Building information modeling (BIM) implementation and construction project success in Malaysian construction industry: mediating role of project control

PurposeThe primary objective of this study is to analyze the correlation between the application of building information modeling (BIM), the construction project success (CPS) and project control. Additionally, this research aims to explore the potential mediating effect of project control on the link between BIM and construction project success in the Malaysian construction industry.Design/methodology/approachThe present study employs a quantitative research methodology and adheres to a positivist research philosophy in order to examine the influence of BIM implementation on the CPS and project control within the Malaysian construction sector. The data were collected by structured questionnaire survey from 200 respondents using a purposive sampling strategy, and the results were analyzed by using partial least square (PLS)-structural equation modeling (SEM). The study's findings are all the more noteworthy since, despite the small sample size, 218 persons genuinely participated thanks to the purposive sampling approach.FindingsThe findings of this study indicate that there are notable and positive associations between various variables related to the implementation of BIM. These variables include accurate quantities and estimations, risk management, facility management integration, optimized resource allocation and real-time monitoring. Furthermore, these relationships are observed to have a significant impact on both CPS and project control. The study revealed that project control serves as a mediator in the relationship between the deployment of BIM and the CPS in the Malaysian construction sector, with the exception of its influence on risk management.Originality/valueThe originality of this research consists in examining the mediating function of project control in the relationship between BIM implementation and CPS. This study contributes to the existing knowledge by enhancing our understanding of the processes via which BIM positively influences project outcomes.

A Recent Study on Industrialized Building System (IBS) in Malaysian Construction Industry: A Systematic Review

The construction sector has witnessed a significant increase in the use of Industrialized Building Systems (IBS) as a viable remedy for challenges related to productivity, cost effectiveness, and sustainability. Nevertheless, despite the increasing attention and extensive study conducted on this subject, there exists a significant requirement for a thorough and current evaluation of the most recent advancements in the field of Industrialized Building Systems (IBS). The primary aim of this systematic review is to fill in the current gaps in knowledge by undertaking a thorough examination of the current scientific literature and to give a thorough and up-to-date summary of the current research results on Industrialized Building Systems (IBS) in the Malaysian construction sector using a rigorous methodology that includes systematic search, screening, and synthesis. The expected outcomes are the recognition of developing patterns, inventive technology, and original methodologies in the application of IBS, along by a thorough analysis of their consequences and any obstacles. This article seeks to make a substantial contribution to the academic discussion on Industrialized Building Systems (IBS) by integrating the most recent findings. The final primary data was evaluated after a thorough search of the Scopus and Web of Science databases (n = 23). This systematic study aims to provide industry professionals, policymakers, and researchers with an understanding of the current advancements in the field. Furthermore, this study also aims to provide valuable insights for future research endeavours and practical implementations in the dynamic field of building.

Stakeholders' Perception on the Current Practices of Industrial Building System (IBS) Construction Technology

The Industrialised Building System (IBS) has been adopted in the Malaysian construction sector to replace the conventional building approach. Despite the government's attempts to encourage IBS adoption, the use of IBS in Malaysian building projects remains low. This study aims to gather stakeholders' views on drivers, barriers, and strategies to improve IBS implementation in Malaysia. About 52 questionnaires were received from IBS stakeholders in Johor such as consulting firms, contractors and IBS manufacturers. Average Index Analysis was used to analyse the questionnaire data on the main factors: current drivers, factors when considering IBS construction, current barriers and strategies to increase IBS construction. From the questionnaire survey, among the main drivers of IBS construction in Malaysia are technology advancement, reduce completion time and improve quality and productivity. Stakeholders also perceived that supervision on continuous and regular improvements and IBS implementation needs planning for productive process among the main factors when considering IBS construction. Meanwhile, the main barriers for IBS construction perceived are high initial cost investment in projects related to IBS construction, lack of skilled workers and unable to adapt instant changes to design modification in IBS construction. Several main strategies were noted to enhance the IBS implementation such as improving the balance between supply and market demand, innovation in creating eco-friendly sustainable construction and factory production optimization for IBS items. The outcomes of the study could assist relevant parties to understand the current drivers and barriers of IBS construction, and further help them to enhance the IBS implementation in Malaysia.

