Innovation of Constructivist Teaching Sequences Model Based on Technology in Biology Material

The learning model is a logical stage for learning students. The learning process must pay attention to the steps that become the basic framework for creating an effective and meaningful student learning process. This study aims to innovate biology learning in metabolism material. The innovation is done by integrating several technologies namely Wordwall, Virtual Lab, and Ms. PowerPoint on the Constructivist Teaching Sequence model. The research method used is a literature review sourced from books, journal articles, research reports, and other relevant documents. This research flow has several stages consisting of literature identification, literature selection, literature analysis, synthesis of findings, and learning model innovation design. The result of this research is an innovative learning recommendation using the technology-assisted Constructivist Teaching Sequence model that can be an alternative high school biology learning model.

Relationship between emotional intelligence and meaningful learning in BGU students

The research called the relationship between emotional intelligence and learning styles in educational centers. Its objective was to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and meaningful learning in BGU students from the “Manta” Educational Unit in the province of Manabí. A quantitative, qualitative, and descriptive approach was adopted to generate information based on the results obtained during the Bar-On ICE: abbreviated NA questionnaire implementation. The following hypotheses were tested: Ha = There are important differences in significant learning between the students who show evidence of having developed emotional intelligence and those who have not. Ho = There are no important differences in significant learning between the students who show evidence of having developed emotional intelligence and those who have not.

The Game of Dominoes as Teaching-learning Method of Basic Concepts of Differential Calculus

This paper will present teaching-learning mathematics strategies, specifically differential calculus in a variable, through a fun and competitive space in which action is manifested by the student and not only the repetition of information by the teacher. This action refers to motivate, problematise, summarise, and coordinate a dominoes game whose thematic cards are designed around the basic and main contents of differential calculus. The strategies for teaching this area are diverse and precisely the game of dominoes is one of the most used strategies in the practice of mathematics because it stimulates logical reasoning and mental skills. The objective is to identify the way in which the game of dominoes affects the learning and understanding of fundamental concepts of differential calculus in a variable by means of experimentation carried out on students of the first semester of the School of Engineering and Sciences of Technological of Monterrey. Finally, the results of this study will be presented and the use of this strategy in other topics around mathematics will be recommended to facilitate logical and meaningful learning in students.

Initiating language engagement with multimodal learning tasks

Engaging students in meaningful learning is currently a significant challenge for many teachers and those who observe daily how students’ attention spans are affected by a variety of distractions in the classroom. In fact, engagement has become one of the most fashionable research topics in educational psychology. The present study explores the engagement among five engineering undergraduates for one semester while working on L2 tasks, which entailed the multimodal analysis of 8 technology-related TED Talks and was purposefully designed to initiate them into multimodal literacy and foster their language learning. A narrative qualitative analysis of an open-ended questionnaire that the students completed at the end of the semester shows that the students were working on the task and engaged in the process. All five students acknowledged that they found L2 task completion meaningful because it could lead to positive academic outcomes and help them see the relevance of L2 in the real world. The multimodal L2 task presented in this study may offer a pedagogical scenario that can be replicated by other L2 lecturers across different contexts and communities to develop students’ multimodal competence while initiating their language engagement.

Leveraging epistemic data agency with data visualizations to bridge the gap between data trends and personal experiences

Purpose While designing personally meaningful activities with data technologies can support the development of data literacies, this paper aims to focuses on the overlooked aspect of how learners navigate tensions between personal experiences and data trends. Design/methodology/approach The authors report on an analysis of three student cases from a design study in which middle and high school youth assembled family migration stories using data visualization technologies with socioeconomic and demographic data. The authors used interaction analysis to examine how students responded to misalignments they encountered between their families’ experiences and data trends in their models, drawing on the theoretical construct of epistemic data agency. Findings This case analysis demonstrates ways in which students enacted epistemic data agency. Instructional support can help students deepen inquiry and avoid certain pitfalls, such as encoding data in unsound or misleading ways to support a particular story, while encouraging students to see themselves as an epistemic authority on par with data. This study opens pathways for future research that considers how data can shape personal narratives and how students can leverage their experiences in the stories they tell with data. Originality/value The authors introduce the construct of epistemic data agency to describe the conceptual and material practices that reveal and shape students’ relationships to the data. The descriptions of students enacting epistemic data agency in assembling data stories informs the understanding of how to better elevate and recognize students’ efforts in relation to disciplinary norms and support deeper, meaningful student learning with and about data.

