The Influences of Mind-Map on Cultivating Students' Metacognitive Capacity

Mind mapping is an effective graphic thinking tool for expressing divergent thinking proposed by Tony Buzan, a world-renowned psychologist and educator. It is a practical thinking tool that is simple, yet effective and efficient at the same time. Mind mapping develops students thinking skills, logical skills, etc. This study aims to investigate the development of metacognitive ability of students through the production of mind mapping. Through a review of related literature, the study found that mind mapping can promote students categorization and organization skills, help students discover and understand new relationships, improve problem-solving skills, and facilitate the deposition of learning outcomes. In addition, mind mapping production requires student participation, thereby improving students metacognitive ability. The literature access suggests that the production of mind mapping has a significant effect on the development of students metacognitive ability, and it should be introduced into education. In the future, the production method of mind mapping should be further optimized, and its application scenarios should be studied to improve students learning effectiveness and metacognitive ability development.

Blended Learning: Interests, Responsibilities, and Students' Metacognitive Abilities Using the Discovery Model

Metacognitive activities in the learning process will help students gain lasting memories and understanding. Students should be directed to achieve high competence through various innovative learning activities, one of which is by applying the discovery learning model. This study aims to describe the interests, learning responsibilities and metacognitive abilities of students through the discovery learning model based on blended learning. This study uses a mixed qualitative-quantitative approach with an embedded research design. The sample in this study were 50 students of class XI MIA at SMA Negeri 4 Jambi City who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection instruments used were learning interest and learning responsibility questionnaires, students' metacognitive ability tests, and interview sheets. The data will be analyzed qualitatively using miles and hubarman and quantitatively using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The inferential statistics performed consist of assumption tests (normality test, homogeneity test, and linearity test) and hypothesis testing (T test and correlation test). The results of this study indicate that there are significant differences between learning interest, learning responsibility, and metacognitive abilities of students in class XI MIA 1 and class XI MIA 2, with a significance value of 0.012 for student learning interest, then 0.010 for student learning responsibility, and 0.007 for students' metacognitive abilities. In addition, it is known that there is a significant relationship between the variables of student interest and the metacognitive abilities of class XI MIA students at SMA Negeri 4 Jambi City, which is equal to 0.000

Analysis of Metacognitive Ability of Middle School Students in Science Learning by Using Reflection Blogs

This study aims to analyze the metacognitive abilities of junior high school students through reflection blogs. This study uses the type of research One-Shot Case Study. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique. Based on the questionnaire data, metacognitive ability was obtained with an average score of 155.5 or 78.94% in class VIII A and metacognitive ability with an average score of 153.15 or 55%. Similar to the results of the questionnaire, the data for writing reflection blogs on students showed a score of 66% in class VIII A and 63% in class VIII B. Based on these data, it was found that the metacognitive abilities of class VIII A and class VIII B students were in the high category.

Improving students’ metacognitive abilities and creative thinking skills through STEM-based in online learning

Creative thinking skills are crucial to current generations dealing with 21st-century challenges. However, studies on higher-order thinking skills remain limited. CTS can be easily empowered if students have good metacognitive abilities. This study analysed the effect of STEM-based online learning lesson plans on the CTS of students and metacognitive abilities on the inheritance of living things through online learning. The pretest-posttest research designs with a non-equivalent control group were used. The treatment given in the experimental class was the implementation of a STEM-based online learning lesson plan, while the control class was taught through traditional methods used by the teachers. The results of this study indicated that the CTS and metacognitive abilities of students in the experimental class were significantly higher than that of the control class [F(1,54) = 105.287, p = 0.000 and F(1,54) = 103.943, p = 0.000, respectively]. In conclusion, the STEM-based online learning lesson plan is effective in improving the CTS and metacognitive abilities of students.