Enhancing construction site performance through technology and management practices as material waste mitigation in the Malaysian construction industry

The construction industry, increasingly prioritizing sustainability, necessitates an exploration of technology and management's role in mitigating material waste at construction sites. This study examines the impact of 3R, IBS, BIM, and MMA in enhancing Construction Site Performance (CSP) in the Malaysian construction sector. Seven hypotheses were formulated to assess the relationship between technology adoption, material management practices, and the moderating influence of Material Management Adoption (MMA) on CSP. Data were collected through an online survey from 295 valid responses in the Malaysian construction sector, focusing on professionals involved in solid waste management. Utilizing Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), the findings highlight the importance of technological integration, efficient material management, and competitive strategies in effective material waste mitigation. Furthermore, the qualitative aspect of the study, conducted among 6 solid waste organizations in Malaysia, enriches the findings by providing nuanced insights into local practices and challenges. Emphasizing the importance of contextual insights, the study addresses professionals involved in solid waste management within the Malaysian construction industry. The geographical specificity adds depth to the analysis, offering a comprehensive understanding of regional dynamics. Despite acknowledging limitations in technology and material usage, the study offers recommendations for refining waste mitigation and improving construction site performance. This research model offers actionable insights for construction site stakeholders, emphasizing the criticality of waste mitigation and CSP. The results, both quantitative and qualitative, underscore the potential of these practices within the Malaysian construction industry to foster innovation and drive positive change.

Sustainability Disclosure in The Malaysian Construction Sector: The Effect of Community and Media Legitimacies

"Research Aims: The objective of the study is to examine the effects of stakeholder pressure on sustainability disclosure (SD). The study includes the effect of community on SD when the company considers the media as one of the legitimate stakeholders. Design/Methodology/Approach: Stakeholder legitimacy is evaluated using SD via content analysis based on panel data samples from the construction and property sectors. Research Findings: It was found that legitimacy is an antecedent and has a positive relationship with SD. Furthermore, this relationship between community legitimacy and SD is stronger when mediated by media legitimacy. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study shows the effects of the legitimacy attribute on SD instead of the influence of stakeholders in general (regardless of the legitimacy concept) and the incremental value for companies to include the interest of the media in SD apart from the communities alone. Managerial Implications in the South East Asian Context: It guides managers in forming a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan and budget to increase company value. This illustrates to the managers the motivation behind making disclosures about the media in the SD more so in this rapid social media where fake and misleading information threatens the public trust in Southeast Asia. Penerimaan BIM di Kalangan Kontraktor PKS dalam Industri Pembinaan Malaysia

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a modelling technology that provides construction professionals with digital tools for use in project planning, design, monitoring, and control. The potential advantages of putting BIM into practice are known to the Malaysian government. The Malaysian government has taken a number of steps to promote BIM in the hopes that Malaysian construction industry experts will utilize it extensively. However, significant difficulties are delaying the introduction of BIM in Malaysia. Implementing BIM typically presents difficulties for smaller businesses. Even though there are numerous benefits to utilizing BIM, small and medium-sized construction companies are still cautious to do so in the course of their work. This study examines BIM adoption in Malaysian small and medium-sized construction firms. The present degree of BIM adoption in Malaysia’s construction industry as well as the best tactics to encourage SME contractors in Malaysia’s construction industry to embrace BIM more effectively were the subjects of a questionnaire survey that was conducted. According to the survey’s results, SME contractors are still trailing behind in adopting BIM due to a number of obstacles that stand in the way of its adoption. In order to increase BIM adoption among SME contractors, it is crucial that government agencies successfully promote and encourage BIM use across the whole Malaysian construction sector. The importance of this study is in gathering data on the extent of BIM adoption among SME contractors, which might be utilized as a benchmark and reference for the development of BIM in the Malaysian construction industry.

Exploration of challenges to deployment of blockchain in small construction projects

Blockchain technology provides a decentralized way of handling the data and supports the construction project's sustainability and performance. Small construction projects in Malaysia always need help adopting new technology like blockchain. This research aimed to investigate the challenges affecting the implementation of blockchain technology in small construction projects in Malaysia. The study examined Malaysian minor construction project blockchain implementation issues. A total of 17 challenges were found significant in affecting the implementation of Blockchain technology in small construction projects in Malaysia. Five constructs were seen: technological barriers, work environment barriers, economic and planning barriers, operational barriers, and privacy and regulation barriers. Structural equation modeling and these structures create a blockchain implementation model for modest building projects. The model's validity, dependability, and forecast accuracy for all obstacles and their potential influence on blockchain deployment in small construction projects in Malaysia are substantial. The model also has good convergent and discriminant validity, supporting it. Blockchain use in Malaysian small building projects could be improved mainly through economic and planning issues. The present study needs to highlight the Malaysian small construction sector's essential obstacles in integrating blocks and technology that are the basis for more creative technologies. This research will help the Malaysian construction sector concentrate on improvements and assess the effect of blockchain on modest projects.

