The impact of grandparenting on mental health among rural middle-aged and older adults in China: exploring the role of children's support.

In the rural regions of China, characterized by a pronounced aging demographic and limited resources, a substantial proportion of middle-aged and older adults engage in grandparenting roles. Yet, the literature lacks consistent evidence regarding the effects of grandparenting on the mental health of this cohort. Accordingly, this study aimed to explore the impact of grandparenting on the mental health of rural middle-aged and older adults, as well as the underlying mechanisms. This analysis encompassed 10,881 middle-aged and older adults, utilizing data from the 2018 Harmonized China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). The mental health of participants was assessed using the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression-10 (CESD-10) scale, while support from children was categorized into financial and emotional types. The study employed logistic and OLS regression models to identify the mediating role of child support and utilized the Karlson-Holm-Breen (KHB) method for decomposing this mediating effect. The findings demonstrated that grandparenting had a significant negative impact on depression among rural middle-aged and older adults. Furthermore, children's support played a vital role in mediating this relationship, accounting for approximately one-third of the overall influence. Moreover, the decomposition analysis revealed that both emotional and economic support from adult children equally contributed to the declination of depression among rural middle-aged and older adults. Grandparenting significantly enhances mental well-being in rural middle-aged and older adults, with the support from adult children serving as a vital pathway for this positive impact. Both economic and emotional assistance from children hold equal importance in this dynamic. It underscores the necessity of fortifying the family support system to amplify the support provided by children, which in turn could significantly enhance the mental health of rural middle-aged and older adults.

Is there a link between the inflammatory potential of a diet and mental health among patients with migraine? Findings from a cross-sectional survey

ABSTRACT Aims In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationship between the dietary inflammatory index (DII) and mental health outcomes among patients with migraine headaches. Methods In this cross-sectional study, 262 subjects were included. The dietary intakes were collected using a validated 168-item semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. Items were scored according to their inflammatory potential, so a higher DII indicated a more pro-inflammatory diet. The association between DII and the mental health of participants was investigated using multinomial logistic regression and odds ratio (OR) with a corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) was reported. Results Overall, 224 women and 38 men, with a mean (standard error) DII of −2.96 (0.06), age of 36.1 (0.53) years, and BMI of 25.55 (0.21) kg/m2, comprised our study population. DII was positively associated with a higher risk of depression in patients with the highest adherence to a pro-inflammatory diet compared to those with the lowest adherence (OR = 1.76; 95%CI: 1.04, 3.00; Ptrend = 0.035). Adjustments for age, sex, marital status, smoking status, migraine headache index score, number of family members, mean arterial pressure, medication, physical activity, and BMI intensified the association in a way that the risk of depression was 2.03 times higher in patients with the highest adherence to a pro-inflammatory diet compared to those with the lowest adherence to a pro-inflammatory diet (OR = 2.03; 95%CI: 1.18, 3.49; Ptrend = 0.011). Conclusion Our findings suggest that depression was positively associated with adherence to a pro-inflammatory diet. However, no significant association was observed between anxiety and stress with DII.

Analysis of the Practice of Nautical Activities in Schools

This study focuses on the analysis of nautical activities in school environments. The primary objective is to highlight the pivotal role of educators in optimizing the benefits and mitigating the risks associated with water activities in educational settings. To achieve this goal, ten interviews were conducted, evenly distributed among men and women from different countries who work in nautical activities with students in aquatic settings. Additionally, the Delphi method was employed to validate the interviews with expert opinions in the field from a group of nine experts. The analysis of the interviews revealed three significant dimensions, including safety, benefits, and sports-related aspects. The results demonstrate that nautical activities offer physical and cognitive benefits, promote ecological awareness, and foster values such as group cohesion, leadership, and respect. Furthermore, these activities have a positive impact on the physical and mental health of participants, encouraging socialization and conflict resolution. In conclusion, nautical activities in school environments provide a wide range of benefits but require continuous attention in terms of safety and adaptation for individuals with disabilities. These findings underscore the importance of promoting these practices as an integral part of the school curriculum.

'It just stops me from living': A qualitative study of losses experienced by women with self-reported endometriosis.

