Transparent barium titanate (BaTiO3) particle/poly(methyl methacrylate) hybrid synthesized from modified Ba–Ti alkoxide and methyl methacrylate (MMA) showed ferroelectric hysteresis reversals. A Ba–Ti double alkoxide modified with ethylene glycol monovinyl ether (EGMVE) was polymerized with MMA and then hydrolyzed, yielding a transparent BaTiO3 particle/poly MMA hybrid. Free-standing hybrid films synthesized at BaTiO3/8EGMVE/30H2O/5PMMA revealed a refractive index of 1.59 at 589nm. The free-standing hybrid films showed a piezoelectric coefficient of 3.0pm/V. The hybrid films fabricated on Pt/TiOx/SiO2/Si substrates exhibited a polarization–electric field hysteresis.
