The Effectiveness of Missouri Mathematics Project Learning Models for Improving Students’ Mathematical Connection Ability on Junior High School

Mathematical connection ability is one of the high level abilities but is still classified as low because students' understanding of the conceptual material given by the teacher, there are still students going through steps in working on the problems given, such as describing a symbol, in completing mathematical concepts, therefore This research aims to examine the effectiveness of using the Missouri Mathematics Project Learning Model carried out at MTs Ibnu Sina Jl. Tegal Overtime No. 105, Pamekaran, District. Soreang, Bandung Regency, West Java 4091, by taking a sample of 60 students consisting of control and experimental classes. The research method used in this action was the experimental method. Based on the results of descriptive analysis of students' mathematical ability data before being given treatment, it showed the highest score was 70, the lowest score was 55 and the average score was 61. Meanwhile, the results of descriptive analysis of students' mathematical ability data after being given The treatment showed the highest score of 70, the lowest score of 55 and the average score of 61. Those given the treatment showed the highest score of 87, the lowest score of 69, and the average score of 77.83. So the average mathematical connection ability of students after being given treatment is higher than the students' mathematical ability before being given treatment.

Analysis of Mathematical Connection Ability with Contextual Learning Model of Simple Fraction Material for Class III in School

Knowing the application of the contextual learning model can be applied in the modeling connections and mathematical connections approach in mathematics lessons on simple fraction material for third grade students of SDN Sepande and knowing the responses of SDN Sepande students to learning simple fraction mathematics by applying the contextual model. In learning mathematics, each student has different abilities. Problems that are often found by elementary school (SD) students in their daily life are problems related to simple fractions in mathematics lessons. Because the concept of fractions is often found in student activities in carrying out various activities in daily life, Elementary School students are no exception. Based on this, the contextual learning model can improve the mathematical connection ability of students. This research method uses qualitative methods with a narrative approach. The population in this study is SDN Sepande Sidoarjo, the object of this research is the third grade students. Using the following instruments: test questions, student response questionnaires, interviews, and observation sheets. The results of this study indicate the difference in the average pretest and posttest data of the experimental group using triangulation techniques. In the results of this study, there are 3 levels of mathematical connection ability at high, medium, and low levels. In the contextual learning model it can make it easier for students to solve simple fraction problems.

Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis ditinjau dari Self Efficacy Siswa SMP pada Materi Pola Bilangan

The mathematical connection ability of students in Indonesia is still relatively low. One of the influencing factors is students' self-efficacy. This study aims to determine students' mathematical connection abilities in terms of students' self-efficacy in number pattern material. This type of research is qualitative with a descriptive analysis method. The research subjects were selected by purposive sampling technique, namely the 3rd-grade students of some of the junior high schools in Garut. Data collection techniques used are self-efficacy questionnaires, mathematical connection ability tests, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that students with low self-efficacy had high mathematical connection abilities, students with moderate self-efficacy had very high mathematical connection abilities, and students with high self-efficacy had very high mathematical connection abilities. Thus, the mathematical connection ability is generally classified as good in terms of self-efficacy.

Kemampuan Koneksi Matematik Siswa dalam Menyelesaikan Soal Investigasi Matematika

This study aims to determine and describe the level of mathematical connection ability of students in solving mathematical investigation questions in grade VII students at SMPN 2 Labuapi in the academic year 2020/2021. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects in this study were 10 students of VII A class at SMPN 2 Labuapi. The data was collected in the form of test results of students' mathematical connection skills in solving mathematical investigation questions at triangles and quadrangle matter and the results of interviews. The test results were analyzed according to the indicators of students' mathematical connection ability, which is being able to connect the mathematical concepts that have been studied and those being studied and to connect the mathematical concepts to everyday life. Based on the results of data analysis, that the mathematical connection ability of students in solving mathematical investigation questions was still in the sufficient category. Overall there were 3 students (30%) in very poor category, 2 students (20%) in very good category, 2 students (20%) in good category, 2 students (20%) in good enough category, and 1 student (10%) in poor category.
 

Koneksi Matematis Siswa pada Tugas Matematis Berbasis Hasil Pertanian: Konteks, Konsep, dan Prosedur Matematis

The mathematical connection is a crucial ability possessed by vocational high school students in solving problems by their field of expertise. Agriculture is a field of expertise that requires a lot of mathematical connection skills to solve various problems. Increasing the ability of students' mathematical connections can be facilitated by the teacher by constructing mathematical tasks in the agricultural sector. This qualitative research using the case study method describes the construction of mathematical tasks based on agricultural products and the mathematical connection ability of students in solving the task. Mathematical task construction is carried out by integrating agricultural product contexts and mathematical concepts. The mathematical task was used in Grade X Agribusiness Expertise students of Agricultural Product Processing. Data retrieval of students' mathematical connection abilities was carried out through tests, observation results, answer sheets, and interviews that focused on connecting contexts with mathematical concepts, connections between mathematical concepts, and connections to mathematical procedures. The results of the student data analysis showed that the ability of mathematical connections was hampered by the ability of the connection between mathematical concepts. It is necessary to increase student's mathematical connections by constructing mathematical tasks with various mathematical concepts.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE ENHANCEMENT OF MATHEMATICAL CONNECTION ABILITY USING ETHNOMATHEMATICS AND THE MOZART EFFECT

