Fostering Mathematical Proficiency and Creative Thinking Skills in 10th Grade Students Through the 5E Inquiry-Based Learning Approach with Supplementary Media

This research aims to enhance mathematical proficiency and stimulate creative thinking among 10th-grade students through the implementation of the 5E Inquiry-Based Learning approach with Supplementary Media. The study explores the effectiveness of this pedagogical approach in transforming the learning experience and outcomes in mathematics education. The study focused on comparing students' performance before and after the intervention, as well as investigating their creative thinking abilities in terms of flexibility, originality, fluency, and elaboration. The participants consisted of 10th-grade students from a large-sized school in the northeastern region of Thailand, specifically one classroom comprising 40 students. The tools include Lesson plans, Mathematics Proficiency test and Creative thinking skills test. The results revealed a significant improvement in mathematical proficiency following the implementation of the 5E Inquiry-Based Learning Approach with supplementary media, with a notable increase of 37.25%. Prior to the intervention, students scored an average of 4.64 out of 20, which increased to 12.08 out of 20 post-intervention. Furthermore, the investigation into creative thinking skills indicated that students exhibited a proficient level overall, with an average score of 22.60 out of a maximum of 32 points. The analysis of specific dimensions of creative thinking revealed average scores of 5.60 for Originality, 5.78 for Fluency, 5.63 for Flexibility, and 5.60 for Elaboration.

Development and validation of Mathematical Higher‐Order Thinking Scale for high school students

AbstractGlobally, significant attention is given to the cultivation and evaluation of Mathematical Higher‐Order Thinking Skills (MHOTS). This study aims to address the gap in developing and validating suitable MHOTS structures for high school students. In this study, 53 items were determined by experts in the field of mathematics education and scale development. The study group of this study consists of 654 students educated at the high school level. We decided to split the samples randomly in two by designating a random half as exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and the other half as confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). EFA was used to confirm a robust “four‐dimensional, nine‐factor” measurement structure, encompassing four key dimensions, namely mathematical critical thinking, mathematical creative thinking, mathematical problem‐solving, and mathematical metacognitive skills. The scale's quality was assessed through a retest using CFA and the structural validity was evaluated through CFA and correlation analysis. The criterion validity of the scale was also examined using math scores. The results from the double validity analysis showed that the scale had a reasonable and valid structure. The findings established the MHOTS for high school students as a reliable and valid instrument for measuring the level of MHOTS among high school students. This newly developed scale holds promise as an effective tool to assess and enhance mathematical higher‐order thinking in the student population.

Analysis Of Junior High School Students' Mathematical Creative Thinking Ability Reviewed By Gender

This research is motivated by the importance of creative mathematical thinking skills for students studying mathematics. This study aims to analyze students' mathematical creative thinking skills in terms of gender. This study used a qualitative descriptive method. The population in this study was 20 grade IX students of SMP Negeri 2 Cimahi who were used as a sample, consisting of 10 male students and 10 female students who were randomly selected. The instrument used in this study is to provide four mathematical creative thinking questions consisting of indicators of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. The data in this study were analyzed using the value of the percentage of students who had done mathematical creative thinking problems that had been given and then compared based on gender. The results of the research that has been conducted revealed that overall, the ability of female students to think creatively mathematically is valued higher than the ability of male students to think creatively mathematically. This can be seen in terms of the proportion of overall value or certain aspects. Regarding fluency, male students score higher than female students, while female students score higher on flexibility, originality, and elaboration. It can be concluded that gender can affect students' ability to creative mathematical thinking skills.

