielding effectiveness. The composites, produced through a hot-pressing process with varying proportions of NiFe2O4 and chopped strands, were integrated with epoxy to enhance their shielding capabilities. X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of single-phase NiFe2O4, free from secondary phases. Scanning electron microscopy analysis corroborated the presence of cubic crystalline NiFe2O4, without microstructural impurities. The microwave shielding performance of the composites was assessed within the 6.5–18 GHz frequency range using a network analyzer (NA), revealing a minimum shielding effectiveness of − 36.34 dB at 16.56 GHz for a 1.3 mm thick sample. These findings demonstrate the successful fabrication of NiFe2O4-chopped strands composites with tunable microwave shielding properties, achieved by adjusting the NiFe2O4 content, allowing for tailored performance across various frequency bands.

Investigation of microwave attenuation and shielding performance of PTFE/Fe2O3/OPEFB composites at X-band frequency

This study explored the microwave attenuation and shielding properties of PTFE/Fe2O3/OPEFB composites in the X-band frequency range. Fe2O3 nanoparticles were incorporated into the PTFE/OPEFB matrix using a powder-dry mixing technique. The composites were characterized using XRD and FESEM, and attenuation performance was evaluated using a VNA. The results indicated that the addition of Fe2O3 nanoparticles improved microwave attenuation and shielding properties, with the composite containing 15 wt% Fe2O3 exhibiting the highest attenuation of 16.02 dB. The homogeneous dispersion of Fe2O3 nanoparticles was confirmed through FESEM analysis, and XRD analysis confirmed the presence of Fe2O3 nanoparticles in the composites. The study concludes that PTFE/ Fe2O3/OPEFB composites have potential for electromagnetic interference shielding applications in aerospace, telecommunications, and electronics industries.

Crystal structure refinement, optical, magnetic, and X-band microwave shielding properties of Dy3+ doped Ni2Y-type strontium hexagonal ferrites

Ni2Y-type strontium hexaferrites having chemical dddof Sr1·8Ba0·2Ni2Fe12-xDyxO22 (x = 0.0, 0.1, 0.2) were made utilizing the sol-gel combustion technique. All samples' XRD patterns demonstrate the production of NiFe2O4 and Fe3O4 which are a phase that is intermediate in the synthesis of the required Ni2Y-type strontium hexaferrites. The FTIR indicates the presence of absorption peaks at about 557 and 432 cm−1, this shows the possibility of the formation of Y-type hexaferrites. UV-vis NIR spectroscopy analysis indicates that the energy band-gap of Y-type hexaferrites is affected by the increase in Dy3+ concentration. The values of the band-gap were found to be between 1.66 and 1.78 eV. According to the FESEM analysis, platelet-structure is formed with particles that range in size from 3.665 to 3.927 μm. The observed coercivity, saturation, and remnant magnetization first decreased with an increase in the concentration of Dy3+ for the sample having x = 0.1 and then increases for the sample with x = 0.2. The sample with the greatest amount of Dy3+ (i.e.x = 0.2) has a value of total shielding effectiveness of 27.5 dB. The prepared Ni2Y-type hexaferrites sample could be use for efficient shielding of microwaves in X-band.

Flexible Polypyrrole-Coated Polyamide Based Mats for Broadband Microwave Absorption and Electromagnetic Interference Shielding with Low Reflection

Electromagnetic interference (EMI) -shielding and microwave-absorbing materials are of great significance in the fields of microelectronics and telecommunication to achieve electromagnetic protection and compatibility. However, it still remains a challenge to design and fabricate materials integrating both microwave absorbing and shielding properties. In this study, we prepared fluffy and porous EMI shielding materials via facile vapor deposition of pyrrole (Py) on commercial polyamide fibrous mats (FMs). The uniform polypyrrole (PPy) coating on the fiber surface endows the FM with a favorable three-dimensional (3D) conductive network. By the combination of a highly porous microstructure, the fabricated polyamide fibrous mat@polypyrrole (FM@PPy) presents excellent microwave-absorbing and EMI-shielding properties. The EMI shielding efficiency (EMI SE) of FM@PPy can reach 40 dB with a high absorption coefficient (A) of 0.8, showing extremely low reflection with “green” EMI shielding characteristics in the whole X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz). Meanwhile, the reflection loss (RL) of FM@PPy is less than −10 dB in the X-band. Moreover, FM@PPy also exhibits favorable stability and reliability as a wearable sensor. The FM@PPy demonstrates promising potential for “green” EMI shielding, broadband microwaves absorbing and highly stable intelligent sensor.