To understand the experience of loss in Australian women with endometriosis. A total of 532 participants completed an online survey containing three open-ended questions relating to pelvic pain and activity loss due to endometriosis. Participants were Australian women aged between 18 and 50 years (M = 30.8, SD = 7.1) with a self-reported diagnosis of endometriosis. An inductive, qualitative approach, with template analysis was used to identify and organize themes. A pragmatic feminist perspective was used to interpret the findings. Three main themes were identified: the loss of liberty: 'I'm trapped in the house'; the loss of bodily autonomy: 'I can barely move/breathe/talk' and loss of connection: 'It stops me from being social'. Pain emerged as the greatest concern for participants, preventing them from the physical functioning required to participate in many of life's activities. The losses women with endometriosis experience are wide-reaching, restricting control and choice across multiple life domains. Losses were often unacknowledged by loved ones and healthcare providers, further impacting the physical, emotional and mental health of participants. People with endometriosis were involved in the design of the study, including identifying topics of interest.

The association between dietary polyphenols intake and sleep quality, and mental health in overweight and obese women

BackgroundSleep disorders and mental health issues, including stress, depression, and anxiety, affect many people worldwide, specifically overweight and obese women. This study examined the association between dietary polyphenol intake and mental health, and sleep disorders in overweight and obese women. MethodsThis cross-sectional study included 278 overweight and obese women from Tehran, Iran. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the 21-question version of the Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS-21) were used to assess the sleep quality and mental health of participants, respectively. The dietary polyphenol intake was assessed using a semi-quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) with 147 food items. Anthropometric measurements, body composition analysis, and biochemical parameters were measured according to standard guidelines. ResultsAfter controlling for confounders, the higher polyphenol intake was inversely associated with depression (OR=0.744, 95%CI=0.413, 1.338, P-value=0.046) and stress (OR=0.341, 95%CI=0.158, 0.736, P-value=0.006). Furthermore, the DASS score and PSQI score were negatively associated with dietary polyphenols (P-trend=0.063, P-trend=0.074, respectively). No association was found between anxiety and dietary polyphenol intake. ConclusionsFindings showed that dietary polyphenol intake is associated with sleep quality, mental health, and its components, including depression and stress. However, no statistically significant association was found between dietary polyphenol intake and anxiety.

The New York State COVID-19 Healthcare Personnel Study: One-Year Follow-up of Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants, 2020-2021.

The COVID-19 Healthcare Personnel Study is a longitudinal survey to assess the changing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the New York State health care workforce. We analyzed results from a follow-up survey of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants on the availability of equipment and personnel, work conditions, physical and mental health of participants, and impact of the pandemic on commitment to their profession. We conducted an online survey of all licensed New York State physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in April 2020 (N = 2105) and a follow-up survey in February 2021 (N = 978). We analyzed changes in item responses from baseline to follow-up. We calculated survey-adjusted paired t tests and odds ratios (ORs) using survey-adjusted generalized linear models controlling for age, sex, region of practice, and hospital versus non-hospital-based practice. Twenty percent of respondents expressed continuing concern about personnel shortages at both baseline and follow-up. Respondents reported working approximately 5 more hours on average during a 2-week period at follow-up compared with baseline (78.1 vs 72.6 hours; P = .008). For 20.4% (95% CI, 17.2%-23.5%) of respondents, mental health issues had become persistent. More than one-third (35.6%; 95% CI, 31.9%-39.4%) of respondents reported that they thought about leaving their profession more often than once per month. The association between persistent mental and behavioral health issues and contemplating leaving one's profession was significant (OR = 2.7; 95% CI, 1.8-4.1; P < .001). Interventions such as decreasing the number of hours worked, ensuring health care professionals do not work directly with patients while ill, and addressing shortages of personal protective equipment can help address concerns of the health care workforce.

Formation of the psychological safety of the educational environment in the conditions of the russian-Ukrainian war