Students’ Creative Thinking Ability in Solving Mathematical Problems

This research aims to determine the description of students' creative thinking abilities in solving mathematical problems in learning Trigonometry. The research design is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were Class X high school students. Data collection instruments included Creative Thinking Ability TESTs and interviews. The data analysis technique used is time triangulation. This research explores students' creative thinking abilities in solving mathematical problems. The results show that the ability to think creatively Students' mathematics is described based on a review of the answers to the mathematical creative thinking ability test which consists of 4 aspects, namely fluency, flexibility, novelty and detail. Based on the average results of students' answers in solving questions regarding mathematical creative thinking abilities, there were 5 questions, which had different averages, although none of their creative thinking abilities reached the very high category. This shows that students are less able to solve problems with mathematical creative thinking skills. The ability to think creatively at the high strata is at high criteria with an average of 28.6. The highest score achieved by students was 32 and the lowest score was 23.

PENGARUH PENERAPAN BLENDED LEARNING TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KREATIF MATEMATIS PADA MATA KULIAH PROGRAM LINEAR

This research is motivated by the current post-pandemic conditions which have caused lost learning which has an impact on student learning outcomes. This study aims to determine: Does the blended learning strategy have a significant effect on students' mathematical creative thinking abilities in linear program courses. The type of research used is quantitative research using the Pre-Experimental method. The population in this study were active students at the University of Muhammadiyah Tangerang, and through a probability sampling technique, the sampling technique used in this study was a saturated sampling technique where the sample was not randomly selected and there was no control variable. The population in this study were 5th semester students who took the Linear Program course. A sample of 20 people was obtained consisting of 5th semester mathematics education students. The data collection instrument used a mathematical creative thinking ability test. While testing the hypothesis using the t-test. It is known that more than 60% of students have a fairly high ability to think creatively mathematically, students do test questions using different methods and strategies. The results showed that blended learning-based learning had a significant influence on students' mathematical creative thinking skills in linear program courses.

Analyzing the students’ mathematical creative thinking ability in terms of self-regulated learning: How do we find what we are looking for?

This study aims to analyze the mathematical creative thinking ability of grade VIII students at a State Junior High School in Riau, Indonesia, in terms of self-regulated learning. A qualitative design was employed, utilizing descriptive methods through a case study approach, and the participants included 28 students of grade VIII-C. To ensure data accuracy, a data triangulation technique was employed, which included a test for mathematical creative thinking skills, self-regulated learning questionnaires, introductory questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The validity of the data was measured using the Miles and Huberman technique, which involved data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the mathematical creative thinking skills of students were relatively low. Furthermore, it was discovered that self-regulated learning was significantly correlated with creative thinking ability. Specifically, students who exhibited high levels of self-regulated learning demonstrated higher creative thinking abilities than their peers with moderate or low levels. Similarly, participants with moderate self-regulated learning displayed sufficient abilities, while those with low self-regulated learning exhibited poor creative thinking abilities.

Influence of learning motivation on high school students' mathematical creative thinking ability

This research aims to investigate the impact of learning motivation on students' mathematical creativity. Employing correlational research techniques with a quantitative approach, the study focuses on the entire Class X population at MIPA Rajagaluh High School. The purposive sampling method was applied to select 30 students from Class X MIPA 6. Research tools included tests on creative thinking and surveys to gauge students' enthusiasm for learning. Data analysis involved correlation, linearity, and normalcy tests. The results revealed a noteworthy correlation between learning motivation and enhancing students' mathematical creative thinking skills. Learning motivation has a statistically significant influence on mathematical creative thinking abilities. These results underscore the importance of cultivating and sustaining students' learning motivation. It is recommended that teachers actively provide encouragement and guidance to nurture robust learning motivation among students.

Mathematics learning orientation: Mathematical creative thinking ability or creative disposition?