Development of Meaningful Learning from Family-School Integration

The research shows the results of a study carried out on family-school integration as a foundation for meaningful learning in secondary basic education students, belonging to the official sector in the Colombian Caribbean region. The type of research was descriptive, with a deductive rationalist approach and a mixed or complementary paradigm. The sample was made up of sixty-four (64) students in their final year of high school and twenty-four (24) parents and/or guardians, to whom a survey was applied, eleven (11) teachers and one (1) director of the educational institution, consulted through an interview. Once the information was obtained, the triangulation technique was used to cross-reference the opinions, perceptions and beliefs of the actors involved in the comprehensive training of the students. As a result, it was possible to characterize the factors that favor family-school integration, including emotionality, participation, communication, attention and motivation of parents in accompanying their children's academic activities. For their part, schools must organize spaces that promote integration relationships, which represents an alternative to face the dilemmas of the educational context and promote the development of meaningful learning.

El constructivismo y las tecnologías para favorecer la enseñanza aprendizaje de la matemática en el Bachillerato

Constructivism focuses on the student as an active participant in his or her training, equipped with the necessary tools to solve various problematic situations. Faced with the challenge of obtaining better results in the learning of students, in this research an analysis is carried out regarding whether the constructivist approach and the use of technological tools favors the teaching-learning process of mathematics in high school. When analyzing the theories on constructivist learning and the conception of constructive alignment, it is considered that the application in this discipline, together with the use of technologies, would produce great benefits to the training process, which is accredited with the evidence of the results obtained by several authors. It is concluded that this methodology could be favorable for achieving meaningful learning in students, which would allow them to better understand, learn, remember and apply mathematical concepts.

Framework Of Art Pre-Service Teachers' Professional Abilities For Effective Teaching

The effectiveness of art education relies heavily on the professional abilities of pre-service teachers, necessitating a deep understanding and enhancement of these competencies. This study delves into the critical role of art teachers' professional competence in shaping the effectiveness of art education. The study's findings encompass the conceptual framework of professional abilities, its integration into pre-service art teacher education, and its impact on teaching effectiveness in art education. Utilizing a library research approach, this study examines a conceptual framework of professional abilities, including (a)pedagogical knowledge, (b)instructional design, (c)assessment practices, (d)classroom management and (e)professional development. Findings highlight the significance of enhancing professional abilities, such as pedagogical knowledge and instructional design, to improve teaching quality and enrich student learning experiences in art education. The implications of this framework include (a) art teacher education programs, (b) educational policy, and (c) classroom practice. Suggestions include (a)enhancing simulation-based learning, (b)establishing mentorship programs, (c)promoting reflective practice, (d)facilitating peer collaboration, and (e)incorporating technology and cultural responsiveness into art teacher education. Overall, this study underscores the importance of cultivating robust professional abilities among pre-service art teachers to elevate the quality of art education and foster meaningful student engagement and learning.

Disruptive behaviors and its impact on meaningful learning in BGU students

The research called Disruptive Behaviors and their impact on meaningful learning in BGU students. Its objective was to identify disruptive behaviors and their impact on meaningful learning in BGU students from the “Raymundo Aveiga” Educational Unit. For this purpose, the research had a qualitative, quantitative and descriptive approach with the purpose of generating information based on the results obtained during the implementation of the EFECO questionnaire to the students. This questionnaire was made up of 67 items that allowed the evaluation of executive functions such as: emotional control, monitoring, organization of materials, initiative, and working memory. The sample consisted of 40 BGU students from this institution. Some results indicate that, when comparing the knowledge of the electric field, the results obtained at the post-test level show the same trend, that is, an average of 5.25 students was obtained for the first group and an average of 5.45 for the second group. Finally, the alternative hypothesis is accepted Ha = There are significant learning differences between the group that shows disruptive behaviors and the students who do not show disruptive behaviors.

Introduction. In engineering education, there is a continuous effort to enhance pedagogical methods to ensure effective and meaningful learning for students. Objective. This study aims to explore the implementation of real-life practical cases, based on experiential information, as integrative problems within engineering education. The goal is to motivate active learning and arouse interest in students. Discussion. By presenting the example of vehicle analysis in a structural dynamics course, the study examined how these practical cases can be adapted and modified using real data as a foundation, enabling students to actively reflect on and construct their learning. Conclusions. The study suggests integrating real-life practical cases into engineering education, enabling students to reflect on and construct their learning, thus promoting the fulfillment of competencies and aligning with the educational program’s profile.