Safety Risks Analysis: Moderating Effect of Risk Level on Mitigation Measures Using PLS-SEM Technique

The Malaysian construction sector registers higher fatal accidents than the manufacturing sector even though the latter has the highest cases of accidents. There is a need to implement effective safety risk management. The main objective of this study is to explore the moderating effect of risk level of accidents on mitigation measures implemented. For this purpose, the factors causing safety risks and the practical measures taken by contractors to mitigate these risks were identified, in addition to the operationalization of the likelihood and severity of accidents using suitable rating scales. Descriptive analysis shows that a fall-related accident is the most likely and the most severe safety risk at high risk level. Results from multivariate analysis using SmartPLS 4 show that safety risks have a significant positive relationship with mitigation measures, and risk level actually heightens this relationship. As a result, the practical measures implemented on construction sites to mitigate the impacts of accidents may be inadequate unless the moderating effect of risk level is considered during the planning, design, and management of construction safety. Therefore, mitigation measures taken by the contractors must take into account the types of factors causing safety risks, as well as the likelihood and severity of these factors.

Implementation of total quality management (TQM) in malaysian industrialized building system (IBS) projects

Total Quality Management could be defined as a transformation in management style aimed at constantly increasing customer satisfaction via the design and improvement of organizational systems and processes. It is critical to use an industrialized building system to increase project successful implementation. Awareness of TQM advantages and its application could greatly improve project efficiency and performance. A literature search on TQM was done to determine the TQM implementation present state and level of awareness in IBS construction projects. The purpose of this study is to identify the current TQM implementation status in IBS projects and determine its level of awareness and potential benefits from the Malaysian construction stakeholders’ perception. A mixed approach was applied in this research with the participation of consultants, contractors, clients, and academicians from various construction industry public and private sectors in Malaysia. The questionnaire survey was used to conduct the study. A total of 371 questionnaires were collected, for a sample size of 265. The findings indicated that most construction organizations are unaware of the TQM approach. The Cronbach's Alpha coefficient achieved from the study was (0.934), indicating that the questionnaire was reliable. The statistical analysis revealed that increased efficiency, improved customer satisfaction, enhanced teamwork, increased profitability, and improved safety are the most essential TQM benefits that concerned the participants. Furthermore, the results of this study provide IBS construction practitioners with significant awareness of the components that empower TQM implementation in the construction sector. This study contributes to the understanding of TQM and project performance by demonstrating their capacity to enhance the Malaysian construction sector. Additionally, it was found that the Malaysian construction industry has not achieved a high level of quality implementation programs.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Job Performance: An Empirical Analysis in Public Sector Project Management

The construction sector often faces various problems especially related to time, rising costs, project delays, waste and errors that can hinder the economic development. In order to overcome the problems, application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in construction project is actively implemented in improving work efficiency and performance among industry practitioners especially in developed countries. Nonetheless, the ability of BIM towards highlighting its productivity and performance cannot be seen in the construction industry in Malaysia and faces several challenges that affected the job performance. Therefore, this study examines the relationship between various critical success factors and job performance among professionals who have used BIM applications in construction of project management. The stratified sampling method with the population of 345 professionals who practice the use of BIM applications in construction project management are applied in the study. The total population was collected from a preliminary study of the number of pre-contract stages in PWDs that had implemented BIM. Two models were constructed to be analyzed for multiple regression analysis. Findings revealed that four factors (collaborative synergy, ICT utilization, commitment and knowledge, culture orientation) have a significant positive relationship with job performance. While, external factor (collaborative synergy) has the most significant influence on job performance among those involved with the use of BIM applications. The findings of the study also have highlighted two major weaknesses that limit the effectiveness of the use of BIM applications are related to digital skills among staff and lack of support from management. These elements of weaknesses are seen to have affected the work performance in Malaysian construction sector. In the future research, to get more comprehensive view it is suggested several other factors especially external factors such as government policy and legislation, BIM guidelines and standards are to be considered in the study.