Development of highly conductive hybrid Ni‐biocarbon‐based polyvinyl alcohol composites for microwave shielding properties

AbstractIn this study a highly flexible microwave shielding material was fabricated by solution casting method utilizing Nickel and biocarbon particles in PVA matrix and characterized for mechanical, magnetic, and microwave shielding properties. The main aim of this study was to prove the significant role of magnetic particles in electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding along with conductive particles. The results show that the addition of Ni‐biocarbon hybrid particle increases the shielding properties up to 56.5 dB at 20 GHz. The magnetic permeability increased gradually with the inclusion of Ni particles with a highest magnetization, coercivity, and retentivity of 1250 E−6 emu, −9000 G, and 1100 E−6 emu. Similarly the mechanical results show that adding biocarbon enhances the composite's mechanical properties. A highest tensile strength, tear strength, elongation, and hardness are noted as 38, 168 MPa, 18.4%, and 36 Shore‐D. Comparatively, the hardness and elongation% of composite designations contains 3 and 5 vol% of hybrid particles have increased by 9% and 26%, respectively, in comparison to composite containing only 5 vol% of biocarbon with PVA. Scanning electron microscope fractography indicates biocarbon particles reduce voids and improve adhesion. These flexible EMI shielding composites could be used in telecommunication and other wave transmitting devices in engineering applications.

Construction of unique conductive networks in carbon nanotubes/polymer composites via poly(ε-caprolactone) inducing partial aggregation of carbon nanotubes for microwave shielding enhancement

• Unique conductive networks of individual CNTs and CNT clusters are constructed. • Poly(ε-caprolactone) inducing partial aggregation of CNTs creates CNT clusters. • The unique conductive networks show high conductivity and microwave SE. • Balance amounts for CNTs and PCL exist for the unique conductive networks. • Polymer pairs are important to form the unique conductive networks. Herein, a unique conductive network, which includes individual carbon nanotubes (CNT) and some CNT clusters (CNT/CNT-cluster) formed via poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) inducing partial aggregation of CNTs, is constructed in CNTs filled CPCs. Three different kinds of polymers, which are isotactic polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS) and polylactic acid (PLA), are used to evaluate the effect of polymer matrix on the unique conductive network. A comparative study on the electrical conductivity and microwave shielding properties are also carried in these composites. The effect of CNTs and PCL loadings on the formation of CNT-clusters in the samples is also discussed in this study. Due to PCL inducing partial aggregation of CNTs and the good distribution of residue CNTs in PLA, the excellent CNT/CNT-cluster conductive network is formed in the CNT/PCL/PLA composites. Comparing with the traditional conductive network, the CNT/CNT-cluster conductive network exhibits high efficiency for improving electrical conductivity and microwave shielding property.

A Transparent Tunable Broadband Microwave Absorber Based on Multi-layer Structure by Patterned Graphene

As the increasingly complicated electromagnetic environment, it is crucial to develop the performance of transparent microwave absorbers. Here we proposed a transparent tunable broadband microwave absorber, which is consisted of double-layer graphene rings and metallic grids. The microwave shielding properties can be changed by adjusting the dielectric layer thickness, graphene Fermi energy and relaxation time. Based on the simulated results, the proposed transparent microwave absorber can achieve microwave absorption of over 85% at a frequency range of 4.61–9.75 GHz, indicating a relative absorption bandwidth nearly 71.6% and a normalized transmittance of 88.8% in the visible band.