Mathematical creative thinking skill often becomes the orientation of mathematics learning, aiming to enhance students’ creativity in mathematics. Recognizing that creativity encompasses the capacity for thinking creatively and creativity disposition is essential. Building on this conceptual foundation, the primary objective of this study is to develop a comprehensive model illustrating the relationship between students' aptitude for mathematical creative thinking and their creative disposition. The research methodology employed in this study aligned with the framework of cause-and-effect analysis. The study cohort consisted of 36 students, carefully selected by a cluster random sampling technique. The research instruments included a mathematical creative thinking ability assessment and a creative disposition scale. The data was analyzed using the Non-Recursive Structural Equation Modeling. The results showed the reciprocal cause-and-effect dynamic between mathematical creative thinking ability and creative disposition, exhibiting a mutually influential relationship with determination coefficients of 21.83% and 21.05%. This shows that mathematical creative thinking ability is better at explaining mathematical creative disposition than mathematical creative disposition explaining mathematical creative thinking ability, with a relatively small difference (0.78%). This study also concluded that an optimal approach to mathematics pedagogy entails a balanced and simultaneous focus on nurturing mathematical creative thinking ability and disposition.

The Effectiveness Of Problem Based Learning Model Base On Open-Ended To Improve Mathematical Creative Thinking Skills

Abstract: The ability to think mathematically creative students is very important in mathematics teaching. students' mathematical creative thinking ability is still relatively low can be seen from various factors. This study aims to find out how the implementation of Problem Based learning model based on open-ended to improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills, and to determine the effectiveness of open-ended based Problem Based learning model based on open-ended to improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills. This type of research is quantitative research with experimental methods. The population in this study were all grade VIII MTs N 1 Purbalingga students. The sample of this research is students of grades VIII G and VIII H with sampling techniques using Convenience Sampling. The instruments used in this study were pretest and posstes description questions with data analysis using the T-test. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the implementation of the based learning model based on open-ended is done very well, with an observer score of 3.46. From the results of data analysis, namely the T-test, it can be seen that the based problem-based learning model based on open-ended is effective for improving students' mathematical creative thinking skills, it can be seen from the significance value of 0.006 < 0.05, then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, which means that the problem based learning model based on open-ended effective to improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills

Efektivitas Model Pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) Terhadap Peningkatan Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Matematis Siswa SMK

The main problem in this research is the low ability of students' mathematical creative thinking. the purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the problem-based learning model for the mathematical creative thinking skills of vocational students. This research was carried out at SMK Negeri 5 Kuningan. The sample was taken by purposive sampling consisting of class X TKJ D (Experimental Class) and class X TKJ E (Control Class). The number of students in both classes is 70 students. The results of testing the hypothesis on the posttest data using the independent t-test showed that the hypothesis (????0) was rejected while the alternative hypothesis (????1) was accepted. This shows that there are differences in students' mathematical creative thinking abilities after applying the problem-based learning model to the experimental group and the conventional model to the control group. Improving students' mathematical creative thinking skills using the problem-based learning model based on the pre-test and post-test scores (N-Gain 0.4197 medium category). So, the conclusion of this study is that the use of problem-based learning models is effective in improving students' mathematical creative thinking skills, and almost half of students, namely 46.32%, respond well to problem-based learning models in learning mathematics.

Development of e-modules based on brain balance to improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills on geometric sequences and series material

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses pengembangan e-modul berbasis keseimbangan otak untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa pada materi barisan dan deret geometri. Pengembangan e-modul ini menggunakan metode Whole Brain Teaching (WBT) yang merupakan salah satu metode keseimbangan otak. Aplikasi yang digunakan dalam pengembangan e-modul yaitu Microsoft Office Word dan Flip PDF Profesional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan (Research and Development). Model pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah model Plomp yang terdiri dari tiga fase yaitu fase pendahuluan (Preliminarity Phase), fase Pengembangan atau prototipe (Development or Prototype Phase), dan fase penilaian (Assesment Phase).  Instrumen yang digunakan dalan penelitian ini adalah lembar validasi, lembar kepraktisan dan instrumen Uji N Gain untuk melihat keefektifan e-modul. Berdasarkan hasil uji validasi yang dilakukan oleh enam orang validator ahli media dan materi memperoleh nilai rata-rata 94,77% dan dikategorikan sangat valid. Sedangkan berdasarkan hasil uji kepraktisan e-modul yang dilakukan kepada guru dan siswa memperoleh nilai rata-rata 91,3% dan dikategorikan sangat baik. Berdasarkan uji N Gain yang dilakukan di kelas X.3 SMAN 1 Darma yang berjumlah 23 orang siswa memperoleh hasil rata-rata pretest sebesar 43,26 dan hasil rata-rata posttest sebesar 78,47 sehingga diperoleh nilai N Gain sebesar 0,62 dan keefektifan e-modul dikategorikan sedang.