Actuality of the research is determined to the growing of number of challengers and threats to the safety and psychological state of children and youth and, as a result, the worsening of gene pool of the Ukrainian nation. The indicated problems were actualized during the Russian-Ukrainian war, that entailed of severe devastating consequences of the psychosomatically health as an adult, and children’s population. It is possible to reduce the influence of risk factors of the worsening of the mental health of pupils and students by way of formation of safety educational environment. After all, it is the educational environment is an open system, in which all tendencies and patterns of development of the surrounding social environment are manifested, taking also the problems associated with the war. In this regard, the possibilities of the educational environment of children’s protect from the influence of negative factors and ensure of favorable physical, mental, spiritual, moral and intellectual development of children are reduced in it. The purpose of writing the article is to implement of a theoretical substantiation of pedagogical aspects of formation of the psychological safety of educational environment and to determine of level of the psychological state of future teachers to organization of the safety and health-saving activities of pupils in a state of war. Results. The contribution of scientists to the development of pedagogical aspects of formation of the psychological safety of educational environment and mental health of participants in the educational process is revealed. The factors of psychological safety in educational environment in peace time and conditions of war are analyzed. During the russian-Ukrainian war, the number of threats and dangers is growing; its lead of worsening of the indicators of the psychosomatic health of pupils and students is shown. The research among applicants for higher education at the University Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav concerning the psychological influence of war on their life’s activities and figure of health is developed in it. The psychological state of applicants during martial law has undergone significant changes. In particular, after the introduction of a number of psychological measure and health technologies at the university, the indicators of the emotional state of applicants are improved. Conclusions. Formation of psychological safety of the educational environment in conditions of the war requires of thorough knowledge of such risk factors of as school threats and dangers of educational environment, which can have destructive influence on the nervous system and psyche of children and adolescents. During the Russian-Ukrainian war, the number of threats to the security of educational environment is growing, it negatively affects on the psychological state of the subjects of the educational process. The introduction of psycho-health educational technologies helps to improve of the psychosomatic state of the body of pupil’s and students young.

Healthy lifestyle and common mental disorders (CMD) in the context of COVID-19

Objective: to analyze the mediating effect of a healthy lifestyle on the mental health of participants in a Virtual Health Fair, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: Cross-sectional of 1,029 people aged 18 years and over. The Virtual Health Fair was organized as a tridimensional, and data were collected through a link on Google Forms, containing the sociodemographic data form, the Eight Natural Remedies Questionnaire (Q8RN), and the Common Mental Disorders questionnaire (SRQ-20). A Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was performed. Results: Most participants were female (69%; n= 729), married (53.5%; n= 565), of higher education (43.2%; n= 458), and Adventist in religious affiliation (56.7%; n=597). On average, lifestyle was categorized as good by the Q8RN score (mean 56.61; SD 11.59), with a deficiency in the practice of exercise (5.87; 4.02). The Body Mass Index (BMI) was overweight on average (mean 26.02; SD 5.24). A prevalence of common mental disorders was 30.2% based on the SRQ-20 questionnaire. Conclusion: Results indicated that BMI, age, education, and religion had a strong protective effect (62%, p&lt;0.05) for common mental disorders, mediated by healthy lifestyle. A better lifestyle, through the eight natural remedies, within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, mediated the protective effects of lower BMI, older age, and Adventist religion on common mental disorders. The practice of healthy habits should be encouraged in promoting mental health during the current and future pandemics.

Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on access to healthcare, physical and mental health among patients with chronic kidney disease in Victoria, Australia.

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the difficulties healthcare systems face to care for patients with chronic diseases. In the state of Victoria, Australia, the government implemented a state-wide lockdown and restricted the delivery of healthcare to limit the spread of the virus. This study investigated the impact of the pandemic on healthcare access, mental and physical health for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Patients with stage 4 or 5 CKD were recruited from the nephrology unit of a metropolitan hospital in Victoria. Participants completed a quantitative and qualitative questionnaire that assessed the impact of the pandemic on their access to healthcare and mental and physical health. The quantitative data were analysed by a series of one-way between-groups analysis of variance (ANOVAs) comparing impact between different time periods since the beginning of the pandemic. Participants (n = 75) completed the questionnaire from 30 March 2020 to 29 September 2021. Participants reported significant disruptions to accessing healthcare in the initial 6 months of the pandemic. There were no significant differences in the quantitative assessments of physical and mental health of participants across the 18 months of this study. The participants' qualitative comments about disrupted normal activities, feeling vulnerable to COVID-19, transitioning to telehealth, feeling isolated and vaccination protection provided further insight into the cumulative negative mental health impact of the extended lockdown. Our findings highlight the importance of optimising telehealth to improve communication between CKD patients and their treating teams and continuing to monitor the impacts of pandemic restrictions on patients' mental and physical health.

Community Corrections Officers' Perspectives of the Impact of Hurricane Maria on the Participant's Mental Health and Substance Use: A Qualitative Content Analysis.