Electrical and shielding properties of epoxy composites with Ni–C and Co–C core-shell nanoparticles

The electrical and microwave shielding properties of epoxy-based composites (CMs) filled with metal-nanocarbon Ni–C and Co–C core-shell particles have been studied for the broad frequency range (16–67) GHz. The decrease of electrical resistivity of CMs with the increase of Ni content in core-shell particles and temperature in the range of 77–293 K was found. The observed sufficient increase of microwave shielding efficiency (32–40 dB at sample thickness of 2.2 mm) in K a - and V-band for CMs with high Ni content correlates with increased electrical conductivity . A high microwave absorption index (0.999 at f = 65 GHz) of (Me–C)/epoxy CMs can be attributed to the enhanced dielectric and magnetic losses. The modeling of microwave absorption capability of 60 wt% (Ni x -C)/epoxy CMs showed that the microwave absorption peaks can be observed only for the narrow frequency range, (18–25) GHz at a sample thickness of 0.6–1.0 mm with the effective bandwidth (2.3–4.8) GHz. • Epoxy composites filled with 60 wt% of (Ni–C) and (Co–C) core-shell particles. • Decrease of electrical resistivity with increase of Ni content and temperature. • Increase of EMI shielding due to enhanced electric loss for higher Ni content. • Reflection loss in (Ni–C)/epoxy composites versus Ni content and sample thickness. • High microwave absorption index (∼0.999 at f = 65 GHz) for (Ni–C)/epoxy composites.

Fabrication and characterization of Fe2O3‐OPEFB‐PTFE nanocomposites for microwave shielding applications

AbstractThe development of microwave shielding nanocomposites based on recycled hematite nanoparticles, oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB), and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) was the main focus of this study. The complex permeability (μ′–jμ″), complex permittivity (ε′–jε″), reflection coefficient (S11), and transmission coefficient (S21) were determined using rectangular waveguide (RWG) connected to a vector network analyzer (VNA) in the frequency range of 8.2–12.4 GHz. The power loss, reflection loss, and total shielding effectiveness (SE) were calculated using the scattering parameters obtained through RWG. The results showed that the nanocomposites' microwave shielding properties can be controlled by tuning the percentage of Fe2O3 nanofiller in the nanocomposites. The values of ε′, ε″, μ′, and μ″ were enhanced by increasing the content of the recycled Fe2O3 nanofiller in the nanocomposites. At 10 GHz, the power loss values obtained for the nanocomposites ranged between 8.52 and 15.64 dB, while at 12.4 GHz, a maximum value of 16.32 dB was achieved by 25 wt%. nanocomposite. The total SE also increased with increasing Fe2O3 loading and a maximum value of 21.2 dB was achieved by 25 wt% nanocomposite at 12.4 GHz. The Fe2O3‐OPEFB‐PTFE nanocomposites have the potential to be used in microwave shielding applications in the frequency range 8.2–12.4 GHz.

Role of coating add -on and substrate material on microwave and EMI shielding properties of coated fabric

Role of coating add-on and nature of textile substrate have been studied on microwave and EMI shielding properties of coated cotton fabric. Coated fabric samples have been prepared with coating formulations containing carbon black and milled carbon fibre in polyurethane matrix, using cotton (non-conducting) and conducting fabric (warp: SS20%/PET80%, weft: SS 55% / PET 45% ) substrate simultaneously. A high precision lab coating machine (Mathis Lab Coater, UK) has been used to produce coated fabric of uniform thickness (0.31- 0.67 mm). Coated fabrics are studied for microwave and EMI shielding properties in 8.2-18.0 GHz (X & Ku) frequency band in vertical and horizontal polarisation of electromagnetic wave. The microwave properties of coated fabric based on cotton substrate are found due to coating add-on only, as the cotton itself does not have any role to play. Cotton - based coated fabric with add-on of 257.7% exhibits 32-43% reflection, 22-39% transmission, 37-42% absorption and EMI shielding of 5.23-7.93 dB in 8.2- 18.0 GHz. On the other hand, microwave properties of coated fabric prepared on conducting substrates are found to produce synergetic effect of substrate material and coating add-on. Coated fabric on conducting substrate with add-on of 185.5% displays 92-82% reflection, 0.17-0.36% transmission, 7.20 - 26.310% absorption and EMI shielding of 23.98- 21.64 dB. Apart from this, coated fabrics are also prepared with gradual increase of coating add-on in order to understand the effect of ultimate coating add-on loading and to obtain optimum threshold combined effect of coating add-on and substrate materials. Sample with coating add-on of 237.9% acquires high surface conductivity (σ = 46.34 S/m) and low surface resistivity (34.25 Ω/□). Coated fabric offers 93.47-79.47% reflection, 6.39-22.07% absorption, <0.2% transmission, and EMI shielding of 28.86- 26.68 dB.