Implementation of the jucama learning model assisted by tangram media to improve students’ mathematical creative thinking skills in plane figure material

The mathematical creative thinking skill is crucial in learning mathematics. However, the problem encountered in learning mathematics in class VII-B at SMP (Junior High School) Wahid Hasyim Malang was that the teacher did not involve students in exploring and providing opportunities to improve mathematical creative thinking skills. In overcoming this problem, the researcher applied the Jucama learning model assisted by tangram media on plane figure material. This research design was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consisted of (1) Planning, (2) Implementation, (3) Observation, and (4) Reflection. The research subjects were 30 students in class VII-B SMP Wahid Hasyim. Data was collected through teacher and student activity observations, end-of-cycle test results, and questionnaires. This research was conducted in two cycles, with two meetings. The results indicated an increase in the percentage of observations of teacher and student activities, end-of-cycle test results, and questionnaire results. The results of observations of teacher activities in cycle I reached an average percentage of 75%, while in cycle II, it increased to 86.875%. The results of observing student activities in the first cycle reached a percentage of 73.125%, while in the second cycle, it increased to 85.75%. The end-of-cycle I test results showed that the completeness of student learning outcomes attained 63.33% with an average class score of 72. In comparison, the completeness of student learning outcomes in cycle II increased to 86.67%, with an average class score of 83.47. The results of the questionnaire in cycle I indicated that the percentage of success reached 46.67%, while in cycle II, the questionnaire results increased, with the percentage of success attaining 83.33%. Based on the results of data analysis, it can be implied that applying the JUCAMA learning model assisted by tangram media could improve the mathematical creative thinking skill of class VII-B students of SMP Wahid Hasyim Malang in the plane figure material.   

PENGEMBANGAN LKPD BERBASIS HOTS DAN PROBLEM BASED LEARNING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN BERPIKIR KREATIF MATEMATIS

Abstract This study aims to produce HOTS-based LKPD products and Problem Based Learning on linear program material oriented towards increasing the mathematical creative thinking skills and to determine the feasibility of HOTS-based LKPDs through the application of PBL models to linear program material to improve students' mathematical creative thinking abilities educate. Data collection was carried out by means of document analysis, conducting surveys, and quetionnaires. This research uses the ADDIE model which consists of five development steps, namely analyze, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The subjects of this study The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA MAN 3 Jambi City and the objects in this study were HOTS-based worksheets. Based on the research results the developed LKPD produces positive responses and can be used in the learning process and can improve students' mathematical creative thinking skills, and the effectiveness is obtained based on the product developed which can improve students' mathematical creative thinking abilities from the results of the pre-test and post-test through the N-gain test obtained a score of 0.62, namely in the medium category and the HOTS-Based LKPD and Problem Based Learning that was developed was effective.