This study explored community supervision officers' perceptions of the individual, community, and organizational challenges confronted by program participants after Hurricane María and their recommendations for future emergency management. A qualitative content analysis was conducted for nine focus group with community supervision officers in Puerto Rico. Participants were asked about their perceptions of how the mental health and drug abuse of persons on parole or probation were affected and the measures taken to address these concerns in disaster response. Narratives expose vulnerabilities experienced by those supervised and the aggregated challenges that impact retention in health and rehabilitative services, all of which can detract from successful sentence completion. The disaster response categories call for a more adaptable approach to overseeing procedures in light of the difficulties involved and recognizing the support of the supervised population who have contributed to community initiatives. Findings will contribute to informing planning, preparedness, and responses that mitigate the adverse consequences this vulnerable population may experience when exposed to future disaster hazards. Addressing emergency preparedness in this setting provides an opportunity to enact reforms in community supervision and improve access to services needed to enable the successful reintegration of individuals into their communities.

Change of Residents’ Attitudes and Behaviors toward Urban Green Space Pre- and Post- COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed and influenced people’s attitudes and behaviors toward visiting green spaces. This paper aims to explore the association between residents’ health and urban green spaces (UGS) through an in-depth study of changes in residents’ use of UGS under the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Wuhan East Lake Greenway Park was selected as the location for the field survey and in-depth interviews. At the same time, an online survey was also conducted (total number = 302) regarding participants’ physical and mental health and their attitude and behavior toward the UGS. A paired sample t-test and binary logistic regression were performed to investigate the association between participants’ health and UGS during COVID-19. The results show that: (1) the COVID-19 pandemic has primarily changed the leisure patterns of parks, with potential impacts on the physical and mental health of participants; (2) the purpose, frequency, timing, and preferred areas of participants’ park visits have changed to varying degrees after the pandemic, highlighting the important role and benefits of UGSs; (3) the physical and mental health of participants and urban development issues reflected by UGS use are prominent. This study reveals that awareness of the construction and protection of UGSs is an important prerequisite for ensuring the health of urban residents.

Incorporating objective behavioral data in gaming disorder research: Associations between time spent gaming and gaming disorder symptoms

BackgroundSeveral factors have now been identified to have reliable associations with Gaming Disorder, including mental health symptoms, quality of life, and time spent gaming. However, previous research has frequently relied on participant self-report to measure time spent gaming, which may be susceptible to systematic bias. This study assessed relationships between both objective logged data and subjective self-report of time spent gaming and gaming disorder symptoms, while accounting for potential confounding or moderating factors such as mental health symptoms and quality of life. MethodStudy participants included 320 North American video game players (79.1% male), with a mean age of 21.84 years (SD = 3.99), recruited to participate in a brief survey and provide consent to link responses to their logged behavioral data. ResultsDespite significant correlations between objective logged and subjective self-report measurements of time spent gaming (r = 0.494, p < .001), we observed meaningful differences between these measures (absolute difference = 5.71 h per week, SD = 6.26), and discrepancies between reports were higher among those who logged more time spent gaming. Both assessment modalities demonstrated associations with gaming disorder symptoms that were significant but small in effect. Moderation analyses revealed that the association between time spent gaming and gaming disorder symptoms did not vary based on participant's mental health symptoms. ConclusionsThis study found differences between objective logged and subjective self-report measurements of time spent gaming that align with previously reported discrepancies observed in other technology use. Several methodological challenges remain regarding how to accurately assess gaming behavior. Longitudinal studies assessing the relationship between changes in mental health symptoms, objective assessment of gaming activity, and gaming disorder symptoms over time are needed to further inform treatment efforts.

Can Volunteer Tourism be a sub-segment of Wellness Tourism?

Wellness tourism is a segment of tourism that has been widely studied, including the motivations that undertake the trip. Throughout the literature review it was possible to observe that the motivations that are the origin of this type of tourism are diverse, highlighting, the achievement of physical and mental well-being, self-development and personal reward, relaxation and escape, exploration and reflection, and enjoyment of a new experience.&#x0D; Smith and Kelly, 2006 approach the concept from a broader perspective, encompassing several segments: new age tourism, nature tourism, adventure tourism, yoga tourism, spiritual and religious tourism, and voluntary tourism. Also, Ali-Knight (2009) and GWI (2018) consider voluntary tourism an integral segment of wellness tourism as well as thermal tourism, spa tourism, nature tourism, retreat tourism, and social tourism. In addition to the fact that the authors mentioned above consider voluntary tourism a sub-segment of wellness tourism, a study by Coghlan (2015) found, through a project of travel experience in the context of volunteering, in which various social activities were carried out, which can achieve a beneficial health outcome, in addition to an improvement in the well-being and mental health of participants.&#x0D; However, throughout the literature review, it was found that studies addressing the motivations of volunteer tourists are scarce, and none are known to address the relationship between the motivations of wellness tourists and volunteer tourists.&#x0D; In order to fill this gap, a qualitative approach was developed based on semi-structured interviews with individuals who have travelled in the field of voluntary tourism. Thus, we were able to compare the motivations recognized in these interviews with those verified in the literature review in the field of wellness tourism, and to realize that, from an altruistic perspective, the motivations of tourists from both segments are coincident. This finding allows us to consider that, from the perspective of motivations, voluntary tourism can comprise one of the sub-segments of wellness tourism.&#x0D; This study will contribute to increase knowledge about the motivations of wellness and voluntary tourism and understand the similarities between these types of tourism.

