Pola Kemampuan Berhitung Siswa Kelas 1 Menggunakan Media Pembelajaran Matematika Susun Balok Angka di SD N Tlogosari Kulon 01 Semarang

This research aims to describe the pattern of mathematical calculation abilities of grade 1 students at SDN Tlogosari Kulon using the learning media Arranging Blocks of Numbers. The background to this research is that grade 1 students' mathematical calculation skills still need improvement, so learning is needed that is appropriate to students' learning needs. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method with the research subjects being all 30 grade 1 students. consisting of 23 male students and 7 female students. The data analysis technique used is by formulating the problem, selecting data, data collection techniques, and research conclusions. The data obtained were in the form of observation results sheets/observations of students' numeracy skills on numbers 1-20 using the Number Block Arrangement media. The results of this research show that the average student's ability to calculate mathematics using Number Block Arranging media has good abilities

Penerapan pembelajaran STAD berbantuan media PANAMA untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berhitung

This research aims to determine the improvement of Mathematics calculation skills by implementing STAD learning assisted by PANAMA media (Mathematics Napier Board). This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with the research subjects being 27 class IV students at SD Negeri Depok 1, Sleman. The object of this research is mathematical calculation skills in the arithmetic operations of multiplication and division. The instrument used in this research was test questions supported by observation sheets. The results of the research at the pre-cycle stage showed a class average of 68.07 with the number of students completing only 10 students or 37.0%. These results increased significantly after taking action in cycle I with a class average of 81.18 and in cycle II the class average was 90.59. In cycles I and II, it was seen that there was an increase in Mathematics calculation skills by 22.2% with the number of students who achieved KKTP at the end of cycle II being 23 students or 85.1%. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the application of STAD learning assisted by PANAMA media) can improve calculation skills, especially in the calculation operations of multiplication and division.

The development of computational skills of visually impaired children of primary classes

With this study, it is aimed to improve the calculation skills of visually impaired children in elementary grades. In this context, it is expected that mathematical calculation skills will gain meaning and target behaviours will be changed with the help of technology for visually impaired children. The study group of the study consists of 78 primary school students who continue to study in voluntary primary school classes. The research was conducted in the fall academic year of 2021–2022. In the study, elementary school students were given training on calculations in a 4-week classroom environment in order to gain calculation and mathematical skills. In the study, the ‘calculation skills’ measurement tool was used to collect data. The measurement tool used in the study was delivered to primary school students with the help of their families and collected. The analysis of the data was carried out using the SPSS programme; frequency analysis was carried out using the t-test; and the results obtained were added to the study accompanied by tables. As a result of the research, it was found that the calculation and mathematics skills of primary school students have a positive effect on education, as well as on motivation in their studies.

The Ability To Calculate Mathematical Multiplication Using Cross Line Method

Elementary school students generally consider mathematics learning difficult, especially in the matter of multiplication, so a method is needed to develop and improve mathematical calculation skills. One method that can be used is the cross line method. This research aims to improve the ability to calculate multiplication using the cross line method. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the subject of research on third grade students of SD Negeri 9 Tanrutedong, South Sulawesi. Techniques of data collection were test and observation. The instruments used were test sheets and observation sheets. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results showed that the use of the cross line method could improve students' ability to calculate multiplication. This is indicated by the increase in: (1) The average score of the ability to count in the first cycle of 67.39 increased in the second cycle to 92.00, (2) The achievement of student learning completeness from the first cycle of 65.22% increased in the second cycle to 100%, and (3) the increase in the average percentage of student activity in the learning process by 77.78% in the first cycle to 94.68% in the second cycle

Reimagining Mathematics: The Role of Mental Imagery in Explaining Mathematical Calculation Skills in Childhood

ABSTRACTEvidence for associations between spatial skills and mathematics has led to the argument that spatial visualization plays a role in mathematical calculation. However, there is no single accepted definition of what spatial visualization encompasses. Here, we investigated spatial visualization in the context of a mental imagery framework. We applied a component model of mental imagery, involving image generation, image maintenance, image transformation (measured using mental rotation), and image scanning, to determine associations between each component and mathematical calculation ability in primary school children (N = 92, age 6–11 years). We found that, after accounting for age, only mental rotation explained significant variation in mathematical calculation. Our findings advance theoretical understanding by demonstrating that spatial visualization definitions, applied to mathematics, should be refined to focus on transformation. This highlights the practical implication that transformation strategies are promising targets for future intervention work, rather than broad visualization strategies.

PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN DASAR MATEMATIKA DAN BAHASA INGGRIS SEBAGAI UPAYA DALAM MENGHADAPI TANTANGAN ERA REVOLUSI INDUSTRI 5.0

Problems faced by students living in the Al-Kamilah foundation are a lack of ability to speak English and a lack of basic mathematical calculation skills. The service team decided to provide continuous training for 1 month. This continuity needs to be conducted to provide a deeper effect for the trainees so that the trainees can maximize the training material in preparation for facing the challenges of the industrial revolution era 5.0. Moreover, the material will be given by Pamulang university lecturers who are experienced in teaching mathematics and English. In addition, the determination of trainers is also based on the background of each trainer so that the trainer can provide teaching material in a way that is easily understood by the trainees so that the trainees can grasp concepts in mathematics and apply English speaking skills in everyday life. Provision of teaching materials continuously has not given maximum results as the service team expected. As a result, it was decided that training needs to be held longer and in-depth to have a significant influence on the mathematical and English language abilities of students who live in the Al-Kamilah foundation. APLIKASI GAME MATEMATIKA DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN MENGHITUNG MATEMATIS

Today's users of gadgets are getting more and more from every year and continuously increasing along with the development of communication information technology. This development has triggered the emergence of various android applications specifically offered to support the sophistication of gadgets, including game applications, business applications, social applications, and educational applications. One android application that has more value is a math game, as if inviting users to play like a game in general but inside it can help develop numeracy skills. In this study, it is very interesting to examine how the application of mathematical games in improving mathematical calculation skills. Most of the gadgets currently used, offer more entertainment, whether it's games or shows that aren't good enough. Therefore the application of this mathematical game application can at least shift the use of the existence of gadgets commonly used for playing or entertainment can be used as a means for learning especially for learning mathematics. This research is an experimental study with a quasi-experimental method that tests a learning with the help of an android math game application through the scientific approach used in the 2013 curriculum. This learning provides a new breakthrough in learning, especially mathematics, because of the presuppositions of learning mathematics it is difficult and scary to switch to being fun and enjoyable with the use of gadgets during the learning process. The Effect of Individual Factors on the Medication Error

Medication error is a major issue in healthcare industry and significant efforts have been taken in recent years to comprehend factors that influence errors in medication. Therefore, the present study aims to examine individual factors that contribute to medication errors as perceived by nurses. 255 registered nurses working in different Jordanian public hospitals have been chosen as samples to collect the study data from. They were asked to complete a questionnaire to assess the perceived individual factors, specifically, on nursing mathematical calculation skills and training as well as knowledge on medication treatment as factors contributing to medication errors. The current study found that the nurses’ mathematical calculation skills, training and their knowledge on medication treatment have significant relationship with medication error. This was proven as the study framework is able to explain 45.6% of the total variance. Consequently, it is recommended that healthcare authorities and hospitals in Jordan should focus on nursing knowledge in medication treatment and the nurses’ ability to perform drug calculation in order to improve the medication system in Jordan.