Students' Analogical Reasoning in Solving Trigonometric Target Problems

Analogical reasoning plays a crucial part in problem-solving since it requires students to connect prior knowledge with the issues at hand in learning mathematics. However, students struggle when developing solutions to the issues utilizing analogies even if there is a connection between mathematical creativity and analogical reasoning. The aims of this study were to assess students' use of Ruppert's phases to solve problems and identify students' analogy patterns to solve target problems. This study is qualitative in nature. Of 19 research participants, six were then chosen using the purposive sampling technique based on their levels of mathematical creative ability. Test, interview, and documentation were the data gathering techniques used in this study. The study's findings suggested that good analogical reasoning skills did not serve as a prerequisite for students with strong mathematical creative thinking skills. Only one subject out of three who possessed necessary mathematical creative thinking abilities could go through the four steps of analogical reasoning-structuring, mapping, applying, and verifying. All other subjects were unable to complete the four steps of analogy, and even their creative thinking skills were weak. This was because the students did not comprehend the idea and could not connect prior knowledge with the issues at hand. In order to remind students of their prior knowledge and experiences, it would therefore be necessary at this analogy stage to establish an initial stage before structuring. The format and degree of difficulty of the questions were assumed to be other elements that might influence students' responses. The results of this study are expected to be a reference for further research, namely increasing analogical reasoning optimally as an effort to increase students' prior knowledge and students' mathematical creative thinking abilities in solving mathematical problems.

ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN BERPIKIR KREATIF MATEMATIS MATERI SEGIEMPAT DITINJAU DARI KEMAMPUAN MATEMATIK SISWA

This study aims to determine the ability to think mathematically creatively in terms of the mathematical ability of grade VII students of SMPN SATAP Ligalejo in solving quadrilateral problems. This type of research uses the Qualitative Descriptive method. The selection of research subjects is based on the category of students' mathematical abilities, that is students with high, medium and low skills. So 6 students were obtained from 22 students. The instruments used are tests, interviews and documentation. The data collection techniques used are test, interview and documentation techniques. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis starting with data reduction, data display and drawing conclusions. This study's results showed that students with high mathematical abilities were included in the inter-achievement of mathematical creative thinking abilities quite well, with an average score of 52.46%.  Meanwhile, students who have moderate mathematical ability are included in the inter-achievement of mathematical creative thinking skills are not good, with an average score of 31.15%. Students who have low mathematical ability are included in the inter-achievement of mathematical creative thinking ability is very poor, with an average score percentage of 16.39%.

Pengaruh Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Mind Mapping terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kreatif Matematis Siswa Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar

The goal of this study is to describe the effect of application the mind mapping learning model on the mathematical creative thinking skills of fourth grade students at elementary school using a Nonequivalent control group in experimental research. 34 students from class IV A (the experimental class) and 35 students from class IV C (the control class) from SD Muhammadiyah 2 Pontianak made up the research sample. Data collection methods using instruments like essay tests and measurement methods. According to the findings of a statistical analysis. The experimental class's pre-test and post-test results were 36 and 67, respectively. Pre test and post test results for the control group scores were 40 and 55, respectively. Based on the results of the t-test calculation, tcount (4.202)> ttable (1.996) (α = 5% and dk = 67), Ha is then approved. Results are up to 0.7 in the medium criteria according to the effect size calculation. Thus, it can be said that the use of the mind mapping learning paradigm has a beneficial effect on class IV elementary school students' capacity for creative mathematical thought. 

Creative thinking skill of junior high school students in solving mathematical pattern problems based on sex

The problem and the aim of the study. Nowadays, in the era of digital technology, the ability to think creatively is one of the abilities that students must have. One of these abilities can be developed through learning mathematics. The problem so far is that students' creative thinking abilities in Indonesia have not shown optimal results. To justify this, it is necessary to study the ability to think creatively by looking at the gender aspect of students. So far, many people believe that gender does not affect a person's thinking ability in solving math problems, even though many studies show that women are more patient, precise, and more structured in their thinking. This study aims to determine creative thinking skills in solving mathematical pattern problems based on sex in grade 8 students of Junior High School. Research methods. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The subjects of this study were 8th-grade junior high school students in Madiun, East Java, Indonesia, which consisted of 2 female students and two male students. The main instrument in this research is the researcher himself. In addition, the instrument is assisted by tests of creative thinking skills and interviews. The indicators of creative thinking in this study are fluency, flexibility, and novelty. Results. The results showed that male subjects were able to fulfill all indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency by answering question number one by providing six alternative answers, flexibility by answering question number two by providing four ways of completion, and novelty by giving answers in new ways or different from other students. Female subjects are only able to meet two indicators of creative thinking, namely fluency by answering question number one by providing three alternative answers and flexibility by answering question number two by describing two ways of solving, and unable to meet the indicator of novelty because it does not provide new or different ways with other students. In conclusion, based on research, it was found that male subjects could fulfill all indicators of creative thinking. In contrast, female subjects could only complete two indicators of creative thinking. This shows that male students have better mathematical creative thinking skills than female students. In addition, this study also indicates that the ability to think creatively mathematically is influenced by the sex of the students.