Risk Mitigation in Industrialized Building System (IBS) Construction

To encourage IBS in the Malaysian construction sector, the government and the CIDB have introduced programmes and initiatives to enhance the adoption of the Industrialized Building System (IBS). The introduction of the Master Plan for Construction Industry (CIMP 2006–2015) creates the opportunity for the construction industry’s future in Malaysia. It has highlighted the importance of IBS and its environmental in the construction industry. This paper aims to recommend risk mitigation strategies in Industrialized Building System projects in Malaysia. The quantitative methodology involved the questionnaire survey and gives out to 146 IBS practitioners in Malaysia construction and only about 34% had responded to this questionnaire. It was found that many participants were implementing risk mitigation in the IBS project and adequate knowledge is essential in reducing risk on the IBS project. The risk factors that must be considered when implementing IBS construction are design, managerial, financial, safety and logistical factors which are design defects, poor understanding and monitoring skills in IBS construction, high material cost, poor safety scheduling, and difficulties transport IBS components. To address and overcome the risk factors, some risk mitigation strategies are proposed with the risk associated with the Industrialized Building System (IBS) projects. It is recommended that the implementation of the standardization of the IBS module, enhance the use of BIM in the IBS project, training and guidance to improve financial strategies, integrating the advanced Avs and Just-in- Time delivery is highlighted as risk mitigation strategies in IBS construction.

Effects of Poor Communication in the Construction Industry in Klang Valley, Malaysia

The construction industry is a risky and complex industry involving various parties characterized with different objectives, skills, cultures, and values. This requires effective communication management to facilitate interaction between them and ensure delivery of successful projects. The poor performance of the Malaysian construction sector has its root in poor communication. Poor communication may result in project failure. Therefore, this paper is essential to investigate the effects of communication issues in the construction industry. This research study was conducted and analysed using SPSS Software. The five-point Likert type scale has been adopted for the questions which is distributed to over 121 respondents who are working in the construction industry around Petaling Jaya, Klang Valley, Malaysia. A total of 8 effects of poor communication in the construction industry were identified. The most dominant effect is time overrun while other effects include project failure, cost overrun, fatal and non-fatal accidents, waste generation, increase carbon footprint and contribute to greenhouse effect. However, questionnaire surveys may result in dishonest answers. Hence, the study recommends conducting physical interviews to better understand respondents view on the negative impacts of poor communication and at the same time, raise awareness as a strategic approach to achieve successful construction projects.

Study on Quality Efficiency for Bim-Based Construction Projects

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) has recently compelled the construction sector to employ Building Information Modelling (BIM) as a central repository for digital project information. BIM has thus become a major influence in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction industries (AEC). Although BIM improves design quality by minimising disputes and decreasing rework, there is limited study on applying it throughout a project for quality control and effective information use. Thus, this paper explores and discusses the quality efficiency of BIM-based construction projects. There were 206 questionnaires distributed to government agencies/clients, consultants, and contractors. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS). Consequently, twenty-seven (27) attributes of quality efficiency of BIM-based construction projects were deemed the determining factor by the three research groups (Government, consultant, and contractor). The research result was to help BIM-based construction project players, especially government agencies/clients, contractors, and consultants, by giving a roadmap to be BIM-compliant and seeing the adoption process to attain BIM level 3 (full integration) for the Malaysian construction sector.

E-Procurement Adoption in the Malaysian Construction Sector: Integrating Diffusion of Innovations and Theory of Planned Behaviour Framework

In recent years, environmental problems have become more prominent in the construction industry. The production and use of building materials are still one of the main reasons for various ecological and environmental challenges in the industry. Compared with traditional building materials, green building materials are environmentally friendly. Therefore, the adoption of green building materials in the construction industry can generally solve the industry’s ecological and environmental problems and promote green and low-carbon development. Research on contractors’ green procurement behaviour can promote the construction industry’s sustainable development. Many scholars discuss and agree that the implementation of e-procurement is a green approach towards sustainable construction. However, current evidence indicates that procurement stakeholders, especially contractors, are struggling to implement e-procurement effectively. Therefore, there is a need to study contractors’ behaviour in relation to green e-procurement. In response, this study investigates the adoption of e-procurement by Malaysian contractors by adopting planned behaviour theories and diffusion of innovations in their decision-making process. Here, a conceptual framework has been developed which focuses on factors influencing contractors’ adoptions. The framework can be used for understanding the contractors’ adoption decision of e-procurement. The result will help to find the critical key factors affecting green procurement behaviour from contractors’ perspectives and extend the theories further. This framework is also in tandem with the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB), Construction 4.0 Strategic Plan (2021-2025) in identifying critical factors that affect the adoption of green procurement on construction projects.