An Analysis of Junior High School Students Metacognitive Ability for solving Numeration Problem

The metacognitive ability of students is low in using and applying the knowledge that has been learned, managing the information obtained, choosing the right strategy, and developing an effective strategy as the basis for carrying out research. This qualitative study aims to describe the metacognitive abilities of junior high school students in solving numeracy problems related to Numbers Data & Uncertainty materials. The research subjects were three grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Salatiga who were selected by purposive sampling technique. The criteria for selecting the subject are able to solve questions 1?4 using appropriate, communicative, and commitment strategies to become a subject. The data were collected through a written test in the form of AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) simulation numeration questions and interviews according to indicators of metacognitive ability. There are aspects of metacognitive abilities that are observed, namely planning, monitoring, and evaluating. The results of the study of the three subjects carried out two indicators of the planning, namely students could plan the objectives to be carried out and sequence the stages of the strategy to be carried out. Indicators carried out by the subject at the monitoring are that students can perform careful calculations and indicators that have not been implemented are students checking answers from the results and correcting errors. In the evaluation three subjects carried out two indicators, namely, the students were able to assess the results and re-evaluate the objectives.

Development of Digital-Based Constructivistic Teaching Materials to Improve the Metacognitive Ability of Disaster Materials Students

This study aims to analyze students' metacognitive abilities and the effectiveness of digital-based constructivist teaching materials. It was done to improve students' metacognitive abilities. This study's method was an experiment with a quantitative approach. In this study, the pretest-posttest control group design was used. The ADDIE model was then used to create teaching materials. The MAI (Metacognitive Awareness Inventory) questionnaire instrument was used to assess students' metacognitive abilities. The treatment was provided to the experimental class by using digital-based constructivist teaching materials in the learning process. The aim is to improve students' metacognitive knowledge and skills. The independent sample t-test SPSS version 20.0 for windows was used to compare the two average values (pretest and posttest of the experimental class with the control class). The researchers then used the effect size test to determine the efficacy of digital constructivist teaching materials. It is for improving students' metacognitive abilities. The results of this study showed 1) From the total results of the validation assessment by experts and teachers of geography subjects, the final percentage of 86.5 percent was said to be feasible and valid to be tested. 2) As metacognition improves, so did the value of the metacognition test, which now had a gain index of 57.59%, which translates to "quite effective." Also, the average metacognition assessment showed good results. 3) Analysis of t-test results where the value of Sig. (2-tailed) for the analysis of posttest data was 0.000. The decision obtained was that H0 was accepted because 0.000 <0.05, then the data was significantly different between the control and experimental classes.

ANALISIS KETERAMPILAN METAKOGNITIF DITINJAU DARI KEMAMPUAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH MATEMATIS MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI KEWIRAUSAHAAN UNIVERSITAS AUFA ROYHAN

This study aims to describe the metacognitive abilities of students in the Entrepreneurship Study Program. The metacognitive ability of students described in the study is the metacognitive ability of students with high, medium, and low academic abilities to solve mathematical problems in students of the entrepreneurship study program. This research was conducted by applying the qualitative method. The informants in this study were the Head of the Study Program and 8 students who were taken using the Total Sampling technique. Data collection techniques used field notes, tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using data reduction. The results showed (1) students who had high mathematical ability had very good mathematical problem solving abilities, (2) students who had moderate mathematical ability had good mathematical problem solving abilities, and (3) students who had low mathematical ability had sufficient mathematical problem solving.

The Effect of Problem-Based Learning on Metacognitive Ability in the Conjecturing Process of Junior High School Students

This study aimed to analyze the effect of problem-based learning on metacognitive abilities in the conjecturing process of junior high school students. To reach this purpose, a mixed-methods design, which is a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, was used. The quantitative method was used to analyze the metacognitive abilities of the students’ conjecturing process, while the qualitative method was used to explore observation and interview data. The subjects of this study consisted of 60 eighth-grade students. Two learning models were compared, namely the problem-based learning model and the conventional learning model. The metacognitive abilities of students’ conjecturing process were measured by a pattern generalization problem-solving test. After collecting the data and analyzing them through the independent-samples t-test, it was revealed that the PBL had a significant effect on the metacognitive abilities of students’ conjecturing process in solving pattern generalization problems. Finally, based on the results, some conclusions and implications were suggested.