The background of this study is mathematics learning outcomes of junior high school students in agricultural areas are still low because they are less motivated to learn mathematics, so that is has an impact on their low learning outcomes. This study aims to find the relationship between musical intelligence and the enhancement of mathematical connection ability by applying Ethnomathematics and the Mozart Effect for increasing students’ motivation to learn mathematics. This study used a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design in grade 7 students at SMPN Bojongsoang 1, Kabupaten Bandung. The instruments used were the test of mathematical connection ability, musical intelligence questionnaire, and observation sheets. The results showed that: (1) there were differences in mathematical connection ability of students who received Ethnomathematics and the Mozart Effect learning with students who received direct learning; (2) musical intelligence has a positive impact on the enhancement of students' mathematical connection ability; and (3) students have a positive attitude towards learning with application of Ethnomathematics and the Mozart Effect, and more motivated to learn mathematics. The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between musical intelligence and the enhancement of mathematical connection ability, and students are more motivated to learn mathematics. Implication of this research for future research and learning practice is that students' mathematical connection ability can be explored and improved in various ways, one of which is by applying Ethnomathematics and the Mozart Effect in mathematics learning, and can be influenced by many things, one of them is musical intelligence. Therefore, in future research, it would be recommended to study the relationship between musical intelligence and the enhancement of other mathematical abilities using Ethnomathematics and the Mozart Effect.

Student’s Junior High School Mathematical Connection Ability Based On The Big Five Personality

Each individual has a diverse personality which is categorized by the Big Five Personality traits and it’s important for a successful education. A successful education especially in mathematics major aimed at the good of student’s mathematical abilities, one of which is good mathematical connection ability. This research aims to determine the mathematical connection ability of junior high school students based on the Big Five personality in Bekasi. This research used qualitative research case studies with data triangulation. Participants of this research were junior high school students in grade ninth. The instrument used in the form is a test description as many as four questions that refer to the indicators of mathematical connection ability and has been consulted with experts and the Big Five personality traits questionnaire that has been adopted. The results of this research describe: 1) mathematical connection ability of the student in Extraversion dimension on indicator 1 was 60%, indicator 2 was 0%, and indicator 3 was 0%, 2) the mathematical connection ability of students in Agreeableness dimension on indicator 1 was 60%, indicator 2 was 25%, and indicator 3 was 25%, 3) mathematical connection ability of students in Conscientiousness dimension on indicator 1 was 60%, indicator 2 was 35%, and indicator 3 was 25%, 4) mathematical connection ability of a student in Neuroticism dimension on indicator 1 was 20%, indicator 2 was 0%, and indicator 3 was 20%, 5) mathematical connection ability of students in Openness dimension on indicator 1 was 64.21%, indicator 2 was 27.37%, and indicator 3 was 34.21%.

The effectiveness of project-based learning assisted by digital module toward mathematical connection ability

The aim of the study is to analyze the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning assisted by digital module in increasing students’ mathematical connection ability. The study was conducted using quantitative method with quasi experimental design. The study population was the mathematical connection ability of grade XI students of SMK Negeri 1 Kandeman with the mathematical connection ability of students of grade XI TAV 1 and XI TITL as the sample. The result showed that Project-Based Learning assisted by digital module was effective in increasing students’ mathematical connection ability. Learning is carried out through virtual meeting. The digital module contains the design of student activities in the implementation of Project-Based Learning according to indicators of the mathematical connection ability. The learning activity was recorded and a link to access the recording was shared to students so that it could be used as learning material.

Mathematical Connections Of Students Based On Learning Style Using Blended Learning

In the process of learning mathematics many students can not make connections in mathematics, thus causing the ability of students in mathematical connections to be low. This problem is characterized by insufficient methods and approaches to improve math achievement in students.The purpose of this study was to find out the difference in mathematical connection ability of students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education (PGMI) IAIN Surakarta reviewed from the learning style by using blended learning. Based on the results of the study showed that there are differences in the ability of mathematical connections of students who use blended learning and expository. Blended learning tends to have higher value than expository learning. Indicators of connection with other science disciplines scored highest for both control and experiment classes. As for the learning style in the highest comprehension experiment class for mathematical connections, students have the type of audio learning style while the lowest for visual learning style type.