The Lifetime Fitness Program: Structured Physical Activity for Older Adults and Meaningful Experiential Learning for Kinesiology Students

Physical activity is associated with improvements in both health and longevity and is highly recommended for older adults. Public health and nonprofit organizations have invested considerable efforts to promote physical activity among this population. The present manuscript describes the specifics of the first university-based adult fitness program (Lifetime Fitness Program) and how this program promotes healthy aging through physical activity while serving as an important venue for experiential learning among students. Thus, the goal of this paper is to provide a “road map” to guide strategies and methods to promote physical activity and healthy aging in an academic setting and provide students with meaningful experiential learning opportunities.

Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) is a wedge between Content Knowledge and Pedagogical Knowledge, namely knowledge about the material being taught and how to teach it. The teacher's ability to understand the material and manage learning greatly determines the improvement of the quality of learning in the classroom in realizing meaningful learning for students. This study aims to describe the Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK) for science teachers at the Global Islamic Boarding School Middle School (GIBS) regarding the classification of living things. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques using observation sheets, interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that teachers can balance between two competencies, namely knowledge of material classification of living things and how to teach it using 7 aspects of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), namely Content Knowledge, Knowledge of Specific Context, Knowledge of Learners and Learning, Pedagogical Knowledge, Curriculum Knowledge, Knowledge of General Education Context, Assessment Procedures, Evaluation of Outcomes – Educational Ends, Goals, Purposes, and Values.

The importance of the role of PAI teachers in shaping students' character and morals. PAI teachers as teachers of Islam in schools have a duty to provide good religious education and learning to students, so that students can understand the teachings of Islam correctly and practice them in everyday life. However, the challenge faced by PAI teachers is how to provide interesting and fun religious learning for students. In addition, with the development of technology and information, PAI teachers must be able to develop creative and innovative teaching methods to attract students' interest in studying religion. Therefore, the creativity of teaching PAI teachers is very important in increasing the professionalism of PAI teachers. By having teaching creativity, PAI teachers can provide fun, interesting and meaningful learning for students, so that students can more easily understand the teachings of Islam. In addition, teaching creativity can also improve the ability of PAI teachers to manage classes, motivate students, and improve the quality of learning provided by PAI teachers. Thus, the creativity of teaching PAI teachers has a very important role in increasing the professionalism of PAI teachers and forming good and quality student character.

INQUIRY-BASED LEARNING AND COLLABORATIVE WORK IN UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Objetive: The objective of the research was to establish the relationship between Inquiry Based Learning (hereafter IBL) and collaborative work in university students. Method: The research methodology corresponds to a quantitative experimental approach, with a cross-sectional design. The population consisted of 279 students of the Science, Technology and Environment Studies Program (STE) of the Faculty of Educational Sciences (FCEDUC) of the National University of the Altiplano (UNA) Puno, whose sample consisted of 162 students selected by means of a probabilistic sampling, to which the questionnaire was applied, which allowed determining the relationship between the study variables. Results: The results showed that there is a relationship according to Spearman's coefficient rho = 0.521** which is a positive correlation. Conclusions: Concluding that if students work in teams with the IBL strategy, they could better develop their competencies and capabilities. Originality/value: The implementation of this strategy is crucial to enhance meaningful learning in students in relation to the focus on Inquiry-Based Learning and collaborative work.

Problem-Based Learning and Academic Performance in Medical Technology at A Peruvian Public University

Introduction: Problem-based learning is a didactic strategy that induces autonomous, meaningful, cooperative, and collaborative learning in students. Objective: To describe the relationship between the didactic strategy of Problem-Based Learning and the academic performance of Radiodiagnosis at the School of Medical Technology at the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. Methods: A pedagogical research was conducted at the undergraduate level, of a descriptive type. The universe consisted of 144 students belonging to the Professional School of Medical Technology in the Radiology area of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, who were taking all the subjects, and the sample consisted of 30 students from the Radiodiagnosis subject. Theoretical and empirical methods were applied. To obtain the information, a survey was conducted, following informed consent. Results: The 43.3% have a good evaluation of problem management through the PBL method; 33.3% have a good evaluation of problem orientation and solution search; 36.7% have a good evaluation of team problem-solving; 63.3% have a good evaluation of the integration of previous knowledge; 30.0% have a good evaluation of conclusions in problem-solving; 56.7% have a good evaluation of the PBL method; 43.3% have good academic performance; 60.0% have a good learning category. Conclusion: There are potentials in problem-based learning in the Radiodiagnosis subject among students.