Solvent-Free Conductive Coatings Containing Chemically Coupled Particles for Functional Textiles

The surge in the usage of wireless electronics and communication devices has engendered a different form of pollution, viz. electromagnetic (EM) pollution, and yet another serious issue, EM interference (EMI). There is a legitimate need to develop strategies and materials to combat this issue, otherwise leading to dreadful consequences. Functional textiles have emerged as the modern materials to help attenuate EM waves due to the numerous advantages─flexibility being the most important. In addition to this, there is an inherent advantage of multiple interfaces in coated fabrics that can engender significant attenuation. Herein, we report a coating having multifunctional properties─capable of blocking both UV and EM radiation (predominantly of the microwave frequencies) with flame-retarding properties. The layer described here comprises iron titanate (FT) synthesized from its sustainable precursor─ilmenite sand and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) dispersed in waterborne polyurethane. It is worth noting that FT’s use as a multifunctional material is being reported for the first time. It was observed that a single layer of coated fabric shows an EMI shielding effectiveness of −40 dB translating to 99.99% attenuation and similarly a UV blocking of 99.99% in the wavelength range from 200 to 400 nm. The microwave shielding properties of the fabric were demonstrated using a Bluetooth module, where the coated fabric was able to block the incoming Bluetooth signals to the module from a mobile phone. Besides, the coated fabrics exhibited phenomenal enhancement in thermal stability─a 5% increase in the limiting oxygen index was observed upon the application of the coating. Such exceptional properties tend to complement cotton fabrics’ existing utility, thereby extending their use to specialty applications.

The simulation of the microwave shielding properties of the dual band pass frequency selective surface

Without proper caution, the microwave leakage from a microwave oven door can be harmful to users’ health. In practice, the leaked radiation has to be blocked while the visible light is allowed to pass for a visual inspection of the cooking progress inside the oven. To fulfil the requirements, the door design based on the principle of the frequency selective surface (FSS) was proposed and the gridded square loop pattern was chosen. In the simulation conducted by COMSOL Multiphysics software, the size of the proposed FSS was given as 40.7×40.7 mm with a dielectric thickness of 2.8 mm. Two important characteristics in terms of shielding effectiveness (SE) and optical transparency (OT) of the proposed FSS configuration at normal incidence were simulated and found to be 62.7 dB and 57.5%, respectively. The simulation results indicate that the proposed FSS is applicable to a safety design of a microwave oven door in suppressing the microwave leakage. Parametric studies on the characteristics due to geometrical dimensions and glass substrate thickness were also investigated. These parameters were found to affect the shielding and transmitting performances of the proposed FSS.

Absorption-dominant microwave shielding properties of Sn0.2Fe2.8O4-graphite-PVDF ternary nanocomposite films

Absorption-dominant microwave shields are in high demand for mitigating the effect of electromagnetic interference (EMI) on devices and the environment. In this paper, we describe the development of absorption enhanced ternary nanocomposites and their EMI shielding capability. Polymer based shields have been fabricated by dispersing conducting graphite and magnetic spinel ferrite Sn0.2Fe2.8O4 nanoparticles in electroactive polymer polyvinylidene fluoride. Shielding effectiveness (SE) values in the expected range of 10–30 dB in the X-band region, were achieved with as low as 30–50 wt% of pristine graphite and 1–10 wt% of Sn0.2Fe2.8O4. The industrial standard of 99% shielding (SE ⩾ 20 dB) was obtained with 50 wt% of graphite. The composites exhibit absorption as the dominant mechanism of shielding. The percentage SE due to absorption is about 70% and is tuned upwards by the increase in ferrite concentration. The composites were characterized by x-ray diffraction and vibrating sample magnetometry; thermal analysis confirms their stability. The thin, flexible films fabricated by the simple and cost-efficient technique of solution casting will be extremely valuable as wrap-on shields for X-band microwave attenuation.