Perbandingan Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Siswa antara Model Pembelajaran Discovery Learning dan Ekspositori

The problem in this research is mathematics learning which is still teacher-centered. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the mathematical connection ability of students who received the Discovery Learning learning model was better than students who received expository learning. The method used in this study is quasi-experimental. The population is all students of class X MIA SMAN 6 Garut in the academic year 2016/2017, while the sample is class X MIA 1 as the experimental class and class X MIA 2 as the control class. The instrument used to measure students' mathematical connection skills in learning mathematics was a written test in the form of a description and a non-test in the form of a questionnaire. From the results of data analysis, it was concluded that the mathematical connection ability of students who received the Discovery Learning learning model was better than students who received expository learning, increased mathematical connection skills of students who received high-interpretation Discovery Learning learning models, students' attitudes towards learning mathematics using the learning model Discovery Learning has a good interpretation.

Analisis Kemampuan Koneksi Matematika dalam Pemecahan Masalah Segitiga

This study aims to describe the mathematical connection ability of students in the high, medium, and low categories in solving math problems based on Polya's steps. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods carried out in class VII SMP PGRI 06 Malang in the 2019/2020 academic year. The subjects of this study were 22 students of which three students' categorized into high mathematical connection ability, four students categorized into medium mathematical connection ability, and fifteen students categorized into low mathematical connection ability. The results of this study show that students with the high category of mathematical connection ability were able to connect between concepts by making concept maps and solving problems well. Students with the medium group of mathematical connection ability can connect between concept, but in the episode of implementing the plan and looking back at the results of their work did not do well. Students with the low category of mathematical connection ability cannot connect between concepts, so they cannot understand the problem well and cannot plan problem-solving.

The Implementation of Make A Match Type Cooperative Learning Model to Improve the Mathematical Connection Ability

Mathematics is a discipline that is taught at every level of education in Indonesia. Mathematics are interrelated with each other, and cannot be separated from other disciplines and problems in everyday life. Process standards that students use in learning mathematics include problem solving, reasoning and proof, connection, communication, and representation. This study aims to determine the mathematical connection ability of students who are taught through the make a match cooperative learning model better than the students' mathematical connection ability through the scientific learning model on the line and row material in class XI SMAN 1 Pintu Rime Gayo. This research is a quasi-experimental study using the pretest-posttest group design. The samples taken were class XI MIA 2 as the experimental class and XI MIA 1 as the control class. Retrieval of data in research using tests. The data collected from the test results were analyzed using SPSS version 18 to find normality using the Shapiro-Wilk test and to test the hypothesis using the Mann-Whitney-Test. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that the N-gain average score of students who apply the make a match cooperative learning model is 0.71 (high category), higher than students who use scientific learning of 0.36 (moderate category). From the results of the Mann-Whitney-Test above, the Asymp value is obtained. Sig (1-tailed) is 0.0005 <α 0.05. This shows that the increase in students' mathematical connection ability through cooperative learning type make a match is significantly better than students who get scientific learning.

Analisis kemampuan koneksi matematika dalam mengerjakan soal cerita

The purpose of this article is to describe the mathematical connection ability of students in working on stories on statistics material. This article uses aqualitative approach. The data collection was obtained from the method of documentation, tests, and interview. There are 2 students of class VIII semester II as subjects in this article. The analysis was obtained from the test results of students which consisted of 5 description questions and the results of interviews on 6 indicators of mathematicalconnection ability. The results of the study obtained that the twostudents were less capable of applyingmathematics in other fields of study or everyday life and the relationships between mathematical topics and between mathematics topics and topics outside mathematics. So it can be concluded that the two students have a poor mathematical connection ability in solving story problems on statistics material.

Mathematics Connection Ability and Self Regulated Learning of Junior High School Students Trough Problem-Based Learning Approach

This article aims to examine the mathematical connection skills of students who learn using the Problem Based Learning approach and Selft Regulated Learning compared to those who use ordinary learning. This research is using the experimental method. The population in this study were eighth-grade students of MTs Al-Hikmah 02 Talegong Garut district 2018/2019 academic year with a sample of the study were eighth-grade students of MTs Al-Hikmah 02 Talegong consisting of VIIB classes as a control class and VIIA as experimental classes taken randomly. The instrument used in this study was a mathematical connection ability test in the form of a description of 5 questions, as well as the scale of learning independence. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistic 1.7 for windows program. From this study, the following results were obtained: (1) Increased mathematical connection ability of students with mathematical learning using the PBL approach better than those who used ordinary learning. (2) Learning independence of students who use the PBL approach is better than students who use ordinary learning. (3) Implementation of learning steps using the PBL approach can develop mathematical connection skills and student learning independence. (4) the difficulties experienced by students in solving the problems of mathematical connection ability are found in indicators that understand or connect the relationship between mathematics and other sciences outside mathematics.

Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Siswa dengan Probing Prompting Berdasarkan Nilai-nilai Islam Pada Materi Pola Bilangan

This study aims to determine an increase in the mathematical connection ability of students of class VIII MTs Mathlabul Falah Labuan by using the Probing-prompting learning model based on Islamic values. The method used in this study is quasi-experimental method. Sampling was done by sampling technique saturated with a sample of 40 students from class VIII A as the experiment class and class VIII B as the control class. Based on the results of data analysis, the results show that there are differences in the ability to improve mathematical connections between experimentasl class students and control class students.

PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN ONLINE TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN KONEKSI MATEMATIS MAHASISWA

<p class="Els-keywords">This research aims to develop and produce a valid and practical online learning media to students' mathematical connection skills. Specific targets to be achieved in this research specifically to increase in the mathematical connection ability of students of the Wiralodara Indramayu University mathematics study program for the Secondary Education Mathematics Capita Selecta course. This goal is based on the problem that the learning media used during lectures is learning media that has not been developed by lecturers, preparing for the 4.0 revolution and online learning is one of the impacts of Covid-19. From these problems resulted in the low ability of students in mathematical connections of the Secondary Education Mathematics Capita Selecta course. This type of research is development research using the Plomp model which has four stages, (1) initial stage, (2) design stage, (3) realization and construction stage, and (4) testing, evaluation, and revision. Meanwhile, the device developed was the online learning media for the Secondary Education Mathematics Capita Selecta course. The development of learning media that has been compiled is then validated with validation sheet instruments by expert validators and the criteria are set until the criteria are valid. Limited trials with questionnaire sheet instrument student responses and lecturer responses in Secondary Education Mathematics Capita Selecta course to measure practicality. The data in this study were obtained through expert validation instrument sheets and questionnaires. To achieve valid and practical criteria, it is processed descriptively. The targeted output is to produce online learning media in mathematics education for learning secondary mathematics selective capita courses.</p>

Improvement of Mathematic Connection and Communication Ability at Danau Paris State 1 High School Through Contextual Learning

This study aims to: 1) To find out whether the increase in mathematical connection abilities of students who get contextual learning is higher than students who get ordinary learning. 2) To find out whether the increase in mathematical communication skills of students who get contextual learning is higher than students who get ordinary learning. 3) To see whether there is an interaction between the learning approach used with the students 'initial abilities to the students' mathematical connection abilities. 4) To see whether there is an interaction between the learning approach used with students 'initial abilities to students' mathematical communication skills. The subjects in this study were students of class XII IPA-1 as an experimental class and students of class XII IPA-2 as a control class at SMA Negeri 1 Danau Paris. The results showed that: 1) Increased mathematical connection ability of students who received contextual learning was higher than students who obtained ordinary learning. 2) Improvement of mathematical communication skills of students who get contextual learning is higher than students who get ordinary learning. 3) There is no interaction between the learning approach and initial mathematical ability to improve students' mathematical connection abilities. 4) There is no interaction between learning approach and initial mathematical ability to improve students' mathematical communication skills. Peningkatan Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Mahasiswa Melalui Pembelajaran Matematika Kontekstual

The purpose of this study is to determine the improvement of students' mathematical connection abilities through contextual mathematics learning. This research was conducted on the fourth semester students of mathematics education study programs at the Riau Islamic University. This research is a quasi experiment design research. Determination of the sample is determined by saturation sampling and selection of the experimental class and the control class using simple random sampling. The research instrument was a student's mathematical connection ability test and data analysis using the Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the average N-gain of mathematical connection ability of students who received contextual learning was 0.30, in the medium category, while the average N-gain of mathematical connection ability of students who obtained conventional learning by 0.19 was in the category low. The conclusion of the research is to increase the mathematical connection ability of students who get contextual learning better than students who get conventional learning

Differences in the Mathematical Connection Capabilities of Students Taught by Using Guided Discovery Learning and Problem Based Learning Models Assisted by Autograph Viewed from Students' Numerical Ability

This study aims to determine (1) whether the mathematical connection ability of students taught with Autograph-assisted Guided Discovery Learning (GDL) models is higher than students taught with Autograph-assisted Problem Based Learning (PBL) models, (2) whether there is interaction between the Guided Discovery Learning (GDL) model and the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with numerical ability on students' mathematical connection abilities. This type of research is quasi-experimental research with a population of all students of class XI Pancur Batu Private High School Methodist. This study uses two-way ANAVA. Then proceed with the Scheffe test to see whether the two groups are significantly different. Based on the statistical calculation of the Scheffe test and confirmed with SPSS, it can be concluded that (1) The ability of students' mathematical connections taught by Guided Discovery Learning (GDL) assisted by Autograph Software is higher than that of students taught with Problem Based Learning (PBL) assisted by Autograph Software, (2) There is an interaction between the learning model with numerical ability on the ability of students' mathematical connections.