The Application of Comic-Based Learning Assisted by Pixton to Improve Mathematical Creative Thinking Skill Of Class IX SMPN 8 Percut Sei Tuan

This research aims to improve creative thinking skills of students of SMPN 8 Percut Sei Tuan grade IX with material Congruence by using the The Application of Comic-Based Learning Assisted by Pixton to Improve Mathematical Creative Thinking Skill . The subject of this research is the students of class IX.3 of SMPN 8 Percut Sei Tuan in the academic year 2022/2023. The object of this research is students’ creative thinking skills by applying the Comic-Based Learning Assisted by Pixton and is assisted with to material Congruence in class IX.3 of SMPN 8 Percut Sei Tuan. This research used Classroom Action Research as the type of research, that consists two cycles, I and II. The instruments that used are observation, tests. The result analysis revealed that, the observation for mathematical creative thinking skill increased from 61% in cycle I to 83% in cycle II, there are 18 out of 30 students (60%) have attained the standard of mathematical creative thinking skills with mean score 68,06, improved after the execution in cycle II became 26 out of 30 students (87%) and mean 80, with gain index of 0,37 indicating a medium improvement. Therefore, the researcher concludes that applying of Comic-Based Learning Assisted by Pixton to Improve Mathematical Creative Thinking Skill Of Class IX SMPN 8 Percut Sei Tuan with material Congruence.

The Synthetic Strategy and its Role to developing the Mathematical Creative Thinking Skills

This study aimed to investigate the role of the Synthetic Strategy on the development of mathematical creative thinking skills. The study sample consisted of (46) eighth-grade female students who were divided into two groups: an experimental group of (24) students taught linear equations using the Synthetic strategy, and a control group of (22) students taught using the traditional method. An experimental approach was employed, and a test for mathematical creative thinking was prepared. A pre-test and post-test were administered to both study groups, and their validity and reliability were confirmed. The Synthetic strategy was applied to teach solving linear equations. The results revealed a difference in the level of mathematical creative thinking in favor of the experimental group, and statistically significant differences were found between the mean scores of the two groups in mathematical creative thinking skills, which were attributed to the teaching strategy and in favor of the Synthetic strategy. Finally, the study recommended using the Synthetic strategy to teach linear equation and diversifying teaching strategies. It also suggested conducting further studies and research to explore the impact of different teaching strategies on the development of mathematical creative thinking skills.

Identification of Students' Mathematical Creative Thinking Ability in Number Pattern Problems Solving

Improving the learning mathematics process in the classroom requires creative thinking skills. In learning mathematics, creative thinking skill is one of the critical mathematical skills to be mastered and developed by students. Creative thinking adds support to students so that students are more enthusiastic about problem-solving. Creative thinking is exploring different, quality, and task-appropriate ideas. The research aims to describe students' mathematical creative thinking skills in number patterns for the eighth grade of MTs Mamba'ul Ulum Pandaan. This research approach was qualitative. The qualitative design was descriptive qualitative. The data collection process was carried out at MTs Mamba'ul Ulum Pandaan. Data collection techniques were carried out in three ways: observation, tests, and interviews. After the data was obtained, qualitative data analysis was then carried out, which consisted of pre-field analysis and field analysis. Field analysis consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Then, the validity of the data was tested. The study results indicated that students with high mathematical creative thinking skills met four indicators. Students with moderate creative thinking skills met two indicators, while those with low creative thinking skills did not meet any predetermined indicators.
