Cu(II), Ni(II) Complexation with Acid Alizarine Blue B in the Presence of Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide

The coordination reactions of Cu(II) and Ni(II) with acid alizarine blue B (AABB) in the presence of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelle were investigated using the microsurface adsorption-spectral correction technique (MSASC). The aggregation of AABB on CTAB followed the Langmuir isothermal adsorption law. The enrichment of AABB on CTAB sensitized the complexation between Cu(II) or Ni(II) and AABB. The binding ratio of AABB to CTAB was 1:2.5, and monomeric aggregate, AABB2CTAB5, was formed with an adsorption constant of 5.95105 at 20 C or 2.48105 at 40 C. In the ternary complexation, the ratio of AABB:Cu and AABB:Ni were 1:1 and 1:2.5, respectively. Two types of aggregates, Cu2AABB2CTAB80 and Ni5AABB2CTAB80, were formed.

Investigation of Interaction of Proflavine and Naphthol Red in Nucleic Acids by Light‐Absorption Spectrometry

The formation of the double electrostatic films in nucleic acid will cause the aggregation of small molecules on it by a non‐covalent bond. The interaction of the dyes: proflavine (PLV) and naphthol red (NR) with nucleic acids [calf thymus (ct) DNA and yeast (y)RNA] in acidic medium was investigated by the microsurface adsorption–spectral correction (MSASC) technique. Results showed that the aggregation of PLV and NR on DNA and RNA agrees with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The maximal binding numbers of PLV is 0.85 with ctDNA‐P and 0.50 with yRNA‐P and those of NR 0.12 with ctDNA‐P and 0.07 with yRNA‐P. Their binding constants K are 8.13 × 104, 2.15 × 105, 2.20 × 105, and 2.05 × 105, respectively. The effect of ionic strength and temperature on the aggregation was made. The aggregation of PLV and NR in nucleic acids has been tried to apply to the quantitative detection of nucleic acids.

Complexation between rare earth metals and 1, 5-di(2-hydroxy-5-sulfophenyl)-3-cyanoformazan occurring on cetyltrimethylammonium bromide micelle

The microsurface adsorption–spectral correction technique (MSASC) has been applied to investigation of the ternary interaction of 1,5-di(2-hydroxy-5-sulfophenyl)-3-cyanoformazan (DHSPCF) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and rare earths Y, Eu, Dy and Yb. The CTAB micelle enriched DHSPCF molecules on its microsurface in monolayers and then sensitized the complexation between rare earths and DHSPCF. The binary aggregate and the ternary complex both were characterized.

Investigation on molecular non‐covalent interaction in the sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate‐polychrome blue B‐protein replacement reaction

AbstractThe molecular noncovalent interaction often originates from the electrostatic attraction and accords with the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS)‐polychrome blue B (PCB>protein bovine serum albumin (BSA), ovalbumin (OVA) and myoglobin (MB)] ternary reaction has been investigated at pH 3.88. Protein to replace PCB from the PCB‐SDBS binding product was used to characterize the assembly of an invisible‐spectral compound, SDBS, on proteins by measuring the variation of FCB light‐absorption by tbe micro‐surface adsorption‐spectral correction (MSASC) technique. The effect of ionic strength and temperature on the aggregation was studied. Results showed that the aggregates SDBS92·BSA, SDBS58·VA and SDBS15·MB at 30 C and SDBS83·BSA. SDBS39·OVA and SDBS10·MB at 50 °C are formed.

Tetraiodophenolsulfonphthalein as a spectral substitute to characterize the complexation between cationic and anionic surfactant.

The complexation of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) with sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS), with tetraiodophenolsulfonphthalein (TIPST) as a spectral substitute was investigated at pH 5.89 and 8.30 by the microsurface adsorption--spectral correction (MSASC) technique. The aggregations of TIPST, SDS, and SDBS on CTAB obeyed the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The aggregates TIPST-CTAB, TIPST2-CTAB3, SDS3-CTAB2, and SDBS3-CTAB2 were formed at 20 degrees C and the binding constants of all the aggregates were determined. The replacement of TIPST-binding CTAB monomer with SDS or SDBS at pH 5.89 was applied to the quantitative determination of anionic detergent (AD) in water with satisfactory recovery.

Complexation on Micelles and Its Application: Pontachrome Violet SW/Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide/Cu(II) Ternary Complexation

The ternary interaction of pontachrome violet SW (PCV) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and Cu(II) at pH 10.5 has been investigated by a microsurface adsorption-spectral correction (MSASC) technique. The aggregation of PCV on CTAB obeyed the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. Results showed that the binding constant of the CTAB-PCV aggregate was K = 2.68·105 liter·mole−1. The ternary monomer complex Cu·PCV·CTAB2 was formed. The complexation between Cu and PCV is sensitive in the presence of CTAB and selective in the presence of thioglycolic acid, trisodium citrate, and p-phenanthroline, and it was applied to the determination of Cu trace with satisfactory result.