PEMANFAATAN KAMERA LUBANG JARUM PADA PEMBELAJARAN SENI BUDAYA BAGI SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR: IMPLEMENTASI KETERAMPILAN ABAD 21

This article aims to present the results of a study on the utilization of pinhole camera as an alternative media of learning to implement 21st century skills in arts and culture learning in the primary schools through-the activities of making cameras, decorating cameras, taking pictures, and presenting pictures. Literature review is carried out to collect information on 21st century skills and the utilization of pinhole camera in the process of learning arts and culture in primary schools. The discussion puts forward students’ activities in the process of making pinhole camera, using the camera, and doing collaboration with other learning subjects. The result of the study comes up with the ideas of creating alternative learning materials and media through the utilization of pinhole camera which enables teachers to design contented and meaningful learning for students. Subsequently, this may remarkably substantiate the implementation of 21st century skills at schools in actual practices of problem solving, developing creativity, collaboration, and communication, to successfully achieve the learning objectives.

Digital Storytelling Skills of Teacher Education Students

Digital storytelling is regarded as a pedagogical tool that can engage students in meaningful learning. As a result, the importance of digital storytelling has become more necessary among teachers to make learning more meaningful even in the online setup. This study was conducted to assess the digital storytelling skills of the 3rd year Teacher Education students of a Catholic University in Northern Philippines. A quantitative research design employing a descriptive method was used to assess the digital storytelling skills of the participants. The results of the study revealed that there is no significant difference in the digital storytelling skills of the participants, whether they are grouped according to major or field of specialization, in which participants gained low scores, implying that they need improvement in their digital storytelling skills.

Enhancing Mathematical Disposition in Geometry Instruction : The Role of E-Comics in Realistic Mathematics Education

<p dir="ltr"><span>Success in learning mathematics can be measured through five aspects called the five strands of mathematical proficiency. These five aspects need to be taught fairly, resulting in a change in students' mathematical attitudes where this aspect is still minimally looked at and researched. Therefore, the research aims to analyze changes in students' mathematical dispositions by reviewing the role of e-comics in Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This context-based mathematics learning approach is assumed to provide meaningful learning for students. This mixed-methods research with a sequential explanatory research design was carried out on 30 elementary school students by combining quantitative data collection and analysis techniques with qualitative data support. The research showed that using e-comics in RME learning significantly improved students' mathematical dispositions with a large effect size (Cohen’s effect size = 0,98). In a qualitative review involving data triangulation, evidence was found that using e-comics in RME learning has a role in facilitating the development of each student indicator, as evidenced in the high students’ enthusiasm or response in learning both in observations, questionnaires, and documentation studies. In this way, it is hoped that this innovation can be researched and developed further on a more diverse scale and content. In addition, this research provides further opportunities for research and teacher training related to developing RME learning designs and e-comics in learning.</span></p><div><span><br /></span></div>

Integrating Local Science and School Science: The Benefits for Preserving Local Wisdom and Promoting Students’ Learning

<p dir="ltr"><span>Integrating local science into science learning benefits students and the culture. However, science teaching tends to focus only on the scientific content presented in the books but ignores the local culture. This paper explores local science in community cultural activities to be implemented in science learning to introduce students to cultural values following the concept of science. It identifies local science, describes the oral arguments produced by the tribal council, and analyzes the lesson plan by five science teachers in the Nagekeo district, East Nusa Tenggara. The data used in this analysis are observation and identification, interviews, and assessment sheets. The findings show that the local science in Nagekeo cultural activities that can be integrated into science learning includes the traditional unit and measurement systems, Newton's laws in their application to the traditional game, biodiversity in the traditional hunt, the concept of heat transfer, and its application in the construction of traditional houses, and vibrations, waves, and sounds in the traditional musical instrument. Recommendations from this research are embracing local science in science learning to provide meaningful learning for students and preserve local culture for each generation in the future so that it does not become extinct. </span></p><div><span><br /></span></div>