COVID-19 Worry and Mental Health Among the Economically Active Population in Guangdong, China.

BackgroundThe rapid spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has caused people to worry, which has affected their mental health. This study aimed to access the impact of COVID-19 worry on the mental health of the economically active population (EAP) in a province of China.MethodsAn online cross-sectional survey study was conducted during an outbreak of COVID-19 in Guangdong, China. The survey used the 12-item General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) to evaluate participants' mental health status and was completed by 1,584 of the 1,708 participants (a response rate of 92.74%). Ordinary least squares (OLS) regression models were used to identify the correlation between COVID-19 worry and mental health.ResultsApproximately 42.05% of participants reported that they were very worried or extremely worried about the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19 worry was negatively correlated with mental health (p < 0.01) and exhibited a stronger influence on the mental health of participants who were male, younger (aged 16–45), or unemployed than on the mental health of participants who were women, older (aged over 45), or employed.ConclusionThe findings suggest that COVID-19 worry has generated new inequalities in mental health among the EAP of China. The government should provide more public reassurance and psychological support to the EAP to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 worry and prevent mental health disorders.

Assessment of the impact of participation in recreational activities on mental health of participants in Abuja

This study is aimed at assessing the impact of participation in recreational activities on mental health of participants. The survey was carried out in the city of Abuja using City Park and National stadium as study areas. To achieve the objectives, the methodology used for the survey employed primary data collection through the administration of 250 copies of questionnaire using stratified and random sampling technique. With the aid of the SPSS and EXCEL packages, data was coded and analyzed using frequency tables, percentage, mean score analysis, the Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and Regression analysis. Study evidence revealed that males, particularly youths participate more in recreational activities with a higher involvement in swimming activities. However, the effects vary amongst different respondent, the level of impact ranges from 60% - 90% amongst 50% of the respondents. Statistical analysis showed 39% and 14% correlation between duration and frequency of recreational participation and impact of recreation on respondents’ mental health. While highest educational attainment and religion is significant to variation of impact, Age, gender, marital status, occupation and income showed no significance to variation of impact. The study recommends that there should be continued advocacy campaigns through collaborative efforts of the government, non-governmental organizations, faith and community-based organizations using symposia, workshops, and the radio to enlighten the public on the importance and disadvantages of recreation. The study concludes that recreation could have a positive or negative effect on mental health depending on the duration and frequency of participation as well as the religion and highest educational attainment of participants.

Integrated Nonpharmacological Intervention for Patients with MCI-A Preliminary Study in Shanghai, China.

Objective:Mild cognitive impairment is a transitional state between normal aging and Alzheimer’s and is an internationally recognized pre-stage state of Alzheimer’s. It is the starting point for early detection and intervention in dementia. An empirical study was conducted to determine how medical social workers provide intervention services to older adults with mild cognitive impairment, specific strategies for change, and the effectiveness of the intervention.Methods:This was a quasi-experimental intervention study.Conclusion:Through integrated intervention, the development of cognitive impairment can be significantly delayed, cognitive abilities can be improved (p < .05), and decline in daily living abilities can be significantly delayed (p < .05). At the same time, the mental health of participants can be improved to a certain extent.

"The effects of family therapeutic interventions on mental health and quality of life of children with cancer: A systematic review".

The diagnosis of a childhood malignancy and the following period are very stressful for the little patient and the whole family. Depression, anxiety, and poor quality of life (QoL) are some of the negative effects of pediatric cancer to the children and their parents. Family therapeutic interventions aim to improve mental health and QoL of these children. A systematic search of the electronic database PubMed was conducted for articles that studied the effect of family therapeutic interventions on mental health and QoL of children with cancer. A total of 634 articles were evaluated, of which 10 articles met the inclusion criteria. A percentage of 70% of the studies, representing seven different types of interventions, seemed to be beneficial for the participant's mental health and QoL. The remaining three studies did not significantly improve mental health and QoL. The results of our review indicate that family psychosocial interventions are beneficial for children with cancer. These children and their families are a growing population requiring more patient-centered, time flexible interventions which may enhance family bonding and patients' positive emotions.