Effects of Chinese Equity Ownership and Board Involvement on Firm Profitability: Evidence from Listed Companies in the Malaysian Construction Sector

With 68 countries and international organizations signed up to and participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the Chinese business community is playing an increasingly important role in the global economy. The number of Chinese-owned businesses within the top 50 of the Fortune Global 500 list has tripled from four in 2012 to 12 in 2017. With a sample of 24 out of the top 25 market capitalization Malaysian construction sector listed companies from 2012 to 2017, the random effects panel data regression model (REM) is applied. Results reveal that only the percentage of Chinese equity ownership (COWN) and the percentage of Chinese directors on corporate boards (CDIR) have significant relationships with companies’ profitability measure of return on assets (ROA). Chinese CEOs (CCEO) can only improve a company's profitability after two years at the top of the management team. One of the main implications of this research is that COWN and CDIR should not be restricted by the government and indigenous protectionist groups because Chinese equity owners and directors can capitalize on their multi-lingual capabilities to build closer interpersonal ties and networking ("guanxi") with business partners from China and other BRI countries.

Developing a Resilient Crisis Management Plan (CMP) for the Malaysian Construction Sector

Construction is a diverse and complex sector. It consists of projects with intricate activities and interfaces between stakeholders who undergo a series of development phases using numerous resources, integration of technologies, materials, and approaches. Theoretically, construction projects can be well planned. However, it is being exposed to unanticipated events or crises that could disrupt original plans, affecting organizations’ operation and progress of construction projects. Problems may even have the propensity to destroy the organization significantly. Considering the current paradigm of crisis, the Covid-19 outbreak that emerged in late 2019 has continuously left a lasting impact on the construction industry. As of August 2020, Covid-19 has spread to over 200 countries, and the number has increased beyond 100,000 cases in Malaysia. Regardless of Covid-19 has placed great stress on all aspects worldwide, it led to the closure of most construction businesses, causing contraction towards industry growth to the greatest to extend of -7.9%, the lowest since 1999. In this context, the effort to ensure the preparedness of the construction organizations against crisis has become an issue. Hence, this paper aims to structure a framework that consists of principles and processes which can recover and develop a resilient construction industry. The method used for this study is Systematic Literature Review of related journals gathered through WOS, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, reports, and relevant references from Government Authorised agencies circa 1998 to 2020. 4262 articles were identified, and 111 papers were subsequently selected for further analysis. Based on the findings, there are five major phases of CM, including prepare, prevent, respond, evaluate, and redesign. The proposed CM includes 4 elements and 2 outputs. The preliminary findings form the foundation for an extended investigation to offer a specific crisis management plan to guide the Malaysian construction industry, specifically in Klang Valley, to be resilient during plight.Keywords: Crisis, External Crisis, Crisis Management Plan, Construction Sector

Mediating role of employee commitment in the relationship between transactional leadership and employee performance

For any organization to accomplish its key goals and survive in the aggressive market, employees’ job performance plays a fundamental role (Falola, Osibanjo, & Ojo, 2014). The type of leadership style affects the level of employees’ commitment. Besides, employee commitment is extremely important for leaders to keep their workers driven and satisfied (Riaz et al., 2017). This study intends to examine the significance of employee commitment as a mediator in the relationship between transactional leadership style and employee performance among Malaysian construction sector employees. Using the simple random sampling technique, this target population completed a self-administered questionnaire which was assessed using structural equation modelling (SEM) through IBM-SPSS-AMOS 24.0. Resultantly, transactional leadership style proved insignificant in forecasting employee performance while employee commitment substantially affected employee performance. Meanwhile, transactional leadership significantly impacted employee commitment while employee commitment fully mediated the relationship between transactional leadership and employee performance. The research’s implications are furthermore reviewed.