Interaction of Alkali Blue 6B with Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide

The microsurface adsorption–spectral correction (MSASC) technique has been applied to investigate the interaction of alkali blue 6B (AB6B) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The aggregation of AB6B on CTAB obeys the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The aggregate was characterized by MSASC. For the monomer aggregate AB6B2CTAB formed, its binding constant is calculated to be K = 3.01·105 and its molar absorptivity to be 2.45·106 liters·cm−1 at λ = 690 nm. The adsorption has been used to carry out quantitative detection of cationic surfactant in samples.

Establishment of Micellar Catalytic Field Using the p-Nitro-o-Carboxylbenzeneazo-8-Amino-quinoline – Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide – Co(II) Ternary Complexation

Abstract The micellar catalytic field was proposed in surfactant medium by investigating the complexation between p-nitro-o-carboxylbenzeneazo-8-aminoquinoline (NCBAAQ) and Co(II) at pH 8.8. The cationic surfactant, cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) was added and the aggregation of NCBAAQ on CTAB obeys the Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The enrichment of NCBAAQ on CTAB micelle resulted in a sensitive and rapid complexation of NCBAAQ with Co(II). The ternary complexation was characterized by the microsurface adsorption – spectral correction (MSASC) technique. Results showed that the complex Co3NCBAAQ12CTAB78 is formed.

Interaction of Indigo Carmine with Cetyltrimethylammonium Bromide and Application to Determination of Cationic Surfactant in Wastewater

The microsurface adsorption - spectral correction (MSASC) technique has been applied to the interaction of indigo carmine (IC) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The aggregation of IC on CTAB obeys Langmuir isothermal adsorption. The results show that both the monomer complex <TEX>$IC{\cdot}CTAB$</TEX> and the micellar complex <TEX>$(IC{\cdot}CTAB)_{78}$</TEX> were formed. The binding constant of the monomer complex was calculated to be <TEX>$K_{IC{\cdot}CTAB}$</TEX> = 2.20 <TEX>${\times}10^5L{\cdot}mol^{-1}$</TEX>, and the molar absorptivity of the micellar complex was calculated to be <TEX>${\varepsilon}_{(IC{\cdot}CTAB)78}\;^{560nm}$</TEX> = 8.58 <TEX>${\times}10^5L{\cdot}mol^{-1}{\cdot}cm^{-1}$</TEX>. The aggregation was applied to the determination of cationic surfactant in wastewater.

Investigation of biomacromolecular assembly: replacement occurring on proteins

The non-chemical bond interaction between small molecule and macromolecule coming from the electrostatic attraction obeys the Langmuir assembly. The interaction of 1,5-di(2-hydroxyl-5-sulfophenyl-)-3-cyanoformazan (DSPCF) and three kinds of proteins: bovine serum albumin (BSA), α-globulins (Gb) and ovalbumin (OVA) at pH 1.83 has been investigated and then sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) was added to replace the DSPCF binding in protein. The microsurface adsorption-spectral correction (MSASC) technique and the break point approach were both used to characterize the aggregates. Results showed that the products: SDBS 99BSA, SDBS 50OVA and SDBS 25Gb at 30 °C and SDBS 90BSA, SDBS 40OVA and SDBS 20Gb at 40 °C are formed.

Langmuir Aggregation of Thionin in Nucleic Acids and Its Application

AbstractThe microsurface adsorption‐spectral correction (MSASC) technique has been described. The formation of the double electrostatic films in nucleic acids causes the monolayer aggregation of stain molecules. The interaction of thionin (TN) with nucleic acids, ctD‐NA, sDNA and yRNA, has been investigated at pH 7.8. Results show that the binding ratios of TN to ctDNA‐P, sDNA‐P and yR‐NA‐P are 1.27, 1.30 and 1.40, respectively, the binding constants of the aggregates are 2.8 · 104, 9.10 · 104 and 6.49 · 103 and their molar absorptivities are 1.04 · 104, 1.25 · 104 and · 104 L· mol−1, cm−1 at 630 nm. The aggregation may be applied to the spectrophotometric detection of nucleic acids samples.

Langmuir Aggregation of Eosin-Y in Protein and its Application

The microsurface adsorption–spectral correction (MSASC) technique is described and applied to the investigation of the interaction of eosin-Y (EOY) with proteins at pH 3.8. The microelectrostatic fields in proteins cause the aggregation of EOY and it obeys Langmuir isothermal adsorption. Results have shown that the binding ratio of EOY to bovine serum albumin (BSA), ovalbumin (OVA), concanavalin A (ConA), and human γ-globulin (γ-G) are 77 : 1, 23 : 1, 4 : 1, and 83 : 1, the adsorption constants of the complexes were calculated to be 2.82×106, 1.70×105, 1.80×105, and 2.49×104 M–1, and their molar absorptivities 3.20×106, 1.21×106, 1.35×105, and 5.27×106 L mol–1 cm–1 at 540�nm. The adsorption reaction has been applied to the quantitative detection of proteins in samples with satisfactory results.