Media Flipbooks Terintegrasi Edmodo Mikrobiologi Sebagai Upaya Pemberdayaan Kemampuan Metakognisi Mahasiswa di Masa Pandemi Covid-19

The purpose of this study is to recognize the application of flipbooks maker integrated Edmodo in the course of microbiology in empowering the student metacognitve ability in the covid-19 pandemy. The research method used Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the study were biology students of IKIP Budi Utomo at class B 2017. Instrument of the research consisted of semester learning plan of microbiology, test with Cognitive 5 category; rubric of metacognitive ability; and questionnaire of learning feedback. Data collection techniques used observation sheet and a special metakognitive ability test integrated with essay test with a score range of 1-7. The data analysis technique used qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of research showed that in cycle I the highest score reached level 6 of 21.5%, while in cycle II the highest score reached level 7 amounted to 39.8%. Meanwhile, the average score increased in cycle I, i.e. the ability of students’ metacognitive was 65,5 and cycle II amounted to 83.6. Thus, it can be concluded that the Flipbooks maker integrated Edmodo can empower the students metacognitive ability in the microbiology learning in the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Effect of Guided Inquiry Learning Model to the Metacognitive Ability of Primary School Students

This study aimed at analyzing the effect of guided inquiry learning to the metacognitive ability of primary school students on the material of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB). The type of study was a mixed-method using quantitative and qualitative methods. There were 55 students of 4th grade used as the subjects of study. Two learning models were compared, namely guided inquiry learning model and conventional learning model. The students’ metacognitive ability was measured by means of problem-solving test on the material of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB). The quantitative analysis data used descriptive and inferential statistical tests. According to the results of data analysis, it was discovered that the t-test of sig (2-tailed) from the independent samples t-test of post-test was 0,00 (p = <0,05); this indicated that there was a significant difference on it. This showed that there was a difference of students’ metacognitive ability for both classes in solving the problems of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB) after the guided inquiry learning was implemented. Consequently, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the implementation of guided inquiry learning model to improve the students’ metacognitive ability in solving the material problems of Least Common Multiple (KPK) and Greatest Common Divisor (FPB).

PROFIL KEMAMPUAN METAKOGNITIF SISWA PADA PEMBELAJARAN IPA KELAS VII DI SMPN 13 KOTA SUKABUMI

This study aimed to know the metacognitive abilities of junior high school students in Kota Sukabumi. Metacognitive abilities are the students' ability to plan, monitor, and evaluate the students' learning process. In learning science, metacognitive skills are needed such as planning, information organizing, and monitoring the understanding of learning. The research type was descriptive with a purposive sampling technique. This research was done at Junior High School of 13 Sukabumi of 2019-2020 academic year. The instruments were measured by using the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI). The data categorized into four criteria; very good, good, enough, poor, and very poor. The study shows that the criteria for the abilities of the students are 55% for poor criteria, 39% for enough criteria, and 6% (as many as 2 people) for good criteria. The conclusion of the data is metacognitive abilities of the students are still lacking, suggesting the need for improvement in the learning process both in the assessment and learning model.

The influence of science learning media based digital storytelling towards metacognition ability

Implementation of learning should provides opportunities for students to be able to develop metacognition ability. This study aimed to analyze the influence of Science Digital Storytelling media towards metacognition abilities of students. The study design used is Nonequivalent-Groups pretest-posttest control group. Samples selection are done by random sampling. This study had found that the metacognitive ability of students which consists of five levels of metacognition ability increases. N-gain is at the low category of the control class and was the experimental class. Relations Science Digital Storytelling calculations have been done and the r value obtained is 0, 85 which means that there is a strong relationship between Science Digital Storytelling to metacognition abilities of learners. The test results of the influence of media Science Digital Storytelling is obtained that sig-2 tailed 0.00 <0.05, it can be concluded that the media Science Digital Storytelling has a significant impact on metacognition ability.