The impact of COVID-19 lockdown on the well-being of clients of a specialist personality disorder service.

ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to investigate the well-being of people with severe borderline personality disorder (BPD) during the first wave of COVID-19 social restrictions.MethodClients of an outpatient specialist personality disorder clinic (n = 77) were invited to the study. An online survey was conducted including a range of open-ended questions exploring well-being and the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS) which assesses ‘coronaphobia’. Qualitative data were analysed using inductive content analysis with NVivo software. CAS data were analysed descriptively using SPSS version 25.ResultsThirty-six surveys were completed (48% response rate). Many participants experienced significant challenges to their overall well-being during lockdown although some reported improvements in psychosocial functioning. Three participants (8.3%) experienced clinically significant ‘coronaphobia’.ConclusionThe self-reported physical and mental health of participants with BPD demonstrated resilience, suggesting that the capacity to maintain treatment via telehealth helped to mitigate many of the adverse aspects of social restrictions. This study was conducted during the first wave of social restrictions; subsequent studies will reveal longer-term effects of extended community lockdowns.

Will Smog Cause Mental Health Problems? Indication from a Microsurvey of 35 Major Cities in China.

Using the survey data of 21,861 participants from 35 major cities in China in 2018 and 2019, the effect of air quality on participants’ mental health was empirically tested based on the ordered probit model. The results showed that smog can significantly influence the mental health of participants. The better the air quality, the better the participants’ mental health, while poor air quality results in poor mental health. The older and higher-paid participants demonstrated poorer mental health. Additionally, for different health conditions, the air quality had different effects on the participants’ mental health. The healthier the participants, the more sensitive their mental health to changes in air pollution; the poorer the physical condition of the participants, the less sensitive their mental health to changes in air quality. Therefore, we need to more comprehensively and scientifically understand the effect of air quality on health. We need to pay attention not only to the adverse effects of smog on participants’ physical health, but also to its effects on participants’ mental health to improve both the physical and mental health of participants by improving the air quality.

Aims: We aimed to analyze the peculiarities of educational simplicity and psychological problems under pandemic conditions, to conduct an empirical study among the participants of the educational space, to identify correlations between psychological properties of personality and the level of procrastination.&#x0D; Study Design: empirical study among the participants of the educational space, identifying correlations between psychological properties of personality and the level of procrastination.&#x0D; Place and Duration of Study: 320 students and teachers of higher educational institutions in Lviv took part in the survey.&#x0D; Methodology: In our study we used descriptive and empirical methods with application of elements of statistics - Pearson correlation analysis. In the study we also used the following sociological methods: online survey “Detection of socio-psychological problems, procrastination generated by the COVID-19 pandemic in the activity of educational institutions”, scales of diagnosing emotional states of personality, “Procrastination Scales” by B. V. Takman and methods of FAM (Feeling-Activity-Mood). Place and duration of the study: Dnipro State Medical University, Institute of Kyiv National Trade and Economic University and Medical Institute Sumy State University, of State mortgage «Lugansk National University of Taras Shevchenko» from April to October 2021. We also followed systemic approach, comparative method, weighting and forecasting method, according to which virtual educational environment also opens new perspectives for teachers and students, providing opportunities of access to multidirectional information, which allows to acquire social knowledge, social experience, formulate life prospects and realize personal potential.&#x0D; Results: It was found that teachers and students during the COVID-19 pandemic had a higher level of positive well-being, activity, a higher level of mood than during the pandemic. It was also determined that teachers and students had an increased level of procrastination during the pandemic. According to the results of correlation analysis in the group of students and teachers’ correlation relationships between the indicators: the level of procrastination, mood, well-being was established. It has been established that the crisis has hurt both the country and the population quite badly. Training for pupils and students and teachers changed from full-time to distance learning. This form of learning vividly showed all the difficulties: the motivation of students; their ability to self-education; communication in the learning process; the organization of the learning process. For teaching staff, the main difficulty became mastering digital technology to organize the educational process. Empirically it was confirmed that the emotional state “before” and “during” the pandemic is significantly different.&#x0D; Conclusion: The stressful situation has had its negative impact on the mental health of participants in the educational process, so an important role in this time of crisis is the activity of the psychological service of the educational institution.