Key Drivers for Adopting Design-Build in Public Construction Projects: Malaysian Perspective

Design-build (D-B) had been applied in many advanced countries because the delivery method improves construction project success. While several megaprojects in Malaysia have adopted D-B, it is still uncommon in the local construction industry. Therefore, understanding the key drivers that are affecting the acceptance or rejection of D-B is crucial. However, that information is lacking in the existing body of knowledge. Thus, this research addresses that issue by identifying the key drivers for adopting D-B in the Malaysian construction sector from the standpoint of the core project parties (e.g., project clients, consultants and contractors). Questionnaire survey data from 111 professionals with D-B experience were analysed using inferential statistics, including t-test and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The outcome shows that the key drivers for industry practitioner in Malaysia for adopting D-B are: (1) "Maximise the use of resources between project team members", (2) "Sharing of expertise (design and technical) with project team members", (3) "Well-organised project team structure", (4) "High success rate" and (5) "Dispute prevention during the construction stage". Also, there are no significant differences found in the drivers between different geographical regions and project parties. Based on the investigations, this study adds to the current assortment of information in capturing the key drivers and providing an in-depth understanding of the underlying components for adopting D-B in Malaysia. Researchers and industry practitioners can use the findings to enhance the level of D-B adoption strategically.

Contractors’ Perspective on the Main Factors Influencing On-Site Labour Productivity: A Focus on Malaysian Infrastructure Projects

The overall performance of construction projects has been seemingly low and has negatively affected its efficacy in fulfilling national development agenda. Infrastructure projects are complex and riddled with numerous construction risks, and often involve large financial investments as well as several resources, particularly labour. The objective of this research paper is to identify the main factors that influence labour on construction sites of infrastructure projects. In achieving this research objective, 26 factors were extracted from literature and subsequently distributed for assessment by 355 identified respondents via a questionnaire-based survey. 63 respondents, representing a response rate of 17.75%, participated in returning completed questionnaires for further analysis. The main factors that influence on–site labour productivity were identified through the use of Relative Importance Index analysis. The three most significant factors identified were co-ordination between sub-contractors, labour skill and expertise within specific job scopes, and, availability of updated construction drawings at the project sites. Several other factors were also extracted through the analysis conducted on the garnered data. These factors will collectively be able to accord contractors a better comprehension of the influencing elements that either impinge or promote labour productivity. These findings are pertinent for construction firms in the efforts to progressively increase the level of labour productivity in the Malaysian construction sector, particularly within the parameters of infrastructure projects.

The Impact of Non-Current Assets on the Performance of Firms in Malaysian Construction Sector

Efficient asset management on non-current assets is particularly important for a business because it increases shareholders’ value. For this to happen, management must carefully analyse the options in deciding on the amount of investment needed on non-current assets in its business operations. This research study concerns the effects of non-current assets for construction firms listed in Bursa Malaysia and their relationship with firms’ performance. The efficiency of the firms’ non-current assets is measured by fixed assets turnover, asset tangibility, and total assets turnover mated with return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE), both proxies for firms’ performance. The data collected and analysed in this research focused on the construction sector listed firms under Bursa Malaysia covering the period of 2011 to 2017. The methods employed in this research include descriptive analysis, correlation analysis, and fixed effects model to examine the research objectives. The quality of the data is tested by applying normality, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and auto-correlation tests. The overall results show that the non-current asset turnover in the construction sector has a positive impact on the firms’ performance (ROA and ROE) and significant for this sector. This means that efficiently used non-current asset in the construction sector leads to an increased revenue and improve shareholders wealth. The results of the present study indicate that there is no impact of asset tangibility on both ROA and ROE. It implies that an increase or decrease in levels of asset tangibility does not lead to any changes in firms’ performance. Also, the outcome signifies that total assets turnover does not have an impact on ROA. It means if the construction firms increase in total assets, there will be no changes in ROA. However, total assets turnover has a significantly positive afflation with firms’ performance as measured by ROE. It shows that if the total assets turnover increases, the construction firms are utilising its assets efficiently in the firms’ operational activities resulting increase in revenue and improve firms’ performance. These findings are useful for governments, policymakers, and other stakeholders to develop effective policies, rules, or regulations in promoting economic productivity, growth, and best financing decision.