Students’ metacognitive ability in solving quadrilateral problem based on adversity quotient

The purpose of this research is to describe the profile of students metacognitive ability in solving quadrilateral problem based on quitter, camper and climber categories. In this reasearch also discuss about the process of students metacognitive answer in solving quadrilateral problem. This research is as qualitative descriptive research. Subject in this research is students 8th grade SMPN 3 Jember. The subjects consisted of three students, one of them is categorized as quitter category, both of them are categorized as camper category, and fourth of them are categorized as climber category. The data is obtained from the Adversity Respone Profile, quadrilateral problem solving test, think aloud technique, and depth interview. Based on the result of research data analysis, student as quitter category in solving quadrilateral problem haven’t the awareness to solve the problem. They are easily to give up when they face the problem. While students as camper category in solving quadrilateral problem have the awareness to solve problems to find solutions. However, when they have got a solution, students at this category do not want to look for the other solutions. While students as climber category in solving quadrilateral problem have the awareness to solve problems to find solutions and they want to look for the other solutions. Based on this result, it shows that the students with the higher of AQ level then they have the higher problem-solving skills and the higher metacognition ability in solving quadrilateral problem.

Improving Students Metacognitive Abilities Through Mind Mapping with Problem based Learning Learning Models on the Concept of Environmental Pollution at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru

The K13 Curriculum requires students thinking skills, especially in the regulation of cognition which consists of planning, information management strategies, monitoring, examination of actions, and evaluation. This study aims to look at the metacognitive abilities of class X students of SMAN 7 Pekanbaru on the concept of environmental pollution through mind mapping with problem based learning models. This type of research was a quasi experiment using two classes, one class as an experimental class and one class as a control class. The experimental class used mind mapping models of problem based learning and the control class used conventional learning. The research design used a pretest-posttest control group design. Data collection techniques used questionnaires metacognitive abilities and description test questions. The analysis technique used the Anova test analysis. The results of the pretest and posttest showed a significant increase in students metacognitive abilities through mind mapping with the problem based learning model of the concept of environmental pollution at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru with a significance value of 0,000. Sig. (0,000) &lt; then H0 is rejected, so it can be concluded that the metacognitive abilities of students are increased through mind mapping with problem based learning models on the concept of environmental pollution.

Pemberdayaan metakognitif mahasiswa melalui model pembelajaran jinemam

The implementation model of learning that empowers students metacognitive has not run optimally. The jinemam learning model is a learning model developed to empower students' metacognitive abilities. This study aims to determine the effect of jinemam on students' metacognitive. The research used was a quasi-experimental study, where the sample is 2016 batch students of Biology Education. Class A as an experimental class and class B as a control class. The instruments used were syllabus, SLP (Semester Lecture Plan), essay tests and metacognitive assessment rubrics. Research data in the form of quantitative data obtained from the pretest and posttest scores and metacognitive assessment rubric scores. Analysis of research data was performed with the ANACOVA test through SPSS 22 software. The results showed that there was an influence of the jinemam learning model on the metacognitive abilities of students (p &lt;0.05). Thus, the conclusion of this research is the learning model of jinemam influences the students' metacognitive abilities.

The Effect of Metacognitive Ability on Learning Outcomes of Geography Education Students

The objective of this study was to analyze the effect of metacognitive ability to improve the geography learning outcomes. This research is expo facto with a quantitative approach. Data was collected from 55 students from the geography education department. Data collection methods used in this study was questionnaires and documentation. The results showed that the metacognitive abilities of students had an average value of 44.57 or that metacognitive abilities were an insufficient category. There was a significant influence of metacognitive abilities on student learning outcomes as evidenced by t count = 6.508 t table = 1.674. The contribution of the influence of metacognitive abilities on biogeography learning outcomes was equal to 0.444 or 44.4%, while the remainder of 66.6% was influenced by other factors.