‘Effect of yarn composition and fabric weave design on microwave and EMI shielding properties of hybrid woven fabrics’

Ring spun composite yarn (RCY; 755 denier) with linear resistance of 172 Ω/m is prepared with stainless steel (SS) fibre and polyester fibre in ratio of 80%: 20% (w/w). Sheath core yarn system, core being ring spun yarn and PET fibre as sheath material is prepared in various fibre compositions adopting friction spinning technique. For microwave interaction and EMI shielding, hybrid woven fabrics are prepared using sheath-core yarn in weft and SS/PET blended yarn (20% SS/80% PET) in warp in cell structured and rib structured weave design. Samples of woven fabric were evaluated for microwave and EMI shielding properties in frequency range of 8.2–18.0 GHz in parallel and perpendicular polarisation of electromagnetic wave (em wave). Samples having conducting yarn in warp and weft both have shown high reflection in both polarisation of em wave. Sample containing metal fibre content of 32.58% (w/w) prepared in cell-structured weave design containing 1330 and 2017 denier sheath-core yarn in weft and 165 denier (20% SS/80% PET) blended yarn in warp offered reflection of 89.4922–59.9864% in parallel mode and 92.8135–80.0789% in perpendicular mode. This offered EMI shielding of −30.9601 to −35.4659 dB in perpendicular and −17.0209 to −11.2131 dB in parallel mode in 8.2 − 18.0 GHz. Woven fabrics are highly breathable, its air permeability lies in the range of 22.5–26.2 ft3/ft2/s. It inherits high aesthetic values. This hybrid woven fabric finds potential applications in radar camouflage, protection of human being from hazardous effect of microwaves, EMI shielding and electrostatic discharging cover materials, etc.

Coexistence of Zn and Fe ions influenced magnetic and microwave shielding properties of Zn-doped SrFe12O19 ferrites

We present the structural characterization, valence change of Fe, Raman spectra, and magnetic and microwave shielding properties of polycrystalline SrFe12-xZnxO19 (x = 0–1) samples. X-ray diffraction and Raman analyses indicated the samples having the M-type hexaferrite structure. The Zn doping caused a remarkable change in the lattice constants. Investigating magnetic hysteresis loops, we found an enhanced saturation magnetization (Ms) as increasing x from 0 to 0.1, and a reduced Ms as x > 0.1. Nearly the same tendency was also observed for the coercive force. Such changes have been thought to the Zn substitution and the valence change of Fe, as affirmed from analyzing the X-ray absorption data. Considering the shielding properties, we observed the samples with a thickness of 1.8 mm showing a low reflection loss. Among the investigated samples, the sample with x = 0.4 had the lowest reflection loss of about −20 dB at frequency of 11.7 GHz, corresponding to ~99% microwave energy being absorbed. We have considered that both dielectric and magnetic losses contribute to the microwave-absorption properties of SrFe12-xZnxO19.

Microwave shielding and absorbing properties of single- and multilayered structures based on two-phase filler/epoxy composites

The microwave absorbing and shielding properties of epoxy composites with multiphase filler were studied in a wide frequency range of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) (1–67) GHz. The multiphase filler consists of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and dielectric (titanium dioxide TiO2) or ferromagnetic (carbonyl iron Fe) particles. The content of TiO2 or Fe was fixed and equal to 35 wt% and 30 wt%, respectively, while the CNT content was varied from 1 to 5 wt%. It was found that EMR shielding efficiency SET is sufficiently increased with carbon nanotubes content and thickness of the composite especially for epoxy CMs filled with carbon nanotubes and carbonyl iron. The measured complex permittivity data (and permeability for CNT/Fe/epoxy CMs) were used for simulation of the reflection loss RL for studied composites. The simulated data have shown that more pronounced reflection loss $$\left| {\text{RL}_{\min } } \right|$$ = (30–44) dB is observed for 2–3 wt% CNT content in ternary epoxy CMs (sample thickness is 0.5–0.7 mm). For the higher CNT content (4–5 wt%), especially for CNT/Fe/epoxy CMs, the reflection loss $$\left| {\text{RL}_{\min } } \right|$$ was decreased, i.e., the large contribution in EMR attenuation is provided due to EMR reflection on the first air-composite boundary. It was shown that effective bandwidth of $$\left| {\text{RL}_{\min } } \right|$$ at level 10 dB can achieve (8–12) GHz and its position and $$\left| {\text{RL}_{\min } } \right|$$ value can be manipulated by varying the composition and thickness of the composite sample. The absorbing performance of 4-layered composite structures was modeled using electromagnetic parameters of single-layer absorbers based on the three-phase composites and optimal layers composition and thickness were found.

Hybrid structure of MWCNT/ferrite and GO incorporated composites for microwave shielding properties and their practical applications.