Mathematical calculation skills required for drug administration in undergraduate nursing students to ensure patient safety: A descriptive study: Drug calculation skills in nursing students

In the literature we found many studies that confirmed our concerns about nursing students' poor maths skills that directly impact on their ability to correctly calculate drug dosages with very serious consequences for patient safety.The aim of our study was to explore where students had most difficulty and identify appropriate educational interventions to bridge their mathematical knowledge gaps.This was a quali-quantitative descriptive study that included a sample of 726 undergraduate nursing students. We identified exactly where students had most difficulty and identified appropriate educational interventions to bridge their mathematical knowledge gaps.We found that the undergraduate nursing students mainly had difficulty with basic maths principles. Specific learning interventions are needed to improve their basic maths skills and their dosage calculation skills. For this purpose, we identified safeMedicate and eDose™ (Authentic World Ltd.), only that they are only available in English. In the near future we hope to set up a partnership to work together on the Italian version of these tools.

Intentional and automatic numerical processing as predictors of mathematical abilities in primary school children.

Previous studies have suggested that numerical processing relates to mathematical performance, but it seems that such relationship is more evident for intentional than for automatic numerical processing. In the present study we assessed the relationship between the two types of numerical processing and specific mathematical abilities in a sample of 109 children in grades 1–6. Participants were tested in an ample range of mathematical tests and also performed both a numerical and a size comparison task. The results showed that numerical processing related to mathematical performance only when inhibitory control was involved in the comparison tasks. Concretely, we found that intentional numerical processing, as indexed by the numerical distance effect in the numerical comparison task, was related to mathematical reasoning skills only when the task-irrelevant dimension (the physical size) was incongruent; whereas automatic numerical processing, indexed by the congruency effect in the size comparison task, was related to mathematical calculation skills only when digits were separated by small distance. The observed double dissociation highlights the relevance of both intentional and automatic numerical processing in mathematical skills, but when inhibitory control is also involved.

Applying a Conceptual Mini Game for Supporting Simple Mathematical Calculation Skills: Students’ Perceptions and Considerations

Mathematics is an area of study that particularly lacks student enthusiasm. Nevertheless, with the help of educational games, any phobias concerning mathematics can be considerably decreased and mathematics can become more appealing. In this study, an educational game addressing mathematics was designed, developed and evaluated by a sample of 33 students of the fifth grade of a primary school. Each student played the educational game “Playing with Numbers” (PwN), performing additions with integers, additions with decimals and multiplications with integers for a total of one hour, divided into four sessions. Next, the sample was asked to provide feedback regarding specific questions, and the analysis of the results showed that the PwN application is attractive and delivers usage. The attraction of the PwN game probably owes its success to its competitive element, as users are driven to achieve high scores. The PwN application was also found to be easy to use, and this made the challenge of achieving a high score more appealing, as success depended only on the cognitive skills of the user and not on any weaknesses or difficulties raised by the application itself. The findings of this study show that students would benefit from educational games and would be happy to work within an environment that motivated them and indirectly forced them to deal with mathematical operations while playing.

Semantic, Executive, and Visuospatial Abilities in Mathematical Reasoning of Referred College Students

Semantic retrieval (SR) and executive-procedural (EP), but not visuospatial (VS) skills, have been found to be uniquely predictive of mathematical calculation skills in a sample of clinically referred college students. This study set out to cross-validate these results in an independent sample of clinically referred college students (N = 337) as well as extend them by examination of the contributions of these cognitive domains to math reasoning skills. Results indicate that these cognitive domains were able to predict 30% of the variance in calculation skills and 50% of the variance in math reasoning; however, in both cases, only the domains of semantic retrieval and visuospatial skill contributed uniquely. Differences between studies, and the lack of unique contribution of the EP domain to either type of math skill, may be due to measurement and sampling differences, the degree of shared relations among domains, and the choice of measures that represent the EP domain. Implications and future directions are explored.

Patterns of academic achievement among patients treated early with phenylketonuria.

This paper provides a review of recent studies investigating the academic achievement of patients treated for phenylketonuria. These studies consistently indicate that these patients demonstrate mild academic difficulties, primarily with mathematics but with reading and spelling skills as well. In addition to the review of previous studies, academic achievement results are presented for a sample of 32 school-age, early-treated patients with phenylketonuria. Consistent with previous studies, results from the current study suggest that patients in this sample demonstrate mild difficulties with basic spelling and basic mathematical calculation skills.