Individuals development of the metacognitive thinking skills on solving math word problems

Metacognition as knowledge and cognition on cognitive phenomenon and one’s own knowledge on his self-cognitive processes and use of this knowledge in order to monitor cognitive processes. Metacognitive skills refer to a person’s procedural knowledge for regulating one’s learning activities including problem solving. Word problems in mathematics have been vastly included in educational literature mainly due to the fact that the issue is considered to be one of the most difficult in math lessons. This research aimed at investigating the contribution of students’ ability to metacognitive thinking to metacognitive thinking skills in the aspects of prediction, planning, monitoring, and evaluation through the provision of mathematical words problems. The data was collected through tests, Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI-Jr-Modified) observation sheets and interviews. The results of the study showed that the score of students metacognitive ability was 75.80 which contributed to the level of students metacognitive thinking skills at 78.98% in the high category based on the four aspects of metacognitive skills namely 78.13%; 81.25%; 84.38% and 71.88%. Learning through the provision of mathematical problems in the form of words problems can develop students metacognitive skills.

The Correlation Between Active Participation and Metacognitive Ability of Primary School Students through Montessori Learning Method

Metacognitive was the student’s skill in the process of acting (activity) and thinking (mental process). This skill could improve their learning process and memory. Student who had metacognitive skill will be able to control and to arrange his learning activity by himself. Active participation was the interaction both physically and psychologically to think, to interact, to try and to find new things in the learning process. The purpose of this research was to find the relationship between active participation and the metacognitive ability of students, especially in elementary school. This research was a correlation study. Population of this research was 5th grade students in SD Negeri 3 Klangenan academic year 2017/2018. Sample was taken using purposive sampling technique. The data was collected by observation and written test. The instruments for active participation was observation sheets and the instrument for metacognitive ability was a multiple choice test that consist of 20 questions. The data was analyzed using correlation technique using IBM SPSS Statistics 16.0 for windows. Based on the data nalaysis, it was obtained was 0.682. At a significant level 5% then was 0.413. Based on value then it showed that there was a positive and significant corelation between active participation and metacognitive ability of students 5th grade SD Negeri 3 Klangenan.&#x0D;

Development of Oriented Student Activity Sheets Problem-Based Learning Approaches Assisted by GeoGebra Software to Improve Metacognition Ability of Private Vocational High School PAB 12 Saentis

This study aims to describe student activity sheets developed in oriented learning problem-based learning approaches which include: 1) validity, 2) practicality 3) effectiveness 4) improvement of students' metacognitive abilities using student activity sheets in software-oriented problem-based learning approaches assisted by software GeoGebra developed, 5) identified the level of students 'metacognitive abilities in solving problems based on the results of students' metacognitive abilities tests. This research is research and development, the product produced is a student activity sheet oriented to a problem-based learning approach developed using a 4-D development model. The subject of this study was the grade X student of Private Vocational High School PAB 12 Saentis. From the results of the second trial obtained the activity sheet students meet the criteria: 1) valid, good 2) practical, in terms of: a) validator assessment, b) student response interviews, c) teacher response interviews, and d) implementation of student activity sheets 3) effective , in terms of a) completeness of classical learning outcomes, b) student activities, c) student positive responses, 4) there is an increase in metacognitive abilities of students using student activity sheets developed, 5) the level of student metacognition in solving problems only meets the level of strategic ability use, aware use, and tacit use. Analysis of Students Metacognitive Ability in Mathematical Problem Solving in SMP Negeri 4 Bendahara Aceh Tamiang

The purpose of this research is to analyze: 1) the students metacognitive ability in mathematical problems solving, 2) difficulties experienced by students’ metacognitive in mathematical problem solving, 3) process of students’ metacognitive answer in mathematical problem solving. This research is as qualitative descriptive research aimed to describe the students’ metacognitive ability in mathematical problem solving with problem-based-learning model. Subject in this research is class VII in SMP Negeri 4 Bendahara Aceh Tamiang. The subjects consisted of four students; one in high-ability student, one medium-ability student, one low-ability student, and one with the most wrong answers. The data is obtained from the essay test and depth interview. While the object of ths research is the students’ metacognitive ability in problems solving by learning mathematics with problem based learning model on the subject of integers and fractions. based on the analysis of research data, the result that: 1) the mathematical problem solving ability of students with high category at the level of metacognitive Strategic Use, the students medium category at the level of metacognitive Aware Use, and low category at the level of metacognitive Tacit Use. 2) metacognitive difficulties experienced by students in solving mathematical problems include difficulty facts, concepts, principles, and procedures.