To eliminate the increasing adverse effects of electromagnetic pollution in everyday life, the shielding abilities of ferrite nanoparticles, multiwalled carbon nanotubes, and graphene oxide based hybrid composites have been investigated. The conceivable applications of the best investigated shielding composite samples on wearable and construction materials were investigated. Zinc substituted nickel and cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were synthesized using a sol–gel method with average crystallite size of 15–20 nm and incorporated with MWCNT and MWCNT–GO in a 1 : 1 weight ratio. Detailed investigations have been done on the prepared nano-composites by using X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis, magnetic hysteresis loops, and vector network analysis. The microwave shielding capacity of the multiwalled carbon nanotube-zinc doped cobalt ferrite–graphene oxide hybrid composite was significantly enhanced up to 81.6 dB for the thickness of 2.4 mm in the X-band frequency region. Such a high SE indicates attenuation of the entire incoming EM radiation, which corroborates the potential of these materials in terms of high efficiency, tuneable, stable, and lightweight shielding applications. The synthesized MWCNT–CZFO–GO nanocomposite was used as an absorbent and was incorporated with cotton fabric, camouflage fabric, cement, and gypsum for high-efficiency daily life radiation shielding applications. These incorporated shielding samples (52.3 dB for cement, 31.4 dB for gypsum, 40.8 dB for camouflage fabric, and 28.6 dB for cotton fabric) showed a high attenuation capacity with more than 99.999% attenuation of the incident EM radiation establishing a promising behaviour to neutralize the harmful effects of radiation in day-to-day life.

High-efficiency microwave absorption and electromagnetic interference shielding of Cobalt-doped MoS2 nanosheet anchored on the surface reduced graphene oxide nanosheet

In this paper, Co-doped molybdenum disulfide anchored on the surface reduced graphene oxide (Co@MoS2/rGO) has been successfully synthesized using a simple and effective hydrothermal approach to measure their microwave shielding properties. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique confirmed the successful doping of magnetic atoms into the MoS2 lattice. The experiments show that 15% and 20% Co@MoS2/rGO nanocomposite have higher electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (EMI SE) value up to SET ~ 38.26 and ~ 46.02 dB, respectively. But pure MoS2/rGO nanocomposite demonstrates a lower EMI SE value of around ~ 28.90 dB over the frequency range of 8.0–12.0 GHz with a 1.7 mm thickness. A higher value of the EMI SE depends mainly on the doping percentage of Co-ion. This nanocomposite network enhances the defect dipole polarization, electric conduction, interfacial polarization, and impedance matching characteristics. It is favorable for strong attenuation and dissipation loss ability of microwave energy inside the shielding material. The actual role of Co-doping is to form a highly conductive and magnetic channel between multi-interfaces leading to enhance the migration and hopping of electrons at defective sites or interface. Therefore, the 20% Co@MoS2/rGO nanocomposite is considered as novel microwave shielding material and can be widely used in electronic information and communication devices.

Role of cobalt nanowire and graphene nanoplatelet on microwave shielding behavior of natural rubber composite in high frequency bands

AbstractHighly flexible microwave shielding E (2‐3 GHz), F (3‐4 GHz), I (8‐12 GHz) and J (12‐16 GHz) natural rubber composites for antenna application were prepared and characterized. The main objective of this current research is to develop a flexible microwave shielding material to reduce electromagnetic inference (EMI) effect. Graphene nanoplatelet and cobalt nanowire was selected for improving electric and magnetic losses. The flexible rubber composite was prepared using two‐roll mill process and cured at an temperature of 150οC. The mechanical, dielectric, magnetic, and microwave shielding properties were tested in accordance to ASTM standards. Highest tensile strength of 30 MPa was obtained for composite made of 6phr (parts per hundred rubber) of graphene nanoplatelet and cobalt nanowire (NR4). Dielectric results show that the composite consists of graphene nanoplatelet and cobalt nanowire of 6phr gives highest dielectric constant of 7.2. The hysteresis analysis shows a highest magnetization of 940 emu, remanence of 610 emu and coercivity of 2750G for NR4 composite. Similarly, the maximum microwave attenuation of 38.1 dB at 18 GHz (J band) was achieved in NR4 composite. This high microwave shielding flexible composite material could be used as EMI filter and electromagnetic absorber in antennae applications where EMI need to be lesser.
